Xperia on the Fuze - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

Hi, I have been in a constant debate with myself whether to get the Fuze(AT&T version of Raphael) or get an Xperia X1 when it comes out. However I have recently decided to go with the Fuze.
I was wondering is there anyway to take the 9 panel application on the X1 called Xperia and put it on the Fuze. I'm talking about keeping the original rom of the Fuze but adding this Xperia as an extra application? By saying "adding it as an application" I mean, I'm ok with flashing the rom, but I just want to be able to use the Fuze like how it is and access the Xperia at will. If you could have both without having to pick one or the other.
Surely this is possible since the fuze has a little bit better hardware and the Xperia software is made by HTC. Please let me know if this is at all possible, because I believe that would make the best phone, combining these two.
*Edit: Well, I have recently learned that the X1 had a ram update increasing it to 384mb, so I guess I'm going with it now. Still curious though if it would be possible to put xperia on the fuse?

9 panel application
Yes you can download the apllication 9 panel from the sony experia x1 to htc touch pro. I did it today. The application is downloable on wmpoweruser.com.
The name of the application is Dynamo 3.

While wmpoweruser is a great site =p you don't have to go that far...
Here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420220

thanks to both of you for responding, but I looked up both dynamo's you posted, 2 and 3. They are both not actually what I was looking for. I was more or less talking about extracting the actual xperia from the x1 and seeing if it could be applied to the Fuze. Reason for this is so the Fuze could run the xperia applications and so through the xperia panel window you could download more.
Like i posted earlier I decided to go with the xperia anyways, but it would still be cool for other people.

There's a reason they're giving the Xperia 384 MB of RAM, that panel setup is more of a memory hog than TF3D! Keep that in mind if you want to put it on the touch pro, it will run like hell and lag every time it rotates (even the Xperia lags when it rotates landscape to potrait in panel mode!)

Yeah I agree with you, but you mentioned that the xperia lags everytime it rotates...are you sure? Every video on the internet (including the one the designer has on the webcast under a month ago) is running off the original build of the xperia. The original build of it had 128mb. The designer even admitted that the one he is running (that lagged a good bit) is the one from march. In march it was definitely still 128mb. Seeing that it's had a 256mb update since then, I doubt it's gonna lag much. It has more ram than any phone I've heard of coming to the US, and 3 times the ram surely won't make it lag as near as much.
Even on youtube video which was uploaded on September 15th, which was when it still had 256mb and not the final rom barely lagged. You can notice a much bigger difference from all the other videos and this isn't even as fast as it is now.

How about this video of the Xperia being taken out of retail packaging, 4 days ago, and it lags when it rotates? Check it... Towards the end.

Yes I know exactly the one you're talking about. That is the one with sweeden or Russian language in the bottom left corner with red lining? That was actually posted over a month ago, just not on youtube until recently. I saw it when it was first posted i think near the beginning of September. The final phone still hasn't been viewed by the public because it was shipped out of the wear house on September 30th and it takes about a week for any of the stores to get it. Only the people working on the xperia x1 have the final release of the phone. We should start seeing the recent version, with the 128mb increase from that video and with the final/stable rom, in about 4 more days.
-edit: I just saw your link, sorry about that but yeah that was the one i was talking about. It also just got posted on youtube today. And the language is actually in Czech, but yeah that was still posted when it had 256mb.

I actually had no idea when they were releasing, my bad... I honestly didn't mean to be nit picking at words, I was just confused. I don't plan on buying the phone, so the release date to me isn't very important. If you find out if/when AT&T is getting a phone with Android, lemme know, but the Xperia can be tomorrow or January and it won't affect me.

[Q] Xperia X10 Mini - is it worth?

Hi everyone.
I'm just thinking about buying a Xperia X10 mini pro for my wife. I went to the store to check but the screen looks really small. I was reading some reviews on the web but ther're not conclusive and always done with a fresh device.
Can someone post a brief review on the following topics?
1. How's speed after a certain usage?
2. Is the screen a limiting factor for some, many or really most android apps?
3. Will froyo be avaliable on this one in future?
4. Top 5 pros and cons?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well i have the x10 mini for more than a month now and the speed is still very quick, very few lags. For the screen size and apps, i think there are a lot of available apps for the x10 mini's screen size, my only nag is that i can't access paid apps yet, not really the x10 mini's problem but the android market here in my country. With froyo I hope its coming but i dont think it'll be anytime soon since the eclair update will be coming only at the end of october
Top 5 pros
1. very pocket friendly
2. fast
3. nice ui
4. nice camera
5. not too expensive
Top 5 cons
1. only android 1.6 but i can't say that i'd benefit so much with the 2.1 update coz i can do everything i need to do with my x10 mini right now
2. battery life not great, mine can last up to two days sometimes though
3. its not amoled, its asking too much, but hey it would look great if it were amoled might make it slower though
ran out of cons ... well.. hope i helped even a bit
I can honestly say there are no cons except the battery life is not the best.
If you want a bigger screen dont buy a mini of course! lol
Big thanks my friends! It's for my wife. I think she will be ok with a smaller screen if the form factor is better than the "big male phones" as she says hehe.

thats what SE said, hopefully there'll be no further delays
Yep. I'm using it right now.
However, startup is very affected by application. There are alot of nasty app there which start as system starts, this lengthen my boot time. After that, it's just quick.
I think, it is the only Android device with best physical design. I know it has limitation with android version and screen size, but, it's worth the style, plus I'm not so enthusiast. So, it's so stylist.
For your information, I already rooted this device. So, should still be okay if you want to play with this device.
Very recommended.

This is SE we are talking about. They are worse than British Rail at delays: http://www.xperiax10.net/2010/10/01...e-november-plus-more-details-on-improvements/
PS: Sorry to give you a con, rather than a pro
Both of us have the pro version of this fone there a several pro and not many cons
Yes it has a small screen but it is a small device
We got the pro cause the keyboard makes it so much easier to type
About the only major con I can think of is the boot hasnt been cracked so we're stuck waiting for SE to realse an OS update. There are a few apps that wont work becuase they require 2.1 and wont run on 1.6

I dont really understand Sony's policy about software , you're creating a new phone which relaesed in feb 2012 and the most current software is ice cream sandwich and the phone comes with gingerbread , it sounds like you creating a high end notebook and it comes with vista ,
you sucks Sony , believe me I'm telling this just buying Xperia S a few hours ago .
even though u sucks , u dont destroy my feelings about sony

I totally get what you say, but you don't want to wait for ages to put an outdated but optimized OS on your phone? I hope for some BETA tester ROM release from Sony on Xperia S forum as well.
I'm not sure we have to wait all that much longer...
They said it can be end of March/early April, I would assume they would try and release it around then, or at least that beta you speak of. I don't think Sony wants to adopt SE's update reputation, so I would hope they would release it around when they said they will release it.
Jelly Bean is in the works, sure, but it's all down to rumors at the moment to when it will be actually released. If we are one update behind for awhile, I don't really care as long as it's optimized for the phone, and not some half-baked, rushed OS port.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/28/android-5-release-date-jelly-bean_n_1306952.html
I will say that coming from a Nexus S which was running CM9 (ICS), the interface Sony has put on top of Gingerbread does a great job. I thought I'd hate taking the step back but other than a few little bits, it's not that big of a difference. Things like the themed progress bars and buttons really remove some of the ugliness that GB still had.
Don't get me wrong, I am VERY excited about ICS on this device but I don't miss ICS as much as I thought I would. I can certainly hold on for a few weeks.

For the general public, beta roms with problems can cause much more damage reputation-wise (aka "this phone sucks, it crashes all the time lol").
Also, I like how Asus has pushed fast ICS releases for the Transformer, but it does not yet have the stability of the previous HC version. Picking up your tablet/phone for a 3 minutes read and seeing it reboot spontaneously is not that great
So I prefer Sony to be a bit late and get a good ICS release at the first try. And when it comes to the Arc/Arc S, we will know the XPS version will be close

What I would be suggesting is for them to work harder to hit the market at a right time with fully optimized upgrade. If they don't want loss of customer like what they did back in X10 time, they need to still work faster and base on 2011 model upgrade and what we saw, they are on a right track.

How many brands have upgraded their lineup to ICS so far "at a right time and fully optimized"? If Sony delivers an upgrade before end of Q2 they're still in a comparable time with other brands unless all the others suddenly deliver it in the following 1-2 months, because so far only Samsung (that is the biggest Android manufacturer at the moment) is barely pointing to an imminent SGS2 upgrade (based on rumors, not even officially yet).

Here's your choice.
1.Be the first that has ICS.
2.Wait 2 more months and get a fully optimised ICS, totally optimised for your phone. That probably runs better than a HTC or Samsung on ICS with the same specs.
btw ICS isn't a super drastic update or something, you're acting like it's the difference between Window 3.11 and Windows 7.

Htc have already released ics for their sensation phones, also alot of manufacturers would have phones released next month with ics onboard.
I'm not buying the Xperia S until the ics update comes out, it just doesn't feel right to spend $600+ aud on a high end phone that comes with a 1.5 yrs old os that my current phone is running. If ics doesn't come out by april. I'm buying a new phone from the other manufacturers which does have ics.

It is (probably more like xp to windows 7), just hw acceleration and support for the google chrome browser is reason enough for the upgrade.
ICS is the only reason I am upgrading from my n1
Well, thanks for all the comments up there ^^^.
I did the ICS upgrade that ZD did in arc board and have it on my arc and it was based on Vanilla ICS. I got the best battery and performance I have ever got on any android phone (owned 4 so far)
Second, optimization with Sony won't be there ever. While I agree there are lots of work with custom UI and setting and adding extra stuff that Sony does't with their on-top of OS thing, but if you pay attention, the OS on Xperia S 2.3.7 that should be optimized, its not even close to being optimized. Battery is like hell, I got rid of all the junk apps (bascially everything) and have nothing to run live, plus battery of this phone is bigger that arc (yes, screen is larger as well) but still not close even to arc.
I like to be optimist about this situation, but I was more hoping for a Beta version so maybe our beloved developers could make something out of it.
You guys don't worry, I won't be waiting for Sony to release its optimized ICS since I really don't care about the UI.
I hope I didn't go over board since we are all here to have fun.

You mean the Sensation ICS update officially released only in a couple of countries with bugs as idiot as links not opening in the browser?
If your priority is having ICS and Jelly Bean when released ASAP your only real option is a Nexus Galaxy. As of today Android is still a train wreck when it comes to OEM updates...
you people should look at SGSII forums.People are complaining about the rushed ICS official update.

[Q] Graphics smoothness issue

Hi guys,
I just bought my Xperia S two days ago outright and unlocked. ($484AUD from JB HI FI for you Aussies reading). My first smartphone was a Samsung Galaxy S back in 2010. I loved that phone - I flashed custom roms, customised the crap out of it, and all that. At the end of 2010, my company gave me an iPhone4 and I was required to use that exclusively - so I sold my Galaxy S on eBay. I've been using the iPhone4 ever since that point, but I missed my Android experience so much that I spent my money on the Xperia S just two days ago.
The reason I purchased the Xperia S is because I really dislike/despise Apple products, especially the iPhone.. Every time I looked at it I felt annoyed and disgusted by its lack of customisability and its lame user interface.
Having shared that with you, I'm having the following issue with the phone…
My graphics always seem to lag/chop/stutter when things are moving around. It's not fluid. This happens when:
• Swiping the lock icon to the right, on the homescreen. (it sorta micro-stutters at least once during the movement animation)
• When swiping through homescreens
• When scrolling up/down a menu (especially the settings menu in the browser).
• Scrolling or zooming in/out in the browser… its just not fluid at all, no matter how complex or basic the website is, flash or no flash.
It feels like CPU/GPU lag. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm pretty anal when it comes to seeing animations run smoothly so it's possible that it happens to all of you, but you just don’t perceive it or care about it -- or maybe its just my phone. I don’t know!
Also I notice that the touch responsiveness is delayed by about 100ms… Anyone else get that? (e.g. Load up the browser. Use your finger to swipe/scroll down the page, and see how there is a delay between when your finger moves and when the page moves.
I've read some people say that their browser runs "Buttery Smooth"… !! Mine is no where near smooth let buttery smooth!
I'm hoping that the coming ICS release will help with this issue, but I'm also surprised that I see no one else complaining about this graphics stuttering. I mean, my old Galaxy S in 2010 was smoother than this and it was only single-core at 1Ghz with 512 RAM.
Some technical details:
Batch: 12W19
Build: 6.0.A.3.73
I've uninstalled all the Sony bloatware that lets me uninstall.
I've tried without a live wallpaper
I've not tried any task killers.
I really like the quality of the screen and want to love the phone, but this speed/performance issue is really bumming me out ;/
So, do you 'xperience this too?
Thanks for your time,
Termus
Use it a few day and it'll stable than now! It's my experience with all Xperias like X10, Arc!
Or maybe try a factory reset and reboot the phone few times.

No mine is not, and I'm experiencing the same "all-around lag" that you see.
My device has locked bootloader (i'm waiting the ICS update to unlock it, especially coz I need to send it back to Sony due to the yellow tint display) and I hope ICS update will fix this horrible thing before the moment I'll choose to sell my device (really, I don't complain this things, coming from an early2011 SGS2).
PS. BTW I've got enough free ram to run everything smoothly, so it is not Sony-bloatware related.
Ok, while it's sad that you also experience this slowness it's good that someone else has 'fessed up to having it as well.
It makes me wonder... All of these devices are "made" the same, i.e. they have the same hardware. Why would some operate smoothly and others not? It's either that our devices are slow or the everyone else is in deep denial.
If the ICS update doesn't improve my handset's fluidity of graphics I'll probably sell it. I want my Android experience to be silky smooth, and if that's not possible yet, i'll just wait!

This. Or they come from really lagghish terminals so we could have different ideas of what "smooth" could mean, but generally 70% doesn't admit the thing they bought is not as good as they think.
Maybe because you came from an iPhone which has pretty smooth animations compared to some Android phones. My iPod Touch feels slightly smoother than my Xperia S, albeit the slower scrolling.
i kinda forgot bout the stock rom experience, but i surely remember there's no such thing as the lockscreen's slider lag and touch responsiveness is delayed (and 100 ms? really? do you, yourself, have some measurement devices or something?)
now im in doomkernel and ka05.2 sspeed and all the things that u mentioned didnt happened. well, i maybe come from very-very-very-slow phone (LG GT540), but even my friend who has iphone 4s for awhile said that the animations and the smoothness in my phone (XS, ofc) is really smooth, almost the same as his iphone. even with some widgets here and there (his iphone doesnt have widgets, well duh!) and i feel the same too (but what do i know right?)
and he even likes it better browsing with phone rather than his iphone. though i gotta admit than i use the stock browser rarely, i usually use opera mini because of my crappy mobile network's speed. but they both works really well and smooth (pinching, zooming, scrolling)
but though i agree that smoothness is something that cant be measured, it's really objective thing, and maybe my friend just said that because of his kindness to not insult me or something, idk and i dont really care, for me it's just as smooth as his iphone.
so my verdict: your stock rom has issues (though most unlikely), the custom rom has some kind improvement (well ofc, but to have even lag in lockscreen it's kinda really bad for stock rom), there are some apps that make that lags in your rom, or you have faulty phone, you came from the future where everything is at light speed.
do u see the ics leaked video for XS? and how bout your gaming 'xperience?
Try installing MyPhoneExplorer on the phone and let the MyPhoneExplorer PC client monitor the cpu usage in realtime.
so when the lag happend, look at the pc monitor. does the cpu usage spike to 100%?

But not for the UK? Has release as USA :'(
No Australia?
The last time Sony VAIO released an Android update, American got it, then a few months later, so did Europe - that was Release 5 for the Sony Tablet.
However, seeing as though that is just a USA forum, in the past, ALL Xperia Tablet S updates have been released at the same time.
Eagerly awaiting the release notes. Mobile Bravia Engine, please!
I'm pretty sure that it will be a global release, we will have to wait till afternoon tomorrow here in europe!

Always has been with this Tablet.
I expect he's just saying that as he is a rep for the US.
Project Butter at last. The main thing (other than the random shutdowns) that bugs me about ICS is the 30fps animations.
60fps here we come...welcome to 2013!!! Fingers crossed for a European/UK launch!
Even if its not a UK release just yet, I'm interested to see if its different or whether they've included the new Sony Mobile launcher. Given this is 4.1.1 after all....
I was hoping for a new feature from Sony here.

Ooooh, interesting - not tempted by the boost in screen res/features? Or just not that fussed about shelling out £400+ within 7/8 months? Will just need to wait and see. My XTS is destined for the graveyard anyway so this will just make its passage to the next life a little more...buttery.
I do enjoy using this device, nice screen size, good processor, so if the JB release doesn't differ much to the Xperia Tablet Z, then not much point upgrading!
Besides which, the XTZ is still over a month away!
Something tells me though that Jellybean won't arrive here for quite sometime...(UK)

Fair enough then, makes sense! I am still fingers crossed for the Jelly Bean launch today but, as you say, not holding out that much hope. Since using Nova Launcher I get far fewer shutdowns etc anyway so not too fussed.
OT: What car did you get??
Who knows that if there is a 4.1 update for the sony tablet S?
I think the users of sony tablet S are forgotten.....

Sony have already announced that the original Tablet S will not be getting upgraded to Jelly Bean I am afraid.
Let's hope the post doesn't get deleted this time

Sony's not even released the release notes yet. If we don't get the update soon in the UK, at least give us the release notes!
There's no word on Sony GB's pages.
But saying that, USA hasn't 'properly' woken up yet lol

It will come out today in Portugal as they've updated the info on Sony update site. http://www.sony.pt/support/pt/product/sgpt121e1_s
Procedimento de actualização do software | 18 /04 / 2013 (Procedure of software update)
Actualização de sistema Android 4.1.1 Actualizar já (Upgrade of Android system 4.1.1 - Upgrade now)
Even tough, the link isn't working and the System update on the tablet isn't allowing to update as it says that the System is updated. It will only be a matter of hours I suppose!
Why 4.1.1 though?
Sony VAIO always seem to be one iteration behind a release. 4.0.3 instead of 4.0.4, I was looking forward to the single gesture notifications.
Not alot of new features really, certainly when you consider it has supposed to have been in development since last September. No Mobile Bravia Engine which is a shame.
DLNA Function? I thought this had DLNA?
I don't know. I stopped trying to understand them since I think they don't really know what they're doing. Nevertheless, the changelog seems a little bit narrow and is only available on GB site (Portuguese and French sites haven't) so I hope the performance enhancements have a little bit more to add to it. Are you able to download it? I'm not.

Can't download as of yet, no.
A few users in Japan on XperiaBlog report having the update. They've commented on the JB XTS thread.
Hope they've done some work on the front end UI.

I'm not happy :(

I used a Z3 Compact and it was the best phone I ever had. But the same problem as with ALL Sony devices I ever owned came around: the headphone jack stopped functioning correctly. So I passed it to my partner and bought an unlocked Z5 Compact. And it's SLOWER.
I thought that 2 GB RAM would make it a beast, same as Z3 Compact. It didn't, and it was explained to me in another thread that it's because of the 64-bit architecture rather than 32-bit. I feel kinda cheated to be honest. Last thing I expected is for the new model to be slower. It keeps getting rid of background apps – if I switch to Chrome with a few tabs open, then Spotify, then back to Kindle, it takes up to 10 seconds to reload the book I was reading. This never happened in Z3 Compact. Not once.
I disabled all bloat I could. Running latest MM. Does anybody have any hints how to speed it up?

Dont have this problem on my z5c and think MM made it that much better but this will be my last sony phone for a while because sony just sucks ass on the software side.

I didn't use z3c,but there is a number of Chinese Android fans who are always think highly of MM.
Well 64-bit code uses more RAM than 32-bit code. Can be upwards 2x the RAM amount IIRC.

I've tried three different Sony phones over the years, all with software bugs. I've never had a Samsung or HTC that had bugs in official firmware, it's just crazy.

Well just checking other phones XDA sections shows you must have had HTC or Samsung phones when the software already was patched and mature.

If that were the case how many more firmware updates does Sony need to try before they can get it right? We're on #4?
If the headphone jack stopped working, could you not get a warranty repair? I did

I could, of course, but my partner said "I don't mind, I'll take it" so I went and bought an unlocked Z5C thinking "yay, I'll have an even faster phone with fingerprint reader!". So now sending Z3C for repair means one of us will be without a phone for two weeks. I'm very tempted to sell the Z5C and buy a S7 – I figured out if I use a black marker on the logo and then put a protective glass on it I can tell people it's not Samsung.

64 bit RAM dynamic management is much much mature than on a 32 bit. Can be upwards 2x the RAM amount IIRC for sure, though snapdragon 810 processes and manages ram much more efficient than if it was on a 32 bit platform actually. Yes the ram may seem to always be sitting around 70-80% but this doesn't mean it will struggle due to small ram GB, it actually maximizes the 2GB efficiently regardless of whats left, it will always be around 70% regardless of the amount of APPS you have running in the background.
Of course, it won't always be intelligent in maximizing the RAM properly all the time, but that has mostly due to the OS unfortunatly
Frankly I don't know how the memory is managed, but it's worse than Z3C and that's not what I expected...
Android OS takes 800+ MB in Memory tab in Settings –*is that normal?
Maybe I just have to wait for the fully operational CyanogenMod port...

64-bit code still needs more space in RAM than 32-bit code for same function. You are looking at upwards 50% more RAM usage.

Just flash back 5.1.1 and fixed. The Sony MM got memory management problem, I've been roll back lollipop for a long time mainly because of this issue. If you read the Z3/Z3c board, many reports they got memory issue after up to MM and this affected our Z3c/Z5c very much bcoz we've got only 2GB ram. Z3/Z5 a lot better bcoz of 3GB ram.
5.1.1 has more issues than Vogue though... I do have a feeling the phone was faster on it though. Damn.
From people's experience – if I factory reset and do a clean install, does Android OS still occupy 800+ MB?
I am using the latest Firmware which was flashed via flashtool with a cleanwipe of everything and freshly formatted class 10 SD card. Since MM the phone runs very very fast, stable and there is almost no noticable lag switching between apps and in normal usage. Ive then uninstalled and deactivated any app I dont need or use. Also quite a few system apps. After manually closing all the apps and also after a reboot I have 900mb of RAM used up by the system. This is quite a lot, but I havent run into any bottlenecks because of this. So, in the end, I really cant complain and I am overall very happy with the stable high speed and battery life this phone delivers.

Yes, it will and is normal from what I've seen. I did a clean install with flashtool, and at the moment, Android OS is using about 900 MB RAM. I haven't noticed any issues like you have, but I don't multitask very often either.

Just roll back 5.1.1 believe me.... It's true that MM more smoother and less heat generated but during heavy multi-tasking(like you playing around with Chrome which I believe you actually need a 4GB phone) it got some memory management bug. For light to medium usage user, they should not experience this issue so it won't appear to all user.
I did a factory reset and redownloaded all apps and backups. SO FAR it seems better –*Kindle no longer reloads just because I switched to Chrome for a minute. I'll see how the phone copes in a week.
I'm using Safari on my Mac, but of course there's no Safari for Android... is Firefox better with memory management? MM did fix a lot of 5.1.1 errors (like the brightness bug which was driving me batty). I looked at 6.0.1 (for other phones) and it looks like the most important feature is more emojis. Yaaas, I can't possibly live without more emojis Come on Sony, I know you're all moist about the X series, but at the moment Z5 is STILL your flagship phone.

the reason i didnt bought Z5 , (i bought z5c) is screen size) but 2GB it really little.. one of the reason i dont upgrade yet
its weird cuz i had old sony device with 512MB ram and it work fine with MM, it was 32bit and maybe more optimized
