HTC Camera 5.0.4.2915.00 - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Has anyone get this to work on the PPC6800 (Bell, Sprint, Telus....) I get the error "Unable to capture photo, Unable to get frame data from Camera device." on the Bell PPC6800
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355587

Same problem here....
Curious to see if anyone else has tried....

dcd did i believe, never put it in the rom cause i like to have flash, and he said it doesnt flash.

Camera is working here
I am running the HTC Camera 5.0.4... from the latest dcd 1.6.10 kitchen. Of course the flash is not included, but the camera is working as expected. This is the XV6800.

yes but....
you have it running on the mogul? (aka telus P4000)

I am not sure about the telus name. The Verizon XV6800 and the Sprint Mogul are both based on the HTC Titan as I understand the naming schemes. I think this does equate to the PPC6800.

the cdma version is 5.07

anyone using this notice a benfit over the old version? or just new and fun?

I find the quality to be worse... but this is only while you are waiting to take the pictue... once you take the pic it is the same quality.
oh and you lose the flash ability (which is useless in the first place). i upgraded mainly due to the nice new UI

My bad, I am on the 5.07, not the 5.04.
DCD, thanks for the kitchen AND keeping me straight.

is there a cab for the 5.07. i tried searching but no luck

I actually notice a Huge difference with the 5.07 camera built into my No2Chem Rom'd Mogul (HTC6800).
So much better in picture quality that I don't even care that it doesn't have a flash.
I built that s**t right into my titan kitchen.

it seems like it is the camera that is stock on the touch. is the pic quality actually better enough to justify losing the flash????

Will this work with Verizon?
I'm a Verizon user too.
Will this work or what mods need to be done?
Are we needing to save our info again? IE ESN/MSD/ etc?
Is this carrier specific? Will it work for Alltel?

It's made for Sprint.
But, it works on Verizon!
I came from unlocker 2.40, radio 3.27.00, dcd 2.0.0, on my xv6800.
I was able to place calls, receive calls, use data, and use GPS, all right after the flash. IOTA works too. The Sprint brand shows in a few places, but hasn't shown to adversely affect anything I've tried to do (haven't tried and don't use MMS). Apparently there's an app that fixes all branding too, although I haven't tried it.
I never had an akey in EPST to begin with, so I can't say if others will be able to flash as easily as this (since I'm not sure if that's changed by the radio or OS roms).
Need to play a while to see what's improved/deteriorated.
Thanks a ton for all your hard work no2chem!

Nice
Nice and quick rom. Got stuck in bootloader for quite awhile when loading. Sucks up quite abit of memory compared to DCD's new rom tho. Good work!
so whats up with this new rom? 6.1 huh? so whats on the inside???

Has anyone extracted the gps stuffs?

Lets face it. The new radio sucks horribly. The leaked Rom is very bad as well. Countless problems for almost everyone. Has anyone extracted the gps drivers? I would kill to go back to the 2.17 sprint rom with the gps added on.
Won't work you need the new radio, and rom.
Mine is working without any problems, and the radio is great.

well, the new radio is a BETA after all. and i havent had any problems with it. The new radio is what enables the GPS in the phone, and the 3.16 based roms have the drivers that are needed for gps. so these go hand in hand. you need em both for gps.

No problems for me, works great and couldn't be happier with everyones work on getting the GPS and Rev A to work. I appreciate all the work that people are putting in to get all this going. I guess you'll just have to wait until your carrier releases their updated ROM with GPS enabled, maybe that will be less problematic for you.
I am betting when this is released there will be a newer radio, this is a beta and the radio is at least a couple of months old, I am sure they have done some tweaking since then, at least if they are seeing the same issues one would hope they have tweaked a bit more here and there.
Same goes for the rom piece of it it is an old beta as well they are both 2 months old, so whatever Sprint and/or HTC has been doing for the past 2 months is unknown.
You Sprint folks should all be happy to me it seems Sprint is the only provider that gives half a rats ass. On Telus the last rom came out back in the beginning of July and none of the other Canadian providers that carry this phone have provided any updates whatsoever.
As Fallingup said this is a beta and the issues we are seeing from the radio patch exhibit normal BETA behavior...
Hell even HTC is convinced the Radio isn't ready for Primetime and keep delaying the release! That says to me they have hit some roadblocks they are having trouble dealing with.
It would not surprise me at all if HTC consciously decided to leak this radio so that the community could take a crack at solving those issues and give them some ideas on how to fix the patch.
I am hoping someone in the community is looking at this beta version of radio and looking for ways to improve that....
Cause I'm betting the second someone can tweak that radio to work well, HTC will take that file and use it as a roadmap for an official release!

the actual results are somewhere in between...the ones with zero issues either don't use data connect extensively or haven't really run everything through it's paces. How could they the ROM is only a day old! LOL
Others just have issues with the 6.1 OS and still others have issues just flashing. The latter is simply user error and that will always be there no way around that. You have to know those issues will show up even if the perfectly stable ROM gets released.
The Radio is IMO definitly not ready for prime time. between the BT issues, Data Connect and the problem of having to prime the GPS before a navigation software like TomTom can use it there will have to be another update to the radio ROM before we can be sure we gain GPS capability without losing anything else...
Right now Radio appears to be a bit of a tradeoff as opposed to a simple feature addition.
Once an official (as opposed to leaked) radio comes out I think all the REAL problems people are having will go away.

As far as I know nobody here on XDA Dev has actually tweaked a Radio. People put together firmware files from other stuff, and bundle them all together, but to actually fix and recompile a radio file goes much deeper than anyone here handles.
I have had only one problem running dcd 2.10 and 2.20. I have run critically low on memory once. This has never happened before.
But as for the radio and OS, I think my call quality is noticably better than with the stock rom or any of dcd's 1.x rom/radio setups that I have tested.
Oh, just FYI, I'm in Utah. I wonder if the radio issues have to do with a difference in radio hardware on the towers in New Jersey.
After reading for several days and hearing the good the bad and the ugly I opted for the straight leaked rom. No unlocking and all that.
Well so far so good. GPS works, RevA not a real difference so far
Fairly stable. Happy with my beta software until the official release

Yup, me too.
As a matter of fact, I'm not going to go to DCD's 2.2.1 until this current flash (on my phone) bombs. 2.2.0 is working great for me.
For those who claim to have no problems...
Try downloading a file larger than 1 MB in PIE or Opera...
The issue has NOTHING to do with DCD's work...
Definitly the Radio...
There only problems I have seen with the 2.2X Roms DCD has put out is some issues with installing programs on the storage card...
But if I know DCD that will be fixed rather quickly.

Those waiting for HTC/Sprint for the ROM update

There is a reason it's not out yet, it's not even close to being released yet. There are problems that are being worked on in the ROM update. I can tell you that you probably won't see an update officialy released until maybe the end of march. How do I know this you ask? I am an engineer with sprint. I myself have the Mogul and am frustrated with the lack of GPS etc.
There's no lack of GPS anymore But there is a lack of being able to send pictures!

you have the gps update from a "leaked" or cooked ROM
Anyway the reason for the holdup is that they need it to run stable. Obvioudly it will run the new apps fine, but then the speaker might not work etc...
the official rom will obviously have:
GPS
Sprint TV
6.1
and supposedly a better task manager. Also help out the memory leak problem.
REV A
The sprint touch may get the GPS and REV A update first
It's nice to see Sprint being so concerned and cautious with their update. But then again, you work for Sprint, so shouldn't your statement be, "...we need it to run stable..." ?

1) You don't reply to questions directed toward you because you're full of bologna
2) You do reply, and give us some bologna about how Sprint decided to not include it for some oddball reason.
If Sprint TV really does get put on a ROM in the future, then i'll give you respect, but until it happens, you can't just come into a community spouting off fiction hoping that people will think you're cool.. Back on topic, since all the good quotes have been taken, I'll believe this when I see it. I mean, it would be nice, but the day the OEM's give us a good ROM (that can't be made better by the likes of DCD, No2Chem, etc) is the day I stop using all devices and move to a cabin in the mountains without power...
The Touch may get updated first? I'm beginning to wonder if the next official Mogul update comes pre-installed in a Mogul 2.
First post here (from my Mogul) but long time lurker. Just running 2.17 but I'm tempted to install a dcd. My main concern is the radio stability as I like to stream alot of audio.
chubzilla, you had to know when you posted who you were, you would take alot of shots from people on this site. There are alot of angry people here that have been waiting for sprint and HTC to get off there butts and fix the problems with the mogul.
I guess what I would like to see is an official response from sprint about the status of the ROM Update other than "Additionally, HTC is currently developing a separate ROM update which enables the EV-DO Rev. A and GPS capabilities that are already built into the Mogul hardware. Sprint and HTC plan to make this software ROM available in early 1Q 2008."
Outdated information like this just inflames customers.

Alltel Users - New Rom Posted on HTC

I haven't been on a while, my DCD 3.2.6 has been running as smooth as ever.
Just noticed tonight though that HTC has released the 6.1 upgrade for Alltel users. HTC PPC6800 WM6.1 / LBS Update – Version 3.52.671.9
Probably won't leave my 3.2.6 has it's running smooth, but the upgrades from the HTC site include:
1. Upgrades the operating system from Windows Mobile. 6.0 Professional to Windows Mobile. 6.1 Professional.
2. Adds the ability to use the internal GPS of the handset for advanced location services such as Alltel Navigation, an application that provides audible turn-by-turn directions and business listings.
3. Includes updates for network speed, allowing the phone to use EVDO Rev A networks.
4. Adds all enhancements included in previous software maintenance releases.
Just wondered if any Alltel users have tried it.

I am currently running it. As a matter of fact, I replaced DCD 3.2.6 with this one. It runs just as good and the GPS runs smooth. It also comes with ArcSoft 5.0.71.33. Alltel Navigation is the same navigation application most carriers are loading on thier phones (some version of TeleNav). Comes with a 30 day free trial and works good, but I will not pay the $9.95 a month to use it. When loaded, I have just as much free RAM as I did with DCDs ROM. I still like the work that DCD does, but I prefer a factory ROM if possible and so far this one gives me all that I was looking for.
interesting...thanks for your reply.
I've been running this for about a month now and it runs great!
Only bugs i've seen is sometimes when I get text messages I don't get the orange flashing light and it never vibrates...other than that it's pretty spiffy. I like the threaded txt messaging!

hope dcd can help by breaking this to down to kitchen but wish to thank dcd

I have been using the Alltel Rom since the day it was released (actually had it a couple days before it was added to the htc site thanks to this site). Its very smooth and I really like the newer arcsoft. So much easier to send texts. You can reply to Picture msges with a txt without leaving the msg box and creating a new one.
Very stable I have had no errors. It runs Skyfire a lot better as well.

i thought you Alltel boys might want to know this. I'm fairly familiar with one of Alltel's engineer. He looked at my titan for about 30 minutes a few days and looked at some screens i've never seen. Now i'm not saying all phones on 3.2.6 are not Rev.A compatible, but i know the Alltel ones aren't. He said the "alltel people" were very familiar with DCD, NoChem, and other Roms and respected their work.
for some reason though he said their roms didn't enable Rev.A on the alltel network. This new ROM that they have out does...it shows up as rA on the phone instead of EV. Just thought you'd want to know.
To show you how much i love 3.2.6, i will still probably stay with it. It's the most stable ROM i've run, and i'm well appreciative of DCD's work on this stuff.
I'm running DCD now, but can someone tell me what version ARCSOFT was included with this official alltel rom??

The new Alltel official ROM comes with ArcSoft version 5.0.71.33. Lots of other changes too. I was running DCD 3.2.6 and decided to check out the new ROM from Alltel. It runs great with plenty of free RAM (around 17MB). It has the GPS enabled and comes with TeleNav, but I am using AmazeGPS.
Well....I'm running DCD now but I can't forward txt messages to multiple people...I am running that version of arcsoft as well. Looks like im going to go back to the official rom..No one seems to have any solutions to my issue..

Yup.
Has anyone here managed to extract the Radio and flash it with working results?
I've been trying to do this myself and it flashes fine (via MicroSD) but then I get No Radio.
I'm using Dutty's NBHTool to extract it from the Special file, then making a NBH of the Radio only...
Anyone?

Did you actually test out the connection at speedtest.net?
If your uplink is over 200k, then you are revA regardless of what the screen says. Put another way, have you determined whether this is a display issue or an actual issue?

Phone seems to work fine as it is. Is the CDMA just another word for the Radio? Oh and thank for the great build DCD, much better than my carrier (Bell) why Bell doesn't support their phones as much as the other providers I will never understand. I do miss some of the features that the stock rom had but I much prefer a OS that is stable and fast.

CDMA is another term for radio as you stated. Well, it means alot more than that. But in essence.....
CDMA is the type of technology your phone uses. GSM is another different technology as is IDEN. Its like laser disc, VHS and dvds. All play videos, just different technologies to interpret the data.
That was a bad analogy!

I'm a bell user too and have to ask, what could you possibly miss from the original rom?
I'm not sure, but my theory on Bell's support is it is costly. Why test and maintain updates when it will not make profit. The stock bell titan has no GPS. I think they find it cheaper to sell you a new phone with GPS than to send an update to activate GPS.
Thanks for all the info. About the only thing I really miss from the stock rom is the today plugin for windows live and MP4 playback through media player. Bell can enable the GPS on this phone with their stock rom but you need to pay for the service as far as I know. Bell is like this with all their services though, you get stuck with old and outdated products to force you into buying new. I'm holding out on my current contract, Shaw has recently purchased wireless rights, they wont start that up for another 3 years or so, just in time for my Bell contract to end. Had quite the many issues with Bell and their shady business practices.
Not sure about the MP4 support on other roms, but I have windows live available on my phone. You need to find the Windows Live Cab. This way, you can install both the mail, messenger and all the extra Today screen stuff.

Frankly? Because Bell sucks. I use Bell and I happen to like their service and phones offered. The software support they offer is terrible though. Here is the response from a Bell official on the reason for not offering unlocked GPS for the Titan (Bell PPC-6800):
Its not that we are lying about the functions of device, when we spec each phone for launch, every component and functionality is tested for quality on our network. With the 6800 the quality of the GPS was not up to our standard, so it was partially locked out. Our hardware development group was not confident enough in the GPS of this device to allow it to be used on our network. With many Windows devices, freezing and stalling become an issue, with the 6800 the GPS radio causes the device to stall, we were not able to resolve that issue, therefore a decision was made that the key functionalities of the device should be preserved. Google maps should still work on the phone. We will not be releasing an updated ROM on that device as it is now end of life. My apologies, but that is a decision that was made by other parties that I have no influence over. I hope this clarifies this for you.

This is obviously BS because the GPS works just fine on the network with DCD's ROM. I get no freezing or locking up that they speak of. Anyway, FYI...Bell will never unlock GPS on the Titan.

For some reason or another DCD's rom doesnt support movie playback taken with the camera. I couldnt find anything at all for live, when I did find one it refused to install, I do have the one live program with all the maps and directions stuff, using palringo for IM but of course I cannot access my hotmail through the built in messaging program. They are small sacrifices though considering how well built and phone friendly DCD's rom is.
I know Bell will never unlock it, wouldn't be cost effective for them to do it with an older phone. They cant afford to lose anymore money than they already have. I find it funny that with all the stuff Bell does they manage to stay afloat. they don't make any money off of all their other services, only their wireless. Having a bit of an inside look at how they work and their practices it is very surprising. What gets me though is when this phone was the latest and greatest thing in the market Bell was the only provider who did not fully support the phone. Telus, Verizon, Sprint and even small mom and pop providers released more updates that the monster that is Bell.
Hi, I would suggest you use the kitchen for DCD 3.2.6
It allows playback of MP4 files in Windows Media Player and you can install Windows Live.

windows live uses a cab, easy to install. and mp4 playback in WMP is not that big of a deal, because one, WMP is terrible, and two, TCPMP supports it, and several other file types.
i don't see why people can't live without a kitchen
