How Do You Save Programs And Other Things To Your Storage Card? - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Could someone please tell me how to save programs to the storage card because whenever I download programs it doesn't give me the option to do that. The only time it gives me an option to save something to the storage card is when I am saving pictures or using the camera. Also how do you perform a soft reset without it asking you if you would like to do one? Thanks

To soft reset, put your stylus in the little hole in the bottom near the charging port.

When you download something, or install it? Two different things.
If you are downloading, using PIE, then it will pop up a box that asks you if you want to run the program after download, there is a option in that box to choose the storage card.
If your installing a cab file, then you should be given the option to choose to either install the device to phone, or storage.

[Q] HELP! "Download Manager" ruined my phone

Hello
I downloaded an app called 'To Do List' and it created a folder called "download manager" on my SD card which i have since managed to delete.
However, everytime i boot my Hero, it takes a long time to start and always gives me the message that touch input settings is not responding and i have to force close. And then my keyboard does not work. Also, since installing this app my phone does not recognise the SD card. It says "Unavailable" in Settings > SD Card & Phone storage.
I put my SD card in a card reader and connected it to my PC and it recognises it and this is where i deleted the "download manager" folder.
Since then i have installed two different Roms and both are still giving me the same problem.
I have since deleted the app but i think the problem is there is a file called "download manager" in:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
When i click on it, it gives me the option to "Clear data" . So i click on that and it tells me it will permanently delete all of this applications data. However, when i reboot the phone the file is stiill there and running.
I'm no expert but i think this is what's causing the problem. Is there any way i can delete this file so it never comes back cos its really getting on my nerves that my phone isn't working properly.
I have done a factory data reset several times but still i have the same problem.
I have done the reset through Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset.
When installing the new rom i have done data wipe, cache wipe and dalvik wipe.
Still the little ****** doesn't go away.
Can somebody please help?
Thank you.
try an Sd card wipe as well when flashing a new rom.. including wiping your ext partition and then re forming.. that is if you are using an ext apps2sd
i'm reluctant to re-format my SD card because i have a lot of music/photos etc stored on there. i do have them backed up on my PC however it does take a long time to drag them onto my SD card.
I deleted the download manager file from my sd card so i'm guessing the problem file it stored on the phones memory.
Is there no way to delete files from the manage applications part on the phone?
Well I think you should give it a go.backup your photos and music and then re Copy them. Even if it does take up to an hour it maybe better than living with the annoyances
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
Do you use apps2sd using the ext partition. Not wiping that would be a problem when flashing most new roms

[Q] HD2 internal storage reduces daily

My HD2 was flashed with Energy 29022 Sense CHT 2.0 rom 4 days ago. Everything is fine except that I noticed that the internal memory goes down daily. Right after flashing there's about 170 MB, and today there are only 40+ MB left. I have installed most programs in the external storage card, and more importantly, set all my programs to store data in the external starage card. However, obviously some program is storing data in the internal memory without me being aware of it. Can you please give me some hint where to look for those data storage folders in the internal memory? Or which program/app is the suspect? Thanks and Happy New Year!!!
Have you tried moving your Opera Cache Files to Storage Card?
Open Opera and type "opera:config" in the address bar. You'll then be in the config page. Find the section "User Prefs".
In there you should find something called "Cache Directory4". Just change that path to any directory in your storage card
(for example : "\Storage Card\OperaCache"). Scroll to bottom of page and hit Save.
This thing also happens to me... And I'm not using opera. But when I remove my sim and my sd card and turn the phone back up again the lost memory is recovered. Why is that?
Install the attached cab file, after installation open it go to menu> selection> select all> CLEAN.
Do it once a day at least.
there is an option for automatic cleaning by selecting certain folders , I think you can select three folders.
On another note, don't forget to select SD card option when installing programs or Cabs.
Edit : look for the attachment in the next post.
Hope this time the upload is successful.
Is it safe to do a "select all" clean? I read in some posts that it messed up winmo.

Not sure what you mean about the SD card, but you should be able to go into the Settings menu, select "Security" and then select "Factory Reset" to remove all user-generated data.
If you really wanna clean it off, and you're comfortable flashing the tablet using the hardware restore mode, download the NVFlash format kit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974422
This will scrub the firmware portion of the device (not the internal user storage) clean. And I mean, the BIOS won't know how to turn the screen on afterwards, so be prepared for that; you didn't brick it.
Before you do that, though, you'll probably want to also download an NVFlash package for the original software to put back on it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861950
I just checked and both links still work, along with the links to the files in those threads.
Happy hunting!
EDIT: One last quick though: none of this will affect an actual "SD Card". If you want that clean, go to Settings -> Storage -> Format SD Card
my father in law put frankentab on it and im trying to find the right file to put on the micro sd card to install the factory drives but im having a heck off a time with it.

Apps "disappearing" from SD card, but different ones every time I reboot

Hi,
I have a stock LG LM-X410ASR (Xpressions Plus) that came with Android 8.1.0 installed. I installed a 32 GB SD card and installed a bunch of apps. On this phone, if you go to Settings/General/Apps & notifications/App info, you can tap on an app tap on "Storage," and then "Change" storage from internal to SD, if the app allows it. I did this for every app that would allow it, except for some that run better from internal storage, or whose widgets won't work right unless they remain on internal storage.
I've had this phone since the weekend after Thanksgiving, having bought it on sale at Wal-Mart. Since then, it's been performing well, until today.
I have Nova Launcher installed, as well.
I was updating apps in Google Play, and Castbox didn't want to cooperate, so I cleared Play Store cache and rebooted the phone. When I rebooted, I saw a lot of grayed-out shortcut icons on my home screens. DriveSync also had a failed sync. When I went to DriveSync, it wanted me to find the root of the SD card, again, so it could have permission to write to the SD card. When I tried to enable this access, I could see the SD card, but the hex name was not visible and DriveSync did not accept my selection.
Neither Astro File Manager nor the native file manager app would allow me to copy, move, delete, or create files on the SD card any longer.
I have rebooted the phone multiple times, and have been paring down my apps in preparation to do a factory reset, hoping this will solve my problems. Each time I've rebooted the phone, a different selection of apps was grayed out or missing.
At this point, I'm not sure whether I have an SD card problem or a hardware problem with the phone. I would like to find out so that I can replace the SD card or file a warranty claim with LG.
Would a factory reset followed by installation of apps that can be "changed" to SD storage, changing the storage location, and rebooting the phone be sufficient, or should I try this with a brand new SD card installed?
Thanks1

[Help!!!] Lost access to internal storage after flashing the TWRP and official ROM

I've downloaded the lastest official ROM, and installed it within TWRP.
Everything seemed to be okay after rebooting into the system.
While I found i was not able to download the wallpaper from web browseror to take pictures due to lack of storage.
I'm not able to upload pictures here, so will try my best to describe the situations:
1. after opening camera, it pops out "Turn off camera? /n Insert an SD card before using the camera. /n Cancel or Turn off"
2. when i try to save something from web browser, it says "couln't save due to limited storage space."
3. opening the file manager, I do find internal storage shown at the bottom, indicating 50.20 GB/total 64.00 GB. But opening it, only two folders appear, namely "Android" and "TWRP".
I wondered if it was caused by some read-only issue to the system drive, but I did allow TWRP to modify the system partition upon booting the rec.img.
I've tried a few rounds, the problem is still there. and my yota 3 is kind of a brick to me now.
Help me, please.
My yota3+ also lost the ability to write to the internal memory (possibly after I've inserted a sd card and decline formatting it). Searching for a solution only come up with a very old thread on HTC which involved commands on a rooted phone like msdos_fcsk and restorecon. I couldn't try these commands as my phone is not rooted. You can try these if your phone is rooted.
