help needed: new bootscreen for our Atom - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom ROM Development

I want to change the 3 bootscreens of our Atom, but I'm not good at photoshop nor designing. Any helps from you are appreciated.
1.The pictures' size must be 240px x 320px x 96dpi, in both .bmp and .png
2.It should contain the text "Atom" for our unique devices.
3.One more thing, Atom is not from HTC so I think we don't need the HTC logo
The credit will come to the most beautiful chosen one.
Thank you so much......................
I really need your helps, please......................................
Below is the picture from jiggs' rom, which is the second bootscreen. Maybe what I talk above is not clear about the size of the picture so you can find some infos about the picture yourself

thanks, I saw them b4, but the screens were too black, and they are in .png not in .bmp. I tried to convert them to .bmp but they have a white lign at the left and bottom of the screen when Atom reboots.
If you can just convert and rename them as BootScr.bmp and put one of them into \windows you will have the new second bootscreen.
btw, more details about our bootscreen at the first post
thanks

[TUT] OEM Building

HOW To Make an OEM
Here is the tutorial for building an OEM, so, of course it can be used for any device,.
nb: try it at your own risk,.
OEM folder used as the place for any application that would be a default ROM application.
Here is step by step,.
1. Download & Install Hypercore Kitchen
2. Open Hypercore and go to panel/extra/CAB Analiser,.
3. Open or Drag and drop the .cab files that you would make it an OEM,.
4. Choose "XML" display then extract all cab files to a new folder,.
5. Go to "Registry tab", then copy all the registry setting from there, and paste to a new blank document
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
6. The registry setting is absolutely unusable, to make it usable, it must be edited like this,.
(Before edited)
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\WM5torage_Class]
"ActivateFlags" = dword : 00000000
"DeviceName" = ""
"NLEDWrite" = dword : 0000FFFF
"NLEDRead" = dword : 0000FFFF
"idVendor" = dword : 0000045E ---------------------------------------> There is a space between "=" and "dword", its Wrong,.
"ReadOnly" = dword : 00000000
"Dll" = %CE1%\WM5torage\WM5torage.dll --------------------------> It have only one slices, its wrong,.
"Product" = "Windows Mobile Device"
(After edited)
REGEDIT4 -------------------------------------------------------------------> There must be REGEDIT4 at the TOP
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\WM5torage_Class]
"ActivateFlags"=dword:00000000
"DeviceName"=""
"NLEDWrite"=dword:0000FFFF
"NLEDRead"=dword:0000FFFF
"idVendor"=dword:0000045E ------------------------------------------> Take a look at this, there should be no spacing inside the registry,.
"ReadOnly"=dword:00000000
"Dll"=%CE1%\\WM5torage\\WM5torage.dll -------------------------> If the keys are pointing to somewhere else, it must be two slice like this,.
"Product"="Windows Mobile Device"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------> Leave one line empty at the BOTTOM,.
7. Generate GUID Name, (The generaor could be downloaded HERE)
8. Okay, save it in UNICODE encoding, using (Generated GUID Name).rgu
9. Make another blank document, and rename it with, (Generated GUID Name).dsm
(The generated GUID name between .rgu and .dsm must be the same)
10. Make a "initflashfiles.txt",. -------> (I give the tutorial below,.)
HOW To Make a initflashfiles.txt
initflashfiles.txt used to copy a file from specified location, to another specified location,.
Here is the step by step,.
1. Just make a new blank document
2. Save that document as initflashfiles.txt
What should you write inside initflashfiles.txt?? you should write this (below),.
The formula is:
Directory("DESTINATION FOLDER"):-File("DESIRED FILENAME","FILE SOURCE")
So, it will be like this,.
-------> Means that you want to copy the file named WM5torage.lnk in \Windows folder, to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\System folder,.
There you go, you have one working initflashfiles.txt now,.
--- Finally, make it in one folder, and give it a name, ex: OEM_WM5torage ---
NB:
That you have to remember when you build an OEM:
a. There must be REGEDIT4 at the TOP
b. Leave one line empty at the BOTTOM
c. Dont use Wordwrap view
d. Save with (GUIDname).rgu and use UNICODE encoding
GOOD LUCK,.
Happy ROM Cooking to all of you,.

Hi Garmin,
Thank you for the tutorial to make OEM. wonderful!
Your tutorial is good for standalone .exe files
but if you don't mind if i ask about cabs?
I have a question about cabs files:
how to input serial number into the cabs registry for programs Cabs that has serial activation? so everytime i install it.. it doesn't need to enter serial?
for example: i need to put "modified cabs" to extended rom. so it will install by itself every time i do hard reset.
Thank you garmin.

Every apps is different. So if don't know where a reg patch (sn. insert in registry), that's unable to create registry
Yup agreed with abusalza, every apps is different and they store their serial and reg key differently. i found some at the registry, and some on the file folder itself, some even encode them in the registry.
For me i key in the serial and search for it in the registry, den backup the key, and create cab for the registration and placing of ringtones and placing of shortcuts (for appz and games that installed on storage)
This ways saved me many hours when i will tryin to cook my own ROM or tryin out new appz
Just wanna thank Garmin for creating this thread and really helped me alot!!
thank very much bro!!!

I search by "first boot screen" and found someting from old post by someone.
this details.
I select modify at diskimage_Ver.nb0 file. It's easy modifying.
1.1st boot screen is black dragon on gold ray.
2. 2nd boot screen is BootScr.bmp. ====[black dragon on gold ray]
It's can use resco exploror replace after boot complete.
3.3th screen is show long time as 1st screen.
I use HitMan in Black color wallpaper. 3th file is welcomehead.96.png.
It's can use resco exploror replace after boot complete.
for 2nd and 3th image in \Windows and not flip
1st must flip vertical.
Please backup diskimage_Ver.nb0 before modify you boot screen.

becarefull, your xip module could be ruined, because the bootscreen want a place to be located either, if you port the 23x.456, it wont be bm6, but bm9 or 8,.
So, it will take place more than you think,.
you have to use some program like corel (adobe photoshop doesnt works easily for me)
then it will create 230.454,.
regards,.
Microsoft Paint works perfectly too save-as 24-bit bitmap.

[UTIL] PatchSplash v0.1 - flash custom splash screen w/o old splash at the bottom!

I noticed that the old splash screen when flashing a new one still exists occupying about 100 pixels below the screen (where the OS, radio info shows at startup). This has been a problem in the Diamond and Raphael devices. On my stubborness and experimentation I've fixed it (without disregard of bricking it! I thank rotohammer for this!)
So, here you go! Tested working in Touch Pro and Diamond! (thanks to Sevennl for the first one testing it on Diamond )
patchsplash v0.1
- supports Raphael and Diamond Splash screen
Instructions:
- do the steps from on how to change your splash screen from here:
for Raphael : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2709600&postcount=1
for Diamond (item no. 3): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2465195&postcount=1
- BUT, before doing step no. 5 (converting .nb back to .nbh file) run patchsplash
- usage: patchsplash.exe [R/D] <target .nb file> <output .nb file>
example for Raphael: patchsplash.exe R Splash.nb Output.nb
example for Diamond: patchsplash.exe D Splash.nb Output.nb
- continue packing it to to .nbh
- FLASH and DONE!
Correct file size of the final .nb file to be converted to .nbh should be 655360.
Want to revert back to original splash screens? I've extracted T-Mobile/Vodafone/HTC original splash screen for Raphael.
A SIMPLE DONATION OF THANK YOU's IS APPRECIATED. And of course, I'm not liable if you brick your phone
AT&T Splash from navyguy (thanks!) can be found here!

I need some sleep... zzzzzzzzzzzzz...
I would love to test but can i just ask, if i have a 480x640 splash screen i want to use, with your method the image will show up under the bottom 100px, or is that the wrong understanding.

no-- that is the current problem right now everybody is missing about 100px data at the bottom of their screen when flashing splash screens for Diamond and Raphael, but with the patchsplash it will fill up the missing data so it will have the true 480x640 splash screen What others was doing before is just have a black splash screen (with an original HTC splash) so it would "sort of" blend with the screen

so doing this would give me my full image (480x640), not the image minus the the last 100px and a black stripe?

I've check the Raphael and Diamond OEMs but it seems the person who uploaded the O2 orginal shipped ROMs didn't include the splash screen, so you might have to wait for a bit...
Can somebody explain me how this works (patch splash).
I think I do something rong, or it doesn't work...

You cant just click on the .exe in windows. You must enter the commands in a DOS prompt.
IE..
for windowsxp
Start/Programs/Accessories/Command Prompt
That should bring up MS-DOS. Then CD\(whatever folder the patchsplash.exe file is located in)
C:\(Whatever folder)\>Patchsplash.exe R splash.nb splash2.nb
Then continue packing to a .nbh file and flash it. All done.
OK, after some serious searching, I found an O2 Splash I built from back in my early Tilt days. I converted the original 240x320 .bmp to a 480x640 .bmp. Then ran the patchsplash.exe file to create a fully functional .nb file prior to building the .nbh file. I hope this is what you guys are looking for. If not, drop me a PM and I will see if I can find the exact file.
Included in the .zip file is the .bmp and the .nbh file. I have not included the ruu wrapper as I find it much safer and quicker to flash via SD card. Just rename the O2Splash.nbh to RAPHIMG.nbh and drop in your root directory of the SD card and enter bootloader.
I have also attached the .bmp file by itself in case it is not correct and you dont want to flash the .nbh file.
Enjoy.

Just replace the attached file into the Windows folder.
The original is also in the zip, as backup.
Only did it for portrait.

I didnt want to go on a rampage and ppl start asking icons for EVERY software out there... :/
These icons are all in vectorial, so they can be reused and resized easily, just drag the attached swf to a I.E. Windows and zoom in, or import the SWF to any adobe software.
The start menu files are transparent PNG inside the Windows folder.

Post in your findings...
Thanks Twolf for your great work.
Installed your tool and it works fine.
I also installed Titanium weather. To do the settings was easy. But if i type the zip code of my city in germany, the plugin gets wrong weather datas, i think. I believe, that it gets datas from US.
How can i type the right zip code, so that the plugin understands, its a code from germany?
Thanks and greets
Pinotage - you need to go to the accuweather site and do a lookup for an international city. You'll then get the code - for example: London is EUR|UK|UK241|LONDON
Put that in instead of a zip
rom
So many WM 6.5 Rom's i cant decide which to try, any recommendations as to which is best
Kieran
This is from NemanjaLO
The start menu order is held in the reg key:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start"
The Rank value determines the order.
Either set this when you build a ROM or export this to a .reg file once you've got it how you want it so that you can re-import it after re-flashing.

Thanks, yes it is, it works fine on wm6.5, just one thing, never close the start menu.... or it wont open again untill you reset. If you open it and want to close, just press the TODAY icon....
Havent figured out yet what exclusion to add on WKtask or how to have a transparent icon bar. :/
Is there any way to get transparency bars in manila2d?
I have found little bug: if manila was started by manila-control, it got transparency bars.
But tapping on start menu will change it back to classic one

yes works for me,too...but it has no transparancy.... in your screenshot it seems to be transparent
ahh ok i see it you just got an lightly tsk-theme so it seems to bee transparant.... would be nice if u or someone else got it glassy
Another tip:
To reorder the start menu icons you can press and hold to send a icon to the top (not extremely helpfull, but its a START), also, after you reorder them as you want, you can backup that order by exporting the regkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start.
Not really a trick or tip but could be usefull for some people!
I have my hands on a WM6.5 ROM for german users! More infos will be ready as soon as possible!
animelover, I will make love to you when this really happens )
Hoi twolf
Thanks for your tips and tricks they are very helpfull, I've just have a small problem I'm trying to use your startmenu_grid scene but I get an error about copying file and acces is denied, is there another way to use ure grid_scene ?

I use resco explorer that bypasses those errors, you can force the overwrite with a cab file, but Resco is the way to go for future problems...
Themes and tsk
Here's a link for qVGA themes for WM6.5:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=499611
The tsk can be opened with WinCE Cab Manager (commercial program), and the images replaced easily for new looks. Unfortunately, you cannot bundle custom pngs for the buttons, titles etc in the tsk, and it needs to be added separately.
A couple of other threads for themes (mostly VGA ):

Only EXT package if someone wants to make a cab your welcome
After the feedbacks from the diamond keyboard to qvga I never will make a cab again
Mediafire download link
the original idea of the skin came from the RR33 HTC Sense like dialer skin(but it only skined the dialpad)
Ok we need some more info:
this dialer is only portrate (can rotate but no dialing in landscape)
this dialer has video dialing (there is no conference call)
this needs to be cooked into a rom to work as it should.
WVGA version
And here is the WVGA version I'll add some screens later tonight if I find the time
Topaz Hero Dialer 3g
could maybe use this one too
It's cool, thanks man, i will try
There's no landscape support for this dialer right?
Would really like to try a cab... is there anybody willing to cab it up please? Thanks gullum!
thanks for your great work......but i've got a little problem (see picture)
awesome work mate i would cab it up if i knew how to
just curious, is anyone able to port this to WQVGA?
cheers gullum!

ported just from topaz? what about from TP2 ? Just for a landscape mode
would this work on a cdma vga touch pro?
It doesn't have conference call, right?

EDIT: I went ahead and:
1) Compressed all images and all images inside phcanimages.dll
2) Signed all .dll files (wouldnt install without signatures)
3) Cabbed it all up
5) Edited phcanrc.dll to remove scrollbars
5) Uploaded to my FTP with direct link There is also the uncompressed unsigned cab there which is 14MB compared to 8MB
HERE is the link. I can host for a few weeks, but will most likely remove after that. If Someone needs the uncompressed version let me know and I will sign the dll's and upload again the cab.
DONT FORGET: When installing you need to kill phcanvga.exe and cprog.exe first
EDIT2: Also, I remove phcanoverbmp.dll because most ROMs have this already and it will mess up custom taskbars if overwritten. You can get it attatched to this post.
EDIT 3: Reuploaded corrected cab as per the following few posts.

Let me know if it works ok. I tested on my own cooked ROM installing over the LEO 2G dialer without issue. Just want to make sure it works ok for others(although I am sure there will be a few who "just can't get it" )

Let's say I nearly got it... Unfortunately, I got my custom taskbar nearly wiped out. However, you can see my specs in sign. I'm running Amarullz's WM6.5 position fix (not Showcase, but previous version with no task manager function), which works perfectly even for Resco2010.
I'm attaching screenshot, I've installed modded Amarullz Rhodium dialer, aluke's rev.6 taskbar (and position fix), if that matters. However, thank you so much to both creator and cabber, dialer is even opening Sense contacts and automatically got Italian translation.
EDIT: sorry I changed the screenshot (cause it contained personal infos... ), so I pointed out the issue with red boxes.
Guess I didnt remove phcanoverbmp.dll after all. I will update the cab for others. You could uninstall and reinstall to get taskbar back(after I update the cab which I will do now), or go to windows and delete phcanoverbmp.dll(assuming your taskbar is a cooked in feature), and it will return to the file build into ROM.
The other issues I believe are due to the phcanvga.exe program(it shows the SIP menu area in a fixed size or something). The empty area on the right was not like that when I tested it, is that always there?
EDIT: Reuploaded cab without the phcanOverbmp.dll and am attatching the file to original post for those that need it.
