I recently purchased a Qtek 8500 at a my local LIDL in Germany.
This one comes with ROM-Version 3.6.251.1 that I have not found anywhere so far.
While Brightpoint officially supports this cellphone its IMEI won't let me register at myqtek.com (or any other support website for HTC products for that matter). According to Brightpoint's telephone support (which accepts the IMEI just fine) there is no need to access that website since my phone already comes with the latest ROM.
I would love to try out the fantastic WM 6.1 ROMs that were posted in this forum but without the stock-ROM this feels too much of a one-way-street. Without the possibility of going back to 3.6.251.1 I feel like I would just throw my 2 year warranty out of the window.
Has anyone seen this ROM or knows how to obtain it?
A few related questions:
What would be the best backup solution for Windows Mobile so I won't lose the things that are not synced with Outlook (like short messages etc.)?
Where would I be able to find German localization and German t9 for the Windows Mobile 6.1 ROMs?
Are there any significant drawbacks in upgrading to WM 6.1? Like reduced battery runtime or broken features that worked fine in WM 5?
Final question:

Really, I was under the impression that the latest official update on those websites was 3.6.251.0.
I'll try to register with your IMEI trick and if that doesn't work, hopefully you could upload your download for me?

Nope, that didn't work, neither for Brightpoint nor for Daangard. Well, at least your link worked fine and it seems to be identical to my Brightpoint stock-ROM - at least on first sight.

Forget this download it's awful....
Very unstable, Cleartype problems, nothing better only worse..
I guess it is removed because of th homezone problems

are you referring to this link http://www.o2online.de/o2/kunden/technikundeinst/xdasoftware/xda2update/index.html ? The statement O2 posted there about the non availability has been up for at least 4 weeks! I have never seen it being available and I did check just about daily.
I had a replacement Xda II with 1.66.01GER delivered which worked fine. I did not notice any differences between the previous Xda II with 1.60.52GER installed and the 1.66.01GER.

that was the idea as wm6 was infront of you when you go in the athena forum you got

2.athena upgrade
3.athena accessories
4.athena mobile 6
please read and search before you post, i intentionaly gave you the asian link as there was no way you should have miss wm6 for athena.

Cant use this if you have a Non HTC version
I just thought i would tell people who have a Ameo or any other operater supplied version of the HTC Athena that you cant use the HTC site for the WM6 upgrade. You have to give them the IMEI number and if it aint one from there company it wont accept.
Does anyone have a downloaded version of this that they could add to the site or could they send me a link to there HTC Authentic version of WM6.

I'm not going to let this get out of hand, but I think that before people are allowed to become mods they need to know some of the "unspoken rules" that exist in this forum (for the reasons given earlier).

Most mods are well aware of the rules (spoken or unspoken) however I hope you do understand that once in a while something is not as clear as it seems at the time a mod takes action, also new mods need some time to adjust to the "job", a bit of patience and polite discussion goes a long way I'm hapy to see you're at least trying not to let this get out of hand.

Do you know if the WWE ROM for the Raphael will allow use of 3G network in US?
Also, is it please possible to prepare a keyboard fix to allow use of the HTC WWE builds on local keyboard layout? Similar to the fix someone put together for Tilt with cooked ROMs.

LOL, you're asking a lot for a phone that has yet to be released. According to Expansys US the Touch Pro should be released on August 4th, Quad Band (which means it will work on 3G networks in US), and the keyboard fix you are talking about (compliments of Taurus Bulba) is a group of keymapping registry edits, which I don't know why you would even be asking about at this point since a non-HTC branded version of this is not going to be available in the US for a VERY long time.

That's because the cab appears to be the version of Pocket IE that ships with Windows Mobile 6.1 and not Pocket IE 6.

Seems that this would be something worth sharing if it were out there. I believe that there is an OEM but I can't find it.
Can I assume no one has PIE 6 (Not 6.1 PIE)?
Oh, it's out there. It's in NueROM-m 201 and in the ROM by GaMedic. Lots of folk are really happy with it. Personally, I find it to be very slow compared to PIE.
