Anyone use a high capacity battery? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Accessories

I searched but did not find much current information-
Has anyone gone to an oversized high capacity replacement battery for their wizard? I see several on ebay from $17 to $30 delivered and doubling the battery capacity has to be a good thing.....right?

i was thinking about it as all wm devices suck on battery life... but i charge mine all day at work and on my nitestand, and it usually lasts about two days without charging anyways....
i figured my brick is already big enough i'd just buy a second battery and keep alternating the two (keep one in the car or something with a car charger)...

I did purchase a large / double capacity battery - and am very happy with the purchase. Yes, it makes the brick a bit larger, and does come with a battery door as the original will not fit.
I was having charging issues, believe my battery was at the end of its lifespan - was having to charge every night, and if battery got below 51%, my wizard would continually loop at windows mobile flash screen.
I've gone as long as four days without a charge with the new extended battery - that is running some of the XDA WM6 roms - using wifi, etc.
I find the phone easier to hold with the larger battery
Just my .02 cents
Have a good one

does the phone with the bigger battery still fit in the regular case?
Thanks

The phone still fits in my holder - that was a big plus for me.......
The holder I have is a brown leather one with the logo Reiko on it. Came with the phone when I bought it on ebay. It has elastics on the side, so not sure if it is a specific holder for the wizard only.
Can't really help much more than that
Have a good one

Thanks for the info, bill_in_mtl.
I have decided to buy one. Hopefully it'll fit in the case.
What's a good place to buy one?
I found someone on e-bay selling them for $12 shipped.
http://cgi.ebay.com/2400mAh-Ext-OEM...ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting
It says it's by Celxpert.
Is this battery to be trusted, or could this turn out to be a cheap, low quality product?

I purchased mine on ebay also - for just about the same price. Have had no issues whatsoever with the new battery.
One note is that you need to ensure you identify which model you have - the different Wizard models have different battery doors.
Cingular 8125 and TMobile MDA have different battery doors. I noticed that the ebay item you linked shows it is for the mda.
I ordered and received the correct item for the 8125.

Thanks again for the info.
I just ordered the one I linked to.
I do have a T-mobile MDA.
I'll report here how it works out.

After one day of using the high capacity battery I got from e-bay, I can say so far it's performing great. The phone is bulkier now, but it can still fit in the original case that T-Mobile sent with the phone, although barely.
I may start making a lot of voip calls over wi-fi, so can't do without a high capacity battery.

Replacement and high capacity batteries

I see that Mugen have updated their website to say that standard size and large capacity batteries will be available for the TC at the end of April
Reteb
Looking forward to the OEM sized high capacity battery.
Thanks for the heads up.

Nicely spotted Reteb. Thanks. I've been hoping for this for a while
I see the capacities are still TBD. Judging by the currently shipping TyTN II batteries it would be reasonable to expect at least the same, i.e. 1500mAh for the same-size replacement and 3000mAh for the over-sized replacement.
Does anyone have any experience with Mugen power batteries? I came here from the PalmOS world and my previous device was a Sony Clie TH-55. That had quite an active forum and one thing we discovered there was that there were a lot of third-party batteries out there for the TH-55 which, if you just looked at the manufacturer's claimed mAh ratings, should have delivered between 15% and 20% extra battery life per charge compared to the factory-fitted battery.
What we actually found by running standard battery discharge test programs on many devices was that in real life the replacement batteries at best only just matched, and in most cases failed to match, the performance of the factory-fitted battery. Whether this was because of dishonest labelling by the manufacturers or whether it was because they had sat on shelves in hot warehouses for too long was never determined.
I just hope that Mugen power label their batteries honestly and store them properly before shipment because even a 1500mAh battery should in theory be an 11% increase over the factory-fitted one and that would give me another 80 minutes of music playing time on my device so definitely worth having.

Here is one new extended capacity monster for the Touch Cruise.
http://www.boxwave.com/products/hig...ty-extended-battery-htc-touch-cruise_3046.htm
Have you seen this one?:
http://www.netimes.com/shop/replacement-battery-for-htc-touch-cruise-p3650-p-1028.html
Is not extended, but I think, the cheapest...and it works as the original one!!!
I bought two batteries and a lot of more things (cases, car support, protectors, cradle, stylus..), and I have to say its a very serious shop..
Wow, that's pretty cheap, I prefer to have one or two spare if I'm away for a while rather than having a huge bulge sticking out of the back. No catch? Will this also be the replacement battery for the Orbit 2?
Spare Battery - Cheap.
Found this on eBay, and checked just now (August 4, 2008) and they still have them. Ships from Asia, but arrived in under a week and is absolutely dirt cheap and perfect quality. The wall charger is the only convenient way to charge a spare battery, and the battery plus the charger together for $7 + 6.50 shipping is amazing.
And, of course, i do realize that i sound like the spokesperson for the seller - but it's really an amazing deal and i wanted to share witcha

Best Extended Batteries

ive always used mugen powered batteries when it came to extended, they are the best quality out there. a little pricey but the best.
for the touch pro they have two out so far:
1800mah STANDARD SIZE battery. i am looking into getting this one because their is no need for a extended backpeice, its the original size.
http://www.mugenpowerbatteries.info.../es109514_es120302495377/Products/HLI-T7373SL
the second one is a 4500mah extended battery that comes with a new backpeice.
http://www.mugenpowerbatteries.info.../es109514_es120302495377/Products/HLI-T7373XL
one question i have is, will the backpeice fit the tmobile US touch pro 2 ? the tmo us touch pro is just a flat cover that dosent go around the edges, but looking at the unbranded tp2 and the backpeice goes around the edge. so are they a different size or the same ?
in opinion, which one is a better value ? taking into thought the size difference
I would get the 1800mAh for 2 reasons.
1. Better value for money.
2. No extra battery cover needed. OEM TP2 fits fine with 1800mAh
If you do buy the 1800mAh, please do post a review...
also if you look on the mugen website, they also have a 3000mAh for $80 which fits the TP2 but a extended battery cover is needed which is supplied...
I'll surely go for the 1800mAh. not that pricey after all, if it really gives that 20% more usage time with no need for weird battery covers and so on! I've been crossing my fingers for months hoping to see a standard size / increased capacity battery!
moreove mugen power batteries are well known all over the world as I can see, and much appreciated by many users, which is good!
wow I'm so happy! jayizzbakk you're the man!
UPDATE: all htc touch pro 2 t7373 batteries are currently out of stock. I wonder when they'll be back on stock again??
I purchased one of these on eBay without thinking. No it doesn't fit the Tmobile USA Touch Pro 2.
<http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370245860031&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT>
I'd think having a 4500ma battery for trips etc would be great.
I'm guessing the one you listed is not for the Tmobie Touch Pro 2 either.
I have one of the 1800 ma batteries on its way to me now I will let you know how it does on the Telus TP2

I was looking into getting one for my Telus TP2 as well. Please do post a review.
no problem, im also waiting for them to come into stock. im afraid that it wont be a big difference
I don't think there is is an extended battery with a rear cover made for the At&t fuze...\
I too went on ebay, bought a 2800mah and cover, not realizing what the descript meant by unlocked (unbranded)
blasted the seller with negative feedback, there in hong Kong, even if they where to credit mysale and shipping both ways, I wouldn't have been satisfied, for the time I waited and that was with me paying express.... they should have written Unbranded, not unlocked(unlocking is software, un branding is hardware) Period
i saw the exact same one, and was thinking that unlocked has nothing to do with it lol
im hoping they can make an extended with a rear door in mind of the tmo tp2 users.
im really looking into the standard size extended because this phone is already big and heavy, no need for a size boost
I was liking the idea of something like the HTC Battery bank but it's kinda expensive. What do you guys think about making something like this:
http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/ele/1331980387.html
Would that even work, or worse yet, would it harm the device. Too bad I just sold my MDA or I'd have an old piecer to test it on.
I haven't seen any real high AAA Lipo, maybe 1,000 - 1,500 Mah not any improvement
Unbranded Extended Battery
I did the same... I bought the unbranded 2800. I just looked and seen that it wont fit. I bought it on the 22nd and they put a note saying it would only fit the unbranded on the 24th... So now I have to wait for it to get here, just to send it back...

probably after I gave them neutral feedback, Listen I waited over a week to get it and paid the express shipping, its not a total lose, cause the batter is still good, but there is nothing they can do to make me happy, short of refunding me the whole sale, and I wouldn't want or expect that, so.... "just changed unlocked to unbranded" sothis don't happen to anyone else
mugen batteries for touch pro 2 will be in stock by the end of next week. their customer service is superb, will surely buy the 1800mAh one, though I fear it won't be much of an improvement...

I wonder if this is correct: 1800mAh is 20% more than 1500, so is it correct to assume that it will increase my phone life of nearly 20% (likely less - but HOW MUCH less?)?
There are some 1800mAh batteries for the TP2 on ebay but I can't imagine a $1.50 battery is going to do much besides melt my phone.
and what about that:
http://cgi.ebay.fr/HTC-Touch-Pro-2-...3?hash=item20ad159355&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177
It's hard to tell how thick the back cover is

Extended High Capacity 2300mah Phone Battery - Anyone have try this?

Hi,
Found this link and its kinda cheap compared to Seido. Anyone have tried this before and any review?
http://www.usbfever.com/index_eproduct_view.php?products_id=1173
I bought this battery from amazon
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001PRCU0U/ref=ox_ya_os_product
It was $23 shipped. Very good battery its best to run it down then recharge it. I can leave gps/3g on all day and not fear a dead battery after a few hours!
Pretty decent battery and half the price of the Seido. I've been using it for a few months now. The only problem is the back cover only ships in one color (black). Otherwise I would recommend it.

2300mah on ebay
I've two of the 2300 (or is it 2400?) mah batteries from ebay. the price was $14 or so shipped each. My g1 runs for 12-16 hours of heavy, constant use; or 3 -5 days of light use. Standby, I dunno how long because it always being used !
the wife's phone (white one) is still using the stock and crappy battery. She kills it in 5 hours. Women are mean !

wow. it is the same product at the amazon. now we got cheaper price. thanks for the head up!
Still waiting on mine from china. 10-21 Days, that is crazy.
What I really wonder regarding all those extended batteries:
Why do the manufacturers leave so much space unused? I mean if you get the new back cover, it must be as thick as the battery. But on top and below the battery there is just air floating around between the phone electronics and the extended cover, where battery power could be placed.
I would be glad to see a manufacturer use this space as well - so the battery might be formed somehow like a flat T. Would be a little more complicated to produce but might well be worth an extra 1000 mAh without making the phone thicker - that should convince some customers I guess.

Case for Topaz with extended battery

Hello,
I've ordered a 3.200mAh Battery from Mugen Power.
Now the Phone thickness increases to 23mm, so the original case doesn't fit.
Is there a case like the original for this brick?
Regards
Wiesel
Sorry for out-of-topic question - but how long does this battery last after full charge? -Thanks.
"PLEASE NOTE THIS BATTERY INCREASES THE THICKNESS OF THE DEVICE TO 23mm.
REPLACEMENT BATTERY COVER IS INCLUDED. "
So you don't have to order another one, isn't it? ^^"
My current stock battery lasts for about 2.5 days. If the above mentioned battery lasts for about a week I would definitely consider buying one and keep the stock battery as a backup
but the price is crazy..$96?!?
I hope somebody can review a yoobao 2200mah.
The battery arrived, few minutes ago.
So I can give some statement in a couple of days.
Mugen is very expensive, but the batteries are high quallity.
I have a three years old 3300mAh in my tytn and have power for over a week
with bt on and mutch sufring on it.
hi,
Can you please let us know the results with your new battery?
sweet I would have loved that much juice in my toy too!! I can't wait for batteries powered by nuclearity! (there are those now, read it in a magazine) They can actually make them much tinier yet safe enough for daily use.. hell, even the older pacemakers were powerd by splitting atoms
BATTERY
The battery will come with a new back cover included
DasWiesel, do you recommend this battery? is it worth the $100? how much longer battery life are you getting out of it as opposed to the original battery? is the extended thickness noticeable by a lot? do you like chocolate chip cookies? oh sorry let's just stick to the subject
isn't it very heavy????
it seems the phone will be like a brick! no?
I should buy one battery...
see here 2200 mAH
it contains back cover too...
please write a review here...
thanks

devices with new batteries are all bricked or are there actually some results on the duration?
I just purchased the Mugen 3200mah battery for my HTC Pure. With the original battery, I'd get 15 hours of moderate use. I'm now on my second charge on the Mugen and it looks like it will run for 30 hours. That means even with heavy use, I can easily get a full work day out of it. Weight with the new battery - 5.4oz (155g). That's up from the original 4.15oz (117g).
Update = after 24 hours, the battery is still going strong and is at 49%. So looks like it will run for more like 2 days in moderate use !
2nd update = After 49 hours, the battery is at 2% and I'm going to recharge it. So, 2 days of moderate use !
As to size and weight, I previously had the AT&T 8125 and 8525 (HTC Wizard and Hermes) and the HTC Pure with the extended battery is about the same size and weight as these. So, I don't have the hardware keyboard those units had, but I do have a phone that will last through a day of even high use (push mail, web use, phone calls, etc.) ! Worth it for me.

i too just purchased the mugen 3200mah and have one question. on their website it say's that it's for the t5353 (touch diamond 2) and does not mention the st6356 (at&t pure). i know they are both the same phone, however, after seeing pictures of the t5353 back cover, it looks like it covers the entire back of the phone from top to bottom, while the st6356 has a back cover that only goes three quarters of the way down. did i just pay $100 for nothing or will the back cover fit just fine?

The back covers do look quite different so I can't say. I bought the mugen for the HTC Pure - http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-3200mAh-MUG...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item45f022bfc9
I recommended this battery to a friend and she got one as well from eBay and loves it. She was going to pitch the phone and buy an iPhone till I got her to upgrade the battery and then installed an Energy Rom for her.
i just saw some more pictures and yes, they are different. so the question now is, is it possible to buy just the mugen back cover for the pure without the battery?
[edit]
never mind that. naked cell phones from ebay offered to sell me the back cover alone for $11.99. but there was no need since mugen power batteries were kind enough to cancel my order. so i purchased the whole thing and received it today. i hope it's as good as everyone claims.
Can somebody post a picture of his Topaz and the mugen some that I can get a expression about the new look?

[Q] How much thicker is the extended case?

Hi,
I'm getting my Pro2 today and since I'm very worried about battery life (I hope to be using the TP2 A LOT), I was wondering how much an extended case adds to the phone.
This is what I had in mind (German Ebay but I think you know what I mean from the picture there):
http://cgi.ebay.de/Power-Akku-Li-Io...4579?pt=DE_PDA_Zubehör_KM&hash=item53e279e3e3
Does anybody have such a case for an extended battery? How comfortably can you carry the phone in your back pocket compared to the normal case?
Thanks in advance!
I don't know if I would bother with a case like that (it looks like it'll make the phone about 50% thicker). With the stock battery, it lasts more than long enough for me to get through the day, so all I have to do is plug it in each night. What I'd do is just see how long it lasts you for the first week or so then decide if you want to get an extended battery, HTC makes an extended battery and cover so I'd look into that rather than a third party one.

If you think the phone is fat now, don't try it. It makes it bulkier but also a bit uglier (and i have yet to see a silicon type 2-piece case for the extended back cover (how are you going to protect it after install the extended stuff?))
Wait and see if the normal battery suits you , then if yes just go out and buy another one plus battery charger from ebay and you are set! If not, well it doesn't really give you a choice. You are going for the extended.

After all the purchases i have inside ebay and seeing the prices of the original models, i'd be nuts to prefer the official against the oem from a seller with proven history!
Thanks for your replies!
The extended case does indeed look ugly, so I'm holding off buying one for now. However, despite my light use so far (I need to get the data connections turned off first), it does feel like the battery doesn't last long at all, especially compared to my good old K750i, which I could use to play mp3s for literally days (which I wasn't expecting with the TP2, of course, but still - that was really nice).
I'll wait and see, I guess. But since the docking station, which I also got from ebay, doesn't seem to recharge the battery fast enough, I might have to look for a solution soon.
I have also seen a 1750 mah battery that isn't bigger at all. It fits underneath your existing case, and it is an improvement of 250mah.
I cannot post links atm. Just google "Seidio Inno 1750mAh Extended Life Battery " and find it on amazon. It costs about 50 dollars.

Hmm, $50 is a little too much for my taste, since I paid only little more that $100 for the whole phone and there are plenty of batteries for less than $20 out there.
I have the extened back and battery. Well worth it if you use the phone alog like I do. with the OE battery I was getting down to less than 20% battery life in not time at all. Now I get down to around 50% by days end.
Google HTC and 74H01486-01M (the part number for the OEM HTC extended back) they cost $12.95 (USD)
When I set the extened back next to the phone with the OEM back on it, the extened back is as tall as the original phone, so it is adding about 1/2 inch to the thickness.
Don't expect to find a case for it either, I have had my phone for 1 year and have yet to find a case that it fits in. I have an old worn out one that was stretched that I can get it into.
@wooptyone: Thanks for sharing! I am back to considering the extended case as well since I will be reading a lot of ebooks with the TP2 and the battery does indeed go down pretty quickly. Also, I discovered that I'm not using a case anyway since I have the phone in my chest pocket all the time. The only downside is the docking station that I bought for it, but since that isn't working as intended (apparently the current isn't enough to load the phone while also acting as a USB port ), the extended case so look attractive right now.
Sadly though I can't find the case you mentioned in Europe and S/H would double the price.
