another soft keyboard/input device - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo ROM Development

Although not as pretty as fingertouch, (the animation is a bit off) it works more like a cross between FT and tengo.
It's also free until December 2008
Works fine in 128dpi

not certain whether I'll stick with it, but it's a heads-up for anyone wanting to try.
some discussion
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334437

installed, soft reset and after boot up tried to choose as the default sioentry but unable to load, maybe someone can advise on the correct manner to use it? using advantage WM6 original HTC ROM.

Veeery interesting. Exactly what I was thinking with Teksoft's keyboard, except that one needs double tapping to get the letter on the right. At the time, I was wondering why someone didn't use a similar layout, but predict text based on the combinations.
Like Tengo, though, it uses a ton of space in landscape mode (haven't looked at portrait yet). Also, mine is slid al the way to the left in landscape, instead of centered. Haven't opened the other thread yet.
Thanks for posting, I wouldn't have known about it.

lmf_slacker, you sound like you have the same problem I have with all of my soft-keyboards - I click the <3rd party keyboard>, but only get the standard one.
I use SIPChange (sorry, no link, but search for it in the forums), and use it to pick your <3rd party keyboard>. Soft reboot, and it should work ok.
There's some threads discussing this problem, and fixed, but I have not gotten a fix to work. Didn't care much, cause once I pick a keyboard (currently Phraze-It for me), I will use onlyit & the standard keyboard anyway.

After installing, ensure you are in portrait mode the first time you select it (a common problem with 3rd party sips). If you then open it in landscape, the skin covers the keys as it should.
You're right though, it uses a lot of real estate. I do find it very good for finger use (which I tend to do a lot).

Thanks, I'll try that as a test, although I stick mostly to landscape, so I'd have to make it a point to rotate, keyboard, rotate for it to be clean.
Wish there was a way to specify this keyboard as the portrait default, and Phraze-It as the landscape one (or something like that).
..or mebbe a way to make the keys smaller for landscape so it would take less space (will write to the guy about some skin/sizing options).
In other news, I still have a long delay (10-15 secs) if I try to change sips.
Also, if I try to change from 1 3rd party SIP to another, the new one is always a standard keyboard, and I have to use "SIPChange" to set a new default - then just that one works until i change it again - gotta do research on that problem..

Many thanks.

This program allow you to change screen resolution.

So if game or program don't work in wide mode you can try it in normal VGA/QVGA mode. Probably it will work.
Installation:
*Copy CAB files to device
*Install cab file
*Do soft reset
*Now you can see WVGAFIX4 in Programs.
Features:
*WVGA VGA SQVGA switch support
*WQVGA QVGA SQQVGA switch support
*You have black unused screen area on screen - no stretching performed.
Supported devices:
*Most devices with WM50, WM60, WM61, WM65
Limitations:
*You shouldn't rotate screen if not-original video mode applied.
*If you want use WVGAFIX4 in landscape mode, you should rotate screen in the right side, otherwise you will have touchscreen decalibration.
You should determine "good" side by experimental way.

Anybody with Samsung I900 Omia/ WiTu please check my app.
Tested with Samsung Omnia, and it is working!
No problems when rotating screen.
Awesome software! Thanks!
Hi again!
I think you should also open a thread in the blackstone section in order to inform all them about your great app
---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=452&order=desc
this is very useful to the ones who needs them!!
very nice thinking and developing..
офигительно! респект!
When I start a VGA game, it displays well but with some black screen left on the top and at the bottom. With this I can stretch such apps to the whole screen?
no, you will be able to play to VGA games that didn't show the back pixels arround and that were impossible to launch
Will it speed up apps, like navigation on 240x320 instead of 640x480?
well it cant make the gps get signals faster which seem to be
what a lot of people complain about
I forgot about command line options
you can use
-800 -640 -480 for WVGA
-400 -320 -240 for WQVGA
Seems to be working a lot better on my X1 than version 2. No longer to I get the left over at the bottom.
sorry, but OFF TOPIC. can anyone recommend a GOOD GAME.i cant seem to find good ones for my hermes.
will i need this app for my hermes?
no hermes is not vga or wvga so it dont benefit from this program
about good games then really depend on what people think is a good game
as my granny dont feel that doom2 is a good game but others might

totally useless, I like it
Nice app!
Does what it says!
I haven't tried a bitmap yet, but I found two bugs allready:
On my TD2 when I slide on the topmost part of the screen it does not change the speed. It changes the direction of the screen. And if I scroll again on the same area then the app exits since the hotspots have changed...
Other than that, cool...

Downloaded..thanks..
But I don't know what do I suppose to do with it...
I think about dating a girl or confession
Very nice app... gonna geek some friends with nice words
Is there a way to get this to run from the programs list?
Gotta give this a shot.
well its totally useless but thats the joy of having a WM phone. will give it a shot. Nice work by the way.

THANKs .
What a unusefull app !
I've put it right away on my machine, and so did my other colleagues !
I've made a review on www.pocketpcfreeware.com

Sure. I'm a noob, but I will try this answer:
in file manager, when you are on the program name, select copy
Then go file explorer,(click up on bottom left till you see the windows directory) open windows, start, then program, and then
Click windows, start menu, programs, and then menu and paste (to paste the shortcut on that menu.
That's how I changed and removed all the crap that originally came on my Fuze.
(and I really do still consider myself a noob on my ppc.)
cheers, and (if I was wrong in a command, please be VERY gentle!)

Simple sinewave synthesizer triggered by an ordinary 12x9 step sequencer.
Similar to TONEMATRIX: http://lab.andre-michelle.com/tonematrix
Shamefully based on it, actually...
Bevoc hooked me into this...
To use:
--------
Just click or drag the finger to use.
Left/right/up/down to clear the screen.
Enter to exit.
Source-code in Flash CS3 included.
Enjoy
Needs:
-------
Flash 7.
No Widescreen support, sorry (it works, just not fullscreen).
Awesome!
cool! thanks twolf!
Nice - strangely addictive!
But I can't clear the screen unless i switch of each tone individually. Also, [enter] doesn't exit .. it just reduces the grid size. I have to use the hardware buttons to get back to the today screen in order to turn off ToneBox via the task manager.
Does this mean my flash player is the wrong version? How/where do i check the version i have?
That means you have flash lite and not flash 7.

Dude! I love tonematrix! I didn't know anyone else even knew about it!lol
dwizzy130
maybe you could make it colourful.
it would look cool with blinking colours.
This is great fun, thanks for making it.
I would like to put in a request for a WQVGA version to use on the Samsung Omnia. I know you posted the source code so it must be an easy fix, but I really don't have any knowledge of Flash.
It works well on the Omnia but it doesn't fill up the whole screen, so not only does it not look as nice as it could, but the buttons are harder to push.
Cheers.
thankssssssssss
Ahhh! I can't stop...i'm addicting man thanks!
some link love : http://www.1800pocketpc.com/2009/10/21/tonebox-simple-sinewave-synthesizer-for-windows-mobile.html
PLEASE put in in a cab!!!!! would be great to just be able to install it to the right place, especially as im always flashing my ROM.
just a suggestion for a next version - could you add an option to make a custom grid size? thats the one thing that always anoyed me about lab.andre-michelle.com/tonematrix
cant wait to see future versions! (if you decide to continue developing it)
Great work!
I wasnt thinking on any update, but i did left the hole 16 sounds in the FLA library, in case anyone wants to do the full 16x16 grid.
:/
Very nice app, to play a while with. And now in landscape mode. Then you have more space to make tones
Could someone possibly compile this for WVGA?
Would be much appreciated, by many I think.
so cool ~~
THANKS
Phone--T-Mobile USA HTC HD2, latest stock ROM, WinMo 6.5, Sense UI.
Thanks for the app.
Tonebox sometimes works for me, but other times (more often) it makes no sound at all.
Why?
The only way I can end the app is killing it with Task Manager.
Some suiggestions, besides fixing the bugs mentioned above--1)some kind of speed (tempo) control, to make it run faster or slower.
Documentation--to explain how to use it.
A button to click to end the app.
Midi file export would be nice.
And, of course, if it is a bug that causes it often not to make any sound on my phone, to fix that bug.
omg this is so cool !

Far has I know it is still in beta over there in China.... but I can not read chinese....
Here are some pictures!
I really like this keyboard it has always been one of my favorites ever sense the first beta last year. now they have made lots of changes and it is even better.
When you install it it will be in chinese. you will need to go to settings and switch it to english.
Looks nice. Downloading now.
EDIT: Just tried it out for a while. Verdict: It's great!
Once you turn off the Chinese language, the text prediction is great, and the buttons are quick and responsive. I like the option to have different layouts for portrait vs. landscape (even though I just use QWERTY for both). The edit button is top center, and very handy, since I came from a G1 and the Vibrant has no trackball/d-pad to edit words. One note though, the delete button in Edit deletes the next character, not the previous. Not a huge deal, since the backspace on the keyboard still deletes the previous character and you could just select what you need to delete in the Edit screen, just a weird change. If you don't know what I mean, try it out yourself, it's worth a try at least
I love that style of keyboard with the two letters per key (Like on my original Blackberry Pearl).
@Phromik
Yeah it is a great little keyboard. my favorite feature is being able to swipe to change from T9 to QWERTY

I am new to the Android side of XDA just picked up my Vibrant 2 days ago and loving it.............
My favorite too......one of the first things I downloaded to my Vibrant and seems to work pretty well just missing the ability to save passwords or url or email adresses (one click entry in the username or password box for websites is really slick and I miss that the most). It is still beta so we will see if they implement it later on.
Link not working... looks fun though

Um, why does the app need access to Contacts and Voice Recorder?
I ask, because we (in the I.T. dept) are being bombarded by Chinese malware and such.
The permissions do seem a bit excessive for a keyboard.
Requires these permissions:
Your personal information
read contact data
Network communication
full Internet access, view network state, view Wi-Fi state
Hardware controls
control vibrator, record a

Keyboards? Voice Input?

Having just spent $20 on 8 different keyboards and trying various 'free' keyboards as well, Im wondering what you all find works well for the Note.
Right now, I find Better Keyboard 8.9.9 on the Amazon Market ($3) the keyboard that is working well for me, primarily because it extends the size of the 2nd and third row keys to fit the phone's width which makes the keys easier to hit. All the settings are stock except I disabled auto correct as it keeps changing my abbreviations to words I dont intend (bldg for example keeps getting changed to either bulldog or another word that is slipping my mind).
Supposedly Swiftkey has very good text prediction which might be interesting but I havent used it enough yet to know. Not yet sure the difference between the tablet version ($3) and the phone version (free) nor do I know which I should use for the Note. My assumption is the $3 version would offer more than the free version but I havent had a chance to look at it.
Of course, one of the other things about the keyboard stuff is that it requires using for a few days to determine if a keyboard is working for you.
Im also looking for a good speech to text app, it needs to be something I can select from the keyboard when it appears - ie. clicking the little microphone in the corner on whatever keyboard appears (not sure if Android lets you use a custom keyboard and change the voice recognition app from Google Voice to something else). It is important to be able to toggle the voice recognition from the keyboard as I am using some custom software on my Android phone for work that requires me to do text entry, the app does not support anything other than a keyboard meaning that I want to bring the keyboard up, tap the mic in the corner, say what I need to and have that automatically put into the field. Google Voice is ok but Im wondering if there isnt something better.
My favorite by far is the tablet Swype beta. Some people find the keys to be too small, but I find that it works great for me, and my fingers are fat. Also, using the spen makes it the fastest and most accurate text entry method I have used by far. It also includes speech to text through dragon dictate, which can be activated by the key on the keyboard and is very accurate, more accurate than the stock android voice recognition in my opinion. Here is a picture of the keyboard:
