Here's a cooked XV6800 ROM for VZW - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Here is a Verizon ROM cooked by me.
OEM taken from official ROM 2.09.605.8 (vzw).
Drivers are from officlal ROM 2.17.651.0 (sprint). BT drivers are from Sprint Vogue.
The bluetooth sound, alarm, and keyboard issues that may be present in the stock vzw rom should be resolved.
Newer WM6 OS:
CE OS 5.2.1622 Build 18128.0.4.4
Added Windows Live and a few of my reg tweaks
Removed Autoupdate, SQM
Changed to 5mb pagepool
Will not automatically run extrom
~26mb free at boot (after a min)
OS only. This ROM will not upgrade your radio.
Radio 1.40.00 may be used to upgrade separately.
You must install Hard-SPL (unlocker) before flashing this ROM.
I threw this together in free time. I will not support it, I will not update it, I will maybe never look at this thread again. I hope it works well and you like it...if not build one with a kitchen!

probably that the xip/kernel (CE OS 5.2.1933) is not matched to the appropriate SYS files (Build 18533.0.7.0)
this is not a hybrid build. lets please keep this thread on topic, if you have questions about other roms ask it in their threads, thanks.

I am very sorry.
I am completely new to this and have not been able to find anything that is resemble a guide for beginners or anything to explain various terms etc.
But my phone is VZW XV6800. Is it ok to install new radio rom along with this rom for VZW Titan or do I need to wait for one made special to it? (verizon)
Thanks

no problem. you just have to search alot this is a rom made specifically for your verizon XV6800 device. any titan rom should work, but this is verizon's ROM, with its OS version upgraded. you should be able to install radio 1.40.00 as well.

Is this kind of B-T fixed ROM avalable for Telus P4000
I DCD. May be i've not done enought research before asking but is this kind of ''Upgraded'' Rom is avalable for P4000. I did'nt flash for a custom yet waiting for an official kitchen, 'cause this Rom work very fine altough for B-T freezing issue. It's the only reason why i had to soft reset in 6 month never crash for memorie over-use. So If an easy way to fix (change) the blue-tooth driver in the stock ROM, already existe. It's a good way to wait for an official kitchen....
Thank for understanding....;-)

This oughta make quite a few of the XV folks happy! Good job!

you could build a bt-fixed telus rom with my kitchen... but if i get time, ill do the same i did here for you guys on telus.

Is it not different signals for my carrier with radio driver? Have Verizon improve their radio driver compared to the sprint mogul anyway? I'm so confused...
What are the benefits of dropping my VZW radio for this 1.40.00 radio driver? Is it really safe to use on a VZW phone?
Thanks again
Hiromitsu

radio 1.40 is safe to use. its just newer. i believe we first saw it with the 2.14 ROM. verizons XV6800 came with 2.09. its up to you whether you want to flash the radio. all htc titan devices are cdma and use the same cdma radio, 1.40.00 is a software version for the radio.

Oh, that is very nice. Thank you for the information about this dcd and thank you for the delicious meal that you have prepared. I will go find Radio 1.40.00 now, thank you very much.
Hiromitsu

Flashing now thanx dcd...
Ehh: Decided to try your latest kitchen..

thank you much dc. anyone have a link to the shipped verizon rom? just for safty if anything.

Why always remove Transcriber? Its nice to have handwriting recognized, dont you think?
What is Autoupdate and SQM?
Isn't 8mb pagepool said to be better tradeoff?
Thanks!

Transcriber is device-specific and so I could include the original aku0.2.3 files, but I just left it out, as I cant bring over the 0.7 version. (I think)
Autoupdate=Windows Update
SQM=Customer Feedback, Customer Experience
I've tested pagepool sizes and 8mb is faster, but I found 5mb to be the best tradeoff. an 8mb pagepool would severely decrease your available ram, and hardly give a noticable performance increase. Alot of people like 4mb as well.

Oh I see, that's a pity. I wonder, there is no way to get this Transcriber out of my own device for to have hadwriting recognition? That would be ideal, I think. If not, that is good too. Well, thanks for the explaination... No want any but transcriber haha
Have a good day

Help!
This is the first time I've used any custom ROMs, so please forgive the ignorance. I unlocked my xv6800 and flashed with Radio 1.40, and everything worked great. Now, however, when I try to make a phone call, I get a verizon msg saying that they cannot authenticate my phone. My SPL is still unlocked--is that the problem? I reprogrammed the phone, and it notices that the SPL is unlocked. If that is indeed my problem, how do I lock it again?

Call verizon and tell them u hard reset and now your device cannot authenticate.

Well, it took 3 levels of customer support at Verizon before I got to the one who could help, but they fixed the problem. Now, Radio 1.40 is on and working. Thanks!!!!

It should work. Only language is english, but has all the locales that the QTEK ROM has.
Which Windows Mobile build?
Can someone who has flashed this ROM go to "Settings > About" on their phone and post the "Build" number that you see there? This is supposed to indicate which Windows Mobile 5 AKU was used in this ROM. For example, my 3125 (which I believe has the latest Cingular shipped ROM) shows "Build 14955.2.3.0", which I am told indicates it is running AKU 2.3 (kinda old - the newest AKU is 3.5). Anyway, just curious...
I've never been entirely happy with the call quality on my 3125, so I'm looking forward to finding a new ROM with some radio improvements. So, I would be interested to hear if anyone experiences any improved call quality with this ROM versus your previous ROM (especially if your previous ROM was the current Cingular ROM)...
TIA...

krweatherl - Can you go into any detail on this ROM version. You stated that this is a 'Test' ROM. Is there a final release coming or is this version it? Is there an associated 'What's New' document? Any documentation would be great.
Just curious. I didn't want to flash to this ROM when a final version would come out a day later?

Build 15362.3.4.2 indicates Windows Mobile 5 AKU 3.4 - giddyup!!! Very recent, must flash this ROM soon...
As to call quality - since I got my 3125 I have had a number of people say my calls don't sound as clear. Funny, I can usually hear them fine. Not saying I am surprised - I saw this comment in some reviews I read prior to buying this phone, but I decided to buy it anyway. But no regrets - other than the fact that some people have trouble hearing me (that's their problem!), I truly LURVE this phone... ;-)
Does it means this firmware includes .NET Compact Framework 2 in the ROM? (According to this: http://www.mobile-review.com/pda/articles/wm-aku-en.shtml)
I want this... Auxiliary Display Support
Added support for an external display that can be used for clamshell Smartphones. The external display shows device information and allows the user to control key aspects of the device from the external display and hardware buttons. Extensibility in the design architecture allows partners to create new views based on templates as well as customize the user experience flow. Opening the device will take the user to the application shown on the external display.

AKU 3.x stuff
@moneytoo,
Those were some interesting links. A few things we could/should see in this ROM as a result of AKU 3.x that caught my eye: stereo bluetooth improvements, an EQ in Windows Media Player, Internet Sharing instead of Wireless Modem, AJAX for IE, and performance improvements for IE (I wrote "could/should" since, as we all sadly know, carriers like Cingular have the ability to disable, cripple or otherwise hose up just about anything before the ROM goes out, and they seem to take advantage of that capability regularly)...
Looks like the .Net CF2 you are interested in may or may not be in the ROM, depending on what Cingular decided to do with it, since the second article sez it is a carrier OEM:
.NET CF V2
AKU3 ships with the newest version of the .NET Compact Framework as an OEM optional component.

Awesome.

no need to download a new one, correct?
Thanks! I have a question about backing up settings:
If I export my registry and turn in into a cab, under 3.1.2 then a run the cab on an updated version would I run into problems?
Thanks DCD!!
Impressions:
- Much quicker than the previous release
- Windows Live works (yay)
- Task Manager 2.1 update was not followed through in provxml (still reads x-button 2.0)
flashing today, will post tomorrow!! going bowling right now!!
thanx DCD
Thank you, very very much! Awesome job, everytime!!
Flashed, backup restored. So far so good.
Thanks DCD!
Well, I've held out since 3.04 and radio 3.27... I guess now is a good time to upgrade with these changes/fixes.
I'm a VZW XV6800 user; should I upgrade the radio or rom first?
edit- I can someone point me in the right direction on how a Verizon user needs to upgrade the radio to 3.49? I cant find the thread
not entirely shocked at much of the improvements.

sorry if that sounded a bit off note, i didn't want to sound rude, but i just reflashed 3.1.2 and all my apps which toke me half a day to do. So i just dont feel entirely compelled to do this update. Otherwise I've always appreciated your work, amazing stuff.
And ill be taking a break to, ill wait as long as i need to for whatever other updates you have for us .
Side note- DCD, How are you so knowledgeable on making your own ROM and everything that evolves making it? were you a phone ROM Engineer at one point or something? Something Ive been itching to ask, and the right moment, seeing you've actually quoted something i wrote! i said to myself, w00t~ Chance!
Love ya DCD ^_^
1 more question, aside from Diamond sounds that i see you've included in 3.1.6, well we see more diamond additions later on, in the Kitchen?
This may be an stupid question, but does this ROM update the PRI and PRL? Looking at your "Device Information" screen capture I am out of date on both.
~Mask~
For VZW, is MMS support included
awesome
this is my first post here. I am an HTC noob ... Was initially putting off burning a "custom" ROM to my phone when I initially got the phone since all these warnings saying "may brick phone"... But the TELUS ROM sucked so bad I couldn't take anymore rebooting my device every few days and resynching my Windows Live every time I rebooted since it would bust each time (i use Live to manage my contacts)... So far this ROM looks good. Looks to be running quite fast.
All that to say, thanks DCD ... You have helped to make my phone a worthy purchase. Since using your ROM's, the only time I need to reboot my device is if my memory is getting low (memory leaks), and even that is not often. I even went ahead and donated a little sum to you for your work ( I have never done that before either).
Thanks again.

I assume that if you run the carrier cab, you don't need to run a separate iota cab. I didn't with 3.1.6; haven't tried 3.2.0 yet, but I don't think the carrier cab (for Sprint at least) has changed.
Man I just got 3.1.6 and all my apps all set yesterday... Choices.. choices...
Is there a list of changes / bugfixes in the actual WM6.1 builds somewhere? I searched MS website and Google to no avail.
DCD.. We appreciate your work. Thank you.
FROM DCD's post
Code:
3.2.0
update OEMDrivers to Sprint 3.56
update to OEM_Adobe_Reader_2_5_103401_01
update to OEM_HTC_Camera_4_05_30525_00
update to CE OS 5.2.19958 AKU 1.2.0
added more tcpip tweaks
phone screen sleeps quickly when on call
:::we are not worthy:::
Question for DCD/ GC etc,
are the carrier cabs the same with each release (e.g. do I need to download verizon cab each release, or are they the same)?
P.S. DONATE TO DCD!!!
You can use the same one...if they are updated it will be mentioned.
gc...can you explain the updates in the 4.05 camera. i like 5.07 and have used it, but would like your input and recommendation between the two.
thanks to you and dcd for your hard work on this

I use Sashimi. I was a long time user of UC until about 3 weeks ago. Sashimi is a mortscript-based program used to automatically or semi-automatically install cabs, exe files, registry settings, mortscripts, and files. I was having some trouble with xml files during UC. I have about 30 or 40 settings that I use, and the rapiconfig was not consistently making good xml files. My settings change from day to day, so I needed something that would quickly & automatically backup just the settings I play with, and not the other reg settings. If you need help locating your settings, download Cregeditor, and you can use this to find changes in your registry.
DCD 3.2.0
First I loaded the "Ship Rom" and played around for awhile then loaded the new DCD 3.2.0 and noticed no Sprint Navigation or Sprint TV included on his. Something we have to add in on the kitchen?

I'm going to give it a try.
Thanks.
ok i think i may have discovered a problem with the new rom and any version of HTC x-button. everything works awesome until i install this app. as soon as a i try and hit land scape mode with the x-button open my entire start menu disappears until a i do a soft reset. i did a hard reset and did not install x-button and i had no issues...
i will reflash and try again but i was wondering if i could get the x-button that came with the latest release in .cab format?

[RELEASE][24.08.2008] FireROM 0.3 / 20273 / UC / GSM - "I r not a chef!"[ONLINE]
Well folks, as it seems people were refraining from uploading the ROMs I'm waiting for (damn you l3v5y!), I decided to build one myself, primarily with the purpose to use UC
This ROM is failry stock-ish, with the following changes I felt were the bare necessities for my own device.
Changes from stock
- WM build 20273 (SYS & XIP)
- UC compatible
- Policy adjustments
- Many performance tweaks
Added/replaced packages
- NetCF 3.5 (from 2.0)
- Opera Mobile build 1938 (from 17xx)
- QuickMenu
- wkTask
- PHM RegEdit
- HTC GPSTool
- HTC NetworkPlugin
- InboxExtender ('mark all as read')
- Pocket RAR
- TCPMP
Removed packages
- EnlargeStartMenu
Left most crap in there
First custom ROM, yay
This ROM has been tested on my Raphael, and I guess, at that, it's officially the first custom ROM for the Raphael that's out there and running!
Thanks
Of course, all the tool and kitchen builders, I'm not going to name 'em because I'll forget half the ones that did the most difficult and important work, I'm sure.
I would like to give credit to the followings guys though, who helped me get started:
- LennySh
- Colonel00
- verizonguy
Requirements
- Hard-SPL for Raphael
- CustomRUU for Raphael
NOT included
- Hard-SPL for Raphael
- CustomRUU for Raphael
- Radio
- Splash
Download
RapidShare - http://rapidshare.com/files/139826955/FireROM-0.3.rar.html
History
0.3 - Added tweaks, added/replaced more packages and removed a couple
0.2 - Added 20273 SYS and new Opera
0.1 - First release, 20273 XIP, UC compatible
Future
Unsure, I'm not aiming to become a real chef, but there were no custom ROMs yet and I did want some basic stuff changed on my own device. I feel I have now accomplished this...
NOTICE: FireROM 0.4 has been cancelled!
Just informing you all FireROM 0.4 release has been cancelled, because....
*drum roll*
I have been assimilated by the Raphael Elite Project!

I have to agree...How did you test it on your device without HardSPL? Did you just dump your own carrier ROM and then modify it? Or was this tested using an emulator?
From his signature, it would appear that Mr. Chainfire has a working version of OliNex's Hard-SPL 1.90. Hmmm.
Maybe he can see into the future and saw a vision of HARDSPL very soon
Your Rom's the first in the Custom Rom Wiki Congrats:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Raphael_Cooked_WM6.1_ROMs
People don't forget to keep it updated and or post mirrors.
Cheerz,
Oi!
The hard drive I was cooking from broke (I think my brother dropped it... Never gonna let him near my computer again...) and now I carry on getting errors with the rgu files!
I'm going to re-dump the ROM and play around...
Also, have you just got the 20273 SYS, or the XIP as well?
Not up to speed on post-hermes devices yet but is it wise to be including radios/SPLs with any cooked ROMs??
Opinions people i aint questioning the chef at all.

I think the radio version is only in his signature.
He removed it from first post to avoid confusion (again I'm presuming)
So i downloaded the Rom to extract, but Unfortunately it was a corrupt download so no telling for sure now, just assumptions.
But I assume Chainfire wisely did not include Radio or SPL.
If anyone can confirm this, as Chainfire's off for a few days.
It would be useful information.
Sleepy Time here,
Cheerz
When I am back home (at gf now) I shall see about clarifying the opening post, as some confusing seems to exist (unfortunately, I was in somewhat of a hurry).

I have had similar and numerous issues with the original dumping as well, but they were eventually resolved, with some help from real chefs and trying multiple base ROMs. This rom contains both the SYS (since 0.2) and XIP (since 0.1) for 20273.

Well, this ROM contains neither radio nor SPL, and I think it would be unwise to do so, unless there is a good reason to. For example, several of the early 6.1 Kaiser ROMs did contain radio and SPL (IIRC) as they were both needed for the ROMs to function properly - with 6.0 radio's and SPL causing issues which could be hard to solve if flashed improperly or in the wrong order.

I think the only reason my signature is not in the first post is because I edited the post. I'm afraid I can't say from the top of my head if that is correct behaviour for this forum, but I know this happens on several forums using the same forum software.
I hope the corruption was due to your download, not due to my upload - that would be most unfortunate as I can neither check the download here (slow internets here) nor re-upload (dont have the files with me, obviously). I will check it out when I return home sometime tomorrow or Monday.
Again, this ROM does not include radio nor SPL.
I'll download it again now that i'm awake. (i was downloading quite heavily at that moment so most probably it was just a corrupted download)
Will report back in thirty.
Did you check the chekbox in advanced editing mode? You can try to disable/save/enable/ to test.
Cool cool, just checking dude
Now, Mr Chainfire, because of your earlier comments, I have a ROM uploading. It's Build 19965 as I haven't downloaded the 20273 ROM yet, and it may not boot (as I can't test it).
I think I shall call it "I r teh chef!". As with this ROM, it's unsigned...
Now, stop being mean! *sob*

As I seem to recall, after your ROM announcement thread, I offered you to test your ROMs if only you'd upload one, and you refused to!
Now it seems we are forced to do battle!
Sorry have Visit.
It was a corrupted Download before, so no worries the download for ChainFire is Cool.

This is a Raphael, and is GSM. I'd go with "no". Do not flash ROMs not intended for your device, as you will end up with a brick. BTW, do you have a CDMA Diamond? And if so, which network is it for?

*Requirements:
+ NueSpl 2.47, olipro 2.40/ I reocmend the first as it is much easier to install.
+ Radio 2.3.3x or higher. What I run is 3.42.50
+ Working and hopefully prior exp in flashing custom ROMS.
MMS 5.0.71.33 is working great.
GPS fixes are extremly fast and accurate. After QSPT and OEM.

What do i do with QSPT and OEM?
Not sure about the OEM part, but with QPST you can set the Altel aGPS server info and it will get a GPS sync in under 15 seconds, even inside and usually have more satellites linked than without the aGPS fix.
I'm assuming the OEM is a preset registry change as well, but registry alone isn't enough to get it to work, the QPST part is 99% of it, the registry change only helps once the QPST part is done.
BTC
oh really, i guess i havent check in here in a few months...i thought it was only sprint that was able to do the aGPS stuff.
Whenever I use M2DC to disable the anolog clock, the background squares of the digital clock move to the left and the numbers are all bunched on the right.
Other wise the rom is working great. Similar to R4R, without the SMS/MMS problems. I just have to figure out what all of the programs are.
Is there any way to use the windows media player on the music tab? It seems to not shut down as much when I am using too much ram. If I am doing too much with windows media, at worst it pauses for a few seconds. With audio manager it will either shut down completely or stop, then start the next song when it starts moving again.
can you point me in the right direction for QSPT? i can't find anything specific to alltel...

Nice work! I've been running the official Alltel 6.1 for the past few weeks and have been pleased with it, but have been feeling the need to scratch the "flashing itch" of late.
Question for you. As I said, I have the newest Alltel 6.1 flashed at this point, and I did go into QPST and edit the aGPS. Assuming that this is just a ROM (no radio or anything) my QPST changes should survive a flash, correct? I shouldn't have to do them again? I remember this being debated at one point, but don't remember a resolution.
i used this kitchen, but the resulting nbh file is only 6mb....doesn't right compared to other roms i've flashed. Maybe it is though?
great work on the gps i get gps fixes within 25 sec indoors...
BUGS SO FAR
-If u close an app it stays open (look in the task manager you will see what I mean)
-HTC Audio Manager has a cert error
