Hope some one will get a better radio rom soon, this version seam to have bad reception compared to my Touch/Elf.

saw this thread and I thought great....a TMob version..bound to have fixed the radio issue with poor reception....
but, I guess not (

Alright, downloading my rom into raw files.
Will upload to RS in a couple of minutes.
As it is a old laptop only USB1.1 speed

Maybe a stupid quistion but what are the .raw files exactly? is it an exact copy of The files originally from the t-mobile vario IV? and how do i install them Sry if a bit noobish quistion but im fairly new to roms etc.

Even if it had a different radio version to 1.02.25.19 it might not fix the poor reception issue since this mostly seems to be occurring on T-Mobile UK and this is the Dutch T-Mobile Rom!
If it makes you feel any better, part of the reason I changed to O2 was because of the poor signal on T-Mobile (The other part was that O2 were cheaper for Pay Monthly sim only) but my 3G signal is no better on O2, in fact I'd say T-Mobile was better for 3G! O2 has really good GPS reception though, and they have Edge too.
I don't want to turn this thread in to another one discussing how bad the Touch Pro's signal is compared to other devices with the stock radio though, the best thread for discussing this can be found here

any news about an update with fixes for the poor gsm/gps reception? got a dutch vario VI since a couple of days but not happy with the this issues.

Radio for t-mobile in The Netherlands

Hey guys, I'm on the t-mobile network in The Netherlands and o be blunt, my reception sucks. I'm missing a lot of calls and sometime my phone doesn't even want to call the outside world. After pressing the sent butting is just waits, tries to connect and give a 0:00 time and then quits again.
I've tried a few different radio roms, the original that my phone was supplied with (can't remember which one, 1.41 1.48 and 1.50, but none of them seem the fix the problem. Is there anybody out there on the t-mobile network, preferrably in The Netherlands that has a Hermes and decent reception?
Help is very much appreciated
Meer info nodig, welke rom draait erop?

I'm running latest Sleuth rom (3.1) with radio rom 1.47 and my reception is excellent!

Lees I am on the latest HTC WM6 ROM official and Radio 1.50 everything is perfect. Although I had the problems you describe a couple of months ago. It started one day and would not go away and did that inside and around the place I live. I decided to call T-Mobile and gues what they said that there was a problem with one of the Masts in my neghbourhood... They advised me to switch to GSM only for while and it took them about 3-4 weeks to fix the problem. So give them a call and see which masts are in your neughbourhood maybe one of them is on maintanance. And usually they take these kind of calls seriously. By me I even got a follow up call that they were still bussy fixing it. (het was een gedoe dat een mast weg moest want de contract met de gebouw eigenaar verlopen was dus ze zochten een nieuwe plek, kan gebeuren).
Well, I've tried 1.47 and I get a bad reception and missed calls as well. I think I have to do a complete reflash (OS as well) and then see what happens.
I'm from Belgium and I am often in the Netherlands for business. No problems whatsoever with Black Majik and radio 1.50.00.00. No missed calls and good reception.
Read my signature.
I've tried all possible combinations. Info below is probably the fastest an most reliable combination.
Only I have KPN as provider......

Yeah i did, but they didn't know of any issues. I've also have a HTC Wizard and that work without any pronlems. My HTC Hermes problems or on different locations as well, so I think it's a problem with my phone.
I'll flash to the new Black ROM as soon as it's out and then see what happens
I am running Schaps 3.54B and Radio 1.50.00.00. and it's running perfectly.
Good reception and good battery life.
This is on a T-Mobile MDA Vario II
I am back to the 1.47 Radio rom, ( hier in Utrecht heb ik net 1 streepje meer umts ontvangst, vergeleken met de 1.50 die ik had )
For me is 1.47 better than the 1.50
I am on Tmob Netherlands. Never had a problem with the reception. I have tried several radios. Right now using 1.50. To be frank, cant tell the difference between this and the previous ones.

Great~~~!!!
First impressions are very good. Signal strength similar or better than 1.50 here around the house and my HSDPA data connection is noticeably faster... I post battery usage later after a day´s use...
Thx for the upload...will try it later, do you know sth about the BL of this Radio ROM?:..
Regards,
Primoz
Thx jcespi2005, it's good
Thanks, I will try this later today, already downloaded.
I can confirm this version WORKS with ROGERS in Toronto and from reading on another thread, seems OK with FIDO as well.
No missed calls, rings on first ring (unlike 1.46.00.00, 1.47.00.00, 1.48.00.00 and 1.50.00.00).
It seems that the versions that work for ROGERS all end in an .10 rather than the .00 of the ones listed above.
This radio is a keeper for me.
T-MOBILE USA - Looking good
On preliminary observation, good signal and one of the faster responses to incoming calls since the 1.41 radio.
More on battery life and cell switching in a day or two.

And works with T-Mobile NL also..No problems yet..
Update: Works great when you call or sms & receive, BUT CANT USE UMTS, CANT INTERNET.
So Dutch folks, keep it by radio 1.50
It's so strange when I upgrde the this radio.
I can feel that the upgrade speed is appearing slow than anyother former version.
Some fans can't load hermes after upgrade and some can't see the new radio version in "device information". So... is anybody here has the same problem? And who can tell what is going wrong.
The best for now
Radio 1.51 it's a must have.
No more ring delay, at last the TyTN ring starts between the first and the second caller line tone..., like a real phone
HSDPA working very well

Works fine for me.
I have tested using GPRS only, and 3G with and without HSDPA, and works every time. Can sync with my exchange server using push mail, and navigate with Internet Explorer in all situations.
Seems a little better coverage than 1.50 for me, here with Orange Spain.

Best Radio for the UK in general

Hi guys,
Just came back to the UK from HK and the reception on my Hermes is pretty bad.
I was using 1.47.30.10 with Smartone Vodaphone in Hong Kong and it was brillient.
However, now back in the UK, with 3, my reception is really bad, sometimes even no recpetion. I am in Birmingham.
I also need to flash my girlfriends phone which is on O2.
Really would appriciate some advice from members here.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Jason
52 views and no one can be bothered to help out?
am on orange uk using latest official radio from orange - 1.38.
Not much use to you I guess though. I think T mobile users have a later one as the best for them.
Probably best advice is to try several and see what's best for you as the roadio rom's can be specicfic to the operators.
I used 1.50.00.00 with good results on both O2 and Vodafone networks.
Heard 1.51 was bad. Not tried the most recent one 1.54 (I think).
k-c
thanks for the replies guys.
will try a few out and report back on 3UK best.
on t-mob on hertfordshire, the besy tom for me was 1.40. but just giving 1.54 a test now...
not sure thta helps as we are so far apart
Let me us know how you get on with the 1.54's the 07 has been the best one I've used and I've tried most of the good ones. 1.27, 1.38, 1.48. 1.50
Well im in Wolverhampton. Travelling around the west midlands and stafford areas.
Im on T-mobile and using radio version 1.43 with pretty good constant reception.
1.50.00 was probably the best, and I spend a lot of time in the West Midlands on Vodafone with 3G switched off.
hope no one minds me resurrecting this old thread, has anyone got recent opinions on this?
especially for vodafone?

Problem with 1.54.30.10?

Hi every one,
i've got my hermes radio to 1.54.30.10 month ago. and i've just seen a Seniour member started a thread warning that the 1.54 series are unstable....
i haven't met any problems till now.. i wanna know if it's possible for me to downgrade my radio to 1.47 or 1.38?
I'm no expert, but I went from 1.54.30.10 to the official 1.54.07.00. Never tried going lower.
I just downgraded to 1.43 due to problems with 1.54.30.10 - start loosing signal recently

Yes, u can down grade to a lower radio version, it's done quite often (assuming u have hardspl).
Thanks a lot~
I'll downgrade my Radio as soon as I finished this semester~
By the way...
Are there any serious problem( known as bricked your Hermes) if i continue to using this 1.54.30.10 Radio?
i mean if it necessary for me to downgrade my Radio?
No hard evidence, but 1.5+ radios are suspected for causing problems - read details HERE and HERE
I start experiencing problems similar to described in the above threads, so just downgareded to 1.43
Cheers
not having any major issues with this radio ROM, been on the radio for more or less 3 weeks (touch wood! ) .. am on Celcom Malaysia 3G (UMTS 2100)
Similar problems here. Downgraded, but it may be too late, had numerous connection problems and slow 3G on tmobile.
Forget radio 1.54.xxxxx
From my experience - flashing radio 1.54 can brick your phone , lost CID and sspl .

Bad plan get rid of it now.
Use this one: ftp://xda:[email protected]/HERM_Radio_Only_1.48.00.10_CustomRUU.rar
it's not worth the risk of waiting.... you've been lucky so far. Current thought is that the 1.5x series ROMs drive the radio chip too hard and it overheats to extinction. First signs are drops and erratic radio performance. If you wait until you already got it you prob waited too long. But if you do get those symptoms before you reflash, then pull the battery immediately and (OK this might sound weird but it worked for a friend of mine) put the phone & the battery in a zip lock baggy and put it in the freezer while you get that radio rom I pointed at above ready.
When ready, put it back together and immediately flash the Radio with the 1.48 version. After it resets and does it's business.... reflash the 1.48 again.
Hopefully you will never see the problem again, if that didn't work then you may as well try calling your provider to see if they will replace the phone.
I've downgraded my radio to 1.48 about 1 month ago..
i'll show my grateful to u, thanks a lot!
radio 1.54.30.10 is working perfect on Orange Israel ,Kiyevstar Ukrain, MTC Moscow , and other Europe countries that i visited , this radio is the best i tried

So far so good .. nothing bad happen yet .. notice that my CELCOM 3G signal getting better ...
Same here, I have a better signal and connects to 3G faster than AT&T's radio 1.54.07.00, and I am on the AT&T Network
just to add to the the list of "satisfied customers" ..no problem whatsoever with my provider (UMTS 2100/GSM 900+1800)..
best downgrade and how to obtain it
I'm also experiencing similar problems. I have been running 1.54.07.00 for about 3 months and steadily experiencing more drop-outs on the phone service. I've ready different treads and some people have downgraded to 1.48 and other to 1.43. Is either one a better choice? And, sorry to ask a basic question, but where to I download the downgrade. I searched, but to no avail.
Hermes 100
Rom Version 3.62.502.3
Rom date 10/11/2007 (Oct 11)
Radio version: 154.07.00
I've been using this Radio on my Vario II since it showed up here (2 months maybe) and nothing happened. Signal strength is still the same. For me personally it's the best Radio I've been using so far. I'd be a pity having to downgrade now...

I've had the 'false roaming' icon on for a few weeks now in addition to a 'no signal' scare for a few hours. I'm thinking of just downgrading to the 1.43 radio that originally shipped with the WM5 AT&T ROM.

Thanks for help...
I tried the radio version 1.54.00.10.
First impression : good. Better signal gsm, no longer have a echo.
Try this maybe for Germany.
I'm using 1.47.00.10 on vodafone in the Netherlands.
Together with the Schaps 4.30 rom, all works fine to me!
Grtz Mark
Hi,
I use and Mobistar and Proximus in belgium with 1.47.00.10. No problem at all (3G included). As there are some rumors that the radio versions above 1.47 could have a negative impact on the radio hardware, i decided to stay at 1.47.
Ok Thanks / Merci / Dank je
