8525 Lost ability to use Push?? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

I am really puzzled by this one. I have been using the Cooked Official Hermes Mobile 6 for Cingular / ATT rom for a few months now with no problem. Just last night I lost my Outlook Inbox in my list of mailboxes. After looking a little deeper it appears that I cannot use direct push anymore. I have tried clearing memory and reloading the ROM onto the phone.
The very first time the phone comes up after running the AT&T cab packages, I set up the server sync options. While it is doing its initial sync I can quickly go into the Schedule setting ans it is set for As Items Arrive.
Here is the problem...
As soon as it finishes the first sync, grabs contacts, mail, calendar, and tasks. I go back into Schedule and it is defaulted to Manual, and the option for as items arrive is no longer there. If I go into comm manager there is an x through the Direct Push icon, I can enable it, close comm manager, attempt to sync again, go back to comm manager and it has an x through it again????
This one is killing me here. I know the server is set right as we have 10 total phones at my company that are all setup for direct push, they are working correctly, just not mine. Granted my phone is the only one running mobile 6. But it has worked flawlessly for months, even before the "official" rom. I have tried Schaps latest version but the problem seemed the same. Is there a problem with the phone outside of the rom image?? Something that needs to be reset? Please, I need some help with this! I don't want to switch back to my 3125, noooooooooooooooooo!!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Edit...
Still don't have it working but... Couple of things, Calendar, Tasks, and Contacts are working just fine. Subfolders in my Exchange mailbox are working ok. But i am still unable to select "As Items Arrive" or keep the Microsoft Direct Push button in Comm manager enabled. Again any thoughts would be very helpful. I am a network admin with direct control over my exchange server. Tonight I am going to fire up my 3125 and pop in my sim and I would imagine that things should work just fine. The part that boggles me is even with a fresh rom flash or with multiple roms the problem still exists?? I don't know if any of you out there are Exchange Admins too, but could it be something on the server side of things? Thanks again everyone for taking the time to read this!

direct push
a good test to eliminate phone vs. exchange would be in your web browser goto IP address of server + forward slash OMA (Outlook Mobile Access) i.e. www.domain.com/oma
this should open a login prompt, put your active directory credentials in there and click ok. If this works then your server is good...

An excellent troubleshooting step! Unfortunately I have tried that, and it did work correctly! I have reverted to my 3125 for the moment. All works well with that phone. 8-( Sooo, my exchange account is fine, my sim / AT&T account is working properly. I guess somehow the phone was corrupted?? Is it maybe worth reverting back to WM 5.0, and then bringing it back up to 6.0? Thanks for taking the time to help!!

WM6 5.2.1711 Email Issue

I recently update my 3125 to WM6 and it is working great. But I do have one issue that was previously working when I was using my old ROM. I have my email synced with my company's Exchange server. I am able to get email contacts, etc. But I used to be able to delete an email on my 3125 and then it would also delete it on the exchange server (removing it from Outlook). This is the way I prefer it. Is there a setting that I am missing? or is this a bug with this new ROM (I used the CLEAN version by the way). Any help would be appreciated.

Deleted items won't get deleted immediately. It does take some time, because deleting items isn't as urgent as receiving. That worked the same way in Mobile 5.
HTH
Thank you, I may have not been waiting long enough, I see if I do a Send/Receive it works immediately. What setting would I change to do it faster?
you can see if there is a setting like in the professional version of Windwos Mobile concernig the Emptying of deleted items, the options are imediately, on next send & receive and another one is manually....
BUT I am not sure it is present on the Windows Mobile Standard, (sorry I am too lazy to go downstairs and get my startrek power it on and check...so you have to look for it yourself
No, I don't see that setting, that's fine though, I'll just let it take it's time I guess.

I don't know and don't care. Because if I delete an item on my mobile, than I'm away from outlook. And than I don't care if the item flushes down right now or later. As long as it is gone all is fine.
Bye
It saves battery and data not to "push" the "read" or "deleted" updates immediately.
As you say, you can send/receive to force it - but it will also be updated next time it syncs anyway ie when you get another email.

Can you use Verizon's sync server with DCD's Custom ROM?

The way my XV-6800 is set up is that I'm using the new stock Verizon Rom on my device (upgraded from 6.0) and I get my e-mail pushed through Verizon's Wireless Sync service everytime I get an e-mail on this account (personal Yahoo account).
I've been having issues with this device and I'm swapping this unit tomorrow so I'll be back to 6.0 again.
I'm thinking of running DCD's Rom instead but need to know if I can get my e-mail through Verizon's Wireless Sync like I do now. Is this something that is added when the Verizon's customizations run or is it provisioned for in DCD's Rom?
Thanks!
Are you using activesync to sync your yahoo account (IMAP or POP) or are you using that Verizon VZW sync program on your phone? If you are using the VZW program you will either need to find it on the CD and reinstall it to the phone after you upgrade to DCD. If you are using activesync then there will be no change to what you do now.
all you need is the wireless sync software. Theres some website you go to on your phone to get the wireless sync software but i forget the site. it's an offical vzw site though
VZW wireless sync sw can be found here:
http://ota.wsync.com/
I suggest using the UC script to install with any other customizations. That's the way I do it anyway. GL.
Why would you use VZW's software to sync your yahoo account? just put it in outlook mobile and connect that way
you can use it to save your contacts and everything else and access them off wirelesssync.com i used to use it before i switched to their 29.99 plan and started using my works exchange server
I need to do this
I need to set this up again, my company has their exchange server set-up to push down a requirement of a strong password on a non corporate PPC that is set to lock down the phone after 15 minutes. The pass has to be at least 7 characters and contain one each of upper case, lower case, number and special character ([email protected]$%). It's a pain, I need to re-flash anyway to get my com manager back. No time like the present. Think I might try a PPCGeeks kitchen, just to see if it's any good.
Activesync caches the password if you tell it to, so why would you care if its 7 character alphanumeric with special chars?

xv6850 stopped sending emails! Ideas?

I configured my phone with Gmail out of the box, it functioned perfect for a few weeks, and now for some reason it will check and download my email, but will error when trying to send any emails.
Any idea why this could be?
Yah, that's happened to me too, I just deleted that gmail account, made another one that checks the same account, and it worked again...kinda annoying, but it's a 2 min process.

I have seen so many repoorts of this over at PPCG and from firends of mine with the TP.
Maybe a GMAIL issue? Not sure but your not alone.
i've tried remaking the account on the phone to no avail. good to know at least I'm not alone!
I started seeing this problem with IMAP servers on WM 6.1, have compiled some info on it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=374663
I haven't had to recreate any mail accounts after applying the MS WM 6.1 patch linked in that thread. A soft reset is all that's been needed since.
I've got my fingers crossed for WM 6.5 to be a real fix. I'd like to give that 5.2.21014 a try too if it ever comes around again...
go to mail2web.com create a free account (Exchange Support)
go to Gmail settings forward ur gmail incoming mail to [email protected]
now setup push e-mail on ur phone through active sync
ull get the e-mail within 5 seconds of it being received, and u'll save some battery juice cuz ur phone is not checking for new e-mails every now and then.
IMHO it works flawlessly, i have my hotmail and gmail going through push, as u can forward as many e-mail accounts as u want
MOE
As it turns out a second soft reset and delete>remake the account on the phone got my email working again.

Windows Live & Verizon TP Notification

Is anyone successfully using Windows Live on their Verizon TP to access their Hotmail account?
I've got the thing set up OK but if I leave the Sync Schedule at "As Items Arrive" my TP will miss e-mails, despite Microsoft's claim to the contrary (note: I don't even have Windows messenger installed so this is not THAT problem). However, when an e-mail DOES come in I get an audible notification.
So I set WL to pull every 15 minutes which works almost always but then the TP NEVER rings when a new e-mail comes in: the D-PAD does flash (laboriously slow, but it flashes), but no audible warning.
Does anyone have WL set up on their TP to pull periodically and also get audible notifications?
Thanks for any info.
I cant even get Windows live to install. I used the fixed cab and whenever I try to even clock on it, it starts to load and then locks up. I tried with TF3D off, I removed the windows live stuff off the home screen.
I've tried everything...

Well, that doesn't surprise me.
In fact, you might consider yourself lucky.
It's apparent that WL, like the Windows OS, is inscrutable to even Microsoft and has bugs that may never be corrected. As I say, if you DID manage to get it installed you'd have to contend with unreliable push or unusable pull e-mail. You might even run into my latest issue: random lockups a couple of times a day requiring a soft reset.
Better, IMO, to leave well enough alone.
Well I got it work flawlessly on my verizon htc apacherunning wm 6.1 and tf3d. Im very frustrated right now with the touch pro. it seems verizon has made it impossible to get your msn mail except by using the app you have to download. Even when i use opera, i can navigate to hotmail, the main inbox screen will load, but when i click on an email it just sits there. I can put checkmarks on messages but when i select mark as junk or move to folder it also hangs. I did a hard reset and installed the new opera with flash support from xda here and it does the exact same. I tried setting up a new account in outlook on the phone and when i click fin8shed it says it found the settings for msn and then it does nothin does not save the account at all.
Im just so frustrated. Is there a way to make the email screen in touch flo to activate the downloadable verizon mail program instead of trying to open up outlook that I cant get to work?
Well, far be it from me to defend WL but something is weird if you can't get it loaded after a hard reset. Even I can do that (did it directly through PIE).
Opera is evil. Try not to use Opera. Why don't you use PIE and go to http://mobile.live.com/pocketpc/. This should allow you to access your hotmail through PIE.
From my understanding WM 6.1/Outlook on the TP handles all Hotmail through Windows Live (unless you want to go through the browser). I tried and, if you ask Outlook to detect settings when trying to set Hotmail up as a POP/IMAP account, it will launch Opera.
If you've tried downloading WL through PIE and can't get it to install, then I don't know what to say. If you CAN get it to install but it hangs when you attempt to link it to your Hotmail account I would suggest, just for giggles, creating a brand new Hotmail account. I have a very old one and WL didn't like it at all. You might also try creating the new account if the WL link I gave you above doesn't work. I've heard say that older Hotmail accounts don't play well with WL (as if anything does).
Good Luck.
It works flawlessly on my VZ Touch Pro for whatever reason. I changed the sync settings to manual though due to the horrendous battery drain.

Exchange Corporate email settings problem solution [JB 4.1.1]

I recently solved a real pain of an email issue I was having, and wanted to pass along the experience. I had tried searching these forums for several days, but didn't quite find my problem, and didn't find the solution all in one place. With that in mind, I'm hoping this information helps someone, even if a bit of it may be covered in other threads (sorry if so).
I had upgraded recently to JB 4.1.1, and was having a lot of problems getting my corporate/exchange email account to work. The calendar and contacts would work sometimes, and the email never got past the "waiting for sync" screen. Anytime the calendar and contacts would work, they would break after a reboot of the phone.
I also found that sometimes exchange account would stick around after it stopped working, and other times it would disappear (from the Android settings > accounts list) completely. I had set the accounts up both through the stock email app, and through a third - party email app (Enhanced Email, a good app).
I tried deleting and recreating the accounts, with varying settings (port numbers, accepting all security certificates, etc.). Later on, I went to my company's online web access for Exchange, and deleted all the mobile connections so that it would create a new connection for my current phone and ROM. I recreated the account (for what seemed like the 50th time) after that. Still no good.
The thing that made the difference: I finally read a tip somewhere to force stop the (stock) email client, and clear its cache and data. After that, the email app needed to be set up again, but email synched for the first time since I installed this ROM, and my calendar and contacts work reliably. It's been several days and reboots, and no further problems have come up.
I hope this helps someone, and again, apologies if the information is duplicative. I couldn't find it all in one place, and was really beating my head against the wall trying to find a fix.

Hi there, I think im glad i found this thread although not sure it will help with my corporate mail problem. My problem exists only with contacts not syncing from my corporate exchange account. My mail and calendar is ok just no contacts sync.
You mention to force stop the stock email client, can you advise the steps and exact name of the process? Do you mean in manage apps - All - Email ? I cant seem to stop that process its all greyed out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, due to my role i really need my exchange contacts to sync.
Cheers,
Hi guys,
My experience is different.
If you have problems to sync your email you need to clear all previous mobile connections from outlook (via outlook web access) and set up your account from zero on the device.
Quick question why do you use a third party email client? Do you have Samsung device? Got the same problem and had to move to a asop (CM10)
Samsung email client and exchange doesn't work well since the original Galaxy.

solution for me
For me what solved was a solution I found in another post here in the forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774978&page=2
In summary:
"Settings --> Data Usage --> Menu --> and check Auto Sync Data
Try setting up Exchange account again and you'll see the prompt to activate a Device Administrator this time. "
