Wizard doesn't see sd card - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Accessories

Hi,
Today I bought a new Mini Sd Card for my htc Wizard. But when I put it into my ppc, file explorer doesn't recognize it. Formatting to Fat or Fat32 won't help.
I tried to format it with a photo camera, but no results.
When i put it into the phone, the backlight lights up..
It's not a SDHC card..
Any help is appreciated..
Rindert

Maybe problem with the Card, as its still new get it replaced

Thx for the reply,
But it works perfectly in other devices.

Then you must see if other cards work in your Device if they dont then there is a problem in your Wizard. Check and tell me then i'll tell you what else you can do to run it.

I've put a 256mb card in it, and it shows up in file explorer. So it works..

It has a 2gb capacity, non hc.
I thought thr wizard supported 2 gb sd cards, right?

I have the same trouble, my existing Kingston 2GB card works just fine, I bought two more but they are not recognised by the wizard but my old one still is. The only way I could get them to be seen by the wizard is by using a Low Level Format tool from HDDGuru and having formated it with that popped the card in the wizard which asks to format it. This takes a few seconds and the card is recognised however if I take it out and put it back in again it can't be recognised... my PC can see them in its card reader...
So I figured the Wizard is very particular about how the card is set up with regards to cluster size etc. Just haven't got around to analyzing the card that works to find out the correct set up.
By the way it also might be that I am using a custom ROM and when it formats the card its not doing everything it should

Yes your right it supports 2GB and 2GB card shuld work maybe you shuld still try it getting replaced by a same model or a card of someother company. TC

@ funkycowie
That tool didn't work for me...
@ xda_haseeb
I have a 265mb mini sd card, and it works perfectly in my wizard.
Brand of the 256mb: SanDisk
Brand of the 2gb: Kingston minisd adapter

Maybe Kingston isnt supportedtry getting it replaced with a 2GB Sandisk MiniSD Adapter and then see wht happens. TC

Interesting, my card that works is a Micro SD in a Kingston MiniSD adapter that is 2GB and it works... the other two I bought are micro sd as well but came with SD only adapters and the text on the card although the same has a different serial number which could indicate that they are set up differently to the one that does work.

I have a microsd in a minisd adapter too, but it doesn't work.
I have 2 mini sd adapters, but none of them works.

I also have a micro sd card in a mini sd adapter. The phone doesn't read it at all. The card is a 1 gb kensington micro sd in a san disk adapter. The card was only 4 bucks, so I'm not to disappointed but I wish it would work.

I guess there maybe a compatibility issue b/w two different accesories i.e your using SanDisk adpter and Kingston card try both of a same company i.e both Kingston or both SanDisk. TC

I had a 2 gig no-name brand card that started throwing errors and then stopped being detected in the Wizard. For a week or so I could detect it in the card reader on my PC but not in the phone. Finally it stopped working altogether. I have seen it before. There is circuitry in the card that fails and causes this problem. The card reader I was using was simply not as selective as the Wizard and eventually the Mini-SD failed there too.
Once it failed completely there was simply no bringing it back. Since then I have paid the extra for SanDisk cards (about a dozen) and have had 1 failure that the store happily replaced. In my line of work I learned a long time ago that these cards do fail even under the best of conditions sometimes. I always recommend to anyone with card problems to simply replace a card that throws errors as soon as possible with a card recommended by the manufacturer.

4 Gb secure digital??

hi guys!
Does anybody know if the 4gb sd works with the wallaby??
I've heard about someone who successfully uses the 2 gb sd.....
But somewhere else they say that the limit is 1gb...
since the price of the 4gb sd is so low...
http://cgi.ebay.it/150X-4GB-ADATA-S...temZ7605863020QQcategoryZ122613QQcmdZViewItem
and what if, the sd doesn't work with xda?xda will see it as a 1gb card, or will not recognize it at all??
thank you in advance
I just got a Transcent 4GB SD Card. It works fine in the Wallaby. Wallaby recognizes it as 4GB, just perfect. Windows Media Player also recoqnizes it well. Now we have iPod nano 4GB inside our Wallaby.
nice! i bought the 2gb Adata sd and it works fine too....maybe i will buy the 4 gb...or maybe i'll wait i while:i've heard rumors about the development of a 8gb sd!!!
i have no wallaby but universal and purchased the adata 4gb from fastmemoryman. unfortunately after two weeks of using it got damaged while it was inserted in my universal and avantgo was updating the news channels. a write error message appeared and since this moment i could no longer read the card, no reformatting, nothing. it is no longer recognized by any sd-devices like card reader, pda, digital camera. i have tried several devices, no success. so i contacted fastmemoryman and he offered me to replace the card as it has lifetime warranty. this is what i am going to do tomorrow.
my post should not be any kind of claiming against fastmemoryman or adata sd-cards as i have purchased an adata 2gb from fastmemoryman about 1,5 years ago and this card is in use day-by-day with no problems.
maybe 4gb cards are more sensitive but this is just an idea as only one bad sd-card in my whole life of using sd-cards is no good proof for such a statement
regards
peter
Recently I found out that Wallaby does not display every file written to the 4GB SD Card. Those files were written to the 4GB SD Card from a Windows XP Machine. And when accessed from the Wallaby, in the File Explorer, many of those files did not show up.
Same thing from Media Player, in the Local Content, a large portion of the MP3 files did not show up.
However, Wallaby does show correct size of the SD Card in the Settings, Memory, Storage Card.
So, please be aware of this. My 4GB SD Card is the Transcent one.
This problem does not exist when using the same SD Card in a Universal.
humm disappeared files..
it happens sometimes also with my 128 kingston sd,,don't know if it's really an sd problem..
anyway i solved the problem doing a soft reset...strange anyway....

16 gb sd card

is it ok to buy 16 gb sd card for my mini not pro

it is ok, i have an x10mini too, and i'm using a 16gb sdcard in it, and it's working very fine and fast, so just go buy it and enjoy
Here another 16GB SD card user.
For me its perfect, I have no feeling that it slow down or something
i got a new 16GB SDHC card couple of weeks ago, but since then my phone sometimes restarted itself, and some apps is running very bad, particularly Waze (it's a GPS programm). I tried to format the card with the PC and phone also, but still same results. I had a 2GB card, and had no any problem it all...
Any ideas what may be the problem?
Thank you in advance

try formatting the block size to 32KB
An sd card does not need to be formated only hdd do... What couldve hapend is that your boot sector got screwed up. Try putting your sd card in an card reader and connect it to the pc. On windows 7 go to start type cmd and hit enter. Then type: chkdsk /X /F /A:, where A: is your card reader. Hit enter and wait. I revived a couple SD Card by this method. Without losing any data!
***Ignore this***
Edited for clarity.
I have a Class4 16 gb card. Worked well so far.
Guys - Can we lose the personal criticism here - this thread is bang on the money with a problem I'm really struggling with and I'd hate for the thread just to become a shouting match.
My daughters x10 Mini Pro (running latest paul-xxx version of CM7) is just refusing to play nicely with a Sandisk 8Gig Class 4 SDHC which has prviously worked perfectly in a Samsung Genio.
On the 8 Gig card music jumps between tracks as you are listening , apps moved to SD Card refuse to run, photos save OK and will open once in Gallery but then the jpgs get corrupted and cannot be reopened on the phone or when transfered to a PC.... and to crown it all I get random reboots/freezes.
If I drop back to an old Kingston 2 Gig Micro-SD (ie non-SDHC) everything on the phone works fine and yet when I format the 8Gig card on my PC, there are never any errors and I can then copy files on and off the card (via the card reader in the PC) multiple times with no issues.
Is this just a somewhat more extreme example of other peoples experiences or would you suspect my micro SD is b*ggered?
I suspect that this "quality" Sony phone is just so sensitive to SDHC cards that I need to get one which others can confirm works reliably and stick to it.
For now my daughter is content to run with the 2 Gig card and have a stable, working phone but obviously she'd like to carry more than a dozen Albums and Apps at any time.
Any advice?

SGS3 and 128 GB SD card?

I have a microUSB to microSD / SD card converter that I just purchased for like $10. I tested a 64GB microSD card in it and it work just fine as USB storage. Now I'm wondering if a 128GB SD card would work.
Has anybody tried a 128 SD card as a USB storage device in a SGS3? Is the phone recognizing this storage dependent upon the external SD card converter / reader or the phone itself? I'd try myseld but I don't want to spend $150 only to find out that it doesn't work.

I think it will work....You mean a normal 128gb right?...It should work..No one thought a 64gb microXC would work on GB phones.and it did.
I believe the Galaxy S3 meets the hardware requirements for SDXC cards, so I would think it would work, but no guarantees.
I am curious to know, as I have a 32GB card now, so 128GB in a year or so will likely be my upgrade choice, if it works.
Remember that I'm talking about a 128 GB SD (NOT microSD) card used through a micro-USB to SD converter plugged in through the bottom of the phone. I'm NOT talking about a 128GB microSD through the back card slot, which doesn't yet exist.
I'm just thhinking this might be dependant upon the converter's ability to read a 128GB sd card, not so much the phone's, but I'm not sure.

Ah I see.
I'm not sure, then.
I guess no one has tried this yet, nor knows if reading a 128 GB SD card is dependant on the converter itself or the phone's USB mas storage recognition.
Guess it's gonna be a #$150 experiment then,

I didn't even know you could do that! So I'm guessing you are plugging the card reader in to the bottom charging port and are then able to copy files to and from it? That's the idea right? I mean it would be kind of silly to walk around with a card reader dangling from the bottom of the phone

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006MJZOMW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A24Y22QERZZ9SS
...which is WAY cool. Like I said, a 64GB microSD card works fine, both diretly in the microSD slot on the adapter or in an SD card adapter plugged into the SD card slot. I have not tried an SD card over 32GB in the SD slot directly, because I don't have one.

Sandisk "Ultra" 64gb SDXC (micro SD) card, Class 10, UHS-1

FYI... Sandisk is now selling an "Ultra" 64gb SDXC (micro SD) card that is rated Class 10 and is UHS 1. The "Ultra" tag refers to their class of cards that have 30MB/second read speed (unk. what the write speed is). Sandisk also has an "Extreme Pro" class of cards that have 95MB/second read speed, but the largest "Extreme Pro" in micro SDXC is currently 16gb. If you shop hard, you can find the 64gb "Ultra" SDXC card for less than $60 currently.
It's been previously reported that Razr supports SDXC cards, including 64gb (see this thread).
For anyone who might buy one, a word of caution. Put it in your Razr and format it there first before trying to use it on your PC. I'm not sure whether I received a defective card, or I somehow ruined my card by trying to format it to FAT32 on a Windows machine (using Paragon Partition Manager). I spent hours screwing with it before giving up and returning it to the seller.
I have the same 32gb version in my razr right now and it runs great. I assume the 64gb one wouldn't be any different.
Got mine for $23 on Amazon. Couldn't pass it up for that price.

It depends...
Is your USB adapter USB 2.0?
I typically use the SD Card slot with the adapter provided with the micro SD card.
USB for transfer unless you have a good adapter can be slower.
I use one 32gb class 10, works fine.

Have you tried a HD 1080p recording on your 32gb class 10 card ? , if yes - did you find any difference when you tried the same recording on a class 4 ( assuming 30 fps and standard cache)?
Got my one for a few weeks, phone has never been so slow.
Not faulty (tested the card multiple times) - anyone else having issues? I feel like I have a Galaxy S1. Just weird behaviour - Swype takes forever for k/b to appear, winamp takes forever for thumbnails for albums to appear - just apalling performance from my phone.

I couldn't mount it or format it. My RAZR kept saying it was damaged. So, I formatted it in my PC first and all is well.
If you're under Windows XP, you'll need to have a program to do this. I used EaseUS Partition Master which you can get for free at http://download.cnet.com/EaseUS-Partition-Master-Home-Edition/3000-2248_4-10863346.html.
So far, the card works great and it's nice to have more room for DLC and songs.
I own this card.
It was a pain in the ass to format, but once I formatted it a few times, it worked great.

You can simply put it in the phone. No need to do anything beforehand. If it requires you to format, the phone will tell you to do so.
I've given up completely on trying to get this to work in my phone. The phone will recognize it as 64GB, but will freeze up on numerous occasions even if I'm not accessing it. Does no one else have the freezing issue? Running Flick 5.0 Tornado
So what's the concensus on this "extreme" cards' performance while in the phone? Are backups faster? Transferring files to/from a dekstop while connected via USB faster?

Looking for camera SD card reader for Note 12.2

So far I have not been able to find a card reader for our Galaxy Note 12.2. I want to read this game camera card in the field.
Understand the desire for a more elegant solution but an OTG cable will allow use of any standard USB card reader.
Something like this http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters...2553860&sr=1-1&keywords=cable+matters+3.0+otg
I've seen some readers that support OTG but they look just as bulky as using a cable with a simple card reader and I'm not the type to want am all in one solution.
Would be interested to hear from others what they like to use.

If the camera uses SD card then get a microsd with a sd card adapter for the camera. You can then just pop the microsd card in your Note 12.2.
Or, if you already have a card in the internal slot, perhaps consider one of these. I've been very pleased with mine.
Tried Muzzy's cable but it didn't accept my card reader. Said looking for driver. Tried micro sd in camera but camera would not read it. Seems like only normal SD card works in this camera.

It's a SanDisk
I have rechecked the camera and it WILL take micro sd cards and I have tested it today and that feature is working. So I can use the micro SD card and insert into the Note 12.2 for viewing. That will be one solution but I would like to be able to use other size cards in a reader that can be hooked up to the Note 12.2.
I suspect that the fact that it is a multi-reader is the issue. With readers such as the one you have, when plugged into a Windows PC a handful of drive letters pop up because of the different types of cards that are supported. I'm not certain but I suspect that if it were a single card type reader you'd likely be able to use it. Reason I say that is because I use a single type reader without issues.
I dont have a pic of the one I use (I think I left it in my camera bag) but it basically looks like a flash drive and only takes standard SD cards so the tablet doesn't get confused.
Just ordered a couple of these since I keep misplacing my readers. I'll post results when I get the order in next week.
I'll test my card reader tomorrow with my USB OTG adapter, see if that works. It's a multi reader.
MicroSD in an adapter in your camera is fine on a general digital camera, but a no-go for a DSLR.
Edit: Apparently, my cardreader has gone MIA. Wonderful -.-
Muzzy, that Transcends reader that you recommended arrived today and it worked. Much thanks.
LOL! Your order beat mine!
Such is life on a rock in the middle of the pacific. . .
What app are you using to view the card?
I have a SanDisk reader connected via an otg cable (micro usb only) and either es file explorer or my note doesn't like it. Trying to work out which.
I think I used ES file explorer but I am finding that the Transcend has problems reading some external cards. I have 3 game cameras in the woods here and they use different cards. Forgot which one doesn't work with Transcend but I will make a note of it the next time I check the cameras at the end of the month.
So, nearly half a year later, my Cardreader has finally turned up from the infinite depths of my wardrobe closet. :silly:
It's a Hama All-In-One USB2 that cost a whole 10 quid. Works perfectly. https://www.hama.com/00094124/hama-basic-usb-20-multi-card-reader-sd-microsd-cf-ms-xd-black
To follow up on my problem with the Transcend not reading some SD cards . . . . . .It was a Lexar SD HC 4 GB card that it would not read. I reformatted it in my PC to exfat and it is now readable and works good. I do not know the real reason it could not be read before when it was formatted fat. No problems with SanDisk or PNY cards here. Both formatted FAT.

No, it was FAT before. However, this particular SD card came with the game camera so maybe it had some proprietary file on it that Android didn't like.
