External flash - Touch HD Accessories

I really want this phone but HTC has held the camera flash back, limiting the usefulness of that 5mp cam. So looking for a solution I found this http://www.phonephlash.com/meet.html. Anyone tried it?

I haven't tried this one, but I know that it will work because I've taken a photo with my Trinity and had a friend fire his flash at the same time and the picture was fine, without the flash it was impossible.

I did a USB cable with 3 Leds connected in one end... if you plug in that to the USB port of the HD with a convertor will light like the Sun.
This is a example with just one led:
http://www.siliconchip.com.au/cms/A_30612/article.html
It did it with 3 leds but I can't find the web page with the instructions I follow.

Thank you! Great alternative!

in all frankness, i find it quite silly to use a 1000USD device to power an LED....why not using a battery?

Because I must carry with the X7500... so... should I carry a battery too? What for? I'm carrying the PDA plus the cable with the LED... that's all.

The whole thing seems to be a bit embrarasing, there you are using a US$ 1000 handset, with a USB LED hanging from the bottom, for me it'd look like a alien prostate examination tool, The Phlash seems to be a better idea.

pitty there isnt some plug and go little boc with one or thee leds.
but thanks anyway

[Q] Cigarette lighter mount for RHOD210

Has anyone come across a cigarette lighter mount for the GSM TP2 that will also charge the device? It has to be for the GSM version as the CDMA ones have their usb port mounted slightly to the left of center where the GSM versions are mounted.
I found two different ones so far. One is a universal one made by Arkon and seems to be less sturdy than it should be. It has a pass-through 12v port to plug in a charger to it. It only concerns me that the way it is made, it seems to not be sturdy enough based on the reviews.
The other one is made by iGrip and is pretty nice. It is made for the TP2, but it has no power option at all. If this would have a charging port on it, it would be perfect.
Anyone else seen any other options?
here in the netherlands you can buy them and they support paypal if im correct

I use this: http://www.bracketron.com/products/universal-usb-power-dock
I got it from Radio Shack with a 1 year warranty just in case. I did have it break on me but that's because I wasn't using it right. I was within the 30 day return period so i returned it an got a new one. If you do get it make sure you press the red button when adjusting the angle. I would still recommend ti since it has everything I was looking for. I doubt you'll be able to have the keyboard open, but why would you need it open while driving?

I'm still searching for something similar. I like that one, I'm just worried about having the charging cable hanging out of it. The plug only needs to be a standard USB plug. I would imagine there would be another phone or device that would require something of this sort. Also, I don't need the keyboard open while using this.

Yea that's what I initially wanted when I set out my search but ended up settling for this. My apologizes on accusing you of wanting to use the keyboard while driving. After re-reading your op I didn't see that mentioned like I thought I did before. For charging my phone I use one of these pretty good quality and it comes with a micro usb adapter which i liked since a lot of newer phones are using this. Best wishes on your search!!

Hmmmm..... That combined with the universal mount you posted might actually work nicely. I was concerned about my current HTC car charger as it has a rather long cord. This would likely eliminate that mess. I'll give it a shot. Thanks.
Anyone know where I could find a short miniUSB to USB cable. Something like 2" or so would be fine. This might be able to complete the homebrew mount I'm working on.
Short USB Cable
Amazon.com has a 1ft cable (can't post links yet) and 3 ft cables, although I haven't seen any 2ft cables. If you need 2ft you could pick up a gender changer (also available on amazon) and link two 1ft cables together.

Question: Other users have said that you can charge from USB, but it charges slowly and it depends if the USB has enough power supplied to it. Have you tried a powered USB slot?

It works charging from usb connected to a car charger or wall charger but not from any ports on my laptop and I really am saying any general user will not have access to something like a high output USB port on their computer. so...yes, I've tried, no it wont work.
Trust me, when it comes to this device, I know a lot lol.

I'm curious now if my custom built desktop has a high output USB port. I'll have to check the specs on my motherboard when I get home.
Ha...
I just posted in the other thread about charging with USB.
Anyways, I've had success charging through a laptop and PC with the NT powered off (screen off maybe enough).
Tested! went to sleep with 25% and woke up to 100% connected to a laptop that was powered on all night, with the NT powered off completely.

If USB charging is anything like the NC I recall discussion about the power output of USB being too low to really charge with gusto. Dunno if this translate to the NC but wouldn't be surprised. Overnight with the NT off? Sounds possible.

Thanks for all that you've done for the NT! You've turned a POS into something pretty great!
One point of constructive criticism that I see with a lot of videos:
If you have the ability to mount your camcorder on a tripod or something else so that it isn't moving around, and it keeps both hands free, and the video much more smooth.

Maybe try setting it up behind you somewhere and figure out the field of view with it zoomed in some. Like on another table or something else a little higher. Prop it up and get the angle right and once you figure out the field of view and the correct zoom, it will accomplish the same thing.

i heard that ever since the first ipad came out, apple gave more power to the usb ports so that you could charge the ipads on them as they also require more power than a standard usb port

ok and the cable that you have circled, the tip of that goes to the touchscreen/digitizer. you said it yourself, "my touch screen is not work......" That's a clear indication that you should look at threads about the digitizer. What are people doing? They are replacing the digitizer and/or the cable. So what's the problem? Go buy a replacement cable. Why did you create a thread when you already know what your problem is, what the effect of the problem is, have a handful of threads discussing your problem already in existence that you refused to/were too lazy to read/go look for, and have various sites such as ebay at your disposal to fix your problem?

You don't know that. It might look like it but I'm sure it actually isn't.
What is the point on having that many pins where all of them connect to GND?
If that piece had no function, they wouldn't even put it in, don't you think?

Galaxy Player 5.0 dead

I got some old Galaxy Player 5.0 model yp-gb70cw from my friend, and it's not turning On at all. I tried all kind of button combinations after phone was chargered for 3 hours (while charging there were no light indicator that it's getting any power). I even open him up and disconnect the battery and hold power button for minute and reconnect battery but still no life in that phone. Anyone got any idea what can problem be or what to do, I was planning to buy that micro usb jig, maybe that could bring him alive...
Anyone ?
A similar thing happened to my son's player a few months ago. He got an old 500mA usb charger, connected his player with the samsung cord and let it charge overnight. In the morning the player appeared dead. However, he unplugged the charger and held the power button for a few seconds and his player came back to life.

I've got nothing else. That worked for my son. My player 5.0 has been working fine, but it gets used almost every day.

the usb jig may be worth a try, or you could try the jtag but other than that it may just be a dead player.
read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000175
I found out that phone was working normal and teacher took it from a kid in class and shut it down, after that he can't power On anymore. Phone was not bricked I doubt that JTAG would work I mean JTAG is for unbricking device, right ?

My first question would be: Does the device really fail to boot or is the graphics chip broken, meaning that it boots but doesn't produce any output?
Since a player doesn't have any spinning parts which make noise as soon as you turn it on, it's hard to tell the difference. Can you connect it to a Linux computer and see what the kernel reports it sees? (journalctl -f or dmesg)

In principle, any distro should work, it's just about how to capture the kernel messages. You get part of it via the dmesg command, which you can issue in a terminal but to get the full picture, you have to read the system log, which is either by having a traditional syslog server running, like syslog-ng or rsyslog, or using systemd's log utility journalctl. Here, the easiest way of following the messages is by issuing the command "journalctl -f" in a terminal. Ultimately it really depends what logging facility the live distro offers.

I have two 5.0 players that the usb port no longer works for anything. They do not charge, nor do they recognise any charger or computer.
I would say open it back up and use a multimeter/voltmeter and check the battery to see if it has any kind of charge. Chances are it does not due to a bad usb port by the sounds. If it's not taking a charge it's not going to do anything. Do the battery check and maybe I can help you from there if your willing to frankenstien your player.
By the way I still use both my 5.0 players all the time. Just had to rig them up so they could take a charge. Thay still work fine aside from not having usb capabilites.

the plastic tab that holds the battery pulls straight up. Use a fine tiped multimeter set on DC voltage and touch the probes to the two outer pins of the battery. If your multimeter is digital you will get a reading even if positive and negative are wrong, it will just read in the negative if backwards. If your meter is old school needle and you have the poles swapped you will see the needle go backwards, in which case just reverse the probes. This is all provided there is at least a small charge remaining in the battery. Positive wires are usually red, negative usually black but can also be blue, green or brown. I will look for my photo's of the 5.0 innards a little later on tonight for you.
If I remember correctly you need more then 3.2 volts for your player to boot up if it's going to.
