Euro HTC Diamond Touch Pro & 3g - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

rom version 1.90.405.1 wwe
rom date: 8/01/08
radio version: 1.02.25.19
protocol version: 52.33.25.17u
I just purchased the phone 10 days ago and I am in the US. The phone only connects via the AT&T EDGE netwaork. I have placed a call to HTC US support , but they tell me the phone will not connect via 3G except Europe or Asia, because it is setup for the Euro/Asia bands for 3G. I have scoured the internet searching for an updated rom to allow my phone to connect to US 3g. I am throwing myself on the alter of the Gurus for assistance in updating my device to work with speed available on US AT&T 3G. HTC did say unofficially that AT&T was carrying the device labeled as the Stealth. Please assist.
Thanks
CJed

New User saying hello and an answer on 1900mhz

Hi all,
as a new XDA user have been reading through the forum with interest, found out a lot about my unit that I did not know and am sure there is a lot more to find,
My XDA is a Model PW10B1
Rom : 4.00.01ENG
Radio 4.20.00
Protocol 32S54
At the moment I am using a T-Mobile (UK) Sim in it and am happy with the service,
In answer to some of the comments on the board about using the phone in the US, I can confirm it does work fine, I got the best service on the US T-Mobile network around Denver where the GPRS worked fine, (Using the T-Mobile offer of GPRS at same as UK rates, managed to do anot of good data transfer), on the West Coast (LA) the phone works fine but no GPRS available, due to the network roaming agreement there.
hope that helps for anyone thinking about taking XDA to a US area
Ammendment to the Above,
I should say that my XDA is a Model PW10A1, but since installing 2003 the software page reports it a PW10B1
And the Test in the US was done before the 2003 was written over the standard ROM
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=47035#post47035
This user says his won't work at all in the US.
Hi
Well all I can tell you is that my phone which is a 64mb UK o2 device worked fine, both on T-Mobile while in Denver and also in Los Angles, but only got GPRS service in Denver!.
Maybe the other poster had an older model, or some other reason i don't know all I can say is that my unit looged onto the US network as soon as the band was switched in the bootloaded.
I am back there next month, I will take a picture of the screen if you want showing it logged onto the netowrk if you want to see proof!!

verizon 6800, with Radio ROM 3.42.30, roaming in costa rica

I will be in Costa Rica in 2 weeks and will need a phone.
I took the plunge and flashed my phone to:
Titan Radio ROM 3.42.30 [6-25-08 From Vogue (ship) ROM]
DCD Titan ROM 3.2.0 [6-24-08 WM 6.1 CE OS 5.2.19958 Build 19958.1.2.0]
is there any way i can use the phone down there, or will I need to rent an international phone?
thanks in advance

If there's a CDMA provider down there, it could work. If not, you're out of luck.
if Wi-Fi is available in most places, try using Skype for PocketPC
its possible. i know VZW sold their stake in the Costa Rica cell phone company a little over a year ago, and it became Clara. there is definitely a CDMA network (and possibly EVDO) down there, but you would only roam if VZ has roaming contracts with the carrier(s) there. check verizons site or call them up.
Here is your answer from Verizonwireless.com. I looked because next spring I will being traveling there to finish my degree or maybe China.
http://b2b.vzw.com/international/Global_Phone/Central-South_America/Costa Rica.html
It seems skype doesnt work on 6.1
any other suggestions?
I'm building a home in CR and use the mogul when down there. I do not use phone service since it is very expensive. I use wifi and can receive and send email and skype. You can use skype by going to their web site, using wifi and looking/hearing your messages. I have a skype number so people can leave messages and I email them back. I also use the Igo mini bluetooth keyboard so it is easier to type responses. Wifi is generally available at hotels etc. I hope this helps.

Radio Clarification Question (NOT another which is "best" Q)

With so many Radio stacks to choose from, I decided to do some researching about each one, as well as tried to determine which one is used the most. I understand that as with ROMs, there is not a "best" radio stack to choose from but rather, the experience varies form person to person based on individual needs.
I have narrowed the selections down to 3 or 4 different versions but before I flash my device, I was hoping someone could help clarify the one question I could not find an answer to.
Are certain radio stacks carrier specific? Is there a radio version that is better for devices using TMO vs. devices using ATT?
For example:
My current set up is:
Carrier: T-Mobile USA (Seattle)
Device: HERM100 Hermes (specifically the Cingular 8525 version)
ROM: MRH 6.5 Rainbow WM6.1 (19212-ish)
Radio: 1.16.00.00
Knowing that I have TMO USA can I flash my device with 1.54.30.10? It seems that this has only been tested on ATT, does that mean it wont work with TMO? (will i lose TMO services with an ATT radio?)
Thanks in advance,

From what I have read in different forums
00.00 optimised for US and UK
30.10 optimised for OZ and down under
00.10 optimised for general use.
Hope this helps, and yes it will be good for users from all over the world to come together and get a report together as to what is best for their area.
I am in Christchurch, New Zealand, and am using 1.47.30.10 thanks in advance.

When I was researching which radios people are using, I only compared the radio version to the carrier they were using. I can't believe I didn't think about the region a radio version is optimized for. That makes a lot more sense and I would say, that's some very important info for anyone to know before flashing their radio. Good lookin out! Thanks
EDIT: So I guess now the question would be...Since I am located in America i know that i should be using a radio version that ends in 00.00...Does it matter which carrier I am using? Or can I flash any radio version ending in 00.00?
I also agree that it would be great if we could have users from a variety of regions post their Radio version, Carrier and Region information. If we can get a good mix of information, I will throw it into a matrix and post it into the wiki. This would be a great reference for anyone who wants to update their radio. (it would also help eliminate noobish questions)
For example:
If a user posted:
Region: USA / Radio: 1.16.00.00 / T-Mobile (all services work without error)
and a second user posted:
Region: USA / Radio: 1.16.00.00 / AT&T (all services work without error)
then noobs like me (or anyone for that matter) would know that its probally safe to flash any radio version optimized for US/UK no matter what their carrier is.
Just a thought..

upgrading rom to turkish Htc touch pro bought at ebay.com

Hi, I bought this HTC touch pro almost one year ago.. my celular provider is switching to 3G but my phone cannot connect the 850 network band...I tried to upgrade the rom at htc's site, they answer the rom must be upgraded at htc turkish site. I have 2 concerns... I can't speak turkish, so I could sell my soul to devil without notice (lol)... and of course can change my phone language to turkish and make it useless for me...
Thanks,
Katya
rom version 1.90.456.4 wwe
If your device dosent support the bands your provider uses for 3G then it never will, The Radio bands are hard coded into the cpu so software wont change a thing

First you need to update your info like what country and what Cell.provider you use will help...
this is the spec. for your phone
http://www.htc.com/www/product/touchpro/specification.html
it says that the phone can detect 850 network band...
3G currently 900/2100
maybe you need to check with your provider to change your sim card to 3g capable one.....
for my knowledge some provider when they switch to 3g and you have older Sim will not work and will require new Sim card.
just give them a call nothing to loose.
this is as far as my knowledge...
let us know and good luck...
you have a wwe rom
so in theory it should be possible to upgrade but you need to softspl it first
for the 3G it should be there with or without abbo as long as you have a sim which is connected to the network. if it is not it is not available in the area or the phonesettings are set to gprs only, it shows a G then.
the frequenties are hardcoded indeed and are present in the touch pro.
controlled by the radio rom.
updating my post
Hi... I'm in San Jose-Costa Rica... my service provider is ICE, the goverment company... they just bought the 3g from huawei or something like that...
I'm going to try my sim in other phone to verify 3G compatibility of my sim.
Thanks a lot...
I really like to had the chance to upgrade my phone... I need a US or maybe UK serial number to download new roms
Thanks again

Its not necessary that HTC's Turkish site will have turkish ROM.
And maybe you should try a XDA WWE ROM.
And 3g has got nothing to do with ROMs.
You need to check in device info(in settings) what processor do you have if it is 701 or 702 then only you can have 3g reception.
if it is 706 then sorry you can't have 3g reception no matter what ROM or Radio you use.

But i don' think the OP understood.
Anyways he should be checking his processor.
And giving details about his device.
But for sure 3G has nothing to do with ROM/RADIO/SIM.
It depends on your processor, your network provider, your subscription to 3G.

[Q] Remove Telstra Settings from the HD2 (Australia)

iv been wanting to buy teh htc hd2 for a while, and now that it has been released here in australia it is only exclusive to telstra!! im going to stay with my current provider vodafone!
ONE problem....... the phone is installed with teh telstra stuff, which i don't want!!! as i would like to use the phone with its original settings, (without telstras software installed!!) therefore i would like the phone to its custom and manufactured settings!!
is this possible?? can anyone please help??
Quite easy to do - have just finished the same myself. The Telstra-branded version is not operator locked, so all you need to do is install HSPL, followed by any of the HD2 ROMs (official or otherwise) here. I've loaded a couple of different ROMs so far, and am still trying to settle on which one to use permanently. It should also work with SSPL, but I found the HSPL route to be quick and easy.
The alternate ROMs do not affect the phone's ability to function on Next-G (mine is with Testra for the time being), and I've tested it brefly on a Vodafone SIM as well, with no problems.
I'm certainly no expert on this, but I'd be happy to help if you need any advice or assistance.......
So using the Official WWE would remove the Telstra stuff? I would just like a standard HTC ROM.
Yup - loading another ROM gets rid of ALL Telstra customisations. No loss of functionality that I've noticed, and I'm sure that you can still access mobile Foxtel etc if you wanted, just by entering the appropriate address in the browser (not that I've tried)......
thankyou for you reply cheesekeeper!!!
im sorry to be a pain but i am new to this i understand how to install HSPL, but i would liek to know which rom is safe to use and where can u get a good one from? the OFFICIAl htc website does not have any roms as it only has an upgrade for the camera at this stage!
So which one should i use? could you please guide me to one, i would be happy with any that would simply get rid of the telstra stuff!! so nothing too complex!
PeterMav suggested using the official WWE as he wanted a standard htc Rom... (its sounds like what i want) now how do u do that and where is that from.
i have done quite a bit of reading for most of the day today and it hasnt been as succesful as i hoped, but i feel im getting closer in finding an anwer now!! so i thankyou for you help!!
i also have another question....when i purchase the phone, i understand that wen my vodafone sim goes in, the internet will not work! but im guessing wen i ring vodafone they will send me settings to the phone....NOW do i get the settings sent after i do a rom update or before?
i thankyou for any help possible
This Link has the official WWE from another thread here.
Only got my HD2 today and been reading since this morning trying to get as much info as I can before I flash it.
petermav,
to flash that rom do u still need to install HSPL on the phone or just leave as is and use activesync?? as on the official htc website it doesnt say to do so.
By the way would it be still ok to upgrade using that rom being its not specifically for Australia or is it?
I assume you still need HSPL i'm trying to find that out.
And it should be fine for us in Australia from what I have read.
Warranty issue
HSPL will void your warranty. Make sure you read the threads before FLASHING your ROM.
And as for changing to another ROM you can still use your phone with all its functions.
I'm OPTUS user and I have dZenkinZ ROM installed on my HD2 works perfect, and is stable with minimal BATT drainage.
Can you please tell us what RADIO version TELSTRA uses.
Radio version is 2.05.51.11 for Telstra
So can you flash without using HSPL everything i've read so far says you need it.

i havnt got teh phoen yet, so i couldnt tell you, i wana know if i can change teh telstra before i actually buy it, thats y i am asking these questions!
SAIED16, do u have to install HSPL?? the clip i watched in you tube named "htc HD2 (leo) unlock. How to flash cooked rom" showed that it did not have hspl installed at the 4.30 min mark. it had spl.
besides that even if i want to instal an official htc rom from their website will that work and not void the warranty when i purchase the phone??
Well I just FLASHED the official WWE ROM.
I used HSPL and then run the ROM all the Telstra crap is gone and so far it's working great.
Took a whole 3 minutes to do.
YOu may want to check once you update to a Vanilla ROM that the BAND Selection still includes the NextG Frequency, ie WCDMA 850Mhz, thats if you still want to use the NextG Network. If it is missing you need to add some entries into the Registry to be able to select the WCDMA 850 Band
To check what BAND options you have, goto Phone -> Menu -> Options -> Band Settings.

Hi pies, Im just curious does the Vodafone HSDPA network cover the 850/2100 MHz frequency that the Telstra HD2 is soley supporting?

I would hold off because if you want to use Vodafone HSDPA then the Telstra version wont have any or as much covereage as the European one, 850 MHz is only used by Telstra as far as I know, whereas 3, Crazy John, Vodafone and Orange all use the 900/2100 MHz frequency.

hi flashmore,
so you think i should wait for the phone to be open to all networks? (i spoke to htc and they said after then it shall be available to the open networks) i know telstra only has the rights until the end of march! so i guess ill wait till then!
thanks flashmore.

Nothing would change at the end of March Telstra will likely re-contract, however, just do some research and check to make sure my info and other info is correct. I bought HD2 from UK which comes standard with a 2 year warranty, AUS you will most likely only have one year warranty, mind you I have the hassle of sending HD2 OS if there are any issues. That is no big deal to me really.
The phone cannot be open to all networks on HSDPA (sort of) since Telstra are the only comapany in Aus using the 850MHz frequency, Telstra model also supports 2100MHz HSDPA so you should get some coverage but not everywhere.
AUS, Telstra HSDPA (NextG) 850/2100 MHz
US, AT&T HSPDA 850/2100 MHz
Rest of the world (including Australia) HSDPA 900/2100 MHz
So the summary If you plan to use Telstra only then buy a Telstra branded model. If you decide to switch providers you will lose some coverage with a Telstra (NextG) model.
Regards

Sorry I need to correct myself FLASHING to a none official ROM will void your warranty.
I used a HTC TOUCH HD, which I bought from TELSTRA. and was Telstra branded. I had to take for warranty claim, since I FLASHED to a non Telstra ROM HTC claimed they will not fix it because I tampered with the phone.
HSPL is like jail breaking iPhone. and you can flash from your SD, and with SSPL you need your PC. Also with HSPL you can revert to Official ROM if something goes wrong during FLASHING which means you could get away with warranty issues. Read post 7.

Telstra flashing
Hello I am hoping to flash an official ROM to get rid of the telstra stuff, but still use the phone on the Telstra network- specificaly the 850 3G network
So could I get confirmation from somebody that the 850 UMTS frequency is still available to use after flashing, and if so which ROM did you use. (note that the phone working after flashing doesn't necesarily mean the 850 frequency is working- you may just be using Telstra's inferior 2100 frequency.
Thanks
non Telstra HTC HD2 no next G
Hi, im older, and not real high tech savvy but my new HTC HD2 from ebay did not work with Telstra MMS,they sent me settings for other model because theres none on auto config site. OK got MMS but appears only E for edge I assume is 2.5G? I have tried all settings on net and fiddled now got no MMS and Telstra sent me to HTC for rom upgrade..there is none..SO.
How can I get NextG or 3.5G whatever on this phone, getting dropouts as in country area. I would be happy for Telstra branded if the thing worked on Next G. I know settings up the creek as when send mms test message I get reply Pocket NEWS :code is invalid.ha ha ha boy im gonna be iNVALID soon.
Any help would be great .need sort of step by step config thanks
@rockerseven
If you bought your phone off ebay it probably does not have the 850 frequency- check the back- if there's no telstra logo you don't have the 850 frequency. No 850 frequency means no access to Telstras (better) Next G 3g service. This is a hardware problem, you can NOT fix it with a ROM unfortunately. Can't help with the MMS settings sorry- I find it cheaper and easier to send emails via my phone.
Onto my question-
anyone in Oz flashed their Telstra edition HD2 with a (non Telstra) stock or custom ROM and had it still work on the Next G 850 UMTS frequency, and if so what radio did you use?
