TouchFlo 3D - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

I saw it on the new HTC Diamond. Looks awesome. Is there a way I can get the touchflo 3d? Does anyone know if it will work on a Mogul?

As of right now it does not work on the mogul. People are working on it but unsure if it will actually happen.
There are a few programs that can be made to look similar to TouchFlo3D but, obviously, aren't. They are ThrottleLauncher (closet in my opinion), Wisbar Advance Desktop 2 (jdume made a skin that looks like a duplicate of of TouchFlo3D but it has problems on my device and no scrolling of the bottom bar) and XiaMultiTheme.
If you look in the devloper and hacker forum you can find links to most of these.

ThrottleLauncher is your best bet....... but (always a but with the Mogul, eh) there is the whole no hardware acceleration on the device means the interface is quite jumpy at times... nowhere near as smooth as it should be.
If we had working hardware 3D acceleration, we could potentially get Manila to run on the Mogul... but I don't know how that would work running an app made for 480x640 on a device that is 240x320.

Game - Whack-A-Monty [Beta]

Please check the requirements before you install!!
I'm new to developing on the Pocket PC platform and decided that I wanted to give it a shot. I figured that the best way to learn would be game, so here's my first attempt. This game is based off the New Super Mario Brothers mini-game called Whack-A-Monty (from the Nintendo DS). All of the graphics are from the original game; I have no intention of selling or making a profit from this game so I don't feel bad using their graphics. This is just a learning experience that I thought I'd share with everyone.
Requirements:
In this version (0.1), I have only included support for Pocket PC 320x240 or 240x240 resolutions. Also, I have only tested this on WM5 & WM6 emulators. This will only work on phones with a touchscreen.
This game was written in C# and thus requires .NET CF 2.0.
Again, this is my first attempt at game for Windows Mobile, so this is mostly a learning experience. Please don't crucify me for posting a game here, I'll be moving on to applications next. Let me know what you think!
I haven't tried the cab yet, but if I may I'd like to see the source code, specifically how you did the animation because I've been struggling with that.

This is awesome. Thanks heaps!
Yes this works well and reminds me of the game ratsplat - it needs sound to make it complete - keep up the good work!
VERY VERY cool game lol
Thank you!!!
Would there be any way to enable to input a name with a high score?

Not much animation in this game actually, but I do plan on releasing the code here. I need to do some tidying up first. I found the 'Programming with cheese' articles on MSDN very helpful for starting.
As for adding sound, .NET CF 2.0 has very limited support playing sounds. As far as I could find, there's no *easy* method for mixing sounds, or playing more than one sound at the same time. I need to do some more research on sound...

Hmm... I thought about this originally. I might bring it back.
Overall, I'm more interested in seeing if anyone has had problems installing the game (shortcuts work / in correct place), gameplay issues (hits aren't recorded, slow play, ...), stability issues, etc
Not working...
Hi there, the screenshots of your game look pretty cool. Unfortunately, I cannot play it, it's not working.
I own a Dell X51v with WM 6 (football edition A3, release RTM) but haven't installed Microsoft Net Framework (I was told that it is included in WM6). Whenever I start the game, only 25 percent of the game is visible in the upper left corner of my screen, the rest of the game's screen is somehow 'cut off' and my today screen or whatever is visible.
What a petty...
Do you guys know what to do about it? I guess I have already tried to install Netframework, but WM6 refuses to do so if I remember correctly.
Thanks for your help,
7
It installs and runs on my Universal (WM6), but unfortunately the VGA screen makes it unplayable (you can only see the top left quarter of the game area).
If you feel like expanding your learning experience, support for VGA devices would be very nice! And why not include a landscape mode too

Yes!!! Please!!! And I'll give to you 72 virgins without the need of immolate you (I think that 72 virgins is not enough but.. xD) Without jokes, I love this kind of games, and it looks great but I cant play it
All the best
Well I can't give you the virgins, but I would be damn grateful, I'm just getting into this stuff on my Universal, so other than the snes emulator, that I got working everything else is always suspect on the butttons or outdated. So please.
Im still playing the game, its working great!! Any updates?
This game is great and worked excellent on my MWG Atom Life until I flashed to medkid's 6.1 ROM, now when I install it messes with some of the fonts (e.g. on the screen alignment screen and on commanager using poorlyduck's vista theme). The game itself kinda works ok on 6.1 but the stylus isn't very accurate for some reason, often missing some while hitting others. My girlfriend was devastated when I told her she couldn't play whack-a-monty anymore! ;] thanks for a great game otherwise though!
hey, looks great, I'd like to play it on my VGA device too
it reminds me that great flash game tontie.
unfortunately I have yet to see a pda able to play flash games flawlessly
Hey, thanks for sharing! I like it!!
Greetings, Melle.
i tried to use it on my palm treo pro and a part of the screen is cut off...I dont know what the prob is.
very cool and a lot of fun! Also, a very old thread!!
great game!I ultimately know why the game interests you and lead you programming.
vga request
loved it on my kaiser, love it more on my touch pro
Good game for killing more boredom
Thankyou.
no updates?

TYTN and Malilla2D

hi,
i want mount a rom on my tytn that have manilla 2D...where i can find?
I've had a play around with the manilla hermes rom that has been posted, and the all in one cabs from the development thread. My impressions are that manilla 2d will run quite smoothly on the hermes, but at the moment doesn't seem very well integrated with the software its designed to use, ie audiomanager, htc album, opera, and google maps. It is very promising, but as I like to have a reliable, stable phone, I'm sticking with spb mobile shell for now.
I gotta say though that the HTC album software intergrated in is a GREAT piece of software. Its a lot like s2v but a polished version (being from HTC - eye candy).
I believe you can get the cabs to manually install manilla 2D piece by piece. I just stole the bits I liked...
Cheers...
For tytn i find this rom...is it ok? "[20753 is HERE!!!/Manilla2d ALSO][09/18](AlmostNak3d)(V6)"
"HTC_HERMES_S64_WM_6.1_TouchFlo2D_UC_V1 WWE" By starbase64 is a better option. It is fully fuctional and working, but it really stretchs the hardware on the hermes.
Lack of ram is a constant problem, as opening any reasonably large app, causes everything else to close.
It also uses a huge amount of storage space, and because it places so many files in the windows folder, Big Storage is out of the question.
Slightly more successful was installing update 15 from the manilla development thread. I used CRCs 13.0 Naked, and it all worked well, but ram shortages mean that for me at least, it isnt a keeper.
My next release for manilla2d will be very nice!! check it out in a day or so!

is their a way to have touchflo3D on the titan

You can have TouchFlo 2D which is a less memory intesive version. Near identical as far as I can tell.
Check out the ROM that I made in this post:

It looks great and is pretty smooth to boot ;c)

Not until someone makes the drivers for our device. Hard to say if that will happen or not.
how about now?
This was a topic of discussion in my office the other day. The smartphone industry is moving so fast that it's impossible to keep up (unless you have lots of money to spare).
When the manufacturers introduce a new device they also introduce more memory intensive software. Almost to MAXOUT all of the new power. The problem is, from a hardware/software engineering perspective, with devices such as the TP it seems that went a little too far. That is why you are hearing people complaining about their devices hanging. An example of a device that had a GUI designed to be 80% intensive of the hardware is the iPhone. This leaves room to grow until you get your next device.
This is the reason TouchFLO 3D/2D are slow and freeze up. They were designed to MAX out specific device specs that the Titan doesn't have and the TP barely passes the benchmark... When you buy a new PC do you load the most process intensive apps on it to the point where it is choking up? No. You leave room to grow. What people fail to realize is that these devices have been pretty much fully loaded from day 1. You can only REALLY run flawlessly some apps on the Titan. Anything too intense will result is freezing and choppy behaviour.

Raphael Slower than a Kaiser [Video Added]

UPDATE:
I was convinced that my new Touch Pro felt slower and laggier than my good'ol Kaiser, so I decided to test them toe-to-toe.
The Kaiser is running HyperDragon's OPAL ROM and the Touch Pro is running ROMeOS 1.22.
I somehow can't believe that the TP Is so much slower than the Kaiser, or is there a logical explanation that I have not heard about yet? - Is my new device defective?
HELP!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,
I just traded my good ol' Kaiser for a (German T-mobile) Raphael.
After spending a week getting tired of the white t-mobile branded software I decided to flash a custom rom.
After Trying DCS's v15 and later ROMeOS v1.13, I can't say I was happy with either of the performances of any of them.
Please, I understand the hard work Chefs put into their ROM's and I do not mean to bash on their work. This thread is mainly to figure out what I'm doing wrong, or maybe even if I have a defective device.
After trying out the DCS ROM, performance was pretty damn good... Though my phone kept tossing me errors (Mainly shell32.dll and other .dll and .exe errors). Along with random freezes and reboots.
The ROMeOS seems to be more stable, but it's missing alot of little things I liked about the DCS ROM.
But overall, the snappy speed of the original T-Mobile ROM is gone.
Scrolling the Menu Icons at the bottom was blazing fast, opening files, programs, folders, etc worked just as intended. Though the biggest loss in performance is clearly noticeable by using the album and doing the "circle" gesture to zoom in a picture. With both the DCS and the ROMeOS ROM's the zoom "Stutters in" instead of gently zooming into the picture (Hell, even my old Kaiser is WAY faster and smoother in comparison).
So... is this normal? - am I missing any important upgrades or cabs? Any tips or hints to speed it up a notch?
Thanks!
Weird indeed,i tryed dcs and rome Os,they are both stunning/amazing faster then the original one.
I always do a hard reset before and after flashing a new rom, maybey that will work?
I am coming to the TP from a US T-Mobile Wing. With me upgrading from 64Mb of RAM, this thing is smoking fast. I haven't had the luxury to enjoy some of the amazing devices available in the European/Asain markets, but compared to every US WM device, this thing is a hell of an upgrade.
I can't sympathize at all, simply due to where I've been with previous devices.
Good luck
I've had pretty much every HTC device that has came out since the Wizard, and I've always noticed a big increase in performance after flashing pretty much any custom ROM.
Not so on the Touch PRO.
Even my Kaiser is able to play fullscreen stutter-free video, and I can zoom in and out of pictures without 'lagging into a zoom'. So I'm wondering if my TP is defective.
@Tinuz, yes, I've tried hard-resets (lots of them, before and after flashing a new rom) with the same results.
Bump!

TF2D vs TF3d?
How can you compare phones using different programs.... that would be like benchmarking 2 PCs using different benchmarking programs and then trying to compare the results... youre comparing 2d vs 3d.... put TF3D on your Kaiser and then compare them, you might think differently.
yeah exactly, your running tf2d on kaiser and tf3d on diamond, put 2d in diamond and it will go like a rocket!
Plus no addons? why s2u2?
I think the difference is the VGA resolution. AFAIK the high resolution display and the much higher amount of pixels compared to TyTN2 requires a lot more CPU power. So I wouldn't doubt that TyTN2 could be faster than TP. But I imagine living without the VGA resolution anymore.
Yes, I agree with the 2D/3D thing. And again, I'm not trying to say "This is better, or this is faster" I am merely trying to figure out WHY.
Yes, I also believe the VGA resolution requires some more processing power...
But then again... zooming on a JPG picture?
It's not just the 2D/3D manila, it's the overall performance of the device that has me worried, playing videos, opening programs, running programs, etc. The Kaiser seems to beat the Raphael in pretty much everything.
If the main reason is the 3D manila... how come nobody has came up with the idea of making a 2D manila ROM for the TP? The visible differences are minimal and the performance increase is ... well ... a lot. =)
Thanks for your feedback!

I've been wondering this for some time. I think it might have to do with the whole VGA/QVGA stuff.
tf3d hasn't been completely ironed out yet...so putting it on kaiser still wouldn't represent true performance.
I have an ELFin and am in the process of getting a Raph, and I can tell you guys now that my ELFin with Onyx Ultimate 3.2.1 ROM is lightning fast in most respects, oh and WITH Manila 2D. Let's not forget that ELFin has a 200Mhz processor and no 3D or 2D acceleration. You guys taht are worried should de-activate M3D for a minute and watch your phone come to life. Oh and M2D seems to have been ported to VGA so you guys should give it a shot. Let's wait for a ROM as well though.
Though I do wish M2D had a tad bit more anim. Just adds to visual appeal...
I'm totally happy with my TP speed, maybe probably because Ive never seen a tytn2
Im just unhappy about GPS and signal str

It looks to me like you're comparing a Touch Pro's TF3D interface speed against a Kaisers M2D interface speed. Of course, there's a huge difference. Install M2D on your Touch Pro and disable your TF3D and you will see how it flies.

Will HTC Hero UI be able to work on the TOUCH HD?

Hey guys im just wondering if it was possible to port the new htc hero ui on to the HTC touch hd? The htc hero ui is amazing, kinda makes me regret buying the TOuch HD. . .
It won't for winmob devices will be availible manila 2.5...
no it can't because the hero is an android phone, and touch hd is a winmo phone
According to latest news, there will be definitely a version of that UI (named: HTC Sense) for both operating systems: Winmo AND Android.
Sources: Interview with Peter Chou, CEO of HTC (http://derstandard.at/1246541395037/HTC-Android-oder-Windows-Mobile-Das-ist-uns-egal - sorry, in german)

Correct. There have been multiple reports that HTC ill be bringing a more unified UI to WM and Android phones. Each OS will have a few differences, but i'm sure people will be able to recognize that it's an HTC phone just by looking at the screen.
There will be things missing from the winmo side on account of the difference of screen. Touch HD is resistive (uses a stylus and works on an x/y two point contact system), whereas the hero and the magic are both capacitive and are capable of reading multiple points of contact at the same time.
Basically speaking, a capacitive screen registers a contact through creating voltage at the point where your finger is touching. Your finger IS the contact. Resistive on the other hand is like two sheets of plastic being forced to touch each other, with a thin layer of space between them. I've yet to hear of a resistive screen that will allow multiple point contact. Usually, when you press two points at the same time, the device just reads it as on point in between the two actual pressure points.
Although multi touch will not be showing itself on the Touch HD or other resistive screen devices, the Touch HD has a semi working version of android in development, thanks to the talented people of this very site (xda). It's far from ready to replace winmo on the Touch HD, but it's at the point where it gives a good idea of how it would work.
As for the Sense UI on the Touch HD, very little would have to be done to the Touch HD to make it possible, as Sense UI is basically just a new Touch Flo, and therefor it's just a matter of taking a step forward for current winmo devices.
I hope that explanation helps.
Caid.

thanks for the lengthy explanation, Caid...but licht77 is right, HTC created the UI for both operating systems so a wider user base can use this awesome interface! :-D Yay! cant wait!
will HTC Sense UI work on Touch Pro 2 ?
Let it be very clear Windows Mobile users,
HTC said: they have the INTENTION to bring the two UIs (TouchFlo for Windows Mobile, Sense for Android) closer together AT SOME POINT.
So TouchFlo will eventually will look a bit more like Sense, and maybe Sense will borrow more TouchFlo looks... but don't expect it any time soon.
Manilla3D 2.5 that is spotted just recently (version for some new high-end Windows Mobile device ) still very much looks like TouchFlo. It has a bit more customization I believe, but the freedom of the Widgets in Sense is still something for Android for the coming months I think.
