I search for some help to upgrade my xda,
here is the situation:
I am French, I live in Vietnam and I buy an xda II in Hong Kong
it's an english device and I would like to let it in this language
My ROM version is 1.66.00 WWE
My ExtRom (what is this ?) version is 1.66.165
My Windows version is window 2003
Some times, without asking me, this device don't want to give me the screen (black screen) and when I remove the batery or when I press the soft reset button, It's doing a Hard reset ...
Well, This is a windows device and my (pc) experience show me that we cannot trust those kind of software. So, I backup my data. No problem.
I know this before buying this device that backup and don't trust is the the way to keep your data with windows.
I have also a clock problem, sometimes no alarm and the clock seams to be crasy (my time settings change during the night ...). For me, this is a basic features of a PDA: clock ! So also, don't trust your clock ...
But, now, I would like to update this device for tring to solve those problems
(this is not a batery problem, after this hard reset every thing is ok, the batery is 90 %, I also try with my second batery)
So my question is:
What is this ROM Version ?, on myxda.com they speak about the new version 1.6.0 WWE !!! Is there some ROM for Asia, ROM for Europe, ROM for other planets, which of course doesn't follow the same version rules ?
Can I use a 1.6.0 ROM from xda?, is it newer than the 1.6.6 ROM (it seams crasy but I really asking myself about this)
Is there an update for W2K3 ppc ? Where I can find my W2k3 version number (and I search also for my licence for this software, but this is another problem ...)
Do you have some links on my device, sometimes, when I go to myxda.com it seams to that they speak about a different device that the one I buy in HK

The latest ROM version so far is 1.72 supplied mu I-Mate. That I upgraded my XDA II to. The battery life improved and etc. . .

There are fix for this. The alarm features ...

Your internal battery is dead, may be. Some time you installed new software that are conflict with current setting of the XDA II. So becareful with installing new software. Each software installation be sure to soft reset to make sure which software will cause problem....
I experienced it alot of time.
Regarding your question about ROM version, there are some ROM provided by O2, T-Mobile and I-Mate. Mine is I Mate Rom version 1.72 which so far i am happy with that.

99% of O2 Atom life in Saudi Arabia has the problem of
( ERROR : customer or model Id Error ) while updating any of the new roms from O2 web page .
after my deep investigation about this issue i found this : on boot load screen it tells USB detected ( while its not connected to the usb cable ) and you can not run any function inside the boot loader screen , although the great service center team in Saudi don't know how to fix this problem .
it will be really highly appreciated cause it will not help only me to fix my device but lots of other users have the same problem .
When you get into the Welcome screen of DSUU, open X:\Windows\Temp\pass.32 (where X is your computer's system disk) with an hex editor, and you will surely find something valuable

There are 3 characters in pass.32 that is related to the identification process, like "WWE", "CHT" or something else. For example, if you want to flash an English ROM into a traditional Chinese device, just change it from WWE to CHT. I don't have ROMs in other languages, so I don't know what language codes stand for others.

Use something like WinHex...
did the language modifecation with winhex , WWE / ARA but still having the same problem with the same error message
Well... I don't know much about that... Hope somebody will help you in advance...
You can give another try... Do not change language code, do not enter bootloader and run DSUU directly when you synchronized the device using ActiveSync with your PC.
i have the same problem here and as hero said lots of us in saudi arabia cant upgrade with the same problem

I have installed this new ROM.
I haven't noticed anything new yet (but It was just installed a few minutes ago...)
Any ideas what the improvements are ?
EDIT : so far i have noticed a few bug fixes (like when clicking on the battery icon u really get the powermeter now !) and an overall speed performance increase (video streaming is better - exploring the windows folder is much faster - etc. or maybe that's just because now I have a new clean install but I don't think this can be the only explanation).

It's Chinese. So unless you have the Iolite CID unlocked or a Chinese Iolite it's not possible to install this ROM.
Is there any way to change language to Polish in Iolite`s english WM 6.1 ? I`m looking for two weeks for complete polish rom to iolite`s. Please help.

This is Traditional Chinese ROM upgrade for Iolite.
If you did not buy the Iolite in Taiwan, you will not be able to download from HTC directly.
