Step By Step, How-To Upgrade to Black Majik WM6 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Ok, this is gonna be a life saver for all the new people that just got here or the ones already here still trying to figure out how to upgrade to WM6. I'm gonna be showing you how to upgrade to Black Majik's cooked version of WM6.
This took me days of reading, and tons of trial and error but once I got it down, it was damn easy to do.
First off, I will give credit to all the sites that I had to read and sift through to find out what to do.
Mr. Vanx's Site - Excellent source of step by step info and more. Make sure to visit. Without this site I wouldn't have been able to do anything relying only on this forum.
XDA-Developers - I gotta give some credit to this site as some people are actually nice enough to help out on some of the small things that drove me crazy.
Win4Mobile - I haven't researched or used this site except to download some files I needed to complete this procedure. Thanks!
Google - This is one of the best search engines I have ever used and one I always eventually turn to when I have questions I need to find answers for.
Before we get started, this is what I am using to do the whole upgrade so no one needs to ask about it:
HARDWARE
Windows XP w/SP2
AMD XP Computer system, not super up to date but who cares it works.
AT&T 8525 Phone
Original USB cable that came inside the box.
Sandisk 2GB MicroSD Card - Not required but HIGHLY recommended. Don't be a cheapass, just buy one.
SOFTWARE
Download all these programs beforehand so it helps save time doing it individually later on and put them into a folder named 8525 or something that you can easily find.
SPL (Bootloader) version 2.10.Olipro (HardSPL v7)
Radio version 1.43.00.00 (Optional but RECOMMENDED!)
ROM version: Windows Mobile 6 Black Majik
WPBEAR Custom CAB ATT/Cingular Settings - You need this if you want to be able to connect to MEdia Net. (Note: I used the version without the typical keyboard settings. You can use the one with it if you want. Download that version here - Keyboard)
WinRar - To extract any compressed files.
Keyboard Symbols Fix for 8525 - You will need to register to the site to download this file. This will fix the symbols because on this ROM the symbols are in different places than indicated on the physical keyboard.
Microsoft .net 2.0 Framework - You will need to have this installed on your system first before attempting any of this.
Microsoft ActiveSynce 4.5
DISCLAIMER: Carrying out the operations discussed in this guide will invalidate any manufacturers or carriers warranty and by following this guide YOU take responsibility for this. This upgrade guide is what it says (a guide) and I take no responsibility for any problems which occur due to use of this guide, by following the instructions EXACTLY there should be very little chance of a ruined device. If at any time the upgrade process is interrupted go straight to THIS THREAD in XDA-Developers to try to resolve the problem.
(Copied this little section from Mr. Vanx's site)
Okay lets get down to the nitty gritty of this. This How-To is a combined with info and links to Mr. Vanx's guide. I've streamlined and included some missing info that was pretty vital to completing the process.
STEP 1
A. Install ActiveSync 4.5 on your computer - Just follow the prompts, it installs pretty much the same way as every other program on your computer.
STEP 2
Since we're flashing to a new ROM all your old stuff will be ERASED! So we need to backup all the stuff you want and record all the settings you need.
A. We need to write down your device's name. To find that go to:
Start>Settings>System(Tab)>About(Icon)>Device ID(Tab)
If you don't record this down, then any programs you have payed for and installed won't work when you flash to the new ROM.
B. Move any documents you want onto either a MicroSD card or sync to your computer and upload it there.
C. Last, you need to write down any settings you use for programs such as Skype, BlackBerry Connect, etc. If you also have your email Pushed and/or Sync your contacts/tasks/calander with a remote server over GPRS then make sure to record those settings as well.
Note: I won't show you how to backup your programs you have installed because I didn't have any I needed or I was able to get them again and easily download and reinstall afterwards. Plus it's not the same way to backup every program that's out there so please use this forum and post on how to do that. Of course search for it to see if someone has already posted about it first.
STEP 3
A. Press and hold both the side buttons "OK" & the Power button and then at the same time use your stylus and hit the Reset button in the hole at the bottom of your 8525. Make sure you hold it down until you see the Bootloader screen and then you can let go of all the buttons.
B. Make note of the SPL version you have on your device. You don't need any other info, just the SPL version. If your SPL version is 2.10.olipro then you ALREADY HAVE HardSPLv7. You do not need to flash it again, just do a Soft Reset and move on to STEP 4.
C. Do a soft reset by using your stylus and hitting the Reset button in the hole at the bottom of your 8525 again.
D. Extract the HardSPLv7 file into a folder called HardSPL. You should have the two below:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
E. Connect your 8525 to your computer using the USB cable that should have been included with your device. Only connect using the USB cable and no other way. Once connected, ActiveSync and your 8525 will take a little while to Sync up to each other. Let it do it's thing and wait until ActiveSync says "Connected".
F. Run the RUUWrapper.exe file. You will see a series of screens as below. Make sure to select all options colored in
RED
Follow this Link and follow the screens all the way to the bottom and come back here after the last screenshot. Do not continue onto the next page on Mr. Vanx's site yet.
IMPORTANT NOTE - You need to keep watch of your 8525 because a screen will pop up at the bottom of your device confirming to install the software. Make sure you select YES!
STEP 4
A. Now extract the HERM_Radinly_1.43.00.00_CustomRUU.rar file into a folder called "Radio".
B. You should get two files below:
C. As in Step 3, follow this Link and do the exact same thing. Come back here when you're done and also make sure to keep an eye on your 8525 once again because it will ask you to allow the install on your 8525. Again make sure to select YES.
D. After the Radio has installed, we will go to make sure it is the correct version. Go to:
Start>Settings>System(Tab)>Device Information(Icon)
The Radio should say "1.43.00.00".
STEP 5
A. Finally extract the BlackMAJIK.exe file and run it. Follow this Link and follow the screens once again and come back here when you're done. Hopefully you should remember but in case if you didn't, make sure to keep an eye on your 8525 and allow the program to install by selecting YES.
B. If you have followed the steps exactly up to this point, you will then next hear an audible tone on your device and you will go through the Device setup as normal. That includes setting the time/date, alignment, etc. But once you get to the email screen, press "Skip". That will be covered in the next part.
C. Disconnect the device from the computer and reconnect it. ActiveSync should recognize it and just let the computer and device Sync to each other. Follow the instructions on the following Link and come back here when you're done.
D. Copy both the Keyboard Symbols 8525 Fix.cab & wpbear_Proxy_Folders.cab (wpbear_Proxy_Folders.cab if you wanted the original keyboard settings) to your device using ActiveSync and open them up on your 8525 to install them.
E. Install any other programs you may have and load on your documents if wanted and you're all done!
Hopefully this How-To will help someone. I know it would have saved me tons of time and effort. Enjoy!!!

Please reply if you've had problems doing what I posted.
Thanks!

Before going through the trouble of making this, you probably should have checked the stickies:

Yeah but that's 3 different places you need to go to read all about it. My post is like the way it is because of the fact that you can't post more than 10 pics on a thread, and only limited to so many characters.
Otherwise it truly would have been a one stop deal here. Jumping around is stupid and only leads to confusion for a lot of people and plenty of mistakes are usually made somewhere inbetween.
Honestly, most of the threads I have read aren't the easiest to decipher on how to do things.

Where exactly do you encounter that message in step 3? There are sub steps within the whole step 3.
Make sure you are looking at the screen on your 8525 when trying to install the SPL on your device from your computer. Your 8525 will ask to confirm if you will allow the install. I've made that point clear and that was missing in any instructions I have ever read before.

I figure it out...nevermind
I hadnt downloaded NET Framework yet!

Contacts?
I have followed all directions. All seems well except I can't get access to "my contacts" for some reason. I have done a soft reset several times. Not sure what to do. I really need access to my contacts (at the very least).

plz help
If I don't hear back soon I guess I will have to rid myself of Black Majik....I need my contacts...this is crucial. I even copied my pim.vol to the usual location but it is just like it isn't there. Nothing comes up from my contact list. I even see on MY DEVICE that the pim.vol file had been replaced with my saved one that I had pasted...but when I go to contacts...its like it never happened...no contacts...

Weird, I'm sorry but I didn't have any problems with my contacts. Then again I always backed them up to my sim card just in case if something like this happens.

Actually, those were 3 different resources. The first link was to the actual tutorial which was similar to yours. The other links were for related tutorials and guides, as MrVanx has done several upgrade guides for different OS, Radio, and Bootloader/SPL roms.

Well I like how mine CLEARLY defines what the thread is about. If there was one like this that easily told us what to do, I wouldn't have bothered wasting my time making my thread.

corrupt pim.vol file
I discovered that i have a corrupted pim.vol file! What does this mean and how do I fix this? I was told that I may need to downgrade back to wm5 but I need a step by step for this...lol...if I go back to my original ROM can I keep the SPLv7?

LOVE IT!!! Thanks for putting it together in a cohesive package so a first time flasher will know what to do!
Ive been messing with mine for a while but finally flashed it today.
Everything went fine, GOOD WORK!

See www.mrvanx.org for downgrade guides.
Yes, you can keep HardSPL. You only downgrade the SPL back if you are sending the phone in for service.
If I were you, I would just try to reflash a WM6 ROM instead of rolling back t WM5. I cannot see why a corrupt pim.vol file would have anything to do with your OS version. (But, I do not definitively know either.)

Excellent Work !
Xyberz excellent work, hats off to you

First time upgrading- please provide input!!!

Ok gang i have been lurking around for a while and im finally deciding to upgrade my phone. for my short background, i have done this on my old magician (once) and a friends t-mobile magician (once) as well, but now i want all the new gadgets and speed for my hermes. for the record i am currently a Cingular/ATT customer living in Orlando, FL where there is great 3G coverage.
here is what i have:
herm100
ipl 1.01
spl 1.06
ROM version 1.34.502.1
ROM date 09/21/06
Radio version 1.16.00.00
Protocol version 32.53.70.18.01H (i am not sure what this one means though...)
here is what i am planning to do (in the exact order of which i will run them so if my order isnt right please tell me):
HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a
Hard-SPL-V7.rar package
HERM_Radinly_1.43.00.00_CustomRUU.rar (unless anyone thinks the 46 or 47 version would be better for ATT in my area)
Hermes_WM6_WWE_vp3G_v2.0_ATT.rar
CVSD_1.2_061226.rar
HomePlugIn_1.6.0.0.rar
vp3G_v2.0_CommManager.rar *edit* (yes i know the comm manager must be closed for this one too) *edit*
vp3G_v2.0_StreamingMedia_PATCH.rar
XM_Radio.rar (may install this later)
MobiTV .rar (may install this later)
TCPMP_v0.72RC1.exe
ac3.plugin.0.72RC1.rar
flac.plugin.0.72RC1.rar
ffmpeg.plugin.0.72RC1.rar
vorbislq.plugin.0.72RC1.rar
and that should be it i hope!!!! also, i think i remember needing a codec to play xvids through tcpmp but i cannot find anything that i have archived on my computer... so if anyone has that please let me know.
if there are any other precautionary measures that i can take PLEASE let me know. i 'somewhat' understand how the hardspl works, is that the only protection i have? should i clear up my phones memory? i doubt there is anything like a 'scandisk' or anything for the type of memory the phone uses but i just want to be 1000000% sure that this flash will be successful thats all. thanks guys up front for a great community and any help is GREATLY appreciated.
yeah, do HardSPLv7 first... Then do the Unlocker... then do whatever you want.

No do the unlocker first...it loads HardSPL (1.40.oli) onto the device....it will downgrade the SPL if you run it second.
Once that is done...load HardSPLv7 onto it.
Then follow the list you said.
great!! i just wanted to verify that my particular build (i know there are herm100, 200 and 300 now) would fit the bill.
few more quick q's...
if i ever wish to, can this phone be put back to factory settings and be completely untraceable, or am i making permanent changes to the spl?
also as far as i am aware, overclocking is not available (hopefully i can use the word 'yet' here ) for my device is this correct?
lastly- without outlook (on my computer), is there any way to back up my contacts. not just the sim card, i mean email addresses and everything? i am sure there are some encrypted files somewhere on the device that i can just manually copy and paste when i am done.
and after that, ill be flashing it all over and post the results.. and thanks both of you for the quick responses!!! i will do the unlocker first, thanks for deterring me from that hiccup

OK.....i will answer these qs but you do need to read the wiki so you DEFINATLY understand the different aspects of the hermes...
The device can be downgraded to normal (like factory settings)....see the guides in my sig for more info.
Overclocking....dont even bother...the restriction is in the ROM....later ROMs use the cpu much better.
If you want to backup contacts etc...either use PIMBackup (search this forum for it) or get an exchange account which will sync contacts/emails/tasks etc..
the IPL is still 1.01, can this be upgraded or does it not make a difference?
ok i am trying to run Hard-SPL-V7...
when i run the file 'RUUWrapper' on my mobile device i get this message:
"File or assembly nme 'System, Version 2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=B77A5C561934E089,' or one of its dependancies, was not found."
I just installed microsoft.net framework 2.0
from what the previous screens told me, the SIM and CID unlock was successful and my current IPL is 1.4 from using the programs in 'HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a.rar'
please help!!!!!
**edit**
Sorry, that is when i try to run it from the phone itself. when i run it on the computer it says 'The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.

You need to install ALL the latest .net framework packages from Microsoft on your PC, the file is meant to run on your pc NOT your hermes.
you guys are the best and so is this site!!!
last question...
i downloaded the 'vp3G's WM6 v2.0' ROM and added the patch for 'vp3G_v2.0_StreamingMedia_PATCH.cab ' but i still cannot watch videos on youtube or any site of the likes? the page gives me an error saying 'Hello, you either have Javascript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.'
i cannot find java or macromedia that works on windows mobile... what can i use??? i am finding some stuff on javaME but nothing i can comprehend or download...
lol, when I tried to do the Unlocker first it temp-bricked my phone.. I had to reflash old rom, then run hardspl then the unlocker in that order.
Use google and search for 'Flash Player for Pocket PC'
it will give you the link to Adobe Flash Player

Black Dual & Error 270 Image file corrupted

I spent last night reading up on how to upgrade, and this evening trying to do it. So please bear with me if I have missed something obvious <smile>
I have an X7500 on which I have installed the HTC WM6 upgrade. PC is running (the horrid) Vista.
I ran step 1 of the unlocker and then ran RomUpdateUtility. This gave me a Image File corrupt error. So I deleted all the download files and re-downloaded every thing, and then repeated all the steps with the same results.
I have also tried running step 2 of the unlocker which also gave me the image file corrupted message.
A general Google on this Forum leaves me to think that the step 1 unlocker is not working? but it is giving every indication that it is.
Despite every thing i have been throwing at it the X7500 is still working!.
I must be missing something basic but I'm b******d if I can find it.
help / suggestions would be gratefully received.
OK answering my own question.
This morning I downloaded all the files (for the 3rd time) and it has worked like clockwork. The only difference (that i was aware of) is that this time i ran the programs from where I had downloaded them - before i had moved them all to an "athena Upgarde" directory. can't see what differnce that makes but still..
MANY thanks for everyone's work here, at first glance it looks prettty special
You know I've had problems doing rom updates in the past, not necessarily Athena specific when the rru was not in the root of the My Documents folder. When I saved it in a folder a couple of files down it would not run. May have been what you were seeing.

Flashing for Raphael CDMA aka Herman

My wife recently got a Sprint Touch Pro, and considering the flashing junkie that I am (and how much I hate stock roms), the first thing I did was to jump in here to see what could be done about it. Much to my surprise, it seems that XDA-Devs has very little information regarding the HTC Herman variants (Sprint, Verizon, Alltel, etc.) since most of the development for the Raphael is being done for the GSM version only. There are a few scattered threads about this but I figured that a sticky (and a Wiki update) will not hurt the site and as an added bonus, it will help the noobs (and some Seniors too ).
I found most of this information in ppcgeeks.com, so feel free to lurk around that forum as well since it is packed with useful information.
Instructions are the same as with the GSM models, only inverted. In other words, IF YOU FLASH THIS ON A NON-CDMA PHONE, YOU WILL BRICK IT. NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
I am not responsible if you brick, damage, or affect the functionality of your phone in any way, shape, or form. Do this under your own discretion...
And as usual, when in doubt...READ!!!!
Edit: You will need a software to unzip the files (Winzip, Winrar, 7-zip, etc). It has been reported that the Vista file decompressor (or something like that) will associate this package with Adobe reader, making it difficult to open it...
Edit 2: If you are flashing for MetroPCS, please follow this amazing guide that dreynam2 has put together!!!
Here goes:
Step 1: HardSPL Unlocking!
Again, all this information can be found in www.ppcgeeks.com (original thread here). I just wanted to make it available to people at this site. Thanks to cmonex and the full CDMA Raphael Elite Team!
UPDATE: VZW SPL posted. (there will be an all-in-one unlocker later, but until then please read the instructions and decide which file is for your device.)
CDMA Raphael Elite Team (see: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=41345) presents exclusive Touch Pro CDMA Hard-SPL to you!
SSPL, HSPL, relocker made by cmonex, Wrappers by olinex, SD flasher and relocker (coming soon) by no2chem. thanks to NexVision (btw I'm really sorry), zule/Shadowmite and no2chem for testing!!!
there are three HSPL's now (for the non-verizon ones it is a similar scene to Diamond_C).
1. 0.25.MFG for Sprint/Alltel/Telus/Bell, for hackers only, because otherwise, it is too old, apparently has splashscreen issues and only 128MB ram. but it has mw, it has rtask, etc. etc.
2. 0.37 for Sprint/Alltel/Telus/Bell, for other people, this has no screen issues but no MFG commands.
3. 0.35 for Verizon touch pro's ONLY.
Important:
first, if you have GSM Touch Pro/Raphael (NOT CDMA, NOT SPRINT/VERIZON/ALLTEL/TELUS/BELL), this will brick your device.
to download a compatible hardspl package for gsm touch pro you can go to forum.xda-developers.com.
but if you have CDMA Touch Pro/Raphael, then you have to use this hardspl, not the one at xda-developers!!!
preparations before flash:
1) make sure you have .NET framework installed on your PC! if not, get it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
2) if you have vista, WMDC update is recommended: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ce-center.mspx
3) now decide which Hard-SPL you want to flash. if you have Verizon, flash VZW package (from verizon attachment). if you have Sprint, Telus or Alltel or Bell, flash default package (Raphael_CDMA_HSPL_037.zip).
instructions:
1) download Hard-SPL package from attachment, extract to an empty folder.
2) you must Have Phone Synced with PC in Windows Mobile!
3) run HardSPL exe that you downloaded before.
4) follow steps in the RUU, and check on the device for prompts after PC shows loading bar.
5) it should go to tricolour screen now and say 0.25.C-SSPL or for Verizon devices it should say 0.35-C-SSPL.
6) SPL flashes, device automatically reboots, job done.
7) to confirm you got it installed, go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen!) and verify the screen shows 0.35.CMONEX or 0.37.CMONEX (or 0.25.CMONEX MFG).
NOTE: you will not see the SPL version during normal boot, that is the OS version, not SPL!
to enter bootloader mode to see version: with the device turned on, press and hold the volume down button along with the power button, then press the reset button with the stylus tip, then release the volume down and power buttons when bootloader tricolour screen appears.
NOTE 2: anyone having problems with the device entering SSPL automatically, please copy SSPLManual.exe from the SSPLManual.zip attachment to the device and run it. then once the screen is in SSPL, run RUU manually. i.e. you run the RUU on the PC, if it isn't obvious.
make sure to get SSPL-Manual specifically for Verizon phones from the verizon package.
NOTE 3: this is unsigned Hard-SPL. no limitations on flashing ROMs or radio packages. also, this has overwrite protection, if someone needs to revert to stock SPL for warranty reasons, a stock SPL downgrade package is also available here.
NOTE 4: do not use this RUU to flash anything else! this is only intended for flashing the Hard-SPL.
NOTE 5: use Relocker *only* if you need to return the phone for warranty. only use it as last step - after reflashing stock OS and radio. Default relocker is for Sprint etc, Raphael_CDMA_VZW_Relocker in the verizon package is for Verizon touch pro's.
EDIT: I tried on multiple occasions to upload the Verizon unlocker to this thread, but the system keeps on refusing it again and again (main reason why I had a link to the original site). Go to the PPCGeeks site and get the unlocker from there (alternatively, this was provide by psouza. Thanks!)
Step 2: Choosing the ROM that Fits Your Style
Congratulations! If you are reading Step 2, that means that you successfully unlocked your phone (or are about to make a no-no). Make sure that your phone is HardSPL unlocked or else you will not be able to flash.
Taste is a matter of personal choice. As I stated in my previous post, most of the development for this phone is being done at PPCGeeks, and since posting every Rom thread in here would be time consuming (and possibly useless), I am giving you this link to all the custom ROMS.
Which one is best you ask? Again, a matter of personal choice. Some roms are feature packed, whereas others are light and fast. Really up to you...
Link to Roms
Step 3: Flashing Your New ROM!
Well, Step 3, that means that you chose a ROM and are ready to get down and dirty with your device (and about to kiss that ugly stock rom good bye). As with the flashing of any device, make sure that:
a. Your device has battery of 50% or more, else you might end up with a half flashed brick.
b. You have ActiveSync/Device Central in your PC.
c. That you read the steps below over and over and over again until you can repeat them in your sleep.
Make sure to follow every single step down to the T. I cannot stress this enough.
How to Flash Via PC:
1.download the ruu.zip attachment
2.unzip to your desktop
3.then in the newly created RUU directory add the rom of your choice - (copy the RUU_Signed.nbh to desktop\RUU)
4.Place phone in bootloader mode (power button while holding volume down button)
5.open the ROMUpdateUtility.exe
6.follow the RUU on screen instructions from there
If that fails please trying these directions (thanks sn0b0ard)
1. Establish active sync connection (this is the most important step).
2. Copy the RUU_signed.nbh into the RUU folder.
3. Run ROMUpdateUtility.exe and follow the steps on screen to flash ROM.
4. Once the phone reboots, go through Windows Mobile setup and let it finish.
5. Perform a hard reset (hold power, volume down, and center d-pad).
6. Complete the Windows Mobile setup and start using your new ROM!
Flash from microSD Card (Thanks to MadlyAlive):
1. Make sure you backup anything that is necessary to your day to day operations! At a minimum, please perform an ActiveSync to Outlook or your Exchange server prior to flashing!
2. Rename the custom ROM NBH file from RUU_Signed.nbh to RAPHIMG.nbh
3. Copy RAPHIMG.nbh to the root of your microSD Card.
4. Hold the Volume Down and Power button simultaneously. While you're still holding those 2 buttons, press the reset button with your stylus.
5. When your Touch Pro tells you to do so, press the power button to begin the flash process. If you do not get the message to press the power button to flash, there is a mistake in the name of the NBH file or you do not have the file at the root of your microSD card.
6. When flashing is complete, perform a soft reset.
Step 4: Tweaks, Tweaks, and Tweaks!! (Part 1)
Step 4!!! Wow, you must feel in cloud 9 right now! You successfully got rid of that stock rom (without making a $700 paperweight) and are ready to tweak your device to your own liking! Here are some tips and tweaks that I found over at PPCGeek (Original thread) Thanks Baffles!!
Note:Go to the original thread for all the cabs.
Tweaks and Fixes:
Basic:
If your device is showing you random issues, such as speaker/ear piece being crappy out of the box, do a hard reset. Some have reported this simple task has solved their problems. You can do this one of two ways: either select clear storage from the system tab in settings (Start->Settings), or power off the device, hold volume down and OK, and hit the power button.
If your data isn't working, try this.
Disable SMS Sent Notification: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settin gs] Set SMSNoSentMsg to 1
Install the Picture Mail enhancement from Sprint - run PIE, and click "Click here to check for new updates." (if you changed your homepage, go to Sprint PowerDeck from favorites) Then download and install the cab file listed. This will have to be done after every hard reset. Still seems picmail doesn't like to work right, though.
Phone:
Install new Audiopara for louder volume
Enable/Disable mute call when phone is flipped over - [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PHONE] Set FaceDownMuteRing=1 to enable, or =0 to disable. Source
You can make your phone stop making noise when you enable/disable the radio. Edit [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction \CDMA\FlightModeOnOff] and change Sound_on and Sound_off to desired sound, or blank for no sound. source.
Issues with answering your phone when a data connection is open (answer buttons don't do anything)? Looks like a tweak messes up a registry key that affects this. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings], make sure SuspendResume is set to #777 (not anything containing GPRS). This issue seems to be related to Advanced Config. source
Added 1/7/09:
Enable wake up on SMS - you can do this via DiamondTweak (possibly advanced config too), or [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL] DisableSMSWakeUpEvent=0 (to enable waking up). source
Set up Visual Voicemail on Sprint. More info here. THIS IS VERY YMMV.
Internet:
This hack no longer needed on the latest version of WMWifiRouter - Disable temperature sensing in WMWifiRouter to get it to allow you to connect. Options->Configuration->Battery->Next->Next->Next->Select "Disable temperature detection"->Next. There is a bug, at least in my version, that shows "Enable temperature detection twice" however selecting the second one disables it.
Hack Internet Sharing to work: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing] Delete Extension key, set/create MaxCMCon=0 (decimal). [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings] Set ForceCellConnection="Sprint" -- Cabified Version Here
Change "Reply All" in poutlook back to "Reply" - [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BootLauncher\Servic es\OutlookEnhancement], set module to an empty string. TO revert, set module to "\\windows\\OutlookEnhancement.dll"

Increase TouchFlo's sensitivity, so you don't have to push as hard to scroll. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings] increase FingerPressure. Default is 16. I am having good luck on 128, I may raise it higher. Higher = more sensitive, lower = less sensitive.
Touch Pro Cleanup by GoodThings2Life - read this/download one of the cabs to automatically apply a specific set of tweaks/mods.
Action screen changes, customizable through registry edits. More here
Change the soft keys on the home screen. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila], change HomeLSKPath and HomeRSKPath. HomeLSKText/HomeRSKText = the text. More info here.

Enable sound effects for keyboard open/close, info here. source
PST Tweaks:
First thing you must do is get your MSL. I wrote an app to make this very easy for you, more info on it here. If you have problems getting your MSL, put your phone in flight mode and try again.
You can tweak your Slot Cycle Index (SCI) to make your phone poll the tower more often. This makes your texts and phone calls come through quicker. This setting is a trade off between lag (most noticeable when receiving calls) and battery life. The default value on our phones is 2. Every step of 1 adds 1.28 seconds to the poll time, so at a value of 2 it is only polling every 5 seconds or so. Most people lower this to 1, so the phone polls every 2.5 seconds. This won't affect battery life much in areas of good coverage, but may impact it noticeably if you're in a poor reception area. Your Access Overload Class (ACCOLC) determines your phone's priority on the cell tower. The higher the number, the lower the priority. Do note that 0 and 1 are reserved for emergency service uses, so DO NOT use these. You can ACCOLC's of 2-9, default on Sprint should be the last digit of your phone number.
Now that I've laid down the basic groundwork of the two main mods, here's how to change them. Don't mess with settings in here unless you know exactly what you're doing, as phone performance and usability will be affected. To enter programming mode, open your phone screen and dial ##778# (may be ##778 on some devices, if that doesn't work, run EPST.exe from \Windows). Click edit, type in your MSL, and hit OK. Now choose View Info in the lower left corner, and hit NAM settings. On this page you can change your ACCOLC (remember, don't use 0 or 1). Now, switch to the Modem Settings page to change your SCI (default is 2, valid values are 0-7). Now accept the changes and soft reset, and you're updated!

If you have to Relock the phone for warranty purposes, just use the relocker in the first post. Now, there is a trick to use this thing. If you want to relock and just run the exe with the phone connected, you will get an error.
Flash back to original Shipped Rom and Radio BEFORE Relocking!!!!!
*First, put the device in bootloader mode (Hold Vol Down +Power +Reset until you see the bootloader screen (multicolored). It will say Security Unlocked and a bunch of other numbers including (and this is key) 0.37 Olinex (or Monx, I can't remember right now)
*Now, run the exe in your computer. This process takes about 1-2 minutes at the most. The phone will reset after its done.
*To check if it worked, wait until it finishes rebooting and go to bootloader once more. If done correctly, it will still say "Security Unlocked" but it will say 0.37.0000 instead of what I wrote earlier in this post. You should be goof to go from this point on.

You are awesome, I have helped alot of new people who have flashed GSM ROM's to their CDMA devices and this will help out alot! Even though I have a GSM Fuze, please let me know if I can help you with this in any way. It has been discouraging to see how the new people who have mistakenly flashed the wrong ROM to their phones have been treated and I know alot about phones GSM and CDMA and am also a member of PPC Geeks and have been for some time (not much posting mostly reading) my name there is dashmaster1000. So if you would like some help or just want me to gather and compile information I am more than willing to help you! Again thank you!

Thanks man! I have seen how you've helped people out (especially in the NRGZ roms since I am around there for the most part). I have asked NATF to cross post this sticky in the Raphael Rom Development as well, to prevent "accidents" from happening. Is there any particular reason why you cannot flash via USB? I am only asking simply because it is a far easier process.
Just follow the instructions of Step 3 and you should be ok. One thing to mention, do not let go of the VolDown and Power Button when you see the bootloader. You have to hold them down since it will go to a white screen with a set of instructions in blue right after that. It is the same process as with a Hard Reset. Make sure that you did the HardSPL prior to flashing a rom. Good luck!
Thanks!

Flashing Question
This may seem like a strange question but here goes...
I am considering flashing my Touch Pro and wonder if any one has tried doing it in Win XP Pro running under Parallels on a Mac? ActiveSync works fine so I know the communication between the two is fine. I really don't want to drag my old Win 2K machine out and upgrade the RAM and OS just to start playing around with different ROMs... but I don't want a $600 brick either.
Thanks to all in advance!

It has been tested, and it works great.
On a side note, once you get HardSPL on the phone, I suggest flashing from your SD card directly. Not only does it eliminate the need for ActiveSync, but it is also 2-3 time faster.
total noob
HI every1.. total noob here..I am considering flashing my USCellular TP...
I understand USCC is CDMA? Does it matter which rom i use? Does the rom have to specify USCellular er what ..
im clueless thanks in advance
It should not matter as long as it is a CDMA rom. What makes it carrier specific are certain apps that come with the original. However, you may want to check with the cook, just to be on the safe side. Good luck!
Good ROM for Verizon TP
I have a Verizon Touch Pro and am thinking about flashing. I am curious what is a good rom that is out there. I love the TF3D so I want it included with the ROM. Aside from that I don't really have any preferences (Super fast would be a plus). Thanks for any advice.

Go to the link that I provided in Step 3 of my guide. Most of the available roms are in there. As far as which one is good, it really is a matter of personal taste. Mighty 4 (WM 6.1) is said to be one of the best and most stable ones out there. I used Fallen 2.1 and that was a pretty good rom. Very fast and relatively clean but with the app that you will want to have at one point or another. Good luck!

A few things you should keep in mind before posting to XDA-Developers forums:
Check if your question has been asked before
Some questions just keep popping up over and over. Please use the 'search function' in the menu above each and every page in the forum. Try entering a few keywords to see if your question has been asked before. If it has, please read the topics and see if you can figure it our from there. You can also search inside a topic if it has too many comments by using the search function (CTRL+F) in your browser. If you don't find the answer, please post a comment to the relevant thread instead of starting a new one.RTFW, or Read the Wiki
Chances are your question is already answered on the wiki: Make sure you browse through the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) before you start a new topic. If it's an obvious or common question, chances are someone has already put the answer there.ETFW, or Edit the Wiki
Information stored in the wiki is dynamic: The wiki makes it easy for anyone to contribute or edit pages, and link them together, it is the best way to keep all information current and accurate. If you ask something in the forum which you didn't find on the wiki previously, please take 5 minutes of your time to EDIT the wiki and add the information there when you get an answer. This is the only way to avoid tons of new threads asking the very same questions over and over and over again.
Don't be afraid of editing the wiki if you don't understand the wiki syntax: Formating may seem a bit complicated at the beginning, but you don't have to care too much if you just want to add content, add it as if you were writing a text document and sure someone more experienced with wiki syntax will edit it after and correct the bad formating mistakes.First time here?
If it's your first time here, we encourage you to read general XDA-Developers guidelines too, which is an extended version of what has already been said here. Please consider a few guidelines before posting to the Blackstone Forum and Subfora!
(also applies to other Fora!)
DO check whether your question has been asked before!
There are some questions that have been asked before several times.
Use the “Search” function on the brown menu bar on the top of the page. There you have the options the have Google search inside XDA-developers site or to use the built-in forum search.
If your search has no/unsatisfying results, try with different keywords.

Alternatively you can start using the XDA-Developers FireFox & IE Search Bar Plug In.
DO read the Wiki!
Chances are that the answer to your question is already to be found in the Wiki. So please check the Wiki and read the FAQs.
DO edit the Wiki!
All the information that is stored in the Wiki is dynamic. Therefore it can be edited by everyone. Updating the Wiki in this way leaves us with an up to date Wiki which can successfully answer other user’s question only by reading it.
Also posting an answer you get on the forum to the Wiki helps other users with future similar questions.

If i'v posted this in wrong place feel free to move it
question for TG** users
I'v been told that the TG** has a on screen nav_panel A little like a software version of the 5 way nav button on say "diamond and some older devices",
Is this true??
If so doe's anyone know which files from TG**, i need?
I got my HD2 and the only thing I would like to change is, I MISS the nav button so much,
A Touchable zone at bottom of screen would make HD2 easy to use with one hand

Yes it has a function called `Toshiba Free Pad`, This operate as cursor (up, down, left, right) and Enter keys. It also enable you to access the Start Menu.
I have no idea which files the program is in though
The `Free Pad` is also able to emulate the function of a pc mouse as well.

pros, more memory for your apps, faster drivers cooked in, less garbage m$ stuff on there.
cons, may brick your device or void warranty. you may need to find .cabs of stuff that has been removed.
pros > cons, imho.

So I have to put my phone to screen off(sleep) mode to avoid pressing the screen but whenever the bluetooth signal cuts out for 2 seconds the screens comes on. or when someone calls the screen stays on.
I've searched the forum and Im not been able to find a solution with the issue regarding this issue.
I'm sure im not alone with this issue. It will be great if someone can tell me how can I fix this please.
Thanks
Just to add I've tried different apps for screen off and the same problem.
PSgroove on TG01 ?
I hope this isn't a stupid question, but is it possible to run the PSgroove on the TG01 ?
Thanks,
Mike

[GUIDE][Xperia 2011 Series] Gps bug fix for all Xperia 2011 phones !!!

This guide is to fix a problem that affect all Xperia 2011 phones, you can find a description here also with the link to official Sony support discussion: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23119111#post23119111
What we need:
1) Rooted phone. The more simple way to do it’s flash the stock firmware 4.0.A.2.0.42 with flashtool or wotan server, then run the easy ZurgRush-DoomLoRD script available here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582.
Finally update the phone to 0.62 only via OTA or keep the 0.42 build.
2) Root explorer app for Android.
3) SQLite browser download for windows available here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/sqlitebrowser/
Instructions:
First of all make sure you have a full backup of your system or know how recover it if something goes wrong.
I’m not responsible of any damage you can do to your phone. This procedure can brick your phone or cause a boot loop ! ! ! Do it at your own risk !
Ok, let’s start.
Open the app Root explorer and browse the folders to find the file “settings.db” located here:
data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
Long click, then Copy the file and paste it in your Sd Card, make sure to select the appropriate option in the app. To do it press the “Mount” button until you can see Mount R/W like in the picture below.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now, get the file from your Sd card and move it in your windows Pc.
Make a copy or a backup of the file and save it in your secure Hard disc.
Install the software SQLite database browser for windows and open it, then go to “File” – “Open database”, select so “settings.db” file saved in your PC, but not the backup one .
Go to “Browse Data” and under “Table” select “secure”.
Now find the line “assisted_gps_enabled” and after a double click change the value from “1” to “0”.
Here a picture of the line you should see with the old “1” value, remember to change it like described up .
Apply the change, then “File” – “Save database”.
To be sure the file is correctly edited, open again it with the software and go in the “secure” tab, if you see “0” in the assisted_gps line is ok, Exit.
Copy the edited file into your SD card and keep it there, Open root explorer and go into the folder:
data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
long click on the file settings.db, then click “permissions”.
Note these settings in the paper or somewhere, it is very important do it carefully, is enough remember the flags position !!! However the correct permissions are:
User: Read Write
Group: Read Write
Others: no flags
Now, you are ready for the most important step.
Go again with Root explorer in your SD card, where is located the pc edited “settings.db” file, long click and “Copy”; now place it in the folder “\system”, long click and “Permissions”.
Make sure to select the correct flags as you noted them for the original file !!!! So:
User: Read Write
Group: Read Write
Others: no flags
If the flags of the edited file are the same of the original one or, I explane better, if the edited file don’t need permissions change because they are already the same of the original one noted before,stop you, it is very probably a boot loop.
Now long click on the edited file with the new permissions and select “Move”; paste it into the folders: data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
replace it. DONE !!!
Reboot your phone .
Do it at your own risk !!!
This procedure works, is tested by me but I’m not responsible of any damages.
Now the Gps works like a charm and no more disconnections every 5 minutes with data disabled, finally we have a full offline Gps !!!
NOTE: This fix exclude totally the "Assisted mode", the gps will work only in "standalone mode" without data required. This doesn't mean you will have low performances, absolutely not , the gps chip works like a charm with the best precision, only the First fix will be a little slower, because not data assisted, basically you have to wait 20 seconds intead of 10 seconds. That's all.
This is not an official Sony fix, you can void your warranty doing so.
Tested on Xperia Neo, should work with Arc, Arc S, Ray, Neo V, Pro but it is not tested at the moment.
This is only for Gingerbread !!!
Remember to do a backup until use this guide, you have to be sure to recover your system without lose nothing, in most of Xda threads you can see how do it.
UPDATE 1: A user have reported a minor issue when replacing the settings.db file on .58 firmware. Basically when you confirm to replace the file with original, the same file disappear from the folder !!! This didn't never happen in my tests, however cause a boot loop, so to prevent it after the procedure is done exit from root explorer and open it again (don't reboot of course), go to the folder of settings.db file and make sure it is still here with the correct permissions.
If the file there isn't, copy again the edited one from your sd directly into the folder data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db (not in the root "\system") and change there the permissions.
Now the file should remain and you can enjoy the fix.
Good Luck
By Marco
Is it for Gingerbread or also for ICS?
Sent from my MT15i using Tapatalk
Only for Gingerbread !!!
I add this information in the guide, thanks

No, unless you wipe user data.

Should be so !
But you can check your settings.db file with internal root explorer view, is enough click shortly on the file, and under the table secure, you could see the assisted_gps line with the value "0".
If it is again "1", please repeat the procedure.

Let me know if my guide has been simple to follow, or if you have encountered some problems not mentioned in the test
I made it more clear then possible, step by step with explanations and images, so everyone could apply it.

Its quite easy and simple to follow. Thanks.
Thanks man,
for several months I've suffered from GPS drops when tracking my sport activities by Endomondo - partly I've blamed the tracker app itself, or the phone's GPS hardware - but a so blatant fault...
My luck is that I got fed up today, so I found a solution immediately, as I can see you've tried to solve this problem for months, now (like we had done here with a different problem: http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/162629#162629)
Interesting info (so the GPS should performe better compared to other mobiles - till now they felt inferior): http://developer.sonymobile.com/wp/2012/01/19/glonass-support-in-our-latest-xperia-phones/#more-5134
I've tried GPS Test and it works!
I've downloaded this one also, if I've further problems, I install it:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5Eb3VibGUuRmFzdGVyRml4Il0.
Yes, we have this problem since 6 months !!
Happy to hear you solve immediatly , did you encounter some troubles following the guide ? I hope all is clear for everyone
Please, don't install FasterFix or any apps that could speed up the first fix, is absolutely useless.
we could simply use "Sqlite Editor" in Android OS, and we dont need PC at all
Hey mate.
Im going to try this fix and then leave a reply.
Cheers for finding the solution

Yes, we could
But i worked on this solution, and since I have success I didn't change the procedure.
Nice guide!
Please add to the OP that using this method, the user disables A-GPS functionality, which means GPS lock will be slower.
What is A-GPS?
GPS operation uses radio signals from satellites alone.
A-GPS additionally uses network resources to locate and use the satellites in poor signal conditions.
In very poor signal conditions, for example in a city, these signals may suffer multipath propagation where signals bounce off buildings, or be weakened by passing through atmospheric conditions, walls or tree cover. When first turned on in these conditions, some standalone GPS navigation devices may not be able to work out a position due to the fragmentary signal, rendering them unable to function until a clear signal can be received continuously for up to 12.5 minutes (the time needed to download the GPS almanac and ephemeris).
An Assisted GPS system can address these problems by using data available from a network.
Assistance falls into two categories:
1. Information used to more quickly acquire satellites
2. Calculation of position by the server using information from the GPS receiver
As an additional benefit, in some A-GPS device implementations, the amount of CPU and programming required for a GPS receiver is reduced by offloading most of the work onto the assistance server.
GPS, is slower on time to first fix. That is why many mobile phones combine A-GPS and other location services including Wi-Fi Positioning System and cell-site triangulation and sometimes a hybrid positioning system.

Yes, i wrote so !
The first fix is a little slower, about 10-15 seconds more, and Agps is totally disabled, but is not a problem, the gps chip work so well, it doesn't need data like other normal car gps
I have a Q. I've got a .58 rom (original SE), rooted.
In you first post you only mention .42 and .62.
Have you tried with a .58 rom?
Cheers

0.58 is not available on my country, but i don't see any reason why it shouldn't work . You have to modify a system file of android, not a Sony one, so should be the same.
Of course if you didn't experience the bug, don't try this guide
but i think 0.58 hasn't a bug fix, like all 4.xxxx builds

I have this bug. I believe all Xperias have this problem. I have been reading the thread on the SE talk forum, about the GPS bug. It was there I read about this fix
I will try it and then report whether it worked or not. It can take a few days, I'm sick atm.
I have tried with the method on 1st post and got a boot loop

Ok so there's something wrong with your tuturial.
I have redone the process and when you paste the setting.db and it asks you to replace it, and you say yes, then the file disappears! But no fear, go back to your SD card, copy the file again and paste it again (this time it won't ask you to replace because no file is there!). Then go the permissions and change them accordingly.
Close program, reboot and it's done!
Worked first time for me!
