Hi,
I spent some time writing this app and would love your feedback/testing. The UI is still being tweaked but the core engine is working fine. Of course, there's more customisations to do but I feel the overall app works. There's quite a bit of undocumented features but I am in the process of improving/documentation. If you can give me some feedback on this, that would be great. This project was meant from day 1 to be FREE and accessible to everyone. I just hope you enjoy using it as much as I enjoy building it!
I've written specifically for HTC S620 (aka TMobile Dash). Uses WM6/.NET CF 2.0 (which is built into ROM) so you should be able to run it. Everything else is in the .cab file package. It can be oriented to portrait but prefered to be run in landscape mode. Supports emoticons and more along with message backup.

sorry folks - I just reposted the .cab installer - It's strange, it works fine - I installed it on another wm5 device and it worked. If you guys don't mind, I have the installer reuploaded and hopefully this time it will work. The final build will be signed - right now, it's not signed so if your device asks you about running it unsigned, say yes (for those who don't know)

What model phone and what ROM version do you have?
What is the specific error or is it a general app install failure message?
Is your device application unlocked as well?
Again, I apologize for the failed install. I will grab another WM6 device to try out.

well it's a wizard with TNT 5.0 WM6 rom. the error is still "cab installation was unsuccessful". i think the cab packing is wrong.

I am going to see if I can grab a retail WM6 device to test the install. I will see what the hell is happening. The .cab is compressed but not signed - so app unlocking is necessary. But i will see what the retail WM6 device reports back.

This is a rough start - you know how software development can be at times - nothing seems to work as planned lol. But believe me, the version build is stable enough to warrant a release. I scrapped the installer and recreated the packaging fresh. Nothing seems to be wrong with it initially (no unusual errors in the .log file). I just scrapped it and redid it just to be sure.
Just also make sure you device is application unlocked because this is unsigned release. It was designed to work on an HTC S620 but will adjust to screen orientation at least in Windows Mobile 6 (standard/pro).
I reuploaded the installer (IMSMS_Install.cab) and hopefully it will work. I am in the process of acquiring another Windows Mobile 6 smartphone to test installer. THis is really pissing me off because the app is seriously worth the time
I am still improving but having limited budget (no surplus of phones to test) sucks as well (being realistic). Give it a chance and see if it really suits your needs - I know I needed something like this for a while - something that is fast and easy to use.
I'll be back later to confirm if indeed this installer will work. I may just recompile on another workstation since this (x64 vista visual studio) may be having problems as well.

I need some more feedback - but I don't see why not - the core engine can work with any component - I just did not spend too much time tweaking a custom UI (limited in power on the HTCS620 - possible UI lag issues). I'm very sure it can be made to accomodate a widescreen device as well.
I just need this damn installer to work!

changed Build in cab
Hey guys,
i tried to install and it ended up with the same error (unsuccessful) -
Then i opened the cab file - there is an entry "Maximum OS version" - i changed the build number to 0, saved the cab and i was able to install the IMSMS.
Also changed the location for the shortcut (was %ProgramFiles%), now it's %StartMenu_Programs%. Hope this info will help you.
Added the rebuilt cab to my post...

Seems like the STUPID COMCAST hosting corrupted my .cab file! I was pulling my hair out - until I realised it was corrupted every time I uploaded the file!

All messages are saved in your DEVICE\My Documents\IMSMS_Logs\ folder (or \My Documents\IMSMS_Logs\ ) full path. They are saved internally as XML files – with the core engine rendering them into an HTML file for viewing. In the next release, there will be an archiving function that will generate the backup files for you on the fly and allow XSLT translations into readeable offline message logs. You can now just drag & drop any of the log files you see in your \My Documents\IMSMS_Logs\ folder for viewing on your desktop.
Ok, a bit of progress, and some possible failure,
Its installed fine, on the whole looks fine on WVGA, the name box is ok, the black text entry box has writing thats to big for it, i loose some of the writing into the white area underneath,
now here's the possible failure, i cant send what ive written, is there a trick to this i'm missing? i looked through the tutorial but couldnt see anything obvious.. also the built in help goes off the bottom of the screen, maybe a scroll bar required? I see the create sms in the menu is to "NOT" use IMSMS to send a text so i dont know how to send what ive typed in. I've tried the SIP enter key, and the hardware enter key, nothing sends

HTC Touch WM6 Pro
OK now its working 90% .. but same as mate ... dont have a tool to send the messege after writing it on black area text .. (already hit the ENTER key or the middle button on the navigation keypad ) but nothing happens..cursor stays there....
I actually like , its gonna be a Hit ! great work ...

I just wanted to share my first Windows Mobile application with you. It's called EasyShares and enables you to monitor your stock portfolio on the go.
The app should be running on Windows Moble 5 Pocket PC and Windows Mobile 6 Professional devices. .NET Compact Framework 3.5 must be installed on the device. And of course, a data connection is necessary to update quotes. Quote information is downloaded from Yahoo.

Yes, this ability will be added. It's already on my todo list, but unfortunately I'm waiting for an update of the controls I'm using in EasyShares.
As soon as this update is release, I can start developing charts download and the ability to zoom in and out.

First of all, EzQuote and EasyShares are not the same and of course not from the same creator. But I have started developing EasyShares because of this 2 year D.E.A.D. of EzQuotes I was using it before, but it had to less features and no touch functionality etc.
Could you please explain every step you have done until you have been getting the error message?
What regional settings do you have on your device?

ok, seems to be an error in options.xml. try to delete the file options.xml in installation folder from easyshares. the file will be automatically recreated on next start of EasyShares.
Hopefully the error won't come back again. otherwise, i have to do some testing with your regional settings on my device.
please give me a short note, if the deletion of options.xml solves the error

I found a bug look screen in PRICE $4.17
found DATA symbol is storage in:
Device\My Documents\easyshare.xml
can this storage in
Storage Card\*\EasyShare or
Storage Card\ anywhere?
EDIT: I found the problem single digit stock symbol wont pass update " C, T, S, V, and Q" same result
Remove "C" stock symbol everything work fine hope next release will fix that.
Error on message
I'm getting the same error on my HTC Touch cruise device, I remove the options.xml file, and restarted the app, and it shuts down again, any ideas???

I am encountering this error too. I think I narrowed it down to the "Show Gain In statusbar" checkbox. There is something wrong there. When you load teh program it errors out and you can't open it unless you delete the settings or reinstall the program. Can you fix that please?
I really like this applications autoupdate side as well. It shows you what verison you ahve and what version is up to date. i wish all programs had this. Great job!

Great to hear it's working now for you. The data is saved in file easyshare.xml which is saved in the "My Documents" folder on the device.
Simply backup this file and ur done
If I find some time, I'll open an FAQ page on www.easyshares.ch where you will find such information.

Thanks for that bug report. If just verified. Yahoo is giving the correct data with single digit stock symbols. Seems definitely to be an error in my code.
I'm trying to fix that for the next Milestone.

Just before I go and start working, some news for you. The new build 7 is already available on www.easyshares.ch.
It fixes the two problems reported here:
- Wrong values were displayed when using single digit shares such as Citigroup ("C")
- The option "Show gain in statusbar" caused EasyShares to crash on startup.
Please let me know, if the errors have now been solved for you.

testing it on my samsung i900 omnia
it displays ok on portrait, not displaying gud in landscape though
but when i tried to download the iris browser and pocket uno it did connect and said downloading
then an error occured :
an error message cannot be displayed because an optional resource assembly containing it cannot be found
i pressed continue
it downloaded the cab just fine
selecting another categories return error also
very nice program, very handy on downloading freewares! waiting for the final version of this one

dosent seem as easy to use as jak.. kind of confusing...
what are the check boxes for? installed? app to date?
perhaps needs a progress bar? there are times it seems unresponsive but it actually doing something...
most of what i tried to dl was unsuccesful, error message "your download and installation was unsuccesful" dosent leave much for troubleshooting.. i did have two dl's work out of the bunch i tried
themes folder is all kinds of stuff... tsk, m2d and tf3d... takes a while to figure out what is what
all in all it feels like a step back fom jak, which was smoother, nicer to look at, and had more content, but i can see where this step back was needed to get this program to where you want it(search button, pie conficts,etc...)

Love the idea. VGA needs a little work to fit screen properly. "Applications" at the top is a little cut-off. The search bar is squished looking and I cannot download. I will be anxiously awaiting each new improved version. Many people will use and support this app. if it can become stable and perhaps give brief description of each file available for download, as well as a release date and/or version number. Thanks for all you efforts and keep up the good work!

the check boxes arent for you to check... they will let you know if you already have that program installed or if has app2date support.
I'll look into the download problem.... it was more than likely an installation error. Not all files on the site are cab files.... and i'm still working on how to deal with other file types.
i'm gonna talk to the site owner about themes (as this program more or less just steps through the html of his site Freewarepocketpc.net)

Thats correct... landscape is not yet done. Like i just explained... the progrm can only handle cab files right now and might have had a error otherwise.

New Version Posted, hopefully this will take care of some of the download problems and the problems with any screen size beside QVGA.
(please uninstall previous versions before installing this one)
I definitely appreciate the efforts on the quick update, however nothing appears to be any different for me.
* the word "Application" squished at the top (not a big deal)
* the search bar is squished and nonfunctional, cannot activate it or input text
* clicking on download and install on any application receives no response at all

I changed how cab files were opened for installation and how some objects were "streched" or aligned or the different screen sizes.

I actually just got a working search function finished.... but it is restricted to using only one word.
yes it will eventually support rar and zip, i still need to automate the process of download and atleast opening the file. (i'll post the file here in awhile)

.....You should also be able to download rar zip and cab files by clicking the "installed" check box instead of the download button.... just a work around for you right now......
Downloaded files are stored in the programs directory in a file called cabs

I just made it because theres currently no versions of M2DC that works with the latest M2D.
And, even though M2DC is open-source, I dont know how to programm in that language, so I tried to mimic what it does with flash + mortscript.
It enables, disables and rearranges the tabs:

The listing is strange, as is in 2 columns, Ill have to find a better way of reordering the tabs in the future (any ideas?).
Save your settings.
Wait a couple of seconds, M2D will restart itself.

The arrow is NOT pointing to cancel, it just means the list on the right continues from there.
It does not use or read any of your previously changed xml data, for now it always starts from its own default.
It creates a backup in \Windows\M2Dr\backup of the last XML changed, just in case you need it back.
You can install the app anywhere, but it always creates some temp files in \Windows\M2Dr that take about 200kb in the device (backup included).
Some tabs NEED to be disabled for M2D to run!
If the app is stuck in a screen reading "If you can read this you need flash 7", guess what, you only have flash lite. ;P
No widescreen version, my SWF to EXE doesnt support it, sorry.
Installing old M2D skins wont work, because some files arent the same.
I wouldnt advise more than 6 columns and a reasonable ammount of rows on the LAUNCHER tab, I have no idea of its limits.
Dont use this with the old M2D, it WONT work.
Old M2D(ct) thmes wont work also, they all have to be remade.
I attached here a QUICK-FIX, in case your M2D cant load, just copy the file into the windows folder and restart M2D.

Thanks, it should be as simple as adding those registry options, its not in my to-do list because I wanted to finish the most basic things first, but I believe I can do that after.

What M2D version do you use?
You have your previous XML on Windows\M2Dr\backup just copy it back to the windows folder...

Yes, it messed up my M2D too. And I'm using version 2.19191432 as cooked by Miky6682 in his ROM (I believe this is the new version you talk about). And btw, I had only rearranged the tabs to begin with.
Copying back XML from Windows/m2dr/backup also did not help. You admitted yourself that your M2D reFLUSH does not take into account previously edited XML and creates its own backup point. I had to restore from the XML I had manually saved earlier.
Any ideas why this could be happening? M2D reFLUSH could be a fantastic tool if I can get it to work for me.
The problem is that mortscript cant "read" XML files properly, so I had to separate the xml into severall parts to be able to rebuild it with my changes.
You can see it on \Windows\M2Dr\part*.txt
Its separated into all those txt files:
Part 1 is the image list
Part 2a and 2b are created by my M2Dr flash file on save, its the tab list and order. Its separated in two because flash cant save that many characters on a text file) some characters are incorect but mortscript fixes them.
Part 3a is the end of the tab list and the beginning of the launcher settings (I moved it to the top so that it was easier to change).
Part 3b is the middle of the launcher tab settings.
Part 3c is the end of the launcher tab settings and the rest of the hole XML.
So, for now, to use M2Dr, all you need to do is make sure the file \Windows\M2Dr\part3c.txt is represented the same way in your XML.

I am using 2.1919.1432 as cooked by Miky6682 too. I am having the same problem. After I enable the "Launcher". The M2D has no longer work. Is there any wany to fix it?

quick fix didnt wrk for me. u have to hreset now. id advise ppl to stay clear of this app till u sort this bug out.

All this does is change the xml I attached and the softkeys (IF you changed any).
You did extracted the xml from the attached zip, copied it to your Windows folder and resetted, right?
If that didnt fixed it, you can always reinstall M2D, or simply remove your softkeys settings with M2DC.
But this really shouldnt be necessary, the xml fix should resolve everything.

All this app thouch is the xml and the softkeys, nothing more.
I did tested it before releasing it, I know it will only work on QVGA for now, but that should be the only problem.

Hey, no need to be so alarmed. As twolf explained, this "app" does not make any irrevocable changes. It is just a user friendly and convenient interface for editing the HTChomesettings.xml file of Manila 2D. Alternatively you can use some utility like Mobile Notepad to manually edit the xml file yourself. But thats a complicated procedure and twolf's M2D reFLUSH makes it easy for even newbies like me.
Secondly, this forum is all about developing new apps and utilities.... and testing/feedback is an inseparable part of development. If everyone "stays clear", then nothing would ever get developed.
well i am now going lose all of my data, so i will say "stay clear" so that other ppl dont suffer the same fate, the quick fix does not work and i am now screwed. dont av a go at me for being angry, im the one who is inconvenienced not you.
I am truthly sorry for your data, believe me that this was never my intention with this app...
The most that it could do of harm would be to stop M2D from starting, nothing that wouldnt be fixed easily, or at most by reinstalling M2D.

Launcher fails to change anything
Hi... First off... Fantastic. Simple and clean application.
Only thing is I cannot seem to adjust the Launcher. I set it to 4 x 4 to no avail. The only thing that happened was the icons seemed to spread out a bit but remained 6 rows and 3 cols. I tried to change anything with the same result.
Any ideas?

ATTENTION: There has been 3 reports including mine of a random probably device specific issue/bug, its the "windows mobile logo hangs and eternal soft resets issue" as i call it, this IS NOT A ROM RELATED BUG, this might or might not happen to you, nether me or hdubli can predict this, if it happens to you go back to ether your stock rom or hdublis 23506, we havent found any solution or even what causes it, bear with us guys were trying to track this down.
NEW RELEASE BETA 3 IS NOW ONLINE
This is beta 3 guys so enjoy, this rom was cooked to have a HTC HD2 feel to it, just try it, you wont be dissapointed.
HERE ARE THE FLASHING INSTRUCTIONS:
- Download 'ACER S200 Beta 3.rar'
- Extract 'ACER S200 Beta 3.rar' where-ever you choose(I prefer the Desktop)
- Navigate to '(wherever you extracted Acer S200 Beta 3.RAR)\ACER s200 beta 3\1. Flash'
- Double Click on 'ACER_EUU.exe'
- Click 'Next'
- Click 'Continue'
- Click 'Yes'
- Click 'OK'
- Completely power off your phone
- Once phone is powered off hold down the 'Camera' and 'Power' Buttons until LED indicator starts blinking
- Once LED indicator on the front of the phone is blinking click 'OK' on your computer
- Wait until 'ACER_EUU.exe' says 'Finished'(It should take 15-25 minutes)
- Once it is done flashing, hold 'Power' button on phone until it vibrates

2.Go here HKCU\software\htc\manila
3.In that registry look for a string that says "AnimatedBackgroundPath", click on it and its going to show a path "Windows\AnimatedWallpaperPath\" here add any of the animated wallpapers located in "windows\Animated Wallpapers".
4.Same thing for still WVGA wallpapers.
5.Then disable and Enable manila.

Who had the stupid idea of those ugly buttons. Main reason for not flased Hdubli's rom are those. And I definetely like them on top.
If I had the option to revert to 21857 rom I would proceed (even not the original).
But you are my heroes guys. Keep on.

If My S200 connected the handfree and standby for about half hour
the bluetooth handfree will have lag,echo.
I have tried to connect the handfree to my little mobile Samsung M-628.
Everything work fine...

You could say so, i pointed him to the right OEM packages that were needed, and so he manage to make it work 98%, there are still some bugs like SMS arnt working, mails cant be open and so on, but im looking it into these problems to fix them, so no worrys, il keep you guys update, unless hdubli fixes them before me xD.

it's what I use on my neoTouch
skinning later may be the easiest thing to do, although I do hope they have a very thin bar for the bottom bar that fits wvga better. I don't like how it interferes with tf3d's slide bar. But really I just can't wait to get this up and running.
Also, I still need a layman's breakdown of backing up my current stock ROM. I read some of what hdubli already put out, but if it is possible to simplify it, it would be a great help.
And when this 2.5 ROM is finished, I'd love for a very simple step by step to flash it properly. I think flashing is probably easier on the f1 than it was on the f900, since I don't believed they figured out how to flash from a sdcard. But I have only done it about 3 times so far, and want to make sure I've got it down before I screw it up.

Actually, after reading more into how to backup a rom, by dumping and reconstructing, this doesn't seem to be the thing for me to attempt. I don't seem to be able to find any programs/utilities that will handle this as well. SO................
Would any of the experiencenced people here be so kind as to actually reconstruct and make a factory rom for the Acer s200 available? I am too old to learn too many new tricks, and while I am a capable dabbleler, I am by no means capable of being a professional. So knowing my limits, I can only stand on the street and ask for help.
By the way, if you need the stock rom to reconstruct, and can tell me how to dump it on my device, I would be happy to send it to you.

1) Install the cab file
2) Perform a soft reset
3) You should now see a second tab called Today Screen. If not, go to /Windows, delete ManilaFull.xml and perform a soft reset.
4) Select the Today Screen tab and tab the MTP Settings button to configure MTP.
5) Only select Today as Target Page, all others will not work.
6) tab the Items tab to select the plug-ins you want to display on the Today Screen tab.
7) Click the apply button
8) Close the MTP Configurator. If you are using WM 6.5.3, you will see no close button and thus have to close it through the task manager.

Fixed 26948339_manila file. New Energy ROMs are more critical about the syntax of this file. It contained a double space and Sense could not handle that.
After installing MTP, you have to manually delete the file /Windows/ManilaFull.xml on the latest EnergyROMs.
Is it also compatible to Energy with Maxsense ?
Cannot get it to work..... I will flash newest rom and try again.

I have been successfully running V4.0 as the most stable version thus far for quite some time and have it loaded with my now Energy flashed HD2. Also, I put this onto the Calendar Page as it is far more logical and means I get a tab on the screen that shows me todays date - what are the advantages to moving to V5.0? That is, what has changed & what benefits am I going to see by reverting to using the today.page?

Nothing. If version 4 works for you, stick to it. Version 0.5.x.x doesn't differ much from 0.4.x.x, it has only to do with the extra tabs that came with newer ROMs.

I have never been able to use any other tab than the Today tab. You can select a different tab, but all other items on it are lost. If it's working for you on the Calender tab, leave it like that.

Quite simply by editing the Registry, I am able to grab the calendar page, does 5.0.2 give the option of the calendar page in configurator?
FYI: \\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\ManilaToday\TargetPage - set to calendar.page
Good Idea, but killed Sense, Seems that deleting "ManillaFull" is the issue. I'll have to hard reset.
What's about this logo, or better manila today page icon? I have searched a while for that on our good old friend google.

Does not work , also after flashing new ROM.
Today I got it to work with STOCK page.... So I can use your great program.
But I´d prefer to have a own manila tab for this.
I also recognized that the "stock"-tab was first not showed in maxmanila.
After moving it to a other position with the settings-tab I was showed again.
But this does not work with "today"-tab.

Could it be you are using a ROM which still contains the Documents tab?
I created this mod (I'm not the creator of ManilaTodayPage!) to make it compatible with the latest EnergyROM. The Documents tab has been removed from the latest ROMs, so you should have 14 tabs before installing MTP.

Thanx it works a treat on my TD2 with Energy Standard ROM.
But anyone know how to stop the "loaded today tab" message from appearing? it stops the rest of Sense from loading until you screen tap the message and is rather anoying.....i would just prefer a silent install and straight in to Sense for the device.

Replace your /Windows/Startup/MTPLoader.lnk with the one attached.

i have managed now the missing icon for the tab manager. The file name is 78DAC9C6_manila.
The screenshot shos the one from me. I hope that helps. If someone needs the file from me, please ask me here, or better via PM. Then i will publish the file. Not now because the user file memory limitation the last time o XDA .
BTW:
this is the path in manila hash: \windows\HTC\Settings\Assets\Images\rearrange\today.page.qtc
MTP no longer works with EnergyROMs
Hi guys!
Maybe you already noticed it, but MTP no longer works on the Energy Cookie Home Tab ROMs. The Today page is no longer displayed. It has something to do with the new CHT 2.0 version, but I can't find why it's no longer working...
If you still want to use MTP, select a standard Sense page (like the Stock page) to host your plug-ins, that will work.

what you say is strange, because i use all CHT 2.0 stuff but NOT on a 3rd party ROM. It is possible that the ROM cokker has deleted some functions? Possible there is something cokked in what stops or reload the ManilaFull.exe or something in the registry. This can' t be a CHT issue. My HTC STOCK ROM is working without any issue.
Advise: ask the rom cokker, because all this 3rd party software is changed in 99% of all cases.

You are right. I installed CHT 1.8 on this ROM: same result, no MTP tab. So it must be the ROM, so either there must be something missing or the Windows build (21680) is not compatible.

This is strange as I'm using Energy with Cookie 2.0 and I have no issue with installation of MTP. I just disabled Sense and then installed MTP on to main memory. then restarted my TOPAZ and then deleted the 'Manilafull.xml file' from Windows folder then restarted and there was the MTP tab next to my Home tab. When i switched to the MTP tab and MTP settings I set up the Target page as BLANK (did not make a selection).
I have no problem with MTP to work on my Energy ROM 29th Sept build. I still have not managed to get CHTS to switch profiles without locking up the Device. Now for the time being i have switched to manual mode until i can find a solution to this problem.
