Titan Radio ROM 2.13.00 - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

What appears to be the vogue 2.13.00 radio packaged for titan has showed up on the xda ftp and seems to be working for titan users. I created this thread to move conversation here.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Titan/Radio_Roms/titan_2.13_CDMA.rar
Mods, some conversation begins at post #284 on my kitchen thread if you want to move here.

It also would appear they posted a 1.59 and another 1.47 radio rar file. As to my knowledge the 1.47 was the lastest radio put out by HTC for the Titan.

How about a direct link to the new radio?

Although some say it working on their Titan, we don't know if this is an actual update for the Titan. I would be very careful and wait to get more information before using this radio.

Using it on my Titan and loving it havent noticed any problems as of yet but will post anything I find.

So it basically sounds like the Sprint Vogue 2.13 radio happens to work (as far as we can tell) on the Titan.
NexVision...you mentioned it seemed to be faster? How about the signal strength?

Well based on the signal bars on the phone I have gone from 1 to 2 bars in my store to a full signal. Does that mean better signal well I have never been one to go by the bars. Will know more tonight when I go to my girls as my phone loses service the second I walk into her house almost convinced she has a jammer to keep me from being pulled away.

hahhahaha that would be hilarious...

is this sprint only? or wil it work for verizon too?

Maybe its just me being niave, but I'm not at all surprised by this, the Mogul and the Touch are basically the same hardware as far as the radio is concerned:

If thats the case I wonder if they just called the latest Radio for the Vogue 2.13 which is really the same as the Titan 1.47? You would think that if they were so similar HTC would use the same radio.

Though.. with the Touch not having Wifi, would be interested to know if WiFi still works on the Mogul with this Radio version...
Then if it disables Wifi on the Mogul... can you use a mogul radio on a touch to get Wifi.... hurmm....

if the Touch doesn't have the hardware to do Wi-Fi (as in the radio doesn't support 802.11), then no software can make it happen

I too am interested to know this, thanks.

just tried it, BUT after the "upgrade" my phone only connects to the Internet at 1X. anyone else having this or similar problems??

I just flashed this to my verizon xv6800. So far I can send and recieve calls and WIFI works. So it looks good for verizon at the moment. I'll pair it with my car (2008 honda accord) and see what the bluetooth performance is like. Cross your fingers for me.

My report (loaded on XV6800):
Phone- Sound is excellent. Fixes problem of not being able to answer phone after 1.40 radio install.
Bluetooth- works fine.
Wifi- works fine, although the hard button on the side of the device no longer works. Connect/disconnect through comm manager is fine. May try another hard reset to see if this is fixable. A small sacrifice vs. the increase in EVDO speed.
Evdo speed 868kbps. This is a 33% increase over prior. Getting an extra bar in most locations.
I'm sold.

Radio 1.47 and 1.48 problems with Rogers Toronto

Last week I updated my Radio to 1.48.
A few days ago I started doing tests by calling my PDA from my home number (testing the callerID function of Slide2Unlock) and realized that almost all calls would ring and then go to voicemail without my mobile ringing. Looking into it more and talking to people that call me on a regular basis, I realized that I am getting a lot of missed calls on my phone.
I reverted back to 1.47 and did the same tests with the same number of missed calls.
Going back to 1.43, my mobile now rings on the first ring, every time.
Seems like 1.43 is the better Radio for Rogers (Toronto)
I don't think it is only Rogers.
I was running 1.47 for a while ... a lot of network disconnects, so I thought the upgrade to 1.48 would make it better ... it made it worse, WAY worse. I am now back on 1.43 with no problems at all
1.48 perfect for me with FIDO. (or rogers if you want to be technical). It is not the Radio. I have been testing various ROMs. Some work better than others with the radios. I find those ROMs what were cooked with the PTT removed has issues.....
If I use ROMs that were originally without the PTT, I experience no issues what so ever with 1.48.
maybe you can get walshieu to give you 1.49 ?

Hello Landyman,
As you know there is a problem in SA on all the radio ROM versions.
Leaf are aware of it as it is network related.
They will shortly be releasing a WM5 and WM6 version with a new radio specific to our network.
At present it is on test with the networks.

I recently switched to the Sleuth Developer v3 ROM, does it fit the above category? I can always revert bach to the Schaps 3.57a ROM and try 1.48 again...

You mentioned it in another thread as well, IIRC.
From my experience, with our current situation, 1.43 works best (for me in any case)
I used 1.48 for about a week, had problems with reestablishing connections and some missed calls. Switched back to 1.47 with no issues. The Radio that rogers came out with for there system is 1.42, unfortunatly there is no update for this Radio until there is an update from Rogers. The only way to get it is to buy the phone from Rogers. And before it is asked it can't be dumped.
Same problem,

Would you recommend 1.47? I used it for a short while and it seemed OK. Did not test it as thoroughly as 1.48.
BTW, thank you for yor Rogers settings cab. Just found it yesterday and it saved me a lot of manual setting up.
As much as I am sorry others were having this problem, I'm glad I'm not the only one! After trying both 1.47 and 1.48 and missing calls to the point that my wife thought I was ignoring her, I finally went back to 1.43 and have been golden. Soooo.... you're not the only one.

I too missed about 6 calls today with 1.47, I am going back to 1.43, That Radio with Rogers has always been reliable.
Yes.

In Montreal area,I tried 1.47 few days ago, often i had to dial twice to make a call, and the earpiece volume is lower than others. then change to 1.43, i missed many calls, but phone was ON, with reception, but all calls went to VM. then i changed it back to 1.41 yesterday. everything back to what a PHONE should be. sometimes, simpler is better...
With Fido using a 8525 with BB connect in Calgary. I was until recently, using the last wm5 ATT ROM which worked with BB connect. Missed calls with 1.48, so went back to 1.43. Now with vp3g wm6 BB connect version, decided to try 1.48 and the same missed calls issue. Back to 1.43 and everything is fine.
I noted this problem back on the 12th of July and was told by numerous members of this community I was crazy, "the radio's wouldn't have been released if it had this problem".

Now there's several threads popping up with users finally noticing this problem.. One person has suggested those suffering with this issue have older SIM cards - which I do - so maybe this is the problem? (Don't see how, but whatever, worth noting the age of my card.)
My Sim is at least 3 years old now... I'll play with a newer sim when I get a chance and report back.
I also had issues with 1.48 missing calls and losing signal for long periods of time while driving through bad coverage areas. Switched back to 1.40.30.00 and all is well now, receive all calls and when i drive through bad coverage area quickly reacquires signal

My SIM card is about 4 months old - definitely not an issue with an old card.
I wish I had noticed your earlier posts on the topic, I would never have upgraded to 1.47 or 1.48 if I had.
Do you have one of the "newer" HSDPA SIMs? I'm not sure if much has changed in the SIMs from older gen to newer gen - but I haven't noticed the dropped call issue with 1.48 and Schaps latest ROM.

Yes, I have the new HSDPA sim. Have not tried 1.48 with Schaps latest (installed it today) but am hessitant to upgrade the radio in case it does not work. I am back at work now and cannot afford any missed calls.
UPDATE: Installed 1.48 and tested - even though my phone immediately detected a 3G network (does not do it with 1.43) upon calling myself, 2 out of the 3 calls resulted in a missed call. Reverting back to 1.43.
UPDATE2: Reverted back to 1.43 and tested. My phone did not immediately register the network as 3G but all calls (3) rang to my phone on first ring.

[UPG][REF]Raphael Radio ROMs (Separate RUU updates)

For those wanting to upgrade only their radio I have uploaded the following RUU packages:
Radio 1.02.25.31 (Cingular)
Radio 1.02.25.19 (HTC)
Radio 1.02.25.11 (HTC)
Radio 1.01.25.16 (Cingular)
Each of the packages already contains an ROM updater which does not erase your phone, so your operating system and settings will remain intact.
Note: You need to have HardSPL before attempting to flash these!
Remember that flashing anything on your phone is always at your own risk.
I have updated my HTC Touch Pro to from Radio 1.02.25.19 to Radio 1.02.25.31 without any problems.
Update 1: Added Cingular Radio 1.01.25.16
THANK YOU now i try in my diamond
Do these radios work also on Diamond ?
They will not flash in your Diamond if your Diamond radio is security locked.
I would advise against flashing Raphael radio's in your Diamond, there is no reason to.
It could work because the chipset is the same, but why take the chance to brick your phone by flashing a radio which is not meant for it.
Do you see any improvement with .31 radio?
Tested it for about an hour or so now.
Can't say I noticed any difference, but I only tested it around the house. Reception around here is generally very bad and it seems to hold up nicely, so its definitely not worse then the previous radio.
GPRS, EDGE and HSPDA seem to work fine.
What about the Cingular one..? Anyone try this in the US to see if the 3g is now present..?
i flashed my touch pro with .31 and it went perfectly. In fact my US AT&T shows G. Not sure if that is the same as 3G but i am also at work where i have bad reception so that may play into it
as with the roms thread, the info is in the wiki pages already.
Although do keep discussion on the radio performance open
3g radio work in North America?
I bought the Diamond in the UK and haven't gotten anything but EDGE. Will any of the RADIO updates address this or is it a hardware problem ?

My TyTN II would show 3G most of the time in the Chicago area. It would switch to H whenever it was downloading. That's the ONLY THING I miss having now that I got the TP...Edge is too terribly slow to do anything but update the weather and my RSS feeds off hours (like at 3AM).

3.37.75 radio from VZW rom?

I know dcd a ripped a more recent radio from the Bell release... but I'm wondering... would this radio provide any benefit to Verizon users seeing as it came from a Verizon ROM? Would even work without the new PRI?

There is absolutely nothing in a radio ROM that ties it to a carrier or optimizes it for a carrier in any way over any other radio ROM.
I will post 3.37.75 here anyways.

ya... i realize there is nothing specific to the carrier but it would stand to reason that the carrier did their testing based on that specific release so it could possibly have the best results on their carrier?
I dunno.. I'm just wondering ... will try the radio you posted tho appreciate it!
I have noticed very little if any difference in signal strength between alltels stock radio and the newest i put on. Going to the new one however did enhance the ability of my gps with alltel stock radio i wasn't able to get anything in my office now i works pretty well.
So is this Radio ROM decoupled from the VZW ROM update so I can flash it and still keep the DCD 3.2.6 ROM that I already have?
I am on 3.42.50 but am willing to try this Radio ROM to see if there is any difference for VZW users but don't want to screw my phone up with VZW crap that turns off my GPS and Data and all that.
Yea, I am asking the same question: I know what dcd said earlier in this thread but I think it need reiterating: Is installing this radio going to screw up anything for those of us using dcd's ROM?
Also, I'm using 3.42.50; and this is 3.37.75... Isn't this a step backward (as far as version numbers go)? So what would be the difference?
P.S. The 3.42.50 radio rom, who/where was that originally pulled from?

i believe it was ripped from altel, but i read that radios are NOT carrier specfic
Just installing the 3.37.75 radio without the PRI won't screw anything up.
The 3.42.50 radio came from the Bell Vogue Rom.
Radios are not carrier specific.
Ok here is my question. Who controls the version numbers? Do all the radio ROMs come from HTC or do the carriers themselves edit them (not to be carrier specific, just in general..) then publish them?
I guess I just want to know if they all follow the same version tree so that 3.37.75 isn't actually newer than 3.42.40/50, but we can't tell since the # is lower.
I am curious too Why would VZW release an outdated radio.....

My guess is that when they started testing this ROM internally, that is the radio which was available.

its not an outdated radio - you cant compare the numbers of the radio from one carrier with the numbers of another radio from another carrier since all carriers arent using the same radios (even though they may be compatible with different networks)
For example, the XV6900 is newer than the XV6800 but it is far from being better and in fact has a crappier processor.

I'm using it.. works fine... I was having probs with the new one switching to 1x mode and sticking there from text messages but haven't seen it yet on this one... all radios are fairly similar I doubt you can really tell too much of a difference unless u saw something bad happening with one of them.

So Radio 3.37.75 seems in some ways more stable than 3.42.50 so I wonder about the version numbering. One real improvement is in bluetooth. With radio 3.42.50 I can't use the serial profile with a GPS receiver and headset profile at the same time. The headset profile disconnects the serial profile with in 30 - 45 seconds and if the connection recovers it's only for short bursts. With the new radio both my GPS and headset work great in parallel.
I'm also noticing faster GPS response especially on cold start. Either way I'm sticking with 3.37.75 for now over 3.42.50.
Thanks
Scott

Question: Flashing radios on AT&T Fuze

I've looked through countless posts and on the wiki and have yet to find the answer to this question. If it has been answered and I missed it, I'm sorry... I'll look harder next time.
I just purchased a Fuze from a good friend of mine who works in an AT&T corporate store. Since this version supports the US 850mhz 3G band, I need to know if I will loose that support or possibly brick my phone by flashing a radio from a version of the Raphael that does not support this band.
Thanks again for the help.

Well I'm working all day today, but I'll be sure to do the flash tonight and post the results in the morning. Then I just need to figure out how to remap the keyboard from the Touch Pro default to the custom Fuze keyboard...

Bottom of the page, its the cab to remap your Fuze.
Well, I promised to post my findings, so here it is:
My Fuze can still connect to the AT&T 3G network with no issue even after flashing the .28 radio from an international Touch Pro. Really adds to the mystery of why the Touch Pro can't do US 3G yet the Fuze can...

Not yet. I like to be security unlocked prior to any sort of flashing. It's just a preference thing after the Kaiser Radio from Hell fiasco.

Reflashing from different carriers?
Verizon and sprint run CDMA and EVDO, and ATT runs GSM(edge) and UMTS, I'm not really such you can just re-flash the radios to swap networks, I maybe wrong but I would like to know also. Anybody?

no no no ... you can't swap gsm radio rom to a cdma phone ... it won't work and you might end up bricking your phone.
i believe what the op is asking if he will loose us 3g ability if he flashes a european 3g radio rom that doesn't support the att 3g band. And imo i think yes you will loose 3g by doing that. If this was avoidable than everyone who bought a international rapheal could have been using it here in states with att/tmobile 3g...

Yet I did not loose my 3g ability after flashing the european radio. The question now is why?

Doesn't Olipro's Raphael Unlocker do just that? Are you saying that you just haven't done this yet or that this program needs to be updated for the Fuze? Also I noticed the SPL version is 1.95.0000 on my Fuze, not 1.90. Do you think it is safe to flash RaphaelHardSPL-Unsigned_1_90_3? Happy to test my new Fuze but just need a little reassurance first I'm not likely going to brick this new puppy. Thanks.
Good to see some top Kaiser guys here with the Fuze. Give me comfort in knowing we will have a strong Fuze following.

i believe there are a few people who successfully flashedhe Fuze. I'm in the process of doing so as well, just flashed Romeos2.
now this question might come off as stupidest you'll ever hear, but please bear with me as this is the first time i'm flashing a rom. do i have to do anything about the radio after flashing the rom? (a better question is: does flashing rom get rid of the radio so that I have to get a new one?)
thanks guys for the help.

Whats the best radio for Sprint TP???

Nah guys i wanna get some feedback from you because Im not sure what radio to flash... Im currently using 1.03.15F radio... I think there may be another radio that could make the phone work better...
Any tips, will be appreciated... Thanks...
your going to have to try them out for yourself, I made a program for myself to do the same thing but haven't gotten around to it yet. I've been using v1.04.05 personally. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=69973

lol what a combination, all your missing is a Verizon holster and an ATT sticker to put on your battery door for that "satisfy everyone" feel.
