Where is a list of known shipped ROMs?
The wiki isn't kept up to date!

afaik the wiki is quite up to date, but if you think its not...... i guess you need to do some searching in this part of the forum
(and if you find something that is not yet in the wiki, feel free to place it there!)

I did search. I've been using forums before the internet was about. I noticed that the ROM that I have isn't mentioned. Then I noticed that someone has what looks to be an even newer one.
It's why I know the wiki is old, but hey what do I know I'm just a noob!

No use to start a new thread when there are already plenty about the exact same question, and on main page.
Beside, answer is: there is no reliable WM2005 for this model, and there probably will never be.

[Q] Newbie? Where do I begin

My gtablet is on its way to me. Where do I go in this forum to find out how to upgrade the OS (which is what I have read that I need to do to make the gtablet really enjoyable). I will probably need step by step instructions. Thanks!
I'm new, too, but I'll tell you, this was a great post to start with:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
One of the tricky parts will be to pick which ROM you want to use. There's no correct answer, there. Look through the developer's forum and pick one that strikes your fancy. Vegan and TNTLite are both very popular. I'm running tjohnsonjr's Gingerbread with Honeycomb elements in it - one nice thing with that is that I've had none of the market problems I've heard others complain about. There are a lot of other options, including a test version of the popular CyanoMod 7 (the Gingerbread release) with a lot of honeycomb elements especially for tablets.
How to Install a New ROM
Is there someplace that gives you step-by-step instructions on how to install a new ROM?
Thanks

Did you even click the link that Chadness provided or are you just trying to get your post count up? If you want to flash a new ROM then you should start with that link.

These are the best darn instructions I've seen:

Your question was answered. Check the link provided.
Several suggestions.
Read up on the available ROMS before you make your choice They all have advantages and disadvantages.
Pick a ROM. Pick one that has been around for a while and is stable for your first time. Don,t pick prototype roms. Get comfortable with it before changing. If you want to try multiple ROMS. LEARN NVFLASH fisrt.
Print out the instructions and add check boxes to each step. The follow them carefully and be patient. Some of the reboots after flashing can take a while.

I did click the link and the statement about me trying to get my post count up is ridiculous and I really don't appreciate it.
I am new to this forum and looking for help. If you don't want to help me that is fine as others have responded in a kinder fashion.

[Q] Recovery Partition?

Hi all, oddly, I can't seem to find a clear answer to this from searching and Google. Does the SII have a separate recovery partition? I see chainfire has created a customised CWM to be deployed with his kernel, but I was puzzled by this as coming from a HTC world, I was wondering how CWM backups up the ROM partitions (or more importantly restores them) if they are in use.
TIA

no one?
I would also like to know how this works. Coming from 3 previous HTC phones and buying a SGS2 tomorrow, I wouldn't mind finding out how to root, nandroid and flash correctly.
I know all about Odin already.
Is this the only way?

Then why not read the guides in the development section? step by step guides.
There is also a search function in these forums.
Not being rude, but you are asking to be spoonfed when there are good, well written proven guides to all your questions.

I take it this was a reply to MrBadgerMilk's question? I've looked at the FAQ in the dev section and used search and can't see the answer to the question of whether the SII has a separate recovery partition. Hopefully the people that know (and some will) could just post a yes or no.
Right... http://bit.ly/SGS2answer
Now that's over, no, the SGS2 doesn't have a separate recovery partition. The zImage contains the recovery binary, and another init script is run, when recovery is to be entered, from the standard zImage.
Now that was the answer I was looking for. Thank you very much.
EDIT: Is the video some Samsung secret initiation ritual thing?

Sorry for acting like a total noob. I did a search, but because of the crappy network that orange is, I couldn't ever stay connected long enough to actually get to the results of the search. Now I finally have my sgs 2 on 3 and it's like a breath if fresh air. Sorry again.I can now search without sounding like a noob

Tbh, I think i came off as a bit of a plank. If you keep an eye out for chainfire 'Root/kernel' threads in the dev section you can go far wrong.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399for root/clockwork mod recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 for step by step guide on how to flash via Odin, and the official roms. I've had the sgs2 for a month now, and after trying the (now deceased) angelom rom, and litening rom, I went back to stock KE7. and tbh, it feels just as quick as the 'customs'. The only thing I would advise is to remove(or freeze) the samsung bloat by using titanium backup. There is another thread somewhere with a list of things you can remove without affecting functionality.

is there any possibility to keep it rooted?
i know, anywhere in this forum will be an answer to every of that questions, but i don't think i'm the only one who doesn't find it / is not sure about this informations.
So maybe someone could post it here? Just short but/and understandable with links?

Well,
theresn't such information in the way you want, but you can start from page five on the thread I posted before.
It's the latest leak link and following issues/rooting/updating.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1621014&highlight=%28gsm%29+all+about&page=5
I had stop recommending this leak since many bricked their phones trying to use it.
I'm waiting for the official build to upgrade mine. I'm stock GB 2.3.6 now. This may be helpfull in a near future.
In fact, there was a topic "(GSM) All about ICS leaks" but itsn't in forum anymore. Couldn't find it.
Hope you figure out, following the thread I pointed and make a nice tutorial when you done.
Cheers
Edit: There's also this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688241&highlight=672+180+17

This (AT&T M8) section has grown somewhat quiet. But I do try to visit on a regular basis, and help folks.
I see you made a couple posts asking for stock nandroids, which aren't commonly posted for AT&T, since RUUs are readily available. I don't have a source for the ATT stock nandroids, so I therefore did not respond to those posts.
You also posted to XDA Assist about an RUU issue, but when mod asked what device, you never responded.
No bro,
Cause I figured out that cause was didn't installed vcredist 2008
Also it's sad to hear that there aren't active stock nandroid for cws_001 ul_ca
But thanks I've got ruu from above link

Then I would kindly make the following suggestions:
- If someone takes the time to respond to your post, and asks you a question (for info you should have provided in the first place), you should answer; even if you already found the solution.
- If you solved the issue, mark the thread SOLVED so folks don't waste their time trying to help you.
- Post the solution you used, so others with the same issue can read it and benefit.
