Diamond tilt sensor apps - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo ROM Development

Anyone try the new applications people are making after figuring out the Diamonds tilt sensor?
I dunno if it matters but I was in 192 DPI and I am using sogarth's rom.
Sensor Test.exe - seems to work okay in landscape mode. (http://scottandmichelle.net/scott/cestuff/sensortest.zip)
Lunar orbit - Can't figure this one personally. (http://www.pocketmax.net/smf/index.php?topic=6380)
GSen - Haven't had time to test yet. (http://s-k-tools.com/index.html?m_util.html)

nice find i am trying these apps out now. the lunar orbit needs a little work but its not to bad of a start
the sensor test works best in portrait only because the controls and off by 90 deg and it seems to autorotate less
the gsen app toggle only seems to work once not sure why

cool
they all work.. wish there were more programs that use the gsensor

You don't have to wish, they have released a C++ and managed code SDK to the public. I looked briefly in the Diamond forum and it looks like people are making programs to ulitlize the scrolling like the 8.x opera and perhaps gesture based (IE shaking) profile changes.
I think the diamond apps have some issues with us because they Diamond is usually in portrait while we are usually in landscape.
Managed SDK: http://blog.enterprisemobile.com/2008/07/using-htc-diamonds-sensor-sdk-from-managed-code/
C/C++ SDK: http://scottandmichelle.net/scott/comments.html?entry=784
I tested the managed code and it seems to be working fine. I would like to make a program that auto roates specific programs like GSen but I am not sure how to disable the HTC from auto rotating and still read from the G Sensor

I have Gsen and Lunar Tilt working in AP5
Just want Teeter, that would be amazing

there's another little code snippet here.

which application let's you do this? I tried the level application but it doesn't tell me the degree of tilt.

I used the level application.
Started in lanscape mode, on a flat surface, face up, then calibrate.
Connected to the kb, and I read the value in the upper right corner....

Strange, I also used the bubble level application as in post 6, but it doesn't tell me the degree. It only tells me if the surface is level.

I am having a weird problem pictures are not rotating automatically when i rotate the phone. Sometime when i rotate the phone pictures goes blank. No matter whatever rom i use. My G sensor seems to work perfectly with other application i.e. teeter, opera and Calibration working as well. I tried to changed to interval value 150 ms but no luck. Anyone have anyidea? I tried few different rom no luck either. thanks in advance.
Hi, this is not the proper forum to discuss this particular inquiry. Have you tried the search button?
You may try changescreen or G-Config

What version of Album did you cook into your ROM? If it's version 3.0, the behaviour has changed.
The Album menu options will rotate but the image will stay in it's original photographed rotation - i.e. portrait or landscape.
hilaireg.... Thank you very much... I was wondering why menu was rotating not tha pictures? Got the answer.

G-Sensor on Titanium HomeScreen

There are some programs which allow users of HTC devices to specify what programs they want their G-Sensor working in. So they can specify that they do not want their titanium home screen to utilze the sensor.
The program will not work on the TG01 because it relies on the HTC G-Sensor driver. Is there a similiar program for the TG01?
Thanks!
I've not found anything that does this yet on the TG01 - the fact that the homescreen rotates is extremely annoying to me - especially as the wallpaper rotates too and then it tiles it - a very ugly effect. Wouldn't be soo bad if the interface rotated but left the wallpaper as it is.
For this reason i've disabled the G-sensor completely but i miss the functionality in other things, such as viewing photos and such.
Does anyone know a good way for the Tg01 to rotate without G-Sensor on-demand? Maybe by mapping a rotate function to the camera key?
Otherwise can the sensor be made less sensitive as 90% of the time when I pull the phone from my pocket it unlocks in landscape mode. Or rather it spends wasted time flicking between orientations so that I can't grab the unlock slider easily.
get a 800x800 wallpaper.....
ive you deactivated the g-sensor you can switch from portait to landscape etc with the vol. up key... just hold the button for 1-2 sec and the screen switch.
Perfect thank you! I either missed that in the manual or it wasn't in there.

[Q] Force counter-clockwise landscape mode on app

I run dailyroads voyager as dashcam. My sgs2 is seated in the carholder in the left corner of the front window, allowing the cables to be neatly stuffed away behind my doorrubbers.
But: this means I can only rotate the phone counter-clockwise. This is not supported by dailyroads voyager (or any other dashcam-app). They'll just display clockwise landscape, rendering the buttons etcetera upsidedown...
Is there any way to force counter clockwise? I read about it being implemented in some custom rom for another phone...

Anybody knows how to force counter-clockwise landscape?
I do hope someone replies here because I'd like the same thing. When I play games or hold the phone in landscape, my fingers usually end up covering the speaker. Forcing a counter-clockwise landscape orientation would be great. To the OP, I've looked around myself and haven't found anything.

Found it mentioned in Cyanogenmod... It is on it's way for the SGS2, so maybe if we wait just a little bit longer we can finally rotate counterclockwise (or left landscape versus right landscape, or 270 degrees, or whatever people call it).
Just can't be that hard, now can I it? Really no-one with an easy solution here?
Actually I would like to have 90 degrees landscape, I have by default 270 degrees rotation. This is annoyng because when I play games light sensor is in bottom left corrner. I put my finger over the light sensor and screen goes dark becasue my phone thinks that it is in the dark area. I don't know if I remember correctly but in the first run wizard it was set up. But I don't know where to change it now.
That's exactly what we want too... You're talking about the same

General observations and EMUI Desktop question

Hi,
Got my 20 Pro on Friday and so far I'm relatively pleased with it. There seem to be a few teething issues.
In-screen fingerprint scanner
- Doesn't work 100% of the time for me. More like 70% of the time.
- I find it less usefull than one on the rear. With a scanner on the rear you can use it to pull down the notifications whatever screen you might be in. ie I can be in the Browser and still pull the nitifications down with a swipe. I haven't found a way of doing that on the 20 Pro without coming out of the active app?
Some apps are not working?
- Just crashes straight away?
Gesture navigation
- coming from a Xiaomi it is clear where Huawei took their inspiration from. But it simply does not work as smoothly. Flicking up form the bottom should just take you home with a flicker of the previous apps coming up. Just a little thing but hey!
EMUI Desktop question
I also have a Mat 10 Pro on which I use the Desktop application extensively and it works very well. However with the 20 Pro the displayed resolution is much lower, as if it reduced from wqhd to hd? Is there a way around this? It is actually making it pretty useless.
Apps:
Are you talking about native apps? As they should have been thorough benchmarked against Pie 9.0 before being released on a phone. If its apps from Nougat or Oreo, then there's a possibility those apps require updates for suitability on the new OS.
Fingerprint:
Are you using the same pressure for each tap? Have you tried unregistered and re-registering your finger print again (touch different areas of your finger around the sensor area)?
EMUI Desktop:
Can you explain what is wrong with the resolution of FHD using desktop EMUI? Lower res (at least not under 720p HD) is good to prolong battery life...what sort of work are you doing (do you really need 2K resolutions? How did you find battery life with full res quality on M10P?

Hi, thanks for your answer.
You might well be right about the apps, some of them probably need updating to Pie. However, I'm having an issue connecting Android Wear notifications. There is a Wear Alert saying saying it needs aces to Notifications, which it has. When I click on the the link Wear just closes down. All the settings are correct and the watch (Huawei W1) is paired. So that's...annoying
I have deleted the fingerprints and re-registered them, it might be about 80% successful now. But it is more the loss of functionality which is a shame. A physical fingerprint sensor can be used to swipe down notifications much more easily. But hey ho.
The desktop just looks really zoomed in on the m20p compared to the m10p. Is there a way of zooming out? Unusable otherwise.
I think I might sell the m20p and get the Mi Mix 3, it has a physical fingerprint sensor, gestures work seamlessly for all launchers including Nova (really don't like the Chinese UI's - EMUI, MIUI etc...) and it has no notch.
Wait for build 122 if you aren't already on it. Widely discussed in multiple threads here...might fix one or more of your problems RE: wear/apps and the consistency of fingerprint. Cannot help you with Desktop function just yet.

I can't get desktop mode to work. Is it a specific cable I need? I use a USB-C to HDMI that works fine with my Note 9, but nothing at all happens.
Also, is there a way to use Wireless Projection to a Chromecast? Or any other tips on how this works...

I think it's a DPI not a resolution difference. Yes, I also find the lower DPI (larger fonts and elements) annoying. EMUI Desktop needs to have customization options.

Yes, you are right DPI, not res. It seems like a retrograde stepp to me.

The front fingerprint reader works 99% of the time for me. I find you simply have to press harder on it than a standard finger print reader. The pulling down the notification shade with the scanner is probably one of the least used features on any phone to be honest "shrug". Back readers are just so clumsy. Using my note now is like going back to the 80's in back to the future haha.
Flicking up with gestures on standard launcher works perfectly. It is the non standard launchers that will require updating.
As for the desktop mode, it's most likely down to your TV or a required update on the Mate. Also make sure you have the resolution on the phone set manually to the resolution you want.

Hmm, each to their own views on useful functionality. Personally, I find the ability to pull notifications down whilst using the phone, holding it with one hand and not having to close any apps useful. More so with the m20p since there is already an unlocking mechanism on the front.
No doubt it is non standard launchers causing the issue with gestures, but I can only say that they work perfectly on Xiaomi devices and Nova.
The irritation with the desktop is that the m10p displays fine on the same monitor. Some kind of dpi issue.

Samsung DEX is way better than either the m20p or m10p in terms of desktop environment on a smartphone. Checkout the various options for the screen resolution for the desktop on Samsung DEX.
has anyone managed to fix the resolution issue with desktop mode yet?
This is one of the main reasons I bought the mate 20 x and if the resolution isn't going to be fixed then I might be going to samsung unfortunately

mia3 problem with involuntary rotation

Hello... for some time now in my mia3 I have the problem that when I have a horizontal application either a game or the same youtobe on the screen it seems to go back to vertical mode and then horizontal.
I wonder if anyone would know why that is.
Thank you very much in advance.
It seems the sensors and system are not calibrated well enough to handle normal uses. It's overly sensitive to small angle changes. I find it switch the orientations back and forth automatically when it's put on the table from hand-held position.
I use this to set orientation for each app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.snowlife01.android.autorotatecontrolpro
It's not solving the problem, just sidestepping it.

Try to recalibrate gyroscope sensor, type in dialer *#*#6484#*#* and go to gyroscope section, calibrate. Find flat smooth surface and follow the instructions. It helped me when my phone didn't catch that I'm holding phone in horizontal position. After calibration it's perfect.

That was the first thing I did, as well as trying out many applications, and it's still the same.
Thank you very much.
Maybe there's something about how you're handling the phone.
Say, when putting the phone to the desktop by left hand, the phone would land on the surface by its (long) right side at the moment it leaves the palm. The screen face is tilted to the right somewhat. This is enough to trigger the auto rotation and irritating.
If the system can learn the habit, predict actual intention of the user and give it some delay before triggering the auto rotation, then the display can stay more stable. But I don't know where to set such trigger timing or delay etc.
Later I learn to touch down at the top (short) side of the phone first. Or use that aforementioned app to disable auto rotation on some apps, like browser.
BTW, my gyroscope is calibrated well, too.
