Ameo language change - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo Upgrading

Hi.
I need to know is it possible to change the language of the ameo for example if the original language is Germany is it possible to change it to English version without any problems?
Thanks.

Check out the Real VGA thread here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327830
Plenty of info and cab files there for changing languages.

You just want to turn the unit from German to English? Just flash it with a new ROM, I would recommend the new PK2, it's fantastic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329992
This will of course completely wipe out all data on your device, a backup would be in place.

Will the PK2 work on Chinese to English Advantage 7510?
Q

Be very carefull with flashing a x7510.
As far as i know it's not possible to flash cooked ROMs (yet), only official ones.

dwergsnot,
So, I'm assuming that from your comment that there are no English, official roms as of yet?

Well, there must be at least one X7510 WWE ROM out there, the Shipping ROM
Don't know about other ROMS, i'd suggest you check with HTC.
Whatever you do, don't just flash a X7500 ROM.
It won't work, because there's no HardSPL for your device yet.
Cmonex and/or Olipro might be able to whip up a HardSPL for your device.
Search this board for more info.

Dumped Portuguese ROM available in FTP

Dear TyTN/Hermes owners
I've just uploaded the PTG (Portuguese) ROM that came with my device.
The instructions I followed can be found in the Wiki: How to dump ROM.
Check the Wiki page for available Dumped ROM's and more information about the ROM.
You can, in alternative, download it here.

Same thing here, I have a htc tytn with the portuguese rom (bought to TMN)! And I have some problems in my wireless connection when I connect to a wireless network that requires a certificate! ...... without the portuguese rom we are stuck.. because If anything goes wrong in the upgrade process we don't have any manner to downgrade to the original rom.. and by the way we loose the guarantee..

O2 Trion and T-Mobile Vario II ->ROM upgrade to HTC TyTn

Hi all,
I'm quite new at ROM upgrading, so I apologize if any of my questions will be annoying to anyone.
I am about to buy O2 XDA Trion or T-Mobile MDA Vario II in Germany, and I plan to flash English ROM on it.
So here are the questions:
1. Will any type of ROM work on this brands of device ?
(Can I flash HTC TyTn English ROM on them. If not which ROM's can I use? Which one do you recommend?)
2. Will flashing new ROM unlock SIM ?
(If not, can you recommend me some good tool or method)
3. After upgrade to English ROM, will everything be in English ?
(Including all OS+Office apps. and keyboard layout, or do I have to set registry keys manually after?)
4. Which is the last known stable English HTC TyTn ROM (or O2 English) ?
(that it's enabling HSDPA also)
5. How to extract original ROM from device ?
(itsutils tool, or is there some better solution ?)
6. What is the benefit of Extended ROM ?
(does it exist Extended HTC TyTn ROM ?)
Already searched on forum, but still couldn't find answers to some of my questions. Anyway, I want to be sure before I do it.
I would appreciate any answers and/or advice.
Thank you all in advance.

No, it will not, but most probably your device will be Sim Unlocked.
If it is not, there is no free way of unlocking it *yet*, you can SIM Unlock it using imei-check service for 20pounds. See more info here:

Everything will be in english, but in German O2 trion you have an AZERTY keyboard (mapped to QWERTY after upgrade). If you want it to be AZERTY again you can change the layout using the keyboard registry hack found here:

Most of the roms come with HSDPA enabled, and if it is not, you can enable it using SetHSDPA /enable or fit4cat hermes tweaker, see more info here:

Re: O2 Trion and T-Mobile Vario II ->ROM upgrade to HTC T
Thanks Pof for quick answers !
Correct me if I understood it wrong, any ROM (HTC, O2 English, I-mate etc.) should work with both brands (O2, T-Mobile) ?
How can I then fall back to original ROM (if I would need it for warranty reasons) ?
Is the Extended ROM must, or can I live without it also ?

That's right, you will get a Vendor ID when upgrading, you just need to run the upgrade utility twice without disconnecting your device. This is explained in the wiki too.

As O2 or T-Mobile has not released any rom upgrade yet, you cannot fall back to original rom. There is no known way of doing it because the typical commands to backup/restore to SD card have been removed in the Hermes bootloader. So upgrade at your own risk or don't upgrade if you pretend to return the unit

You can live without it, but generally it fixes some things (you'll not be able to do video calls without it for example). All the cabs are not needed and there are some customizations, skins, etc which are really annoying for me. What I generally do is "reset" before the ExtROM installs on first boot after hard-reset, and then manually install the cabs I want: some taken from TyTN rom, some others taken from i-mate rom and some others taken from Dopod rom.
Hope that helps!
Upgrading at your own risk ... that may be risky ... LOL
But i did it and its worth,...... still waiting for the new O2 ROM ...
I've written a wiki page with all this:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeFAQ
Can I flash HTC ROM and then add O2 Extended ROM ?
Will I then have all O2 specific stuff, and O2 skins?
Did anybody already tried this combination ?
Thanks in advance...

The O2 released ROM is in german, if the original language of your O2 branded Hermes was german, then the above statement is correct and you can flash any rom without worries as you can always revert back to o2 in case you have to return your unit

Pls help Dopod CHT Hong Kong!

Hi
My Dad just returned from HK with a brand new device, but unfortunately, he didn't realise it was in Chinese. He tried to upgrade it to the WWE ROM, but it is now stuck in the "rainbow" screen and says USB or serial.
Searched the forums, but we're not sure how to get it back to the working Chinese version at the very least! Very disappointed- pls help!
first try to make a reset if it doesn't work make a hard reset or flash it with a dopod cht rom.
Kinda fixed
Thank God, with all the above help, I managed to at least get it back to the Chinese ROM. There doesn't appear to be any ROMs (English or otherwise) located on Dopod's HK website. I have emailed support and will see whether I get a reply.
IMEI-Check it to super CID. Do all flashing with no sim/sd in.
Then you can flash any Rom, including wm6.

Will this fix all my problems, ie. let me flash to the WWE from the CHT version??
Any future problems with the device if I unlock my U1000? This would be great if people could share their experiences. There are lots of threads here about changing language, but no one seems to have tried this...

Just go ahead and do it. Mine was Ameo Dutch. After Imei-check unlock I now have WWE or any rom I want. What future problems are you imagining?
I'm just thinking about the best thing for me to do.
Assuming Dopod doesn't do it for free (I doubt they will since it was our error), I might just go ahead and do it.
I just want to be in a position to take advantage of the WM6 upgrade whenever that is available. At this stage, with the CHT ROM, does it mean that if I do nothing and upgrade to the official WM6 when it is available, I will only be able to get the Chinese version?
Thanks

How to choose wich rom install on a xda neo

Hi all,
I'm new here, I've just buy a Xda Neo (like qtek s200) from Germany, this is brand from O2.
I want to change S.O. to WM6 possibly to Italian Language.
I've read the upgrade guide, all ok, now I've an idea on how to work.
The question is on wich ROM must use...
How I can choose? What I must check first to download a rom?
Thanks to all.

It depends all on what you want. All roms here in this section of the forum may be usable for you. The best idea is to read a bit in every thread to see which advantages and which tools are in that rom. Then you can decide what is important for you.
A good rom to start with - but this is only my very personal opinion!!! - is the italian flavour of gullums Coffie rom...test it, if you like and read carefully how to do everything! Welcome to Prophet mobile 6

Hi,
thanks a lot for your reply. But for hardware revision, G3, G4, ecc, there is not differences? I can download any rom and test it?
g3 is very different from g4, never confuse them or your phone will not work if you flashed the wrong ROM

Yes, you can...but be careful when you are flashing: you have to use an appropriate flashing tool (ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G3.exe or ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4.exe, apply to newer roms). Just keep an eye on that
One more advice: If you decide to use Cloudyfas (really really great) Prophet ShadoW 2.0 TE, you should flash Radio ROM 2.19.xx first (you can find it hereftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Prophet/Prophet-roms/Radio_ROMs/).
Otherwise you may have battery drain or bluetooth issues...
So, have fun!
Thanks!

when you reboot your device you can see the SPL version (and some other info) in red numbers in the upper left corner. If this ends with .000 or .0000 you have G3, if it is .001 or .0001 it is G4. But you can find infos like that easily in this forum, just search a bit around...

Sorry, it is not. You need to wait until cooked versions get on the forum. But for this we need our spl solution. Please go to General section and find thread asking for subsection for X7510 and place your vote for it. Without it OliNex group wan't start their work on Hard/Soft SPL solution.

Thats true. There is no original german 6.1 rom not even english WWE version. I told you already. They do not exist as files available because nither HTC nor any other party has released it. It was only in X7510 devices.
Some devs here like Pawel has dumped it from X7510 (but WWE version) and then used for their work. But that means their roms were already cooked. You can not dump rom from one machine and then load it to another one, cose after dumping you get a bunch of files wich you have to put togather, cooke a rom. This means you need to have unlock you CID at least or if you have a t-mobile ameo, then sim unlock as well.
So those german cooked versions are the only available, according to my knowledge.
Thank you for this informations. Now I understand what's the Problem.
But is it difficult to dump a rom?
Because the dump of a german htc or tmobile 6.1 rom would be very usefull for me, even I cant flash them directly because I know so. who wants to beginn cook a german rom version.
But therefor he needs the dump.
So my question:
Is it difficult to dump and can one use this advise for it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334680 ?
And how difficult is it to ripp the htc programms from the dumped rom and make cabs of them?
An other question:
There was such a nice rom kitchen for the wallaby http://www.romkitchen.de/ .
One was able to simly choose with one click what should be in one's rom.
Is this possible for Athena to? and do you think this will be programmed anytime?
Because even with the existing irus rom kitchen its very difficult I think.

Kitchen is one thing, ingredients are the other. You can use Sogatrhs kitchen and put german dumped rom in it and then cooke it according to your needs.
Howewer, I think there is already cooked german rom made out of mixture of wwe6.1 and some german version.
Yes I know that I could use the rom kitchen for flashing a german dumped rom but this is exactly what I'm asking for.
Please post the link if you know a german dump.

I do not think there is one. Never heard of.
But you can take the German rom ready cooked by somebody else (there is one as you know) and dissemble it in Sogarth's Kitchen. Then you can take what you want from it and put into Sogarth's base, changing in this way all files necessary for German language, for example. You would make some changes in XIP and regs as well to change the language.
Or the other way, taking some files from Sogarth's base into your German base taken from this German cooked rom.
Of course to do it right, you must know what you are doing, but it is the same as cooking rom for x7500 out of x7510, which is different machine and has different drivers.
However I have never sow any post from anybody saing that he has German X7510 version, so rather no chance for dumped German rom from this device. I actualy doubt if HTC has ever released German version. The same about T-Mobile, but I could be wrong.
