I'm looking for a as2p headset to use with my TyTN. I need a small transmitter with a 3.5 mm audio jack for using with a customised earphone.
I was about so buy the HTC BH-S100 but I've seen in many forums that the volume is too slow with it ! And as I'm planning to use it in my car too, I need a sound volume high enough.
Maybe someone knows another transmitter ?
What about i-Tech ClipR35

Try the Tritton Bluestream AX, it's a bit expensive but it was worth it. I love the OLED screen since i dont have to take my phone out to see whose calling. the sounds pretty good too and u can upgrade it's firmware too

After using this device, 1 month straight.. It stays in my pocket 11 hrs at work. Streaming audio, works like a champ.

I've got the Motorola S705. The sound quality is good (with original earphones), the battery is quite good (2hrs charging for 6-8hrs of music), it also got FM radio. The detection of the device is fast and easy to do. The OLED screen is quite readable in sunny days... But navigating in the device's options is a little bit laggy.
For me it's a good headset. Now it's time for you to make a choice

The only issue I have had with the S705 is that sometimes when you try to asnwer the phone the S705 goes offline and requires the unit to be powered off and on again.
I haven't been able to re-create the problem.
I also notice the lag, but it isn't that big of a deal-I've been having more issues with the various media players in their time to switch tracks when shuffle playing my library (2,000+ songs, AAC-HE encoded).
I never had the "answering" problem on my S705... Am I lucky ? But it's true that the lag is not very big.
It's a good device but not well known as Plantronics' headset.

(1) Yes, being a Class 1 device it does have a large range, but it's dependent on the other device its connected to. In other words, you're stuck with longest distance of the shortest device in the chain. Since most of the phones out there are Class 2 devices (10 m), you're going to be limited by the class 2 device range. And for all practical purposes, the usable range is usually about 30 to 50% of its advertised range.
(2) I do not believe it has noise cancellation, but I haven't had any issues with noise being a problem.
I am simply in love with my Plantronics 590's.
1. No one ask me if I'm on a headset during a phone call and the clarity is top notch.
2. The music is clear, crisp. I have no problem connecting to my 8125 or the Nokia 5300 I have.
3. If you get the more expensive A package (instead of the E package) or buy it aftermarket, it comes with an adapter that goes into any 3.5mm headset (plasma tv, computers, etc....) allowing you to connect and listen to that device in stereo. I've been at least 35 meters away and had a clear audio signal with no signal or quality loss. Movies, videos and regular tv sound awesome. Also if the device you are connecting with has equalizer settings the headset sound does as told.
4. I've had other Plantronic devices before ( a usb headset with dsp for gaming). This device was destroyed by my son and when I sent it in for repair the warranty was honored and a new set was sent to me although the product is out of production! That goes far with me when a company actually stands behind it's product.
5. They look good to me.

I've had an i-Tech ClipR35 for a year or so now and I'd recommend people stay away from it. I don't use it for calls, just to listen to music while at the gym or doing other physically intensive things when I don't want my Hermes in my pocket. It actually left it at one machine and got half way across the gym before the music started to drop out, at least 50 meters if not 75m.
However it's buggy. Sometimes while running on a treadmill I'll hit the "skip-forward" button to skip to the next track and it will inexplicably turn off, switching all music to the Hermes' quite loud speaker. Bad time to be listening to Eddie Murphy's "Party all the Time". It doesn't want to connect to the phone; I have to soft-reset, then "set as wireless stereo" in comm manager for it to connect every time I power it on.
The volume is also a little on the weak side for me. I want to the max volume to be ear splitting so when I'm biking along a busy road I can overpower the road noise. I have good Sennheiser ear buds that can seal out alot of noise but I always have the clip at 90-95% of the volume under normal conditions.
I want to replace it but it wasn't until recently that there were many other options, and they're all still on the expensive side for replacing something that is operational if buggy.
hey wazmo, just to update u... i finally purchased the sony DS980.... and did not go for the Moto!
When i put 2 and 2 together.... i simply ended up liking the Sony piece....
will let u know how good it is.... soon...
I also use a Plantronics 590 and it is really good. Bass sounds good on it, it has a telescoping mic and the controls are easy to use on the side. The only gripe I have about it is the flashing blue ring. It flashes blue every 3s when it is paired to a device, it's fairly bright and would be annoying had I not wrapped it in electrical tape.
They are fairly comfortable, however after a couple of hours they start to hurt my due to the thin padding. Battery life is really good,
The next pair I will be purchasing will be Motorola S805.
Jabra BT320s, works really well....pair of sony earphones to go with....nice.

well i will let you know the moto h700 worked like **** on mine the volume was low. If i wasnt in a busy restaurante and in my car with windows up i could barely hear anything i want to know what people think also

I have the exact same problem with my Motorola HS820 bluetooth headset, extremely low volume, voice command never understands what I'm saying........it sucks!

Ones I have tried:
gennum nxgen 5500 plus - http://www.gennum.com/audio/index.htm - the only one that was worth using it actually cut out the background noise i had a bus drive pass me my gf never even heard the bus i could talk on the phone while in the bathroom and my gf could not hear the echo it worked everywhere it took a while to charge but its not bad and was a bit flimsy it broke after about a month and a half because the ear clip broke off in my pocket now having read around i wish i had kept the broken one and contacted gennum because as i have been told other places if you call them and tell them they just ship out replacements barely even asking what happened the one i want to try that i haven't is the gennum zen headset which looks to do the same as the 5500 plus but is a little more stylish in my opinion and has a technology called leap which helps with face to face conversations with people in crowded areas as well although the downside to these units are there are not many places that carry the 5500 plus especially around me here in tennessee and the only place that carries the zen headset is ecost.com which if by some odd odd chance i didn't like the zen headset i couldn't return it because because ecost.com only allows you to exchange for other items on their website and with 179.99 price tag for it i am not gonna risk not being able to get my money back being more then half as much as my phone
nokia n80 - not to bad but so small it would miss direct the mocriphone and pick up something else and not my voice and hurt the inside of my ear picked up alot of background noise
jabra jx10 - had a big problem with it charging i tried 3 none charged turned out to be a bad charger once charged it picked up alot of background noise
motorola h500 - picks up background noise is loud enough most of the time but gets uncomfortable and rubs the outside of your ear canal raw if worn all day
motorola h700 - does better with background noise and is loud enough most of the time love the charging time 45 minutes to do a full charge but also get uncomfortable and rubs the outside of your ear canal raw if worn all day
plantronics m3000 - don't bother just background noise everywhere
plantronics voyager 510 - picks up less background noise but is just a bit big even though it is light although for the most part it is secure all the time and fairly comfortable
plantronics discovery 640 - great but after long perisods of wear after about a month or so the eargel begins to wear thin on the back and get rough and ended up rubbing my ear raw on the inside
plantronics discovery 645 - haven't tried it yet but from everything i have heard the battery life goes way down the drain when used with the dsp turned on and doesn't work that great anyway
motorola - hs850 just flops around to much on the ear as well as not loud enough and doesn't have any noise reduction and pics up all background noise
plantronics explorer 320 - really hurts the inside of my ear didn't even give it enough time to try thoroughly but from what i could tell it picks up background noise everywhere

Im using the hs500 and for the most part its been good. I agree as it may pick up background noise but its the most comfortable headset ive ever worn. The range is also pretty good but i havent compared this to other headsets.
I also have a jabra bt800. This headset is feature packed but is just too bulky. It bothers me when i have it on too long and i dont really want to go out in public with it. It even has caller id though.
My question ..
Is there any headset that works with voice command? Im suprised microsoft havent pushed out a fix for this.
Also anyway to listen to media player through my motorola or do i absolutely need a stereo headset

hbh-662 works great, good sound volume and the sound is better than using the handset itself.

I am. I had nokia phones for years, that is why I have the ck-7w. I have the speaker going into an adaptor so it is using my car audio speakers instead of the speaker they include.
Sound quality is very good, and there is plenty of volume. I have had conversations with the windows down at 70 mph. No one has ever complained they cant hear me. Although, I do naturally raise my voice when I am talking on it.
An issue is the voice dial. I didnt have many problems with the included voice tag software (although there were times it did not work) But using MS voice command has been a problem. When it does work, it works great, it always recognizes what I am saying. But it seems after making a call or two with it, the car-kit button stops working. A double press will redial the last call, and then a single press will end it, but a single press or press and hold (what is supposed to start voice command) no longer does anything. And voice command works great from the phone.
My only other issue, is when I get an incoming call from someone on a cell phone in my contacts list, sometimes I cant hear them at all and they can barely hear me. I never had this problem from an incoming land line phone call, and all outgoing calls are fine.
Actually one other thing (though it is not an issue for me) anytime a call comes in, the phone (I have an 8125) sends a generic ringer to the car kit. Whatever ring tone you have specified, rings from the phone itself, but not from the car kit. I really dont care about this, but others might.
I would just really like to get the bluetooth connections fixed.
Cardo Scala 500
I am a big fan of the Cardo Scala 500. I bought one three years ago, and was very pleased with it. When it was broken earlier this year, I decided to try some Moto products, none of which provided the noise cancelling that I needed...I spend alot of time in my car...so I went back the Scala 500, and I absolutely love this headset.
It's comfotable to wear for as long as you need to, the noise cancelling works exceptionally well, it comes with a lanyard and a belt clip, and it's inexpensive! It is compatible with voice recognition programs, and the volume is fantastic! I actually find myself turning it down. I have bought both of mine on eBay for about $40 shipped.
I highly recommend this headset.
SCALA is cool
Yeah Scala is really great, I amazed at its capacity to remain charged. I have charged it less often and it remains charged. Real value for money, connects smoothly to my O2 Mini S. No problem with voice activation. Great volume. Simply super.

Any recommendations on the best bluetooth unit for the tytn? I would also like to pair it with another phone sometimes, if that makes a difference.
I'm only looking at using it for voice calls and skype...don't care about music playback, etc...

I use the Jabra Jx10.
It works great and is easy to switch to anther phone (just turn off the last phone used and it auto connects to the next phone it was paired with). Might be an easier way, but this does work.
Only negative I have with all bluetooth is I can hear the hiss sound very well. But I have that problem with all bluetooth. Friend of mine has the exact same phone and bluetooth and he can't hear the hiss at all. But then again I think he must be going death.
My next bluetooth to try is the jawbone. Once it comes out in black.
My BT headset
I've got the Plantronics Discovery 645. Overall, I'd say it's very good. Great sound, people tell me I sound good, pretty good range, etc. I generally keep it on the lowest volume level, and that's just loud enough for me.
My only complaints are:
1. Whenever I answer using the BT headset button, it takes about 1-2 seconds for the audio stream to fully kick in. (That could be a BT thing, not just this headset.) But occasionally my TyTn's BT is off (I've noticed that it sometimes turns off overnight...still trying to figure out why), and when I try to answer using the BT headset button, I end up waiting about 3 seconds before I notice that there's something wrong. Then it's a mad scramble to get my TyTn out of the holster and answer manually.
2. The soft-gel earpiece, although soft and comfy, isn't a perfect fit for my ear. After putting it in and adjusting it, if I move my head just a little too fast, it will start to come loose to the point where I need to push it back in. I end up fiddling with it to find the "snug" point where it's secure enough to stay in. (Yeah I could use the little wire whip to hook over my ear, but I wear glasses, and that makes it uncomfortable.)
If this BT headset ever gives out (or my wife decides she wants it instead), I'll be checking out other BT headsets. Until then, it's good enough for the price.
So far I had more than 20 BT units. My latest one is simply the best.

No clip. but not like similar units with no clip, this one if very comfortable. You get in the box 3 sizes of ear/gel adapters. try and see which one fits you most and there you go.

Get one of the new jawbones. It blows everything else away. I have owned every headset mentioned here and returned them all within 30 days.. and with disappointment. I have been able to carry on a conversation without raising my voice in a convertible with the top down (windows up) at triiple digit speeds. It is the only headset that has been reasonably quiet on the other end enough that the person is willing to chat with me. THe buttons take some getting used to, and so does the fit wih all the included options. Try them out until you are sure it fits snugly.

I second your opinion. I love my jawbone. I can talk to anyone 2 inches away from my washing machine, and they can't even hear it when it's running. Truly amazing. Check it out at www.jawbone.com.
I just got back to work with a brand new HBH-IV835 and I have to say it's dissapointing.
The sound from the speaker is a bit muffled, like it's missing treble. Other end complains that my sound gets also muffled under noisier environments (Computer room).
Other complaints are the loysy answer/reject button, and no way to change the volume.
When the battery runs low, the earpiece won't alert the user in anyway (or not that I've heard) but just dies silently leaving you wonder what the hell happened.
On the plus sides, it sits comfy in the ear and it's light and looks cool.
Verdict: I'm gonna test drive this over the weekend and prolly take it back to the store and try Jabra JX10 instead. The sound quality is just lame.
I use the Sony Ericsson DS970 and find it great.
It wasn't without tirals and tribulations though as it was originally rubbish and I was quite disapointed.
I searched the forums and found that a hwhole host of bright people had made patches for the issues that work for most headsets.
To start I downloaded and installed the fit4cat tweaker (Now 2.0) which has boosted the audio quality and done a load of other funky things to my phone so that application is a must! for the Hermes.
l also downloaded a cab from somewhere called A2DPfix.CAB which stopped the skipping.(Yes.. it seems you need both)
THere is also another patch called bluetooth Voice command.cab that stops the Hemes occasionally outputing the audio to the phone rather than the headset and stops the voice command talking over your conversation.
Is there anything left that could be fixed?? Yes.. there are still no tags for numbers from the phone but I can live with that. And sometimes the phone behaves a little slow when reading mail whilst listening to music and its downloading something. but thats ok for me.
All these patches are available if you read the forums and take in what has been said so you can find them.

After raving about mine, all of the fellows in the office are getting them. They're that good. It's the only BT earpiece that my girlfriend will let me talk to her on.

Please post in detail about compatibility and functionality. My current headset the flamingo really BLOWS with the 8525. My Jawbone is coming on Friday and I am planning on doing a hard reset for the arrival.
MSVC over BT has been a total disaster. Now I just want BT that works.

JAWBONE REVIEW
So here is my short review of the Jawbone (Bluetooth) based off only a few hours of testing. Look for an edit if things change.
First of all... this is the best presented Bluetooth I have ever received. Just wait until you open the box, it almost makes you want to take a picture.
But that's just fluff now the real stuff.
Calls are noticeable better on my end.
The Bluetooth hiss is almost gone for me, and I imagine most would say non exist at all.
Noise Shield seems to work well. I turned on my bathroom fan and shower as a "loudness" test then called my wife. She could not hear the fan at all, and could only hear a slight static from the tub running. (which is very loud).
Outgoing calls seem to be the same as my Jabra JX10. At least to my wife. I think it sounds better when I had some one call me on my new jawbone.
It fits very well. I have trouble with some ear loops and ear buds on other Bluetooth I have tried, but they provide you with enough to get a near perfect fit. I can wear it without the ear loop like my JX10 with only minimal fear of it falling out.
I do not use voice command so I cannot rate.
I do use voice dial and so far it has not had any trouble in a variety of noise levels (further testing needs to be done for me to feel comfortable on this, but it is at least as good as the JX10).
It does not call back someone when double clicking (like it should on some phones) I love this as I store it in my pocket and am prone to clicking the button by mistake.
It rings faster than my phone rings. Meaning that I can hear it in my ear before it ever rings out loud on my phone.
Pressing the phone answer key auto connects to the jawbone. I can live with this, but I personally would like it not to auto answer... I mean normally if I hit the green talk button on my phone it is because I can't find my Bluetooth so I would rather talk on the phone and not it.
It is noticeable larger than the jx10. Which see my last part about loosing my Bluetooth is not necessarily such a bad thing. however it is very light not light enough to drop it by mistake, but light enough to wear on your ear for a long time. (Although IMHO you should not wear it on your ear all day long, the borg look is just not in. but this is just my editorial opinion.)
The manual says it is Bluetooth 1.2 complaint. So I am not sure if it is really a Bluetooth 2.0 that happens to work down to 1.2
Despite that I can still reach the same range as my JX10 (which I am pretty sure is 2.0).
It comes with an AC charger and a USB cord. (USB plus into AC charger so you can charge either way). The Manual it comes with is top notch.
OVERALL: I like this Bluetooth. If my opinion changes I will post it. Sound is the best I have used on incoming and ties for outgoing with my JX10. And I have used about 6 different BT over the past 2 years. It looks good and feels good.
Oh and for all you who hate the flashing blue light... this one is a much less annoying dim white.

I bought the Logitech FreePulse BT headphones about a year ago and have been in love with them ever since. The fit and design aren't that great, and it doesn't have buttons for changing the songs. However, all of this is made up for by the amazing sound quality.
I have been using them religiously ever since...with my laptop, desktop (with the provided receiver) and Touch Cruise.
I decided it was time to upgrade, and get something that had what these dont; buttons for changing the songs, a mic, and the ability to switch between calls and music; all with good sound quality.
A friend recommended the Motorola s9's. I tried them, and absolutely hated them. I loved the features that they had, and I loved how lightweight they were...but the sound quality was so bad -- it was tinny, no bass at all, crackly, and hollow...like something I would expect from a pair of headphones that come free with another product.
I returned those, and then purchased the Motorola HT820's on ebay. These were a bit heavier, but I liked the fit better. These also had the buttons for switching between songs, and had a mic for calls too. However, they suffered from the same issue as the s9 - absolute crap sound quality.
I have been checking out alot of different reviews for other products, and am stuck. People never seem to agree about anything, and the reviews are always mixed.
So, I'll ask you guys here at XDA..
What do you think the best quality BT headphones are, that also have a mic, and remote control buttons?
Are there any studio quality monitors like ultimate ears that use bluetooth a2dp / handsfree?

Check the plantronics 855 it should be the best BT headset exist.
i bought a Sony Ericsson HBH-DS980 and its just perfect,
Basses are deep, and sound quality is just like my PC Speakers(logitech 5500 digital...)

Ha, I thought I was the only one. The Logitech simply are amazing in terms of sound quality, bar none. I just wish they had the AVCRP and handsfree profiles and I could deal with the fit issues and the fact that its kinda bulky. Honestly, I can't say anything is better and I've tried many. Unless Sony has vamped up its game in the last 6 months, they don't compete at all...although maybe the SonyEriccson line is better (althought I got into A2DP to avoid tangled wires, so earbud form factors are not an option for me). I have high hopes for the Jabra BT8030 though and may pick them up one day as an addition to my current A2DP headphones. The BT8030 certainly looks like it has awesome sound.
I personally use Samsung SBH-170 mainly bc of their convenience and small size. The sound was better than everything else I had tried, but nowhere near the FreePulse. FYI the FreePulse is the only headset that you could turn the Bluetooth A2DP thoroughput/bandwith all the way up on the PC w/o any stuttering.

All the ones i've tried from best buy \ circuit city suck compared to those, sound quality wise. I do agree that the fit is not the best, and others are way better, but since I'm a musician \ producer my main concern\priority in the end will always be sound quality.
I would try to order some online; but alot of places don't like people returning things and then they take a month to refund your card, etc. :-\
I saw some real good ones on ebay a couple weeks ago, but I forgot what they were called. They were labled as professional audio quality, so I'm gonna check into those for now I guess.
I still have a2dp issues with the freepulse + polaris tho..like lag, skips, weak signal, etc. Do you have the same problem sonus?
No, I don't have any serios A2DP problems, although maybe once every 15min I might get a skip. Have you tried editing the A2DP settings in the registry?

Turn your bluetooth off then on to make the changes take effect. Lower values will also give you better battery life, and reduce processor usage while a2dp is being used.
Thanks very much for the info..i changed both values to 50 and turned on true stereo (I can't believe joint stereo was enabled by default -- YUCK!) It seems to have helped..
I just listened to four songs in a row using core player and I only got 3 skips..believe it or not that is a big improvement
But the problem when coreplayer is playing and i press the power button it still skips for 2-3 seconds every time.
It's better, but I still am kind of suspicious because my laptop and desktop have 0 skips at all, no problems whatsoever...but i guess mobile devices are different sooo..yuh..I'm somewhat content now at least =]

It might be that HTC underclocks our devices when the power button has been pushed. So try a lower bitrate, experiment with a value like 45 or even 40 to see if the music quality is audibly degraded, you should get no skipping at that point.
yeah, it definately has something to do with the bluetooth settings too because when i have the audio adapter connected (Wired) to my car's aux i can push the power button all day long and no skips, and really no skips when playing songs at all in core player...maybe when a notification comes up but thats to be expected i guess

I bought the V Three BTH-18 Bluetooth Headset from expansys and I have to say that it's working very well. No problem pairing, answering or making calls with voice speed dial. Also it's very small!! (Mind you, I've not tested it with programs like coreplayer, etc, for music or movies...! I suppose I'm not interested in that feature)

the Sony DR-BT22 they fit perfect on the ears sound quality is awsome ....I know that I have a Kaiser but stereo headsets work with all devices.

BT2.0 if possible as that should theoretically support higher bitrates. The vast majority of stereo headphones are BT 1.2 however. For the most part newer 1.2 headphones will work just fine.
I have a Nokia BH-503. I think it's great (good sound, easy to use controls for music and calls, and very comfortable).
Only problem is that after I turn it off, when I turn it on, even though it reconnects in phone mode automatically, I have to manually reconnect for music. I think this is a problem with other headsets as well though.

I have had a HTC Dream for about 3 - 4 months and so far i've tried two bluetooth headsets with it.
Dell BH200 Bluetooth Headset
Pros: Awesome Music Quality, Comfortable
Cons: On answering a call it would disconnect and shutdown, making it useless for that purpose.
Motorola S9 Bluetooth Headset (My experience, not sure about in general)
Pros: Also has good music quality, Allowed me to answer calls, good call audio quality,
Cons: Not too comfortable but manageable, I heard (and experience) that it does not do well with moisture (sweat, etc), and most important of all it tends to stutter constantly. If i am streaming music (Over Pandora for instance) it stutters to the point of being unlistenable. Sometimes it has bouts of clear playing but no longer than 60 seconds. With WIFI off as is usually recommended, it's a little better as in the stuttering happens at 0:45 - 1:30 minute intervals.
So after this very lengthy explanation here's my question: Is there a bluetooth headset on this earth that will do at least the following:
- Play stereo music of at least decent quality over A2DP (Willing to compromise on quality for functionality)
- Be able to answer calls
- NO STUTTERING!!! even if only with wifi off. I can deal with having to turn wifi off but when it's already off and it still happens it's kind of annoying.

I've had good luck with both Jabra's BT3030 and Sony's DR-BT140Q headsets. The BT3030 is a dogtag-like device on a chain into which you can plug any standard headset. The DR-BT140Q is a more traditional all-in-one set with earpieces that rest against the outside of the ear.
I get almost no stuttering on either set with Wi-Fi turned off. The sound quality is good with both, though the BT3030 is better, with deeper bass. I've had the BT3030 for a few months and have had no problem answering calls. I've been using the DR-BT140Q for only a few days and haven't had any calls come through when I've been using the set, so I can't say how it will work. But I don't anticipate any problem, based on how well everything else is functioning.

I'm using an iTech R35. It's a small thing with a mic, buttons and a 3.5mm jack.
Once in a while (2 to 3 times an hour) i gets a small lag but it very rare. Works greta for both music and phone call. I'm using sennheiser px200 with it or my blackberry bold 9000 headset.
I'm using a Jabra BT320S and it works very well.
No problems taking calls, pretty decent audio quality (even with original earbuds), and almost no stuttering with WiFi off.
I know these are a bit old now, but I would imagine that whatever Jabra replaced them with would probably be ok too.

Just bought a Jabra BT3030 today and VERY impressed with it so far.
I have experienced absolutely no stuttering so far and all the buttons work perfectly.
The sounds quality is very good with some really good bass added to it which I always found lacking with the wired headset.
I also like it as it can be used with normal headphones if I wish, although the included earphones are very good... and most important of all... it looks cool!

Ok I have have a few BT headsets with my G1:
Plantronics 855 - excellent noise canceling and stereo, the ear loop was rather brittle and broke on me. I lost it . . . . highly recommend
Plantronics 655 - worthless, no wait . . . I can ebay it.
BlueAnt Z8i - had to reconnect after each recharge, low audio levels, callers that were used to the 855 complained about background noise, when it got run over I smiled
Jawbone Icon - Wow I have had it for a week and I love it, it stays connected, it is loud and clear, the noise cancellation is almost as good as the 855 (I thought it would be better than the 855 because of the Jawbone name). It has caller ID (number only, but hey not bad). It took a week to get invited to the MyTalk website, but I love the Dial2Do app (just a shortcut using the multifunction button to direct dial the service as far as I can tell). Still playing with Dial2Do, but I think I am going to load the voice dial app next. Only 1 week, but I am still finding little supprises.
I was on the fence and almost got the voyager pro, I have never seen a bad review of that one. It came down to the fact that I keep it in my pocket and I figured that I would break it quickly.
It is amazing what a BT aficionado one can become when the ear speaker on you G1 dies. . . .
free memory?
Before you shell out big bucks on a new headset, how much free memory do you have? I have a cheap southwing 202 ($20 from eBay) but it works just fine when i have more than 20mb of ram available. Running widgets and unused processes take ram away from big programs like pandora. Get a task manager from the market and clear up some ram, then see if that helps first.

im running a crappy nokia bh-601 and it works great when im at home or in the car (aka stationary) it gets.... i dont wanna say choppy. lets say the lyrics go "living is easy with eyes closed" (yes good song) if im walking/ jogging it will cut out at certian moments but continue the song on point ie. living is.............easy with eyes...........closed.
i should also note that this doesn't happen with calls

PS, I've owned the motorola s9 set and it sucked, 2 pairs I went thought... My ears hurt and they die if show water to them... sport my ass.
I went out like 20+ times snowboarding with this set in my helmet and in -20 degree C.. never a problem...
They seem to work best on 2.1 roms... not sure why, 1.6 roms will work but after answering a call you might need to power them off and back on to get the music to stop skipping... they work like a charm in 2.1 roms tho..

I got samsung sbh 500 - despite design disadvantages (must worry about two plastic elements that just like to disappear) it's one of most "well-sounding" headset - especially for music (I've tested plenty of them including almost all jabras)
I bought a pair from an ebay seller called "artyguru" (hxxp://stores.ebay.co.uk/Artyguru-Superstore) Brand I'd never heard of: "Bluedio" model number AV890, They cost about $10 (delivered) and I was amazed by how GOOD they sounded when paired to my G1. My son was jealous, so I bought HIM a second set, to use with his iPhone 3GS. Again, great music quality. The (tiny) BT module features two buttons, and two "rocker switches" - "Take Call" and "Play/Stop" buttons, and "vol+/-" and "advance/regress track" for the two-way rockers. One of my better EBay investments!

These problems are not necessarily with the BT device. There are some serious issues with BT on the Dream (all Android mostly) CM and TeamDouch has solved most of these issues with CM6.
I have the Jabra BT3030. With a little bit of hacking you can get this BT Necklace. It sounds great. Answers and stays connected. Very little skipping (unless in a 2.4Ghz busy area, lots of wifi, mobile wireless phones, wireless mouse...) I use to have pitch problems. When the phone was CPU busy, the music pitch would get higher and lower. (Well documented on Google) Since CM6 I rarely have problems with BT.
Where you are is important.
I've use an Altec 903 and Motorola S705 and had very different results.
The Altec sounds pretty good. But if I get away from anything around me, like in a parking lot, running outside, even walking in the gym away from any equipment or walls, it cuts out a LOT. It seems to need something to reflect off of, or I need to wear the G1 above elbow height. Armbands are good.
The Motorola is rock-solid, scary so. But sound quality is marginal.
Run a 2.2 ROM and use the DSP Manager to get some bass into it, and mild compression if you can bear it.

As the title suggests, this is my review of the Creative Aurvana Platinum headset. Since i use it almost exclusively with SGN3, it seems logical to post my review here.
As this constitutes my view of the product, i think that a couple of words about me would be in order.
First: I´m no audiophile. I don´t own heaps of headsets, amplifiers, speakers and whatnot. Consequently i can not provide a comparison to scores of other headsets. I am simply a guy that's been searching for a bluetooth headset, that suits my purposes, for a very long time.
I have however tried several solutions along the line and can obviously provide a comparison within those limitations.
Up until Aurvana Platinum i have, among others, tried Jabra Tag, Clipper and Halo 1. Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970, Motorola S9, and finally a positively ancient HTC S100.
With that aside, on to the main event:

Charge time: 2 hours (Fairly accurate)
Play time: 15 hours without Active Noise Cancellation. (Haven´t timed it objectively but not entirely off. Easily an 8 hour work day with noise cancellation).
Talk time: 21 hours without Active Noise Cancellation. (Could very well be right).
Weight: 332g / 11.7oz
The headset comes i a high quality cardboard box.
Apart from the headset you´ll find an airplane adapter, a tanglefree cable for wired connection, a carrying pouch, a quick start guide and a standard USB/Micro USB cable for charging. No mains charger though.
The carrying pouch is an afterthought and fleece lined which saves it from being a downright insult. Now it´s merely a disgrace :crying:
The build quality feels solid enough for everyday use and well put together, allthough i can´t help noting that all the shiny polished-metal surfaces are in fact plastic. Apart from the charger and audio jacks there isn´t a scrap of metal visible anywhere.
I haven´t tried purposefully dropping them on the floor and have yet to drop them by accident but i feel they should survive the occasional drop from head height.
Make no mistake though A toughened, Mil-grade, provide-music-to-coalminers headset this is definitely not
Controls have just the right tactile feedback and feel nice & firm without any wobble.
Wearing comfort is excellent. You can easily wear these for hours on end. The foam/faux leather pads are soft and pliant. After a while i tend to forget they´re there.
Firmness of fit is adequete for office work, driving, leisurely bicycling and other commuting without taking any special considerations.
Jogging, fitness and other heavy physical activity: Look elsewhere.
Operation & controls:
The only thing you´ll find on the left earcup is the micro USB jack for charging. Everything else is on the right earcup.
A multifunction button turns the headset on/off, starts bluetooth pairing, plays music, pauses music, accepts calls, rejects calls, promts for battery stats by voice and starts voice dial. All dependant on short clicks, long clicks, double clicks and very long clicks as well as context.
In combination with the volume up/down buttons the multifunction button also provides reset function and pairing of two headsets to the same source allthough i haven´t tried this for lack of a second compatible headset.
The NFC area is clearly marked below the multifunction button.
Two buttons provide previous/next track. As mentioned there are two separate buttons for volume up/down. A sliding switch for enabling/disabling active noise cancellation. A button for toggling between the three different noise cancellation profiles and finally a 2,5 mm headphone jack.
The headphone jack is for media consumption only. As there are only 3 contact points on the male jack i have to conclude that you cannot use the headset for wired phone calls.
Pairing up with Note 3 is a breeze. No need to turn on the headset. Just put it on, go to your home screen on your phone and simply slide the back of your phone slowly down the right earcup.
You get a generic female voice stating "Powering on" followed by a pairing signal and you´re good to go. If you´re still at the home screen tapping the multifunction button on the headset once will start music playback from last played track and list.
For some reason disconnecting and turning off the headset, on the other hand, seems quirky and somewhat illogical to me.
Get this: First NFC tap turns the headset on, starts bluetooth on your phone, pairs up and is ready to play.
Second NFC tap disconnects and turns off bluetooth on your phone but headset stays on. You have to turn power off manually
Yes you might want to pair up to something else without NFC right? Wrong - manually pairing involves turning the headset on and keep pressing the multifunction button to make the headset visible to other devices.
But then you might want to keep the headset on to use the Noise cancellation for some peace & quiet on, say - a plane trip right? Wrong again - The slider switch turns noise cancellation on/off totally independent of the "Powering on/off" sequence by the multifunction button.
It´s not a deal breaker for me. I just don´t get it - is all.
Voice dialling has its own issues. When you activate voice dialling and your Note3 is active/on the home screen what you get is S-voice.
For the English-native part of you this works great - Calling Peter, Paul or Mary.
If you, like me, however have to call Jørgen Sørensen or Nivinnguaq Kristoffersen it doesn´t work. I spent a short while trying to figure out if it would be possible to point voice dialling at a different app. Couldn´t make it work.
Sound quality:
This, in my humble non-audiophile opinion, is where the headset really shines. But damn they sound nice. Compared to other headsets i ever tried, Bluetooth AND wired, they´re in a league totally of their own. Both listening to music and doing phonecalls i´ve never listened to anything remotely comparable. My conversation partners have all reported loud and clear speech. Music is well defined. I can clearly hear the various instruments. Even turning volume all the way up on AC/DC "skies on fire" the bass stays dry and well defined. Drum beats are short and to the point. Brian Johnson´s easily recognized vocal stays clear. :angel:
The bluetooth connection is not totally wired-rock-solid, but again it is totally the best experience i ever had wireless connection wise.
The noise cancellation is also the best i ever heard, albeit i can only compare with one other wired headset whose make & model i sadly don´t remember.
Being a powerplant engineer i decided to push the envelope a bit.
I turned the noise cancellation up to high (called airplane mode) and wore them in the pictured generator room where about a megawatt of diesel engines tried to ruin my hearing.
What can i say - Noise cancellation works. I had no trouble at all hearing the engines but the sound was very far from the usual eye-watering roar.
If i had to work there for hours on end i´d resort to industri standard protection but for a short visit - no problem.

Actually I usually do NFC them every time.
To me it feels easier than switching them on, followed by enabling bluetooth on your Note3.
Will try it your way and see what happens.
EDIT:
Just tried it. If you turn the headset on and turn on bluetooth on your phone, the headset will show up as a paired device.
You can the manually select the headset and you´re connected.
You then have to shut down bluetooth again manually when you´re done.
Even if you NFC disconnect.

Correct. I didn´t add price. It was a deliberate choice as prices vary around the globe on account of taxes & customs, shipping expenses, available vendors etc.
For example Amazon wont sell electronics to Greenland. In Denmark there´s a 25% VAT.
But maybe you´re right. I haven´t read many reviews without a price.

I have tested a number of premium headsets with noise cancelling mics and they all have this same problem - you can't hear even your own voice which makes talking really akward.

No - To me, wearing comfort is excellent. About the only thing i seem to agree upon with that techradar dude.
Now - this thought might be borderline paranoid but better safe than sorry. As my profile states i live in Greenland - as in the arctic part of the world. In the wintertime (we just had a small blizzard & currently have about a yard of snow on the ground) the air is bone dry.
I received the headset in february and consequently have no "summertime experience"
Also NYC is about 20 degrees latitude more southward than Nanortalik. Maybe the increased moisture in the air would add to the problem.
I really wouldn´t know.

Yes, sadly in NYC it gets so damn humid. I've tried these types of bluetooth headsets and each one is a nightmare in the summer. In the winter I wear them over my hat, so it's less of an issue. But when it's warm, every time I take the headphones off, I need a napkin to wipe my ears. Gross.
Anyway, I just saw the price of these. Too rich for my blood. So I guess I don't really have to worry about it anyway.
