G3/G4 Device? - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Hi, a friend of mine recently flashed his Wizard with a new rom and I'm going to be flashing my Titan very soon. He mentioned something about checking to see if it was a G3 or G4 device before flashing. I read about what he was talking about in the Wizard forums and was just wondering if that is even needed at all when flashing the Titan. I have searched and not found anything regarding that in the Titan forums so far. I just want to make sure before I flash it. Thanks.

no it is not needed

i want to go back to the old rom or atleast make this work it doesnt matter what rom it is please help me show me the way im pulling my hair out over here
Hi mate,
it is not a good habit to create double threads for the same issue. I referred you to the G4 section so you can look for other threads dealing with your problem.
Did you even bother to read the stickies?
i did im on this page right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
but the thing is the phone is not a wizard but it is a g4
now im looking at this sticky:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293480
but none of the links work? can you help me how can i make this phone work
Please read sticky carefully then.
Both G3 and G4 are different variants of a Wizard ...
The other question is whether your P4300 is identical to any Wizard (either G3 or G4) at all ....
Added:
Sorry, I don't have a G4 so can not guide you through the process.
oh my god..! i installed lol the wizard love rom and it works !~~~!!!!!!!
seems your lucky day then
still be careful to follow the instructions when installing WM6 or other ROM.
Cheers!
P.S. so is it a G4, eventually?
weird its not accepting my sim card?
is it the sim card from your original provider? maybe you are still sim lock?
well i took the sim card from my sidekick 3 and then put it on this other phone?
did this card work with the p4300 before your flashing?
ok it works now.. damm lol only thing is that when i boot up i see Wizard Love is there anyway to change that screen to Windows Mobile Screen.
no offence, but look and search for it yourself.
this is a great forum. most of the questions you have got has been asked and anwered before.
have a good day!
ah no need to get mad.......it was just a question.

WM6 upgrade guide.. And something else

I have a hurricane and i would like to upgrade it to WM6.1..
But now i want a guide! Because the last time i just did it, i bricked it.. The SPL flash went wrong and now the hurricane is dead.. completely dead.. But unfortunally i have another one i wish to try it on but i need an exact guide..
And then i suspect my other hurricane to be some kind of prototype.. I flashed the "patched_ruu" and it went fine but after that i just got a white screen and now the device dosn't work.. I have tried to get help but as it seems it is not repairable.. So i would like to know if the device i have is a "genuine" hurricane? How can i check that?
The other hurricane i had was not branded.. Nothing was stated on the cover.. The one i want to flash now is branded "Qtek 8200" and the splash screen says "Test Only - Not for sale"
Can somebody help me here ? Iam afraid to brick this device too !
Guys damned i need some help here !
There are more than enough upgrade guides. Just look into the longer WM5 or WM6 threads and make sure that the ROM you downloaded really is intended for your device. Don't just assume and better check twice. HTC devices have confusingly many codenames and are sold under dozens of different brand names. Even some people writing guides confuse one or the other model.
Sorry, I know this is the answer you just didn't want. But reading the threads provides just the kind of information you need if you don't want to brick the second phone.

Dirk

I assumed it was a rom intended for my device, cause the rom i downloaded was in the WM6 from this forum.. The guide in the thread i found isn't very desciptive.. Others have downloaded and got it to work on their device but somehow i did something wrong OR it could be because my device was a sample.
No one with a little spare time ?

Complete newbie. Advice needed

Hi everyone, this forum is great and have seen lots things that I'm sure will be of use but having only ever had standard mobiles before I;m not sure where to start!
I've got a T-Mobile branded HTC touch dual which is unlocked to all networks but other than that it's standard.
I basically want to remove all traces of T-Mobile from the phone and set it up as HTC made it, or better if possible?
Any ideas or suggestions would be great. I've tried searching but don't know all the terminology yet so I don't know what I don't know!
Thanks in advance

Click stuff & read. Every phone needs a "ROM". You want a non T-Mobile ROM. First, Flash with HardSPL, then Flash new ROM. Then read Wiki about tweaks & crap like that. Viola. The key is read, read, read! We all have to do it too. Wiki is your friend. Wiki likes you. Wiki wants to play. Be one with the Wiki!

Original AT&T Fuze (HTC Raphael) ROM

Hello:
I'm sure a total newb question.
I am only marginally savvy with this sort of stuff - but I would like to experiment with some of the ROM's that I see in these forums for my AT&T Fuze (HTC Raphael).
What I would like to know is, where can I get the original ROM for my device (or backup somehow off of my device) in case I want to revert back to the "original settings".
I'm sure that I'll find the cooked ROM's here to be superior, but at the very least, I would like to know if I can reset this in the future whenever I upgrade and want to sell the device.
Thank you.
Hey there,
I'm in the same boat as you. From what I've found by searching, it can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439346
However, the HardSPL instructions clearly say that you have to also get the following:
"be sure to first restore stock OS, and stock radio. stock SPL is always to be done last!!"
And that's where I'm stuck because I can't seem to find sock Fuze radio or OS. Maybe someone can clarify for us?
check out the Wiki, all of the info you need is in there. There is a table of all of the ROMs including all AT&T stock ROM's that have been released. Definately follow the instructions for HardSPL and make sure that's installed correctly before you do anything, you can brick your phone otherwise. Also, for AT&T you will need to make a registry change or install a cab file to fix the keymappings from the original HTC Touch Pro to your Fuze. Good luck, and happy flashing.
OK, so right after I made this post, I find this page...
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Raphael_WM6.1_ROMs
From "Device Information", I find that one of these match my device:
ROM: 1.95.502.5
Radio: 1.02.25.32
Protocol: 52.39c.25.22H
Hurray for doing "just one more search"...

Cool, yeah, I think this is the page I found above.
And, I found the following post, which I was going to follow: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008
But if you have any other specific info for my device, I'd LOVE to hear it. Bricking would be very bad... LOL!
Thanks!
[Edit] Dang.. you guys respond fast! Thanks for the additional info!

[Q] should i do it?

first of all hello to everyone, I am new to this site.
i came across this site since i have been searching for ROM developments to my phone.
i see this is a very comprehensive site with ALOT of information and i dont even know where to begin.
So i hope someone nice here will answer a few questions
First of all, is it worth upgrading to another ROM (one of these sticky threads ROM)
I've been looking at the Artemis but again im not sure what to choose.
Also no idea how to upgrade it and if anything goes wrong is it possible to backup the original ROM?
I like to upgrade since im not very fond of the original ROM, also a bit slow from time to time.
I am not a computer noob just very new to this. Hope someone will help or point me in the right direction.
hi there.
I whole heartedly recommend flashing a custom rom to your phone. I only flashed my first rom earlier this year. there are plenty of tutorials here on xda. this really is a great community.
search in the threads for MSkip's guide to flashing your first HD2 rom. Just always remember to read instructions thoroughly.
Roms are down to personal taste but I personally like the Energy series.
good luck.
I was afraid to, but now I'm glad I did (flashed like 5 times now, till found the ROM for me) Just remember to read all the ROM info and instructions carefully and for the love of God, have the proper Radio version for the ROM OR ELSE YOU WILL BRICK IT!
