Ok here I come to save the day... The reason you are getting that error message is because you have a locked G4. From what you have said already, It sounds like you have T-Mobile and unfortunately, due to DOC right protection on all of our devices, you need to perform some kind of unlock on your device or work around it. I believe that G4 CID unlocking has been almost perfected but I can tell you 2 other ways to flash your device.
On the grander scale, here are all 3 known ways to flash your G4 device.
First and formost, shelltools is a very common and most heavily used way to flash a G4 device. It extracts the OS from the Rom and then flashes it to your device and afterwards, you need to hard reset your device and what do you know, you have WM6.
The second way to flash a Rom to a G4 device is to use SoftSPL. SoftSPL temporarily patches the CID on your device to think it is CID unlocked and allows you to flash a new Rom to the device as if it were in fact permanently unlocked but this is only a one time go. Each time you want to change Roms, you have to flash back to your carriers official Rom and then run SoftSPL again with the new Rom of your choice.
Third and finally, I mentioned above that they have managed to permanently CID unlock G4 devices but I am not sure if they managed to perfect it yet. I also have not tried this method before because I had to have a handset exchange and ended up with a G3.
Don't take this personally, but you really need to do alot of reading before you dive into the world of Rom flashers because from the sounds of what you wrote above, you don't know enough about flashing Roms yet and that makes it really hard. Trust me, I was in your shoes before.
Just hang out in the G4 forum for a while and read as much as you can and when you feel comfortable with what you are about to do, then give it a try. I really don't want to see you screw up your phone and brick it, but I do want to see you succeed in the Rom flashing world so for your own sake, read up. Here are just a few threads that you really should check out before trying to so something you're not sure about.
[solution] G4 SoftSPL Flash any ROM to CID locked G4 [UPDATED]

Hard-SPL - or how to CID unlock your device

No problem... It was my pleasure. You should give 1921 a try. It's its rights newest version and is supposed to be much better. I read the whole thread and one major fix is battery life. A must for a Wizard user.

is t-mobile 2.26 ok for my kjam?

hi guys.i need your information.some people say before u flash your phone with any custom rom get the clean system with tmobile 2.26.i have i mate kjam.its g4 and cid unlock..can flash my phone t-mobile offical 2.26 rom.because i am not sure that offical rom is g4 or g3.i dont wanna brick my phone.thanks your information and help
Don't flash T-Mobile 2.26 on a G4.... It contains IPL/SPL and will brick your device!
thank u
thanks for your valuable information my friend.so people are giving me wrong advice.what should i do? how can i get right rom and latest ipl/spl for my imate kjam to make my system clean?maybe from xxx.clubimate.com ?thanks your help my friend.thank u
You should read allot before flashing your device, make sure you know what your doing when flashing the first time. You cannot touch/upgrade IPL/SPL on a G4, but it isn't necessary! You can still flash new roms into it. Start here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
You also tell your G4 is CID-unlocked. Have you payed for it at imei-check? If not.... it's still CID-locked! There's a difference between SIM and CID-lock.
g4 kjam and cid unlock
yes.i paid to imeicheck.co.uk.i am sure my kjam all ready cid unlock.because this is not first to flash my kjam.i flashed before.(orginal kjam rom to faria 3.3 than to wm6 mb edition than to faria wm6 realthing than to x-plore 1.1 and now i am using faria wm5 3.3 4mb page pool)...now i am not sure how clean my kjam is?if ipl/spl update is not necassarly which you sais it's ok no problem.but i have some problem with my phone,i tried almost all task managers,i couldn't get good performance.i am having freezing problem.memory leaking problem etc...i thought maybe i must flash my phone some offical phone, but u said u cant use t.mobile or other...imate offical rom is very old version and useless and too slow..now i dont know what must i do?what should i do?thanks your help my friend.
I see! It is possible to got back to an official rom by recooking the rom without IPL/SPL. Here is explained how to do this:

thank you

Another ROM "UPGRADE" question

Hey all, this is NOT a "howz to git to Windowze Mobiil 6.!!!!" post, but rather a question about "upgrading" a ROM. I am currently running TNT's Windows Mobile 6.1 Proffesional ROM, and I have just learned that there is any upgrade to that particular ROM, and would like to know if I can safely upgrade to it from WM6.1, or do I have to downgrade back to the Love ROM and then upgrade again. Heres my device history if it helps:
Device=Cingular 8125, SIM Unlocked(using Lokwiz 3.0)
Original ROM=Cingular WM5.0
Current ROM=TNT WM 6.1 V1
Heres how I upgraded it originally:
Got it home, used the HardSPL method to make my IPL/SPL 2.26.XXXX(so my device IS a G4), tried to upgrade to WM6.1...no luck. Discovered that you have to upgrade to the LOVE ROM first, so I tried that...again, no luck. So I then used the SoftSPL.exe to temporairily CID unlock my device I guess, and then proceeded to upgrade to the LOVE ROM, then to the TNT WM 6.1 V1 ROM.
Now, my device is working fine, and I would just like to know if I CAN upgrade to the new V2 ROM, and if what I did to get this far is correct. ANy help is appreciated!

My opinion is that flashing the LOVE ROM was a unnecessary step. I never do anything like that before changing ROMs (flashing a stock ROM and the like)
That almost answers your question except that having used SoftSPL your CID block is still locked and SPL knows it so you must either:
1- Flash SoftSPL before flashing the TNT
2- Flash the HardSPL to not worrying about it ever again when wanting to change ROMs (my option - if i had a G4)
hope it's clear
cheers
PS:
Use WST to check if you SPL is HardSPL'ed or not with "Device Info" option
"G4 SAFE" What does that mean???

I uploaded a rom with HTCLogo.nb+Splash.nb+OS.nb (I assume that because there is no IPL/SPL it should be safe for G4????)

As you can see from the pics only the IPL and SPL have versions depending on the DOC chip (G3 3.08 in this case )

Thanx So much!

Need a little help please.

I just bought a used 8125. The device was suppose to be standard, but when it arrived it had WM 6.1 custom rom from newbie1221. I also noticed that it is a G4.
IPL 2.1.0001
SPL 2.1.01ip
So is it safe to assume the device is CID unlocked?
Is it safe to flash This Romas it doesn't include ipl/spl?
How will the UK radio work since I'm in the US? My current Radio version is 2.25.11
How can I tell if it's wwe?
It says it's WM 6.1 but I'm confused by this
5.2.19199 build 19199.1.0.0 (AKU 1.0 )
OS: 11.0.1.0 << as you know, 11.x.x.x is for TNT Series or based on

Does this mean it's not 6.1?
Please be patient with me it's been a while since I've had WM device. The wiki helped me a lot.
Heya man, welcome to the fold....you can tell if your device has WM6.1 on it by going to START->Settings->System->About, and at the top is will say OS:Windows Mobile 5.0/6/6.1, depending on what you have. Since your IPL/SPL is already Olip'ed, then yes, your device IS indeed CID unlocked....but if you havent done so already, I would download the excellent Wizard Tool availible up here at XDA-Dev and SIM unlock your device aswell. To answer your other question, you should be fine with flashing a different rom, as long as it DOES NOT contain an Extended ROM partition OR IPL/SPL.
No, G4 is always CID locked, regardless you used HardSPL or not (HardSPL only tricks the RUU program, you can always check the CID lock status using WST)
Yes, it's safe to flash any ROMs that doesn't include IPL and SPL.
For the Radio, all Radio ROMs has support for all GSM modes supported by Wizard hardware, just try to see if it gives a better reception.
TNT roms are always WWE (you can see the screenshots, it is always WWE if it is an English ROM)
5.2.19xxx is WM6.1 ROM. TNT used its own versioning in ROM, so don't count on that.
So all that HardSPL'ing a device does is trick the RUU? Didnt know that, I thought that it actually "unlocked" the phone, like we do over in the excalibur forums lol
starkwong is absolutely correct and I endorse it!
Thanks for all the help. I downloaded WST it shows it was Sim unlocked but I have no way of testing. WST shows that the phone is HardSPL. When I try to flash any Roms I get a Error 300 message. So I used the RUU MUN worked perfectly. The phone is my wifes & she is very happy. Thanks again for all the help. The Wizard may be old but it runs great.

Using softspl to flash RADIO ROM possible ? or what

FOR THE NON EXPERT USERS like me this is not a tutorial it's a question i wanna know if it's possible , cuz it's logicly possible
G4 G4 G4
i wannted to mention that i think from reading that the soft spl and hard spl is the same but the soft spl every time i flash i have to use and i don't think that it is hard or boring so
tell me experts what will happen to my G4 k-jam if i did this
copy the nk.nbf from the RADIO rom and put it in the soft spl folder like we do in Regular Roms to flash it
the nk.nbf from the rom only has a gsm i checked no spl or ipl or extrom or os or splash nothin just gsm
so what will happen to my runing rom TNT 19209 pro
i wanna know if it will addition the gsm only or it will brick my Wizard
Its probablly going to corrupt your current ROM. It wont brick your Wizard exactly, but youy wont be able to start your device....thats what happened to me when I tried something similiar anyways.

thx for respond in my stupid posts and i'm sure u think that i'm just noob and don't accept any new ideas my proplem that i just want to leave my spl and ipl the way they r
by the way
i can solve my proplem by flashing an imate official rom but i'm afraid to do that
cuz it have all spl and ipl and os and every thing and waht i should do to flash just open the exe downloaded file and proceed or what
a stupid question as useual da the official roms require a cid unlocked device in g4 or what and is there is any way that the official rom can be harmfull to my g4 Wizard
if this official is great for me and not harmfull it has a radio version that works fine with me after i flash the official rom i 'll soft spl to tnt again but this time with the old radio that works for me
what do u say ?
Yes, you can use SoftSPL to flash a new GSM ROM to your phone.
No, there's no way an official ROM can hurt your phone. They check your hardware and flash appropriately. For best results, stick to the original provider's ROM.
There's no reason to be concerned about leaving your IPL SPL unmodified. Even if you use HardSPL, you can still revert back to an official ROM, after removing HardSPL.
If you do a HardSPL, you can flash pretty much anything that doesn't include IPL/SPL, including new boot screens, new radios, and almost every recent ROM in the Wizard Mobile 6 thread.
The phone must be CID-locked to flash an official ROM. If you used HardSPL, you would have to remove it (read the sticky-ed thread in the top of the G4 board) before going back to an OEM ROM. If you try to flash a G4 with HardSPL in place, you risk bricking it.
The newer TNT-based ROMs do not (and should not) include a radio as part of the package.
Don't use older ROMs, they are less reliable, and more likely to brick a G4 than newer ROMs are. Use this thread to choose a good ROM after you flash back to the OEM ROM and HardSPL your phone. If you like TNT, you should probably use one of these versions.

Be carefull!
There are official pre-G4 ROMs, they do not contain a G4 IPL/SPL therefore a pre-G4 (G3-only) official ROM most certainly will brick your G4 device.
Several members have reported bricks due to this!
BTW soft-SPL was designed to flash anything, including Radio.

Just remove all the IPL/SPLs from the ROM.
No problem in flashing an stripped ROM.
Radio only flashing won't result in a corrupted ROM, but why with soft SPL?
Just flash hard SPL and feel the freedom of flashing with a RUU without using the sspl.

I know the feeling!
I was really nervous when I first tried to reflash the bootloaders, however radio and OS ROMs aren't critical.
If the bootloader still works in good order you should be able to recover from almost any mishap.
Good luck!

Orange SPV M3100 rom upgrade to WM6/6.1

my cousin has 2 orange spv m3100 and was thinking about upgrading them to windows mobile 6 or 6.1 depending on rom's available
is this easily done?
and would it be best to unlock the phone so it can go on all networks before the rom update or after it?
all advice would be great thank you
Upgrading your device's rom is quite easy after youve done it once, just check the wiki page, upgrading for beginners this should tell you all you need to know about flashing a rom for the first time.
Have fun
cheers scotty
we're guna havea play about with both of them next tuesday/wednesday when we're both free
maybe unlock teh sim so it goes any network aswell
another quick question
do you know if the latest rom on there for the orange spv m3100 is a wm6 build?
no there wasnt a wm6 released for the spv m3100 the actual newest orange rom is a update on wm5 it is in my uploaded file i think if you want to have a look, i used a cooked rom after hard-spl and super cid everything works fine and i have flashed quite a few roms.
Have fun
thanks
do you know of any wm6 roms for the spv?
or if i got the phone unlocked and used a vodafone sim in it would i be able to flash vodafone roms or would i still have to use the orange rom?
James, going to your original question, I've recently done this myself, and over the past week, i've flashed my phone numerous times, so its very easily done.
Just read the guides, and make sure your 100% confident that you've understood it, I did and i'm 100% happy with the outcome!
Thanks Greeee
did you flash a wm6 or a wm5?
cause it comes with a wm5, but wanna updte to a wm6
Tbh, I should've explained something...
My phone is the HTC Hermes 200, not the SPV M3100, although they are the same phone, mines not branded by any network.
It was shipped to me (Bought secondhand) as WM6.1, so all I did last week was updated the HardSPL and since tried a few roms.
I didn't have to use SuperCID, to unlock mine, as it was unlocked, but I do wish you well buddy, and word of recommendation, try not to use branded software on phones, as they bog them down with too much bloatware, stick with what you like.
If need be, I'll help where I can, but tbh, your in safer hands with everyone in here, as all I did was read the guides, and stuck to what was being advised.
The people here are good, which makes it so much easier to use!
cheers Greeee
well im thinking of getting it unlocked before i do anything to it anyway, when using roms without a specified carrier does that mean i can use any rom or is it best to stick with the operator specified?
if you super cid you device you can use any rom that has been cooked or from any carrier as it is basically a unlock for that a bit like a sim unlock. most people use the cooked roms by the chefs in the wm6 part of the forum where there are wm6/6.1 and 6/5 roms that have been cooked and have different features so you will probably have to do a bit of flashing and some looking around before you find a rom that is best suited to you.
If you have ne more questions just ask, Have fun
cheers again scotty
super cid, that easy to do?
just like flashing?
and could i sitll use any carrier rom even if i got someone at a shop to unlock my phone to any carrier?
super cid an sim unlocking is different to flashing i think i dont really remember
wiki on sim an cid unlock here
and a thread here
hope this helps and saves u paying to have it unlocked good luck
yer unlocking and super cid are dif to flashing
are super cid and unlocking the same you know?
cheers for the links, i'll try saving some cash now
no problem and they both come in the same program you just choose which one you want to do both.
Good luck
whats teh splbootloader thing what i been reading about?
it says you need to install that or something :s
do you mean hard-spl?
yer thats what i mean
you will need to flash version 7 2.10 after the sim and cid unlock this prevents your device from bricking if a flash goes wrong
cheers
so sim/cid unlock
then flash hard spl 7 2.10
then flash my rom?
