nice! I've recently updated to and am currently running dcd's custom rom but i'll definitely give this a run some time...

Looks nice
But as you probably have gathered from the PPCGeeks board there is a serious issue with the bluetooth drivers even in the 2.16 Sprint ROM.
Apparently dishe and sfaure03 have been working on porting the drivers from the touch but have been smacked down by someone at the site or somthing like that. Politics gets mentioned as the reason but I can't imagine what causes the guys over there to be unable to work together towards a solution. I have been running a ROM that has since been taken down that included fixes from sfaure03 that seem to work until I install an app that trys to use the network. Then the bluetooth turning off spontaneously issue seems to come back.
If you'd be willing to take a crack at porting the drivers/behavior of the touch to your ROM for the titan I'd love to give it a try. Perhaps dishe or sfaure03 can be of help.
Thanks.

It's not based off of the 2.16 sprint rom.

Thanks!
I'll give it a shot and let you know how it goes.

props on the work, loading it now

Theres a number of us all working on the issue, but another hand would always be great. Custel's rom is based on the alltel 2.14 core, which as of this moment will not take the Vogue Bt drivers properly. I've been working off and on for the last few days trying to determine why Vogue BT drivers drop into the 2.16 rom without a glitch, but cause numerous issues or outright failure to initialize BT or pair in any other 6800 rom. (2.09, 2.14, etc).
At the moment, I know the culprit lies in OEMDrivers somewhere, because an Alltel 2.14 with Sprint 2.16 OEMDrivers + Vogue BT drivers will run, initialize and pair BT, though has the same issues as just 2.16 with Vogue BT drivers. (side note, OEMDrivers from 2.16 on 2.14 causes some non-bt related issues, so it is not a workable solution anyways.)
If some of the guys here are willing to pitch in, I'd be happy to share the details of what I've uncovered so far. My hope with trying to get the Vogue BT onto the 2.14 rom is that we can eliminate the conflicts and issues by using a better base rom, if we can only figure out what the bare minimum necessary 2.16 pieces are.

is this in conjunction with the htc rom or a comp;etley new rom?

The files are gone......

v1.1 utilizing touch stack will be up tomorrow.

Comm Manager
I really like the comm manager. ROM seems very stable.

A new version will be up tomorrow with more features, faster, with a couple fixes.

Sweet Custel.
Can't wait to load this. So far it is as close to the ROM I would make if I actually had the skills to do so.
Thanks

I don't get it... why aren't people working together on this?
Right, right, lets all head different directions and hope someone finds the answer first...
Seriously, there's no prize at the end of the tunnel.

probably not working together because pzzzt over at ppcgeeks got all crazy on custels thread. that sucked. maybe just a misunderstanding. will try your rom tomorrow. also check out dev and hacking for more htc skins(calculator, htc album, htc ketpad and keyboard) which may be nice. cheers

Nice! I really like the Comm Manager. Is it available as a cab by itself?
Thanks

Best ROM for Titan

Any recommendations of which cooked ROM would be good for a Sprint Mogul aka Titan? I want to flash one that still has the live search bar on the today screen, I use it constantly and would like to keep it.
I have been testing multiple ROM's over the past few weeks and here's what my experience/opinion is. You can load any ROM and then download Windows Live since it's not included in cooked ROM's.
The 2.17 stock ROM loads up with approx 25mb free if you bypass the customizations. I don't run this one, it comes with too much crap I don't need.
DCD's clean ROM 1.5.7 loads up with approx 26mb free with the 1.40 radio. Very stable, and runs great.
DCD's alpha 2.17 based ROM loads with approx 26mb free with the 1.47 radio. Didn't seem as quick as the 1.5.7 and I experienced issues receiving calls with this ROM (had to press the answer button twice and sometimes three times). I have not run this ROM with the 1.40 radio but DCD thinks it may fix the issue I had with receiving calls. I had to soft reset with this ROM alot more than the 1.5.7. This ROM also changes the initial HTC logo that you see on a soft reset with the words "dcd's clean rom" below it. A minor issue, but I didn't like having that there.
Custel's 1.1 4MB pagepool loads with approx 28mb free on the 1.40 radio. This ROM is the quickest and most stable ROM I have ran. My only gripe, albeit a minor one, is that the data connection is named Alltel Wireless and resets itself to Alltel Wireless on a soft reset even if you change it. I use Sprint so it kind of bugs me, though it does not affect your data connection and you do not roam to another network.
I recommend using the 1.40 radio in lieu of the 1.47 radio with any ROM. I get a much better and more consistent signal with it.

Im going to try out Custels' ROM, so all I have to do is downlaod windows live and istall it on my phone? I really just want the search bar in the today screen, because then I edit the key to search google instead of live.
Yup, that's what I've done in the past. Trying to find a link for you...

Its not that hard, only gets complicated when adding stuff not already included in the buildOS packages. DCD put together a nice little list of commonly used options, you click what you want, hit go, run a script which creates your .nbh, and flash it!
Actually I was able to make one and then test it but just ended up removing hardspl and putting the official Sprint Rom back on until I could figure out how to make something better. The only questions I have now is how add OEMS to the kitchen and will OEMS made for Wizard Windows Mobile 6 ROMs work in this kitchen for the Titan?

wm6 oems are wm6 oems. gsm stuff might have gsm stuff. it will (probably) build, and then you can fix/tweak it from there. if it fails due to conflicts, you need to identify the files in question, and decide which of the two needs to go. an oem is just a cab laid out. if the cab would install on wizard or titan, its oem probably would.

Great to know. I will start building a new ROM in the morning. It's 12:27am right now and I have to get some sleep. I've been up for over 26 hours thanks to working 2 jobs. I'm off tomorrow though thanks to a huge ice storm blanketing the area I live in. Sucks to drive in but hell I needed the time off...
I honestly believe Imcokeman's Clean alltelwm5 rom is the best. It boots with 28-29mb and is way stable. I haven't had one crash for 2 weeks. Thats saying a lot (for the titan lol).
I love DCD's 1.6.8 Rom over the stock rom. i have verizon.
it is very clean and i love the memory and speed on it. it feels faster than the stock as well and i do not know why i waited so long. doing the upgrade was a bit scary at first.
Some Points:
*All the skins look smoking hot compared to the default skins, The dialer is highly functional now, almost like the spb mobile shell dialer but without the bloat or memory waste.
*i didnt even have to do a *228 to program the phone after the rom update, everything just worked, email sync, text messages, get and make calls and internet.
*27.76 megs ram free after soft reset, i bet i would have more if i used a memory releasing program like oxios hibernate. 1.71.36 megs of storage free. that was more free than i had total before for internal storage.
*it has lots of tweaks pre-applied. like the text message sent confirmation turned off. the audio volume increase tweak, the 5 meg page pool.
*very polished feel, more so than the stock rom
*faster than the stock rom. i would say 50% faster? hard to gauge, but i notice it is speedier.
I have not tried custel's rom or any other rom's, installed this one and was very happy with it.
I've recently downloaded DCD kitchen and love it. I've also starting using OEMizer and making my own ROM's. It's a lot of fun and addicting. DCD Rom's seem to be the best for me. I like the clean approach and it gives me the option to install what I want and customize my phone. The other ROMs include to much stuff I don't find useful.

Update on DCD 3.0.2 kitchen? hello

well, this is for dcd and or anyone working with him. any idea when you are going to release a 3.0.2 version?
I'm sure you are working on fixing some of the bugs found in the 3.0.1 version. i am not like the ppcgeeks kitchen due to the fact that we cant costumize it like we can yours. i like what i have done with yours and cant wait for an update.
for example...
1. i like how i can go into the option file and change the "true/false" so that it is always set to what i want when i cook a rom.
2. i like how i can edit your sys/dcd to give myself a little more "codyppc" settings
3. i like how i can edit the initflashfiles.dat OEM/OEM_Lang_0409 folder to get ride of the office in start menu.
4. i could go on and on.
there is nothing wrong with the ppcgeeks kitchen, it's just not my kitchen. once you get use to something it just grows on ya.
Thanks dcd (and who ever else is helping you if there is)
if you are like me.... reply back so dcd knows we love him.

You know what's wrong? Its by a Red Wings fan!
I went to the Columbus/Detroit game on Sat.. worst.. hockey game ever for Columbus.. 4 shots on goal in the first period? Are you kidding me.. Maybe I should go back being a Rangers fan since I am from NY and living in Columbus.
Anyways, good job on the kitchen DCD.. I used a lot of your variations and can't wait to see what you have coming.
After having a few phone issues on 3.0.0, switched to 3.0.1 and all is good-- gps, bluetooth, wifi, email, MMS, PIE all great, with 20MB free. However, noticed today that there is an update to WM6.1 in the latest No2Chem build, so while there is nothing wrong with the current build, would like to see it keep getting better!

3. notification button action weird sometimes.
all of these have been mentioned in the 3.0.1 thread by more than one person. i have seen all of these as well. there were a few others but i dont remember.

These are all issues probably caused by people who don't really know what they're doing and flashing wrong, or not setting up their phones correctly. There's absolutely nothing wrong with 3.0.1...everything works perfectly, and there are tons of people who feel the same way.
Good work dcd
battery drain issues...
No2Chem's ROM's are great, but I agree that DCD is the BEST so I second the vote for a new DCD Kitchen off of the WM 6.1 5.2.19202.1.0.0 build.
battery drain issues?
my battery works fine. i can go 2 to 3 days without charging it, and i use lots of data and gps.... i don't know, maybe you guys have defective hardware or something...all i know is that if it's not draining everyone's battery, then it's not the kitchen.

Couldn't agree more. No2Chem makes great stuff and I thought it couldnt get any better until I tried DCD's kitched. Runs even more stable, and has more memory.
The only thing better than DCD's rom would be DCD's rom updated to the new build!
(I actually have no ideas what the new build does, but the version number has increased and therefor it must be better )

as far as customizable, the ppcgeeks kitchen is more customizable imo, and you can edit the option.xml just the same way as you can in dcd's.
DCD, everything looks great that you have done here. I have been unable to locate a tutorial or directions on how to install and use your kitchen. I was able to get the olipro 2.40 unlocker and sprint 3.35 rom installed on my altell ppc6800 last night but I accidentally let the sprint customizations run. I was able to get the locker and flash everything back to my altell oem rom and my phone works againl. Before I try again, is there already an altell rom that has been made by you or anyone else that should be run after I stop the sprint customizations from running or can someone point me in the right direction on how to actually use the kitchen to make my own that has all the software etc.. Thanks, mr.ellsworth
everything is flawless with my 3.01 build so far.
The only thing I'd like to see if what the difference is between 19199 and 19202, like a changelog or something
There may be a workaround, but HTC Task Manager (which is included with 3.0.1) does not close apps when the X button is pressed. Also, there is no "Quick Menu" on the Today screen even though that option is selected.
Anybody else having these problems with HTC Task Manager (v2.0.30995)?
Thanks!

DCD 3.2.0 breaks Vijay ToggleTodayAlphaII?

Love this new ROM, very sleek and fast.
But it broke an essential app! I can't seem to get rid of the bottom today bar.. after PMC TodayShrink / ToggleTodayAlphaII is applied the bottom bar just eats the pixels. Strange glitch.
As a disclaimer, I tried reflashing, hard-resetting, and redownloading the app cabs. IS anyone else having this problem?
If anyone can propose a registry fix I'll be grateful.
Cheers,
`N
yep same issue here.
probably related to the Task Manger issue and the new aku 1.2.0 shell...
It must be a change with the way the new shell reacts to the registry.. Hope this isn't broken forever, 'cuz I was getting to like the feel of this new ROM and having to revert to an older DCD just feels wrong.
WizBar Advance = no go. It's very broken.
Does it work in the 'official' release or is it just not working in DCD?
^^
Would someone using a Sprint ROM let us know?
I'm using the official ROM (well, not officially released by Sprint, but used DCD's download links) and its working normally for me.

Alltel Users - New Rom Posted on HTC

I haven't been on a while, my DCD 3.2.6 has been running as smooth as ever.
Just noticed tonight though that HTC has released the 6.1 upgrade for Alltel users. HTC PPC6800 WM6.1 / LBS Update – Version 3.52.671.9
Probably won't leave my 3.2.6 has it's running smooth, but the upgrades from the HTC site include:
1. Upgrades the operating system from Windows Mobile. 6.0 Professional to Windows Mobile. 6.1 Professional.
2. Adds the ability to use the internal GPS of the handset for advanced location services such as Alltel Navigation, an application that provides audible turn-by-turn directions and business listings.
3. Includes updates for network speed, allowing the phone to use EVDO Rev A networks.
4. Adds all enhancements included in previous software maintenance releases.
Just wondered if any Alltel users have tried it.

I am currently running it. As a matter of fact, I replaced DCD 3.2.6 with this one. It runs just as good and the GPS runs smooth. It also comes with ArcSoft 5.0.71.33. Alltel Navigation is the same navigation application most carriers are loading on thier phones (some version of TeleNav). Comes with a 30 day free trial and works good, but I will not pay the $9.95 a month to use it. When loaded, I have just as much free RAM as I did with DCDs ROM. I still like the work that DCD does, but I prefer a factory ROM if possible and so far this one gives me all that I was looking for.
interesting...thanks for your reply.
I've been running this for about a month now and it runs great!
Only bugs i've seen is sometimes when I get text messages I don't get the orange flashing light and it never vibrates...other than that it's pretty spiffy. I like the threaded txt messaging!

Battery life is amazing 2 days with some use of gps calls txt and still at 70%
hope dcd can help by breaking this to down to kitchen but wish to thank dcd
for making my titan usable until this release.
I have been using the Alltel Rom since the day it was released (actually had it a couple days before it was added to the htc site thanks to this site). Its very smooth and I really like the newer arcsoft. So much easier to send texts. You can reply to Picture msges with a txt without leaving the msg box and creating a new one.
Very stable I have had no errors. It runs Skyfire a lot better as well.

there is a setting under start menu>settings>sound and notifications, and select new text message in the drop down menu. it gives you options like flash LED or vibrate. that'll get it back for yaa
Thats enabled....most of the time it works like it's supposed to but sometimes it doesn't. Havent been able to figure it out yet. Maybe I just need to clear the few thousand txt msgs out hehe.
i thought you Alltel boys might want to know this. I'm fairly familiar with one of Alltel's engineer. He looked at my titan for about 30 minutes a few days and looked at some screens i've never seen. Now i'm not saying all phones on 3.2.6 are not Rev.A compatible, but i know the Alltel ones aren't. He said the "alltel people" were very familiar with DCD, NoChem, and other Roms and respected their work.
for some reason though he said their roms didn't enable Rev.A on the alltel network. This new ROM that they have out does...it shows up as rA on the phone instead of EV. Just thought you'd want to know.
To show you how much i love 3.2.6, i will still probably stay with it. It's the most stable ROM i've run, and i'm well appreciative of DCD's work on this stuff.
I'm running DCD now, but can someone tell me what version ARCSOFT was included with this official alltel rom??
THank you!

Just out of curiosity, what are the advantages of Rev.A over EV?

I'd say that is incorrect as long as you have the correct radio.

The new Alltel official ROM comes with ArcSoft version 5.0.71.33. Lots of other changes too. I was running DCD 3.2.6 and decided to check out the new ROM from Alltel. It runs great with plenty of free RAM (around 17MB). It has the GPS enabled and comes with TeleNav, but I am using AmazeGPS.
Well....I'm running DCD now but I can't forward txt messages to multiple people...I am running that version of arcsoft as well. Looks like im going to go back to the official rom..No one seems to have any solutions to my issue..
ArcSoft 5.0.71.33 working great wanted to play so broke it down to a kitchen
added manila 2d and still run around 17mb free great rom excellent GPS
with Garmin XL if you would like to try the kitchen i made message me and i will share for beta testing purposes only not responsable for ant damage.

Yup.
Has anyone here managed to extract the Radio and flash it with working results?
I've been trying to do this myself and it flashes fine (via MicroSD) but then I get No Radio.
I'm using Dutty's NBHTool to extract it from the Special file, then making a NBH of the Radio only...
Anyone?

you say it's incorrect as you know from experience. Funny you say that. i have dcd 3.3.4 now and i was in Raleigh Durham with my office phone that we just installed the new official alltel ROM. He was running rA and i'm still on EVDO. Doesn't matter as much because i love dcd roms, and like i mentioned, i would assume one of alltel's top engineers might know a little bit more.

Did you actually test out the connection at speedtest.net?
If your uplink is over 200k, then you are revA regardless of what the screen says. Put another way, have you determined whether this is a display issue or an actual issue?

not sure about this one...i guess just in listening to the Alltel engineer (that actually runs alot of DCD and other cooked roms) he said he wasn't truly Rev.A. Just repeating what he said.

New Touch Pro - Requesting Help!

Hi all!
I'm picking up a hopefully gently used Touch Pro tomorrow to replace my HTC Mogul. Very excited to have some extra RAM to work with, as well as the capability to try out all of these great ROMs.
As I have no experience with the Touch Pro, I am hoping you all can tell me what Radio and SPL I will need to begin my journey, and hopefully where to find them!
If you can offer any additional advice about this phone, any tips, tweaks, or general recommendations, I'd be very appreciative.
Thanks in advance!
I forgot to add that I'm going to be on the Sprint network!
Anyone?
I found the unlocking guide above which includes info on obtaining a HardSPL version. I hope this is the best one available.
I have not been able to find any information about updating the radio of the device so it works best with Sprint.
Hopefully someone can shed more light on this for me.

You should have everything you need on my guide. As far as radio, what you could do is after unlocking the device, flash a Sprint stock rom (the latest available), which will likely have the latest radio that Sprint released as well. Once you have flashed this package, simply flash another rom (whichever one you like) on top. The radio will remain the same and only your rom will change. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to find more for our device on another popular forum. It seems that XDA has more of a GSM focus for the Touch Pro. I appreciate your guide as it has helped me expand my knowledge of the device. I feel like I'm all set now.
I did the same thing a few months ago. There is everything you could ever need to unlock and flash to what ever rom you want. After flashing just about every rom here, my problem is that I want to combine about 3 different roms to make the one I want, The only problem is I have no idea how to use a kitchen or build a rom hahahaha.

YO MAN!!!
Glad you were able to find everything you needed. Holler if you need anything else, we here and over at PPCG are always ready to help someone else... Just remember, there will always be nOObs out there and it never hurts to share the knowledge you have received.
Take care man.
EDIT 1: To the post above mine, try PPCKITCHEN.org... if you are not sure how to cook a rom, this kitchen is made for people with little to no experience... Experiment with it, build your own rom with your own options. Just make sure you do the update first...(it takes forever for the update to complete.) There are also other kitchens out there, but this is the one I first started out with. (Sorry for advertising other sites...)

There are a LOT of issues with the rom kitchen for the Herman in PPCK. A lot of reports of roms simply getting stuck at the initial boot-screen. You can try Ervius or one of the newer Visual Kitchens. Good luck!

the pro is a good phone as long as you have a good rom.
i am currently using the new xxxRootRom which can be found on the ppcgeeks.com forums. i have tested about 6 - 8 different roms so far and found this one to be very stable and snappy.
maybe try a few so you can compare.
only thing i would recommend is to change the pagepool on the xxxrootrom because for some reason it was set to 6. change the value to 0 and you will be very happy with it.
hope that help.
New to Touch Pro (former Mogul User) - Many Issues - Verizon
I just got a new Touch Pro from Asurion as an insurance replacement to XV6800. I am not new to these forums and have, over the years, applied many hacks and flashed many ROMS to my Mogul.
I'm currently using the stock ROM from Vzn (full device details in my sig) but I'm experiencing too many issues to address in a single post perhaps, and I researched and tried many solutions for hours. My biggest issue is Bluetooth related.
I am using the Bluespoon Spider stereo headset which worked great on Mogul. On TP I cannot get any settings to not cause skips and lags on locally stored music playback. I use both Adv Config 3.3 and Total Commander to adjust bitpool Min/Max bitpool. sample rate, & audio gateway settings. The best I've gotten is clear, mostly uninterupted music with the TP sitting in my lap, BUT if I turn my head to the right (the AVRP controls are in the right earpiece) I get serious skips & lags. I used to go about 100 ft clearsight from my Mogul before experiencing drops! Now with TP a matter of inches and my own head blocks the signal?
Anyone else experince this issue? What are you best results with BT seeings? I remember dumping M$ Bluetooth Stack for Widcomm's on Mogul and that made all the difference - can I / should swap out stacks on the TP? My headset won't even properly coonect, I must continually choose "set as wireless stereo" each time I turn on BT.
As for players, Ive used WMP, HTC player and S2P all with the same poor results. I hate that with TouchFlo 3D off, WMP insists on opening and assuming control of AVRP (play/pause/next) features. I tried one hack to break that and it nearly bricked my phone and it caused my SD card to become unreadable AND unformattable. I'll address that in the proper forum
I was so psyched about getting the Touch Pro, but I think I'm gonna have to cook the pants of the stock ROM. Any help with my bluetooth issue woud be greatly appreciated.
