Rom Update ??? - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo ROM Development

Well I finally have my new device and it looks like i might have a little time this weekend to make an update and fix some minor bugs in my rom. please post suggestions here. All suggestions need to be in my friday midnight EST. thanks

How about making these changes to your last ROM?
- 16mb page pool to see if it goes a little faster.
- Do not auto download the quick gps data during the setting phase, since the device does not have time and data connection yet at that phase.
- update the large menu text cab so that it works. I had to look for the cab elsewhere last time.'
- Focus on speed.
- Keep it ultra vanilla. This is your number one selling point for me. I don't want all third party application to be chosen by myself and not seeing duplicated application/old versions/unused application.
- Make sure it is spl1.2. Do not want to lose memory for useless applications.
- If you intent to use newer built (Are you thinking of Touch Pro?), make sure it still supports Gsen application, and has random access for contact application. I personally love these two features.
- Make sure it has no htc touchflo or Ftouchflo. Have Ftouchflosl trial version if you wish. Else leave it for user to decide.
- Again, leaveb out realVGA. Some of us don't use it anymore.
- Continue to leave out HTC Home, and have just one theme. HTC Home They are all add ons.
- An important bug to fix is its inabikity to delete POP3 mails. Currently I can only delete non-POP3 mail, but for my pop3 mail, I'm forced to sign into the web-mail to delete them to prevent mail-box overflow. This is a pain.
Frankly, I'm still so happy with your last ROM, although I feel the speed could be further improved. So if there is only one change, let there be just speed improvement.
Thanks irus. I look forward to your fantastic ROM.

I'm now using Michy's rom whose main merits are speed and stability, but I like your Gsen function very much. I hope you can integrate the above-mentioned features in your new rom.

I would suggest no changing from your latest rom which I think is perfect, only bugfixes.
Changing could be for a newer release while I think your last one deserves just a trimming to be a reference rom. (I can't download full messages from the mail program???)

I would say fix the known bugs, increase speed if possible. After releasing that version, you can spend sometime looking at other possibilities (lite version, other builds or base, new features, etc...).
The lite / vanilla builds never actually worked in the long run for me because it always seemed something was missing which caused other applications not to work properly. They always seemed fast and potentially stable for a few weeks. After installing my apps and heavy usage, it always seemed to have gone down hill. Nonetheless, a lot PPL here love them.
It is also very important that auto rotate, gsen, and other features continue to work because I believe a lot of PPL stuck with this base because that stuff work well with on this ROM.

I never tried your rom mainly because I had the impression it was missing MMS. I know it is fairly easy to install myself, but I hadn't time to look for a proper version.
If your rom contains MMS, then forget about this post

Yes! also mms. I would consider the missing of it nearly a bug to be fixed as it is a standard feature of the athena missing... It is true that most of us don't use mms, but just in case...

ok these are all good suggestions, i will keep them in mind

I currently use your FULL ROM/3.5 and find it to be excellent. I hope you will NOT include any real VGA additions. Every one of them I have tried so far causes display problems with my "must use" apps.
Thanks for all your hard work.

I've tested All Athena ROM available.
I am using now the Sogarth base, isn't the fastest, isn't the most complete, but it is stable, has gsensor, big htc home, audio player doesn't stop working in suspend mode, index bar in contacts, battery life is great WITH BT enabled and some diamond enhancements.
The probem is ... it has to be tweaked
.net35 AND net2.0 to have compatibility with older and newest applications (modaco netcf config), some registry tweaks to improve the speed , michy's sound enhancement are much better, athena sensor service has to be stopped, IMHO are needed:
1) a newest remote desktop,
2) wifirouter (ori ICS control) ,
3) schaps advanced config ,
4) moblue,
5) total commander,
6) irus fsplayer,
7) pocketrar,
8) omnia d3d drivers,
9) Gsen,
10) wkTask (HTC Xbutton removed),
11) cyberon voice dial
12) I need mms too
I don't need realvga, the applications I like could use VGA resolution without realvga! Last, but not least, having and athena ROM CLOSER to diamond ROM should be easy to have compatibility with diamond and raphael applications (the most "developed" HTC model)
I strongly suggest a newest Sogarth, not "Extreme" but improved one (SPL 3.5). and "Extreme Sogarth" lite SPL 1.2 and 3.5 tweaked for maximum speed

I have forgotten if you use the extrom.
If you don't , could you ask michyprima for his ap to access this .
It is called "Addins"

there's a new base rom popped up in the general forum..
Scratch that I can't find it now..

I think that app is good but only if you have the loop problem as all my roms are uc compliant, which is the same thing just launches from the sd card not ext rom.

my 2cents: irus in your knew rom maybe you can focus on a new build and speed speed speed.

I haven't used the uc app.
does it allow you to choose what you install , or does it install everything in the list?

it installs everything in the sdconfig.txt file but if you don't want something just delete that line of text. when i release my next version i will put a template of sdconfig.txt but this will only work for people without the loop problem.

Suggessions
Hi Irus,

Requests for Michy's next ROM graphics

====
EDIT: As Michy has asked for graphics requests, he apparently already has something in mind for his 5.2 / 6.0. Yea! So be sure to post with any requests as to what you want the next ROM to look like.
====
You have to hand it to Michy. 4.1 and 5.1 are both fast, smooth, and (almost completely) trouble-free ROMs with tons of useful programs. And for both SPLs!
To tell the truth, until I flashed 4.1, I had regretted HardSPLing my device. Most of the ROMs I tried up until then were troublesome and just as slow as my stock WM6.0.
So in a way, this post is thanks to Michy. Gran bel lavoro Michy!
In another way, it is a request for something new. I know I am not the only one on this forum that gets nervous if he hasn't flashed a new ROM this month... I'm feeling the itch! I need my fix!
Anyway, thought it might be interesting to see what kind of ROM people wanted. Give your vote and comments please.
hi,
please just add your graphic-style request, so i can have an idea for a 5.2/6.0.
bye
Michael,
Good to see you are considering a new rom. In truth your 5.1 seems flawless and it's hard to imagine how much better you can make it. Thanks for your great work.
One suggestion I would give to make your next ROM easier to understand is: if you are going to include lots of apps like you usually do, it might be a good idea to put them in folders in the start menu according to their usage.
A Multimedia folder could contain YouTube Player, TCPMP, MP3Trimmer, Camera, Audio Manager, and Album links.
VoipCall, Slick, Messenger, Fring, Flash SMS, Call Firewall and others could be grouped in a Communications folder.
And some things like FTouchFlo, GSen CFG, GSen, GSenToggle, IContactConfig, PDM, PocketScreen, PIM Backup, PsShutXP, QuickGPS, RegEditor, SIM Manager, SynchroTime etc, etc, could easily be put in the Tools folder you usually include.
By doing this, you allow the person using the ROM to have easier access to the programs that they install. Because people are more likely to frequently use the programs that they install, rather than ones that come pre-installed.
Another suggestion is about the applications you include with your ROMs. I think I understand your logic in including lots of apps: the space is there in the ROM, so you might as well use it as long as the apps don't degrade performance. That's strong logic, and I agree with it. My suggestion is to only include apps that have reached a developmental dead-end; i.e. apps that are stable, and are no longer currently being developed. For example TCPMP, VNCViewer, and DotFred's Task Manager aren't updated very frequently - they make perfect additions to your ROM. Other apps, like YouTube, Manila 2D/3D, S2U2, ThrottleLauncher etc, are still in active development and can/should be updated from time to time. It is possible to update and install over the apps in the ROM, but then you have just wasted that space in the ROM.
As far as graphics are concerned, I am of two minds.
1) I have always really liked the touch/kaiser grey-on-white-with-blue-highlights. Very professional.
2) However, recently I have flashed my Hermes with PDACorner's Pro V.25 and I really appreciate the usefulness of the colors he uses in his status bar. Colors like that would really be useful against the flat black bars of the DiamondVGA.tsk you always include... They take a little getting used to, but make it really easy to know what is going on with your phone with simply a glance.
And this is a light and robust little Comm Manager that looks great with the skin in post eight.
And as always, thanks for your consideration. I wish I had the time, patience and talent to build such ROMs.
Not much more to add from my side, thanks larsuck!
- Make it as fast as possible without losing 5.1 stability
- Ahm...make both startup gifs like the ones from AP4.0, just with your name (I know, plagiate, but it looks great)
- Real-VGA, all programs/thumbnails should work and look according to chosen dpi, especially with 128dpi (seems to be the best choice)
- Remove time&date permanently from taskbar, so that all buttons can be seen and clicked without problems
- In short: please make it look like the original x7510 screen
Program wishes: maybe some program for real contacts import/export with edit-function on PC, I'm currently using xmlcontactsbackup but perhaps there are better choices.
Many thanks
just to renew my ROMs, i'm going to make a 5.1 Last Build Edition, with the last build i found on xda (20921). If this build will work well.......you'll have a new rom to falsh
There we go again weare just a bunch of rom addicts, lol, so far I been playing wit 5.1 is nice and respond qick only problems found so far is the bluetooth stack, (if the new build has something as AP4 Ill be in heaven) and Slic if I try to use it will give a BSD with a message saying fatal system exception or something, that was funny because it was the first time I have seen a BSD in WM, no a biggie for my I just do not use the app .
The programs included are useful but I rather get rid of duplicates e.g if you think icontact is better than stock contact manager get rid of the stock one( Im not complaining on that ,you have done a good job there so far).
the graphics just keep them consistent across the rom e.g not a black today a green communications and a white phone screen.
And if touchflow 3D was included working reliably that would be a plus.
Larsuck mention below to add mature apps only to the rom, I do not agree, why, because we will flash to newer roms during the development of the app so if a rom has the latest opera and a newer one appear we will have a newer rom sooner with the newer opera or whatever anyway, and because when a app reach its end of development time usually means that there are newer apps better and so its no point to keep developing the oldest ones ( not always the case) so as long the apps in the rom are solid stable just include what you think is useful.
Great job Michi and many thanks
I ask for two things...but only one is possible me thinks.
If you could get hootgaming working on your next rom, now that would be something. Something tells me it won't be possible as getting hold of the client .cab for winmob seems rather difficult.
Back in reality...I tend to use Claunch on my today screen as it works well but the only buttons that are any good tend to be based on the Iphone. Any app like this with an original button interface would be fantastic.
Keep up the good work.

WM 6.1 Stock (look-a-like) ROM for NEW GENE (P3400 and P3400i with S/N HT8xxx)

Hi Friends,
First of all, let me tell you that this is NOT MY ROM. I've found it on the 4PDA forum so i am sharing it with you guys.
IMPORTANT INFO : THIS ROM IS FOR NEW P3400 and P3400i with S/N HT8xxx. I DONT KNOW IT WORKS ON OLDER P3400 OR NOT. NOR I HAVE EXTENSIVELY TESTED IT ON MANY DEVICES. I AM RUNNING IT ON A P3400i with ONBL 1.17.000 and SPL 1.07.Oref.
The Good:
1. This is a Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM with all default features of Windows Mobile 6.1 including the new welcome center etc along with a few HTC customizations.
2. You have about 43 MB of free User Memory after installing this ROM and about 19-20 MB of free RAM.
3. Device runs very fast when compared to the Stock WM 6 ROM.
4. Quiet fast boot up time.
5. The ROM doesn't have any customizations from the creator, ie. It has default boot screen, default About screen etc.
6. No EDGE related problems and No Control Panel icons missing. (This is a problem with lomlom's fusion 9.0 ROM)
The Bad :
1. I doesn't include HTC HOME, although this may not be quoted as a problem. HTC Home hogs quiet a lot of memory than the individual Messaging, Date, Calander and Task plugins.
2. Task manager incuded in the ROM is quiet old one.
3. As with most WM 6.1 ROMs, Windows Live is not working.
Download it from HERE if you have a 4PDA.com account (This is the original location of ROM where i found it: http://4pda.ru/forum/dl/post/132256/ruu_signed.rar
Else download it from here (I uploaded it on 4Shared for people who dont have a 4PDA account) : http://www.4shared.com/file/76614292/60fceda7/WM61_Stock.html
Sorry for not posting any screenshots but believe me, there is nothing special to post as screenshot. Its a very plain, WM 6.1 ROM.
In my opinion, if this ROM had got Windows Live Working, i can definetly quote it as the most wonderful and simplest Windows Mobile 6 ROM for P3400 and P3400i. But sadly enough, Windows live isn't working even after appying fixes and updates. So i guess i'll have to live with the browser version of hotmail.
For users who need MSN messenger functionality can try out Fring, search for it on google. Its a free, multi protocol messenger supporting Yahoo!, GTalk, MSN, AOL and others.
Also for task management features, I would recommend using HomeScreenPlusPlus plugin. Download it for free from this forum.
Enjoy!
UPDATE: I would also recommend reading Post #6 for knowing about my experiance about the ROM after customising it fully.
Thanks a lot for posting the same, here.
Just a couple of doubts, may be silly.
You have stated the following:
2. You have about 43 MB of free User Memory after installing this ROM and about 19-20 MB of free ROM
I guess, it is 19-20 MB free RAM, right?
Secondly, does this ROM contain Touch FLO, pre-installed?...
And finally, how is the file/directory browsing compared to lomlom's ROM?

Yeh, the word is RAM. I've corrected that in my post.
File browsing os working perfectly. i have installed quiet many apps and still the windows folder is opening within 3-5 seconds.
No it does not have TouchFlo installed, it even doesn't have HTC home. Thats why there is so much free space. Its a very plain WM 6.1 ROM with all the features of WM 6.1 but very few customizations.
In fact, to tell you the truth, i dont miss Touch FLO coz it was a memory hogger. And now since it doesn't have HTC home built-in, i have installed HTCHome_1025_721_ALL.cab which is the 6 tab version of the HTC home. The 6th tab contains the music controller which can be used to play music using audio manager right from the HTC home screen.
The only problem this ROM has got is Windows Live! Thats it! I have searched a lot for a fix but haven't found any working one yet.
@ANKIT360 : Buddy as far as i have found out, the problem with Windows Live is connected to two things :
1. The original Windows Live that came in this ROM has some registry keys missing. For example, under HKLM\Services\Windows Live\Platform, the Transport key is missing.
2. There must be some problem with certificates etc that are causing Windows Live to not being able to communicate using SSL(Secure Socket Layer). WIndows Live uses SSL for communication purposes.
Maybe this information help somebody in finding a fix.
Thanks For sharing Man I am Going to try it tonight
Thanks a lot & keep Going
@swapnil_0081: My Pleasure man.
My Experiance with the ROM till now
UPDATE: Did about 25 different experiments with around 11 cabs, changing connections settings and installing different certificates. No avail, Windows Live and Messenger stuck at startup. Now i am not doing any more tries, even deleted the shortcuts to Live and Messenger from Start Menu.
Software i installed:
1. 6 Tab HTC Home plugin and HomeScreen Plus Plus for Today Plugins. HomeScreen Plus Plus also doubles as an always available task switcher and task manager. I needed this functionality very much as the HTC Taskmanager 2.0 is not included and task management is not possible from home screen without the HomeScreenPlusPlus plugin.
2. Mundu IM for muti protocol messaging, its paid but its great. It can connect to all the chat services and can do things that Fring cannot do, for example, adding new messenger friends.
3. WM5Storage for Mass Storage Mode
4. Resco File Explorer and GFinder+ for managing files.
5. TCPMP, YouTube, Nitrogen (Great Audio Player!), Flash Player 7, Flash Lite 2.1 and Real Player for Multimedia.
6. Opera 8.60 and Opera Mini 4.2 (Mini has great browsing speed with full website browsing, normal Opera is great for other stuff)
7. Yahoo Go! and Google Maps for maps and positioning.
7. iContact BERT Edition for finger scrolling Contacts, PCMImageViewer for Touch friendly Image Viewer and PCM Keyboard .14 for touch friendly keyboard.
8. Advance Config, FDCSoft TaskMgr 3.1, ClearTemp, PIMBackup, psShutXP, SoftKey (for changing functions of both softkeys on Today screen) and SKTools for system tweaking.
9. FDCSoft StartMenu for desktop Windows like cascading menu. Requires very less resources and normal start menu remains accessible as well. PointUI Home as an alternate shell.
10. Misc Software including FlashSMS (for sending SMS which show up directly on screen instead of going into inbox), CHMReader (for reading e-books in CHM format), Picsel Browser (A great E-book and document Reader), PocketRAR 3.8, SQL Server CE 3.5 with Query Analyzer (Databases can be created directly on device), VSPainter Lite (MS Painbrush like APP), Wordnet CE (Pocket Dictionary with a huge word database of 66 MB), Gerald Caller Location (It shows the network name and area name of person that is calling or being called, for India only) and OBEXinfo (changes the location to recieve files via bluetooth to SD Card.

With such a comprehensive list of software installed, i have about 28 MB User space free, and 16-18 MB of RAM free after 10 minutes of system startup with HTC Home, Homescreen plus plus, Tasks and Appointment plugins running. And with default caching, FileSystem performance is good, Windows folder opening within 5-7 seconds of taping
Isn't is amazing guys! This ROM is quiet good, much better than others.
So far only 3 problem i have identified :
1. Windows Live (The hotmail part, messenger part is solved with Mundu IM) not working.
2. In the Encryption option in System Tab of Settings, the checkbox remains always checked although files are not being encypted (In other words, using encryption is not possible, but people dont use it anyways, mostly).
3. An Old version of task manager with no Today screen task management support is given. This could be solved by using th task manager or HomeScreen plus plus which is better due to the fact that it can be accessed anytime to switch between applications
Click to collapse
In short, i will recommend this ROM to everyone who wants to use WM 6.1 with faster device response. A little bit of tweaking, some software and a 2-4 GB of good quality memory card will make your gene as closely feature rich as other costly phones.
PHEW! Long Post! Sorry guys if you get bored from this post. But i wanted to share my experiance in detail with everyone.

First of all, thanks a lot for taking time for hosting as well as testing and giving such a long feedback. Really appreciate... You have been simply superb in this forum.
But, I am still a bit reluctant to flash this ROM over Fusion, just because of that RAM avaialbility. In Fusion, I have around 23 to 24 MB RAM free, even after running TouchFlo, Wisbar advance etc., as well as after installing a huge amount of softwares (some of them in storage itself), I still have around 16 MB free in ROM. So, I am just perplexed, as why should I flash this one.
The only advantage, I can make out in this rom, is fast "windows" directory browsing as well as booting. But, I feel these are the items which we don't do each now and then. Even, I am pretty satisfied about the responsiveness of Fusion rom, such as switching applications etc. Moreover, responsiveness of TouchFlo has been simply great, and never felt it as a memory hogger, as its RAM consumption has been consistent and may be because of the 28 MB free RAM, provided by Fusion on start-up.
I have also attached a screenshort here, in which you can see that around 20.21 MB RAM is free, even when the ROM is running Touch Flo, Wisbar Advance, Hi-Calc, Resco Explorer, Excel (with a document loaded) and SPB screenshort applications. There may be even other applications such as SPB Keyboard in the background. Isn't it cool? Moreover, swiching applications have been instantaneous too. When I click on the icon of a running application on the Wisbar, the app is displayed immediately, within a second.
Again, I am not at all trying to downplay the efforts put by you to upload this ROM on a mirror and give us not only the access but also the feedbacks and support. Just wanted to put the points here. May be, you will come up with valid arguments and make me flash this one. Just because you must be knowing much more about these stuffs than me, who is almost a newb.
Best Regards...
Hi Dheeraj!
Buddy, if the lomlom's ROM is working for that much great for you, you have no reason to flash this. In my case, it was not. I got only 16-19 MB free without running any app whatsoever, in the case of lomlom's. Plus there were icons missing in Settings tab, and small inconsistensies here and there. Moreover since i tinker around with my phone a lot currently, accessing the \Windows folder is a routine task for me, and with lomlom's ROM i was having a lot of problem with that. Talking about Manilla 2D, ya it looks fancy but after a week of use, i found that its not that usable with me, personally. For me the charm of it was over.
And apart from all this, I always wanted a ROM that works like stock WM 6 ROM of HTC, in short, gives the "Original" look to my phone but still provides me with all the features of WM 6.1. I dont know why but i dont like it when the original OS is crippled in anyway. In this ROM, nothing is missing from the original WM 6.1 installation as described on the feature comparison page for Windows Mobile on Microsoft website.
So in short, its a matter of personal tastes. Our needs are a bit different and so are our ROMS I guess if you dont feel any problem with lomlom's then stick with it. Its a great ROM too and i and other members have solved almost all problems that happen with it after first time boot, so someone should use the result of those efforts too
When i came to this forum, i found that GENE users and specially those with NEW GENE were just crying around with SPL problems and nothing was there as a choice for them in terms of ROM availability. Thats why i decided to do whatever efforts i can to make things better for this part of the forum, ie. The GENE section. Now, i am not a social worker, but i feel for people whom problems i can sense becuase i also have them
Thanks for your complements
HTC Applications in this rom like home plugin, comm manager ,task manager , audio manager, album are very old versions
Can any one help me to update that one
or cook this rom with newer versions ????????
Home plugin? its not even there buddy! ya the ROM is a bit old, but works nicely.
Help !!!!!
hi guys ...i have a new gene (s/n ht8xxx) can any one tell me the steps to update my old wm5 to the new one step by step ...... please .....
Buddy, the way is completly described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2953612&postcount=2
Not to offend you or anything, please try to search before posting. Many of the custom ROM flashing problems with P3400 and P3400i have been already solved. Just a suggestion, Ok buddy.
And ya, although that tutorial references the lomlom's fusion ROM, you can use the ROM described in this thread too if you want to. The procedure is same, only use this ROM in place of fusion one.
thaaanx
thanx alot man ...u help me alot ....

[ROM] - 06/09/2009 - LouzeBerry - 6.1/21046 - Original TF3D + Fuzeberry

'LouzeBerry' 6.1 ROM -- Version 060909 (changelog below)
This is my latest 6.1 build. It's done with similar design choices to my 6.5 build, which is also still being maintained. Unlike the 6.5, this does include HTC Dialer and Volume, which have compatibility issues with 6.5.
It uses standard TF3D, and will until a version of TF3D2 that's more ready for prime-time shows up. Think of this like a stock ROM, minus the bloat, plus app and driver updates, plus a never system version, plus tweaks, plus little niceties (like better icons, FuzeBerry theme, Wallpapers, PSShutXP, Configurable button assignments, etc)
Getting to know this ROM:
* 6.1 Build 21046.
* TF3D STANDARD with a slightly customized FuzeBerry theme.
* Rhodium menu enhancement.
* Opera 9.5 16277, Advanced Config, Google Maps, Total Commander, Weathermaster (all uninstallable).
* HTC Album 2.5, with the social networking uploaders. I'm not crazy about the new behaviors 3.0, or about the fact that the uploaders aren't currently included in that version.
* Newer-style Comm Manager, with a 3G button and HTC settings screens for Wifi, Bluetooth and Phone.
* Available with and without HTC on-screen keyboards.
* Configurable button assignments.
* User Customization compatible.
(See further notes in next post)
Latest changelog / download
060909KB - With HTC Keyboard
060909NOKB - Without HTC Keyboard (makes installing third-party keyboard easier)
- Removed Tachi-style notifications entirely. They were bugging me. Left the cab in \windows (look for HTC Tachi ...) if you want them back.
- Nicer icons on the top bar (by Tsowen)
- NOTE: I've ID'd a conflict with HTC Keyboard's name lookup for the messaging up and Windows' own. Install this cab (originally created for a similar issue in 6.5) to disable Windows' lookup if you're on the version that includes the keyboard.
(Previous changelogs in next post)
MobileMatt, Mr. Fuzeberry himself, is now mirroring the ROM at http://www.fuzeberry.com/ (may not always be the current version).
Many thanks to Da_G for the kitchen, NRGZ28, Captain_Throwback, At0mAng for his own kitchen and patience, MobileMatt for creating Fuzeberry, and all the other usual peeps.

Important Notes:
* After first boot, go to Start --> Settings --> Connections and run Connection Setup (for some users, this may happen automatically if a program in their personal UC triggers it)
* Keyboard configured for the Fuze. Use this if you've got a non-Fuze Touch Pro.
* Removed certain redundant TF3D tabs (where functionality is duplicated elsewhere in TF3D). If you want them back, disable TF3D and unzip this to your windows folder.
* Don't like the FuzeBerry look? Dirty commie. Install this to put TF3D back to the default look. Warning: By doing this, you sacrifice super-awesomeness.

Suggestions
This rom is pretty incredible. I was really waiting for a chef to release and completely stable yet up-to-date rom. However I do have suggestions that I would really appreciate seeing in the next release:
Organizing the start menu (The rom looks great with the theme but the start menu is super ugly)
Implementing the comm manager that allows you to disable 3G
including gps test, a flashlight program, beejive im, facebook, pimbackup, cleartemp. file explorer plus (most roms include this version), regedit
Possibly re-work some of the ugly settings icons and stuff like that
Bug:
None, as stable as they come so far.
If some of these things could be taken care of, I can't see any rom be better anytime soon. Hopefully you will take some of these suggestions but they are suggestions so keep up the work however that may be.

Running out the door, but quick answers:
Start menu clean-up is on the to-do list. That may include revising icons.
Maybe on the comm manager -- have never checked to see if it can be done on the new rhodium-style one (which lets you get deeper into settings than the old one).
New notifications are indeed included, but as explained as in post 2, you have to disable the stock-style "Large notifications" (it's in Settings-->System-->TouchFlo).
The suggested applications: Maybe some, but I prefer to keep my ROMs fairly spartan, as everyone's preferences are different (for instance, I don't personally use most of those apps), and it's easy enough for people to install their favorite apps with User Customization.
For the "bug" -- it's not a bug, it's a design choice. You can change the button behavior under Settings-->System--Task Manager (the gray one, not the one with the ekg-like reading).
Glad you're enjoying the ROM. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks for the quick reply. Completely forgot about the task manager setting and I always thought when people were talking about large notifications they were talking about the way it looked when you see receive a message a large box would show up . I completely understand your want for keeping the ROM lite but maybe two different versions would be really cool ( one could be lite and without keyboard, and the other one not loaded but standard). In my opinion its easier to ignore or uninstall a unnecessary program than it is to go out and find these cabs and repopulate the start menu yourself. And I want to thank you again for the quick reply and for being polite on my oversight about the notifications and notifications .

Some people probably are talking about that with the large notifications. I keep referring to the stock ones that way because the actual package in the kitchen is "Enlarge Title Bar." I'll revise Post No. 2 to be clearer.
Edit: Oh, and I just confirmed in my test -- you can still enable that 3G Button for the comm manager via Advanced Config (it's one of the "more settings" options. You just have to pick which existing button you want to get rid of.
Flashed this yesterday. This is seriously good stuff!!
I like it that you've made a lot of uninstallable stuff on this ROM unlike most of the other chefs who pile a lot of stuff but a lot of is useless, at least to me.
I'll be trying your WM6.5 next!
Keep up the good work!
Best rom (and have tested almost everything , only thing, I would think that "Getting Started" is something you could remove, as anyone flashing roms should already have got started

Agreed - there's a few things that I left over in there accidentally that I'd usually omit, but nothing that seemed worth doing a new build just to take them out. Will probably be removed from the next version.
New build up. Updated to 21046
Excellent work!!
I think you may very well be the most under acknowledged chef here in the Raphael Rom Dev. I havent posted lately but Ive actually played with all of these roms here and used many of the other chefs roms back when they were cooking for kaisers. I have been flashing and testing ur roms(both 6.5 and 6.1) for a couple months now along with the other chefs here and, not to take anything away from the more popular chefs here, yours have been the most stable and compatible with my device(ATT FUZE). 6.5 is great but im not thrilled with the change in start menu or other little incompatibilities at this point. However, ur 6.1 builds have offered no forming bugs(dailer, messaging, settings etc...); i dont experience excessive device heat when on long calls or using gps; and have had pretty decent battery life. And as Ive said all you chefs offer excellent roms; gotta love the flair and latest NRG brings and definately the completeness and dedication of Arrups roms. I did notice something that may have gotten overlooked with the urge of chefs to cook the latest builds and leave previous behind and that is the battery life and functionality of the original 5.08 20771 after being cooked up without bloatware etc. Im not sure if u have one but NRG actually had a 1.6 rom that was superb with one slight bug in the messaging which is the only reason i do not use it to date as i text a lot. Now dont get me wrong the batter life on this 21046 is good but doesnt compare to 20771. So im not sure if im making a suggestion or request but i do enjoy ur roms and have settled in with this one as my everyday rom until an official 6.5 is released but I dont cook and would love a stable updated 20771 other than the bloated march 1st test release(ive got that). Well, hats off and thank you for your most excellent roms.
Best Regards,
Phantom
Phantom -- Thanks for the kind words.
The reason the ROM is so stable is that I don't do all that much to customize it -- and the things I am doing, I've had some time to tweak and fix. I'm still learning as a chef, but I've tried to only expand and customize the ROM in ways that I'm sure I understand what the implications are. Some other chefs prefer to push the envelope a bit more -- which can mean some great features and enhancements in their ROMs, but also may mean risking complications. So most of the credit for what's good about mine really goes to Da_G for the great kitchen, and to the others involved in creating it. I'm just the guy who's treading carefully.
As far as creating a 20771 -- it's not on my agenda right now, but I never say never. Life's pretty busy at the moment, with some work complications, but I'll keep the request in mind.
Hi WordSmith, just flashed your latest ROM, the Start Menu looks much nicer and neater now and almost as perfect as I'd do it if I did it myself. *thumbs up*
Anyway I just realised that the nbh file became much bigger at 142mb as compared to the 051109 version, which was only 127mb. You added a lot more stuff into this 052909 version that a noob like me didn't notice?
Yahoo mail
I like this Rom. But i have a problem. I cannot set up my Yahoo mail. When I go to Menu -> Accounts -> New Accounts. It goes to outlook email. Can someone help me set up my Yahoo mail. Nice ROM Thnx

I'm not quite sure what you'd expect it to do differently. Any mail account is an outlook account, i nthe sense that outlook is the program being used for it. But you can still set up POP3 and IMAP4 accounts in Outlook. I don't use Yahoo Mail -- is it set up as one of those, or do you normally do something different. Am I just misunderstanding something about your post? Have you had it working on other ROMs, and if so, what was different?
Email
Every Rom I flashed, I always setup my Yahoo mail. I always go to program email set up. Im not using outlook email, I used Yahoo. I'm trying to look for an email steup cab. Anyways, Thnx for your quick reply. I love this Rom.

Still just not quite understanding what you're asking. When you say you set up your yahoo mail, what are you setting it up with, if not outlook? Where I'm getting confused is that Outlook is the program, but Yahoo is the provider -- so to say you're using Yahoo instead of outlook throws me off, as you can/would use yahoo -with- outlook. Links to "E-mail" and "Messaging" in Windows Mobile are links to the Outlook application.
That is, unless you're usually setting it up in a different e-mail program (one that doesn't come standard with Windows Mobile), or unless yahoo offers some specialty e-mail program for windows mobile that I don't know about (it could for all I know; i don't use yahoo myself).
Were the other ROMs you used using TF3D2? I have limited experience with TF3D2, but I know there's an HTC-created e-mail setup wizard that appears on some ROMs (not sure offhand if this is part of TF3D2 or independent of it; I've never used it). It could be that you're used to that, and that it walks you through the setup for Yahoo mail.
In any case, when you go to set up an e-mail account, the first thing it should ask you is for your e-mail address. I'm 99% sure that if you give it a yahoo address, it will recognize that it knows Yahoo as a provider, and simplify the rest of the wizard to set up your Yahoo account in Outlook. Don't have the 6.1 ROM on the phone right now or a Yahoo account yo test with, but I'd be very surprised if that didn't work.
Hope that helps. If it doesn't, please try to provide some more specifics about what you mean when you say you set it up with yahoo, not outlook.
My problem is How to configure my email account. When I try to setup new email account it always go to Messaging inbox. I click
Menu-> Tools-> New Account. Then it will just go to messaging Inbox. I cannot set up new email account.
Email
I flashed your LouzeBerry - 6.5/21222 Rom & try to setup / configure my yahoo mail, It works fine. I think the 6.1 Rom has a problem in configuring the new email account. Thnx for this Rom, very fast.

|RAPH|ROM|6.5|WWE|Beta 2 ROM *Blue Shine?*

Here is a ROM that I'm working on. Far from finished, but I wanted to get some input on it. Still working on better folders, once I figure out how to do it, and some registry changes. I hope to have this as a final version soon. I can't see any of the functionality change if there is a new release. But, feedback is what I'm looking for. I still have a lot to learn. Thank you.
Also, how do you list the software installed? I plan on trying to keep everything up to date as much as possible.

i guess I need to go back to the previous connection settings. The new ones seem kind of flaky. oh well. I created the rom before checking my work, now I know to check before rushing.
Hi splxtreme,
I created a free Collector account on www.rapidshare.com ... that's where folks are pulling my kitchen files from.
Doesn't appear to impose limits other than wait time for downloaders.
HTH,
Thanks for the info. I'll try that out.
im hoping for someone who can port the latest OSes into the fuze, since the awesome Da_G kitchens are coming to an end.
Try to get something that is lightweight, barebones with OS and the good HTC packages like album and wifi sharing. apart from that keep it very lean so that people can choose what they need and go from there.
OK, added some things and changed some. Hopefully this is already stable enough for people to use. I'm not done with it yet. So, enjoy.
i wonder if its possible to do a rom as i describe below.
- ROM should have only barebones OS simply tuned for the fuze.
- All other applications and settings should be packaged to individual cabs.
- Provide a list of all cabs with dependencies if any.
- Provide UC script to install all cabs in right order by default.
This way, we start off with a barebones rom and people who dont wish to tinker, can just use the given UC script to do all their packages, but if you want, you can remove some UC entries in case you dont want some packages.

Fantastic, that would be something someone like me would be looking forward to
Some of the things i use are
HTC wifi sharing
Facebook
Palringo
Google maps
Bing search
windows live
lumos
skype
pocketwit
gpstest
office mobile
right now im using energyrom warhawk which is fantastic. I like the energyrom series since they are pretty and yet stable and fast. however they do have some fluff (not criticizing, NRG has made a great rom) that i dont use. im pretty sure if that was cleaned out then it would be a wee bit faster for me. but i dont have to time to go thru with Da_G's clean rom, and try to bring it to energy roms level, so if i could just get all settings and software in a neat cab list, i can certainly take a few minutes to prune that and get my ideal set working.
fluffs - what am i talking about?
things like beejiveIM - its beta and crashes all the time, non stock games, widgets, wifi monster are some of the things i could do without.
oooh and for name, how about "Touch of Blue"

NEON 400 Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM

For NEON 400 users only!
Please do not even consider flashing this rom unless your device is a NEON 400. That's the Canadian Telus/Bell version of the HTC Touch Dual. If you don't know how to find out the model number... then I suggest you do some more reading before you consider flashing any roms.
Hey All,
My old phone died so I recently became the proud owner of the HTC Touch Dual NEON 400. Long story short I unlocked it (Thanks to jockyw2001) and found that there are no Chefs out there with this device. There's a couple dedicated dudes out there trying to help all of us NEON 400 users (Talking about you Rataplan, deepankerjha), but since they don't actually have this device it's pretty tough for them to prepare and test a rom for us.
So, I took the plunge. With Rataplan's help (thanks a lot buddy, couldn't have gotten this far without you're help) I've been cooking away and have a solid WM 6.5 ROM here for us. It's based on the Telus stock ROM and WM 6.5 build 21914. I haven't yet cleared all the extra's (so it's a bit fat) but in my testing so far it's 100% functional and bug free (well, as bug free as WM can be )
I can't guarantee how well it'll work on the Bell NEON 400's, but if you have a Telus device, this should do the trick. I'm using it right now on mine.
Please leave feedback if you try this ROM out. I am still a novice chef, but I'll take feedback to heart, and I'll continue cooking and optimizing roms for the NEON 400 as I learn more and get better.
Happy Flashing!
I'll post updates as they come.
UPDATE:
Sorry all, but in my quest to migrate to the Android OS I've ditched my Neon in favour of the Vogue. I'll upload the Lite ROM I was working on for those who want it. The only thing I was having trouble with was the GPS, apart from that the ROM runs very nicely with the extra weight of the cube and other fat removed. Feel free to PM me if you have questions, I'll do my best to help if I can.
Give me a few days to do a fresh build of the Lite ROM and to take one more stab at getting the GPS working.
Okay my final roms are up. Hopefully Rataplan will have the links posted below shortly.
Lite Version: 1.01 - 1.03
-WM 6.5 Build 21914
-TouchFlo Cube removed
-A bunch of other bundled HTC/Telus packages removed
-GPS is still flaky
Version: 2.01
-WM 6.5 Build 21914
-Nothing removed, All stock HTC and Telus packages remain
EDIT I can't post links just yet, so Rataplan's going to help me out with that, check his post below for the download links.
Here are the links:
NEON400_201 Added 19th August
NEON400_Lite_101 Added 9th November
NEON400_Lite_102 Added 9th November
NEON400_Lite_103 Added 9th November
Loaded on my Bell NEON400. Took a while to get to setup and made a few bleeps along the way, now it's at the "Customization" part. Will update as I finish setup and test it out.
EDIT: Finished installation, looks pretty good, will test calling and texting as we go. Any chance we can strip the Telus crap out of it though? Hate seeing "Telus" everywhere when it's not even a Telus phone.
EDIT 2: Trying to set up ActiveSync to sync with my Google Account - it freezes every so often for a short while and won't respond to taps or key presses. Seems to be common in all applications. Also, the keys operate but the backlight never turns on for them (disregard that - they do work, see Edit 4).
EDIT 3: Hitting the X to close a window doesn't kill the app like it did in WM 6.1. Not sure if this normal behaviour or not (first time flasher).
EDIT 4: After a reboot the key backlight is working again. When I try changing the keyboard however to a full QWERTY layout the setting never saves and always reverts to the "touch keypad" or whatever it is (same problem in WM 6.1 so it's a setting issue not a ROM issue - disregard please).
If you could get rid of the Telus branding everywhere and see what's up with the freezing this ROM would be perfect!
Nice job.
got_milk, Thanks for testing on your Bell device. Like I said in the post I wasn't sure what to expect on a Bell phone. I'm working on a lite version right now with the Telus stuff stripped out. I'm also trying to remove the added weight from HTC like the touchflo cube (I really hate that thing...)
I've noticed the problem with the X button not closing apps. It seems in WM 6.5 it just sort of minimizes them. Although if I recall there's a setting somewhere that lets you set it so you can close an app by holding the X instead of just tapping it. I'll look into that some more.
In regards to the responsiveness one thing I've noticed is that when memory is low I sometimes have to tap and hold the buttons for a moment before they register. I initially thought it just wasn't reading the hits but found by accident that I could make it work by holding it for an extra moment. Hopefully this won't be a problem once I get my Lite version working.
I highly recommend downloading and installing Finger Keyboard. It's my favourite by far. I can't post links yet, but the thread where I found it is titled:
\\\\\\\\\ F i n g e r K e y b o a r d 2 ///////// v2.1 - NOW ONLINE - all resolutions
One other thought: If you could hook me up with the ROM you're using as the stock Bell ROM I could recreate this 6.5 ROM using it as the base. This might solve some of your problems too.
Thanks again for testing!
Not a problem, thank you more for doing this! I really hate how we're limited to WinMo 6.1, when we clearly have a 6.5 capable device.
I'm using the stock Bell ROM from jockyw2001's HardSPL post (stickied at the top of this forum).
Looking forward to the lite edition, I will certainly test it when you release it.
So, I couldn't stay away (Software Engineering student...lol). I set up my own kitchen and started to cook using a stock Bell ROM. I've managed to strip all the Bell crap + the HTC cube and make a nice clean ROM.
However!
I've encountered one bug so far. On the home screen, where "Text" should be, it's simply blank and clicking it gets me to the main Outlook menu (where I choose Text Messages or Outlook E-mail). I can also not create text messages or reply to them. I know we've hit this roadblock before but no one's said how they got around it.
I also don't have data working at all - it's not being configured automatically (I think the Bell customization wizard does this, but it's disabled).
EDIT: Okay, it's as I suspected. There's a connection.xml file that's part of the Bell scripts that is added to handle data access. Anyone know how I can add data as part of the ROM package?
For sms take a look at this post from 88fingerslukee,

Yes, it's essential anyway so I get prompted if it's not included. It's not part of WM build 21914 however...
So I've tried with a bunch of different WM builds, new kitchen setups, and everything I can think of under the sun.
Data works out of the box - it's just not enabled by default. If you go into the comm manager and enable data it seems to work.
SMS is still broken. When it's not highlighted right above the text 'Text' it displays 'No notif...'. Highlighting 'Text' gives you absolutely no text at all and your option for that is 'View', which takes you to your call list.
I've cooked all day and yet I cannot get this to work at all. I'm rolling back to WM 6.1 until I can find a solution.

got_milk, way to go bud! Glad to have another new chef in the kitchen. I wont bother cooking a Bell ROM as you're already on track. My Lite ROM is gonna be a while anyway. Between wife, kids, job, and house... I just don't have a whole lot of time to tinker.
In regards to your SMS problem, I might be able to help. I too had problems getting SMS to work when I started working on my Lite ROM. After some trial and error what I found fixed it was to include two files from the OEMAPPS pkg.
Strip out all the crap from OEMAPPS you don't want and make sure that these two files remain, then include the package in your next build:
234f3319-55a2-46a3-be32-24530a643a0f.dsm
234f3319-55a2-46a3-be32-24530a643a0f.rgu
I'll be honest, I didn't do any research on the significance of these files, I just happened upon it by chance.
Good Luck!
Aha! I shall do another cook tonight and see if that does the trick.
EDIT: You sir, are a brilliant genius. I didn't have the .rgu version but the .dsm was there. Deleted everything out of OEMAPPS but that, cooked and flashed, and texting works now.
Thanks a ton!
Excellent! Glad I could help
So, my two bugs I've noticed so far...
No data. EV-DO is available, looks like it has to be set up manually. Anyone know how we can incorporate this into the cooking? I've tried ADC but it doesn't work, says it's not a valid Pocket PC application every time the phone boots up.
Also, the buttons along the top (sound, data, etc) work normally in the home screen, but enter any app and while the icons remain the same their functions have now been shifted one to the left. (Volume becomes Close, Data becomes Volume, etc).
When I first started a Lite ROM I stripped my Operator EXT packages. That killed my data. I put'em back to work on the OEM pkg's. I haven't had time to dissect the EXT packages yet to find the pieces we need for data. Whichever one of us figures that out first will have to share it with the other
For now I'm still picking through the OEM packages finding all the pieces I want/need to keep.
Not sure about your taskbar buttons, might be related to that handy tasks dropdown item that's usually on the far right (like a quickview task manager you can use to close running apps) I don't know if that's a WM feature, or something HTC bundled in.
That's an HTC bundled application (TaskManager.exe in OEMApps). I removed it and the bug's still there. You don't have this problem?
Data is handled via Connection.xml which is injected - somehow - during the "Customization" process. You CAN do it yourself manually - simply add a new connection and have it dial #777.
There's not much in the EXT packages - and what's there is impossible to tell for now, I'll dissect more and see what's there.
Strange, when I hit any of the buttons along that top taskbar it just opens up a bubble with icons for each of the options available, and then select an item from the bubble. Individually the icons along the top don't actually do anything for me, they all just open this bubble.
Right, which is the normal behaviour - it's when you actually select an icon from that bubble that everything appears to have shifted one position to the left.
Try it at the home screen and then in an application.
Also, looks like data is handled via "Connection.xml" which is placed inside the Windows folder (I'm back to stock 6.1 to check file locations). If I try to put that inside OEMApps or whatever and have that copy over though it doesn't end up in the Windows folder as far as I can tell.
I'm also trying to strip out the more unnecessary stuff, however, the camera always breaks and says the app is missing files to run. I can get rid of the cube, and everything else, but I'd like to leave the camera function behind (strips 30MB off the ROM if I clean everything else out). But the camera doesn't work.
