Need the best 2.5mm to 3.5mm jac adaptor for headphones.. - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom Software Upgrading

Does anyone know a 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter like this:
http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=104589
that allows me to use a normal headphone with o2 atom exec..
also it needs to be stereo not mono and of the highest quality..
or is there another way
Any ideas? The headphones supplied was **** and i need a good one like the ipod ones or a similar one but it wont work because the phone has a 2.5mm port not a 3.5mm port.

if you intend to use other headsets in your ATOM you need 3.5mm to 2.5mm Jack.
If you intend to use O2 ATOM headset to other devices then u need 2.5mm to 3.5mm Jack
I have both.. bought it for SGD$5 each.

Then, does the adaptor support handfree? i.e. can we answer the phone with a compatible earphone with mic?

Never tried buddy.. with a mic one..

You can get a simple 3.5-2.5 adapter for 5-6.50 in SG SLS. No handsfree support tho, the ones with handsfree are 15. I haven't got wired handsfree to work right; can hear party, party can't hear me through mic on the set. I had better results through a BT *mono* headset.
(I use a BT stereo headset now, but comparatively, the music skips regularly unlike on the mono, and while folks can hear me through the mic, incoming call volume is still to goddamn low -.-)
The Atom's default headset is suprisingly good. That being said, they look... ugly. <_<

Real STEREO OUT via mini jack?

hello everyone!
i was wondering, if the blue angel is outputting a real stereo signal via the mini jack or if it is just a mono signal on both headphone spekaers.... i once read something like this, cant remember where, cant say if its true...
does anyone know?
btw: whats that strange connection around the minijack for?
thx in advance!
krz
BA has stereo sound output for sure! I have made my own 2.5 jack to 3.5 jack wire, so then I connect headphones from player I can hear for sure that sound is stereo Don't try to create This wire by your own, better ask me, and I'll post photos how it could be done. Anyone is interested in creating wire?
PS: You can modify 2 ears-headset, from mono to stereo by shortcutting the diode (black* little square inside headset plastic box). Disadvantage: headset can't be used for calling anymore.
hi fatalistic!
thx for your answer! and yes, i would be very interessted in creating a such a wire... it would be graet, if you could post pictures and explanations on that topic!
thx again,
krz

hi guys!
i just received an answer of the HTC Technical Support to my quetion regarding real stereo via mini jack.... unfortuneatly, they pointed out, that the HTC Blue Angel DOES NOT output a real stereo signal, just mono on both channels....
what a pitty!
Well, with the 2.5 to 3.5 adapter I'm now using it most definitely does have stereo. On my hypnotherapy tape Paul Mckenna verbally identifies the left and the right ear, so I used that to check, and I don't think I'm tripping.
Not that I wish to contradict 'The Guy'.
adaptors are on ebay for 2.5mm to 3.5mm for about £1.50
Sennheiser Mm10
i bought an adapter from hama (2,5mm to 3,5mm), but it is still not working... i only get a mono signal in one earplug... sucks big time!!
anyone knows, if the SENNHEISER MM10 would work with the MDA 3 ???

Srz, dude.... but this is bull****, I certainly get stereo sound with the earplugs that came with my O2 XDA IIs.
The sound is stereo for sure. I cannot recall any Pocket PC without stereo sound output. At Tech support they don't know what they are talking about.
Try looking for old Motorola earphones (i.e. for MPx200) it has the same connector scheme. The usual 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm adaptor won't work, use the Motorolas one. BTW: Scheme is in wiki's general section.

Hi, I saw your post and i`m very interested in changing 2.5 to 3.5 stereo jack.
i use one kinda like this one
http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=104589
the one i'm using is not made by gamin but nor is it spc for htc devices
just any old 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter
do u want to fix ur converter
hi guys
i hv spv m2000 giving 100% stereo sound. Recently i bought a 2.5 to 3.5 converter from ebay which was not compatiable with BA so i open it fix it. now its working perfectly.SO if ny bdy want to fix his converter tell me.
there are other way....
i have modified the original earphone (cutting and soldering) however, if you don't want those nasty work, just simply buy the original motorola e398 rokr earphone, good quality sound..
@ krishan2207 & evoluzionne:
thx for your answers!
do you think, you could describe how you fixed/modyfied your adapter/earphone?
maybe you have pictures? or some kind of tutorial?
this would help lots of people, i guess.....
@ evoluzionne:
are you refering to THIS headset? do you know, if the SEND/END button is working?
thx again!
krz
yes... (the send and receive button works) that's one.. good quality sound both bass and treble, vocal clarity, however it doesnt have volume dial, you should set the volume from your music player applications..
about the modifying of the headset you could just find it in the link below..
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=handsfreethatdoesntsoundlikecrap
of you just dont sure to do this just simply buy the motorola's e398 handsfree.. for its sound quality..
regards
adri
so? anyone try the motorola's?
have u guys try it? it is good and working isn'it? later, i'll show my modified handsfree, for some people it looks sucks but working perfectly....

SENNHEISER MM50 iphone is compatible with HD ??

Hello,
Yesterday I saw this one selling on my hometown Fnac. Could the micro and the answering/cancelling button be compatible with the HD ??
http://www.sennheiserusa.com/newsite/productdetail.asp?transid=500745
To be on the safe side, you should buy the 2,5mm 4-pole Version of MM50.
Use it then with YC A300 Adapter.
I guess the 3,5mm jack is just headphone only, because Headset functions are done with the ExtUSB connector.
Are u sure, cause I think that the original one that comes with the HD also has headset functions... like the one that camed with my old S200 (it was 2,5mm)
the 3.5 connection on the HD has headset capabilities.

After I get HD I'm going to ask a friend to try his iPhone Headsets on the HD
I tried an original iphone headset and it works, then I bought a different one for the IPhone with answer button and it works. All of them have the 3.5 conncto

No, if you plug a headset into ExtUSB it tells you to remove it, incompatible.

Iphone headset on htc HD

I have expensive in ear plugs with mic.
why is it not possible to use them on my HTC ?
are they build diffrently ?
it is just the mic that wont work.
any toughts ?
Could you describe your problem(no sound or what???)
but I think that Iphone has 2.5mm headphone jack(correct me if Im wrong) but Our Touch HD has 3.5 mm headphone jack...
ok
i will explain.
from htc headset everything works fine.
on iphone headset (this one)
I have sound on both left and right
and the button works as well. But not volume up and down. This makes sense because it probobly is a software thing. But the mic will not work. So i cant use the iphone headset as a handsfree.
the jack looks exactly the same.
i think both are 3.5 mm jack.
Any toughts ? or somone who know ?
Well it could be something about that its Apple !!!! they like to make stuff which dont work on anything but Apple!!!!!

Not completely true, I Use Seinheisser MM50 Iphone wired headset and works perfect (and a Jabra 3030 BT headset also). I think the problem comes from the volume part of the headset, so far any with Vol/Play/pause etc on wired headsets don't work.
Original Headset of the 3G and Bluetooth works
Both, the original beadset out of the box of the 3G Iphone and the original Bluetooth headset works perfect.
Okay thanks for great posts.
The conlusion is that it is almost the same, but the blackstone can not handle the iphone headset with volume buttons.
I only guess when i think this may be a software thing ? or what ?
Then i just have to sale my iphone inear. that sux
Sennheiser MM50 iphone?
So, could someone verify that Sennheiser MM50 for iphone works properly on HTC HD? It would be fine as long as the microphone, earphones and call answer work, volume control is not that important for me.

As I said above, works great, good sound quality. Been using on my HD for a few weeks now.
Thanks. I just wasn't sure about the call answering button. I've used MM50 (fastport version on my P1) for quite a while and the sound quality is absolutely fantastic.

I think the functions of the headset that would work would only be the ones found in the default headset. left, right, mic and push to answer or drop. it didnt have volume or music player controller in the first place...

I believe the iPhone 2G has a 3.5 mm headset jack, but it is recessed, therfore only slim fitting headphone jacks can fit in. This was a major complaint with the original iPhone, hence they didnt include a recessed headphone jack in their later iPhone models.

In-ear headphones with mini usb ?

Is there any good quality in-ear headphones possible to use with TD2 without usb - 3,5 mm adapter ? If so link please !
...only for hearing music, or also for using the phone (needs a microfone)?
i'm thinking of buying one... i preferable want one that has the mic support
I doubt you will find any because the usb port on the TD2 is from HTC which means no one else uses it. Only headset which uses that port is from HTC themselves.
these things exist. a quick search with google... and then just use your own in-ear headphones
http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=179392
i have one these adapters but it won"t help you if you want stereo in music.....only mono and that is not sound quality in my opinion..

The HTC adaptor supports stereo, your headset must also be stereo.
I used to run out of HTC adaptor into cassette and had stereo music.

power amp full vs playerpro

which one does everyone who's tried both....like the best....for sound quality first?......i want to buy one today, but not both
I have used both (purchased both) and settled on PowerAMP.
will either 1 of these help with the low volume from the 3.5 jack ?

whats the best adapter btw.....to send to my cassette deck, just the cassette deck adp to 3.5mm jack.....
the sound out of my 3.5 is so bad I may use a fm transmitter
I use PowerAmp and the preamp slider in the equalizer does help considerably using my phone connected to my car radio by the headphone jack. I use a 3.5 MM adapter (example) that has a mic and turn my car radio into a hands free.

I plug the adapter linked to above to the Streak and a 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm cable to the aux input on my car radio. Works just like using a headset with a mic, except the putput is through the radio speakers. The adapter mic is sensitive enough That I can use it with the mic about 3 feet from me on my console.
