Question for the ROM testers on the board - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

Let me start out by saying thank you to everyone that contributes to this board...from the big ROM projects, down to the small Registry tweaks. i haven't taken time in my life to learn the scripting languages of the WM devices. i hope as my kids get older, I can start to master it the way I have in Windows and HTML. In the mean time, I have determined it is time to get off the stock ROM, and go cooked.
I know several people have tested the two big ROM releases for the TP. I ultimately want to be on the one from the Elite Team, simply because I donated. In the mean time, I want to see which ROM suits me best. Again, I am not asking which is better. Both are fantastic simply because I have heard great feedback on both threads.
Here is what I use my device for, so help me select the best ROM for my needs between the ROMeOS or DCS. Needs are as follows, but not in order of priority:
1. stable phone, which includes stable ringing, ability to threeway, and a guaranteed response to the Mute button
2. Email, pulled hourly on my EDGE network. this is very important that I have no issues with email (more than the stock ROM already has)
3. Stock weather tab and contents for 5 cities (as available in stock ROM)
4. Contact tab, calendar tab, program tab, and SMS tab with little to no changes
5. RSS feed
6. Google Maps with GPS
7. Strong WiFi and BlueTooth connectivity (for home internet use, hands free, and BT sync with ActiveSync)
Overall, I use this phone to keep in touch with my wife, kids, and work associates via phone, texting, and email. Entertainment is limited to Internet use (for E*Trade and YouTube). I have music and three compressed DVDs on my MicroSD, but listen/watch maybe 30 mins a week if that (unless business has me traveling). I enjoy the TF3D, and want to keep it. Stability is more important than anything, especially for my Alarms and Reminders. Games and what not mean nothing to me.
I am not out to start a battle of who's ROM is better, just don't have time to test between the two. I want to load, and customize on Sunday so I can be back to work at 100% on Monday. I know this phone is the most amazing phone I have ever owned, but know it is capable of so much more. this thread is to determine which chef baked the best ROM for my needs.
Thanks in advance to all ROM testers, and everyone that contributed as chefs.

forgot something, battery life too!

another useless topic!
just try both roms and keep the one you like/fits your needs the most!

I agree with Xtreme XL.
You can flash both ROMs, and test to see which one suits you best.
I've used both (ROMeOS and DCS) and they are both really good.
Now I'm using ROMeOS, but others prefer DCS.
For example:
I don't use TouchFlo3D, no 3G or HSDPA, almost never GPS, lot of WiFi, almost no Bluetooth, no Google Maps.......
So, my needs are totally different then yours, so maybe ROMeOS is better for me, while DCS should fit your needs better.

yeah battery if uu throw away the tf3d can get double battery time tf3d keep the 3d running at all the time "good for the battery life" make it half.....

i have only seen a couple available but am interested in this as well. Especially the Fuze rom.

It's unlikely you'll get an answer to that without telling for what country/network... That is unless you don't use it as a phone
I'm looking for a ROM that is fast in performance and also ROMs that are good on battery life.
Any suggestions?
Currently, I'm using NATF's 2.3 ROM, so this one is pretty early. I don't like to flash ROMs too often, because I have to get in there and load in the files that my phone previously had and I find that to be a pain...right now,
id also like to know your guys's opinions too. i posted this same kind of thread last week and it got shut down by one of the mods... its ok though.
like im having a hard time finding one i want, that has good features+quality+speed and whatnot..
you guys know what i mean?
You can flash a rom pretty fast. I have test most of the roms but what i want and like in a rom may be different then what you want and like. Try all of them and see what you like.
Man you are gonna get so many different answers. It's really up to your preference. Try a few and see what suits you, use PIM Backup or Spb Backup so you don't lose anything. I flash ROMs later at night when I usually don't get much coming into my phone during the few minutes of down time.
The reason we are quick to close "whats the best xxxx" threads is because it usually depends on an individuals opinion on the "best xxxx".
As with most threads of this nature it usually ends up in a poorly backed up argument over a few users who wont back down from the argument.
I'll leave this open for now but should this thread fall into that situation its gonna be locked.

can we have a post just a pool which is your favorite ROM, without any comment or reply?
I've tried almost all the ROM here, and still very intrigued on knowing which ROM is the most used. Also it would help other to give other ROM a chance.
The correct answer is : there is no best ROM.
Or if there is, no one has ever seen it yet. (And it is a build of WinMo7)
Each rom is customized to however the chef desires. That could match your desires exactly, it could not. This, combined with the individual skill and dedication of the amazing chefs to work out bugs, maximize tweaks and release updates, is what makes up if a rom is good or not.
It is your own self who defines good, however.
In terms of battery life:
You will find it will vary a little from rom to rom, naked and manila-free roms usually outperforming the rest. However, if you are truly looking for performance differences, try out a few different radios. Those have an actual large bearing on signal stregnth and battery life.
What roms have I used:
Quick history
Stock ATT Fuze rom + Reg tweaks + manila tweaks - (1-2 days)
ROMeOS (1-2 weeks)
Elite RC2 (1 month)
RRE (2-3 weeks)
ROMeOS (1-2 days)
I dont give version numbers since I choose a rom track and stick with it through the updates. Meaning I flashed all the updated versions to ROMeOS until switchted to RC2, then I did the same thing with RRE. Made it kind of difficult when it was jumping 4.x seemingly daily
Either way, they all performed great, just better in certain areas. Currently I am very happy with the current ROMeOS rom. However, I am eyeballing RC3 and actually considering testing out a few things on the stock att rom once again.
My input!
Well, I’ll take a stab at this. Sounds like you’re in the boat I was in just a few weeks ago, so I’ll try and give as unbiased opinion about the ROM I choose as possible. Because let’s be honest here, there is NO BEST ROM. From what I can tell, all the ROMs in XDA are well though out, and clearly have a lot of hard work invested in them, typically by freelance developers. So they definitely deserve a “Tip of the Hat” as far as all their hard work is concerned.
I actually started out knowing little to nothing about ROM flashing. So naturally I started at Flashing your First GSM Raphael Rom thanks mskip! I was fortunate enough to have had a friend that flashed his Tilt and explained to me the joys of flashing a non-stock ROM to clear up all the bloat ware that’s normally shipped with them. I had a lot of time between when I had ordered my Fuze and receiving it, so that gave me an edge in researching what I though was going to be the best ROM for me ( operative word here, ME ). Because as mrvanx pointed it, the “best” ROM is purely subjective based on the user.
I looked at pretty much all the most heavily posted on/used forums. Read what people had to say about the ROM, the problems they were experiencing, the pro/cons and overall just tried to get the best gist of what people thought about the ROM’s performance.
I looked at Lantis, NATF V4, PROven, Elite RC2 ( also RC3 ), ROMeOS^2, Da_G Clean, DCS-TouchPro-v15, TouchXperience (not yet released) and finally T.i.R. v10 R + P.D.M. 4.1. There’s many others that I’ve not mentioned, not because their any less worthy but because I just didn’t run across them in my search.
Let me say this off the bat. ALL of the above listed were in my opinion amazing looking ROMs. There were things I liked about all of them, and also things that concerned me as far as some of the problems that people were experiencing with them. That said, I realize ( as should everyone ) there will always be problems with the ROM you choose. Even the stock ROM that AT&T subjects you too is going to have problems.
What was I looking for in a ROM? User ability, overall speed and response of TF3D, the programs installed/removed from stock and the look and feel of the TF interface. I was also looking for which ROM I felt had still retained all the functions of the stock ROM with out the added useless software. PPT for instance, I didn’t need, so why would I want a ROM that has it installed, using vital memory when I’m never going to use it?
In the end, I chose T.i.R. v10? Why? The reason may surprise you, because it was blue. Yeah, I know, it’s a dumb reason, but hey, that’s my reason; well at least it’s what initially attracted me. But additionally, it encompassed what the other ROMs had as far as TF3D was concerned, used a minimum amount of memory ( not the best utilization mind you, look to Da_G Clean build for that ). Still retained functions like the FM radio, Quick GSP, Opera 9.5, easy task manager, youtube, ZIP, Labyrinth ( what? The game is addicting! ), G-Sensor Calib, enhanced Camera functions and etcetera. But overall, what I liked the most was the look and feel of TF3D in blue and the new icons.
It really was a toss up between T.i.R., Lantis and PROven. They all had features I liked, but like I said, T.i.R. was a little more unique in it’s graphics. Is T.i.R. the best? No, like I said, what’s best for one, is not going to be best for another. But I like it, and I’m resilient to flash something else at the moment because nothings broke yet, so no need to fix it! Overall, the T.i.R. team did a great job with the visuals and keeping TF3D fast. Clearly faster then the stock ROM, and far cleaner as far as third apps are concerned. It did not have a slid to answer feature, but I found a separate CAB file for that.
Overall, they’re all going to have their strong points and weak points and it’s all a matter of what you find most appealing and how you use your phone on a daily basis. Something’s you may find essential may be features like slide to answer and the in call guard screen. And obviously the keyboard fix if you’re a Fuze user.
I hope that give you, and others, a little insight about what to look for and how to choose. Research, flash and try it. If it doesn’t fit flash something else. Hopefully others join in with what they’ve experienced in flashing. What they like and dislike. (^_^) Bare in mind, the more feed back we leave, the better.
yup, Plazma pretty much covered all the bases!
1 thing that wasn't mentioned is that some ROMS contain some programs that others don't. But people here are more than welcome to supply you with a .cab that will take care of that for you.
Hands Down SSK 1.5 his rom runs smoother and is more stable than any other rom i have flashed including Juicy 4.13, MightyRom4.13, Juggalo's Newest and many more. I know this is just my personal favorite you should try it!!!

look at 2nd post. has the new tp2 manilla also. pretty stable and smooth
Quite surprisingly I couldnt find a thread like this, though it is a very interesting one for newbies... I tested Proven Manila HD and Panosha Pro 1.0. I must admit that of the two Proven is better and overall reeeeally nice. Both in terms of graphics/icons and speed and addon apps. I wonder if there is any other ROM worth testing. I repeat: my criteria is:
a) speed
b) stability
c) nice and usefull apps but not too many
d) nice looking and working TF3D (can be HD or TP2).
Any ROM with known issues or bugs that cant be overcome and are important are not fit for me...
Any ROM candidates for testing then to challenge Proven?

Another vote for Energy 2.0 - this rom rocks - very fast and stable despite the new TF3d still not being totally ported.
I've been using Energy since I got my Fuze, the latest I have is 1.5, no tf3d, and my memory usage at boot is 150mb free. That is just amazing. I have been into pointui2, it seems to slow after awhile, and has some bugs, but is much prettier and more useful than tf3d. Once the community over at pointui.com gets into it, it may be the best homescreen plugin. On my tilt I used Gsmart touch, and loved it. I need to try a few others, but am a tweak hog and the least memory used normally wins for me.

Choosing a ROM

I want to prerequisite this post with the statement that I have read through the raphael wiki and the flash for newbs thread.
I've been a tweaker up till now (Kaiser tweak and now diamond tweak) and finally have gathered up the courage to flash a ROM on my fuze. Couple of quick questions:
First - I'm thinking NATF, any other suggestions on different ROMs and +/- of each? Which is most stable needing least tweaks? I'm on vacation right now and can afford to put in some time on this but once works starts again, 80+hr/weeks, won't have time to mess with this much.
Second - in general, once a ROM is flashed, does it need much work. that is, will I need to keep d/l new updates/tweaks and will it really become time intensive. As mentioned above, if it's going to suck up more time in the future, I might just want to stick with ATT bloat removed and a stock ROM?
Anything else I should know before I set forth??
thanks, I've learned tons from all of you guys/gals on this, fuzemobility, and ATT forums!
I've used NATF, ROMeOS and PROven ROMs. Each worked great for me. I would recommend you test each one to see which one meets your requirements or you like better... just a matter of preference as all 3 are pretty stable.
As for updates, normally there are not much updates unless there are some bugs or something not working as expected. Otherwise, the ROMs are stable enough to run for a while unless a new version comes out and you need the feature or added functionality.
The Fuze is fairly new and the cooks are busy making new ROMs so you may see a release every other day, every week, or once a month... who knows.
I definitely recommend you flash your device with something else instead of leaving the stock AT&T ROM. You'll like your device even more. Even if you don't have time to keep up with the latest release, a cooked ROM will be much better.
Good luck.
NATF for me. It performs the best on my FUZE and is very fast; it destroys the lag of the Stock ATT ROM. But in the end, you have to go with the one that works best for you and your needs.
i've been running RRE by Arupenthall and it has worked great for the last week.
It all depends. In my humble opinion, the level of sofistication goes like this: Da_G>NATF>RRE>ROMeOs>PROven
What I mean by sofistication is basicaly the level of existing softwares on the ROM and "again this is very user dependent" the speed. i exclude Da_G ROMs as they are Manilla ones "completely ripped of most 3rd party software including the TF3D interface" because they are the fastest ever and you can pretty much guess why.
Now if you're going to flash from an original, be prepared for some bugs. It's a "joy Ride" yes, but with some "issues' somewhere. It'll only depend on where you will get the issues and whether you can live with them.
My personal experience which I share with you is the following:
- Being an Egyptian, I did like the NATF ROM but it was too "AT&T" for me
- ROMeos is pretty good and stable but somethings that Monx sticks to in his Roms "which by the way is completely his right" did not appeal to me
- Da_G is super light, super fast but super empty and I use it only if I miss the good old days of my dead i-mate 2020
- RRE and PROven are very competitive and very good as well but I think the PROven one is more accomplished and the RRE is more "AT&T" friendly. These 2 are my favorite candidates right now.
- As for the ELITE one, I cannot give an opinion as I never tried one. In fact I never will until these wonderful ELITE people humble themselves and call their ROM with any other name that do not put them separated from the rest of the NORMAL Chefs who are doing a wonderful job FREE OF CHARGE to our XDA community.
(PLEASE BARE IN MIND THAT THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION WHICH COULD BE BIASED AND COULD BE ALSO WRONG, BUT IS CERTAINLY MY PERSONAL OPINION)
I've looked over the ROMs and the way i picked is just looking at the changelog and the screenshots. Some of them come with tons of stuff, some come with almost nothing. I like the more "nothing" OS so that i can add what i want to add (via CABs) and forget the rest. As a result i chose Da_G's ROM because it's similar to AT&T's minus all their stuff i wont use. I don't need the extra applications some of the others come with but other people out there love those things
Thanks for the input everyone, much appreciated. I guess I'll take a look at a couple of screen shots and go from there....
Great thread. We're not all experts and we haven't all flashed all the ROMs so this is a valuable resource.
Out of curiosity, is there a limit to how many times you can flash a Fuze?

I don't think there is a true physical limit but NATF in his podcast on fuzemobility said he went through 6 tilts in 13 months since he was flashing so often. he thought it might be related to the numerous flashes and the effect on memory (i'm no electrical engineer so I can't add anything to this statement).
For any new comers to flashing, I do suggest listening to the interview with NATF on fuzemobility about pros/cons and other background on the flash process. http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=768
I'm going to go forth and put on NATF so will keep everyone updated.
One quick question though, if flashing NATF, do I still need a radio or does NATF install a radio on his ROM?
Thanks.
never mind, i found the radio thread under raphael..thanks.
Great thread for us noobs

Best rom for Practical phone use?

What do you guys think is the best ROM for using the touch pro as it is intended to be first and foremost: a phone.
I'm looking for a rom with no hangups when you want to make a phone call, check a text message or send an email. I find that sometimes my phone hangs (quite badly actually) when I try to use the actual phone bit of my fuze. (IE: Tonight I got pulled over for having an unregistered tag, left the reg at home, tried to call my aunt to bring it to me to avoid having my car impounded and low and behold my phone call screen decides to hang for a good 2 minutes... Lucky the cop felt bad for my seemingly ****ty device and I got off with a warning... :\ )
Also, I find it a pain in the arse sometimes to check, reply to my texts on the go. More often than not the screen hangs for a few seconds between the different screens. I find this so much of an annoyance that I've almost stopped texting all together.
I'm using the RRE 6.5 rom at the moment but this is literally draining the life out of me. any suggestions?
Sounds like you treat your phone as I do ... mission critical device.
RRE's series ROM are great ROMs; a lot of attention goes into ensuring they run as hassle free as possible. That said, Windows Mobile 6.5 is still relatively new and there are some kinks that still need to be worked out.
You may want to look at using a feature lite Mobile 6.1 ROM for the time being. A good indicator of stability is when you see the frequency of kitchen/ROM releases slow down.
HTH,
Thanks for the reply, I'm beginning to think that its a 6.5 issue, but even more so a windows mobile issue... Which is a shame because i've always been a fan of the pc-on-the-go experience of wm as opposed to some proprietary OS by some nameless company for a very specific phone that supports nothing.
Maybe i'm just ranting
It depends on what you want in your ROM.
RRE v3 WM6.5 has been running great for me. There's been a v4 and v5, but I'm sticking with v3 for now since it has run great for me.
WM6.5 isn't for everyone though.
If you don't need TF3D (or don't mind installing it via cab), then look in the March 1st Leaked ATT ROM thread and look for the Da_G stripped version. This is plain WM6.1 with NO HTC stuff. Its as bare as you can get, but fast as hell and very stable. You can find cabs for the HTC stuff if you decide to use it.
+ 1 for NRG minus manila. once you take the manila out, the battery life is excellent....granted, i'm on 2.0 now but was pretty good when i ran 3 as well (switched back for 6.1)....
it's now 5 PM and been off charger since 7:30 AM and with a few phone calls and email twice/multiple texts, i've still got 75% left!!
agree with other member, if you want reliable rom, stick with 6.1. 6.5 has a lot of hiccups. But to each its own. My phone has failed me when I need the most but hey how many times does that happen.
install the new touch pro 6.1 official rom 5.11.xx.xx.xx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
i made my rom with just that in mind, making the touch pro a good phone first, and a good ppc second. it runs on 6.1 so no hiccups and i tested it extensively.
arrupenthal makes some good stable roms too :}
Why are we having this discussion AGAIN?! Oh yeah, because someone with only 4 posts doesn't want to spend an hour reading but wants to get quick answers to questions that have no easy quick answers.

He did the right thing. He started a new thread instead of clogging other threads with these questions. No one has to enter this. I've been monitoring this because I'm curious to see what people plug here. It's hard to find practical roms unless you read all 150 pages in each good rom's thread because everyone claims: "fast", "great", "best", "stable"... when they really aren't there yet. It's just that some roms aren't fully troubleshot yet. Some people here want to get their money's worth out of a phone they paid a lot of money for and don't want to devote the better part of a day (at the very least) to find something they'll only find a deal killing bug one month later after spending hours putting programs back on their phone after flashing (even after UC).
Sorry for opinion almost unrelated, but I don't post without some kind of contribution of my own:
I currently have been running RRE v3 and its a great rom, but it has some camera bugs with the auto rotate and wm6.5 has messaging uglies. It is by far my favorite performing rom, but the camera bugs. My phone, to me, has to be a phone, gps, camera and music player. I plan to go back to RRE the latest with the 6.1 rom no manila and put on chome. I'll let you know how it works out.
I hope this thread can be a place in which people can come to take a look at great performing roms and dl packages of optimizing software with little time spent reading through bugs and potential bug fixes. This in mind, I'll be on again tonight after hopefully fully testing what I hope to be my rom for about 6 months only reporting great or bad or good (with Quick fixes only).
Thanks to all the chefs for their time.

I disagree, all the information he wanted was easily accessible. There's no excuse for not taking some initiative instead of opening up yet another "Hey guyz! What's the best ROM out there for my <insert device name here>" thread.

With a win 6.1 and no manila, how looks your today screen? Do you have some kind of screenshot to show?
Thanks
(I'm using an energy 3 rom with win 6.5, and I like the titanium interface, I wonder what I'll use if I go back to 6.1)
I could say that I'm closing this thread out of spite (nobody plugs my ROM? )... but it's not the case. This type of thread is not permitted according to the rules of XDA-Developers.
Although it can seem like a daunting task, the best thing for the OP to do is read through a few ROM threads, the first few posts should suffice, for a list of features and a changelog. [Shameless Plug]. Lastly, check the date of the most recent release, and then jump to the posts from that date, going forward.

Raphael ROM recommendation for Med Student

Hey guys,
So I'm starting my 3rd year in medical school where I am finally entering the hospital. I bought my Fuze intially so I could use it as a PDA also while doing my rotations.
Since I got my Fuze, I've been trying out the various ROMs from the different chefs and I loved changing ROMs. However, because I will be in the hospital, I need a ROM I can count on that is stable and pretty fast. I don't want to get yelled at by the attending cause my phone crashed with a brand new experimental ROM. And I want to beat the iPhone geeks.
Do you guys have any recommendations of the ROMs we have all tried? WM 6.5 or 6.1 doesn't matter. Or should I just stick with the stock for stability purpose?
Also, I need longer battery life. My battery life used to be pretty good but now all of a sudden it drops precipitously. I might have to go with the extended battery route if I'm going to be in the hospital all day.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
I use Shep´s ROM, it runs stable, altough I would recommend Skyscape softs (especially for medical purposes), they are partly free for students, and nearly updated daily,
I'd say go for a stock rom, and then upgrade the radio for better battery performance, thats what i did after several upgrades
personally if you want the most stability i would use Da-g's roms they are stable but if you want to wow the ipod users and whoever else i would use nrg's rom or shep's they are very nice fast and stable with nice features i would suggest researching for a better radio it will help out battery life but its trial and error
I would use anything by NATF for rock solid performance. Unfortunately for now that means 6.1. But soon there will be a 6.5 release.
I am currently running the latest Da_G ROM. While it is good, I still have an occasional issue, usually just when I need the phone for a business function. If the new NATF 6.5 ROM does not come out soon, I may drop back to NATF 4.7. I will miss the scrolling in 6.5 as well as the titanium interface, but I too need a phone/PDA that I can count on.
Good luck with the attendings.

Roms
I personally would check out one of Mr. Makk's Roms they offer the 6.5 Rom feel with stability. I put the spb mobile shell skin on there and it works great and still offers the cool high tech feel that can be put up there with the IPhone Geeks, battery last me a full day with medium use.
Hey,
I'm also in medical school. I use the EnergyROM. It's fast, stable and does what I need.
However, for my medical applications, I actually use an iPod Touch. Lots of great softward for Eponyms, calculators, H&P, etc. Nice in a pinch when you forget what Ogilvie's syndrome or something like that is.
always nice to know that other med students are checking these pages too - too many of my classmates have iphones (boo)
i've been using energyrom 3 and it's been great - fast and stable w/ pretty good battery life too if you have a decent radio (stock should be fine but i'm using 1.14.25.35 - obviously this depends on location). word of caution - some people have reported that epocrates is not auto-updating (and thus have a hard time installing) but for some reason i haven't had this problem w/ mine. a soft reset should do the trick but i'm not really sure if this is still an issue.
anyway, good luck in rotations!
Nfsfan's rom.

Med Student Rom
I would use the new ATT 6.1 rom as your standard. Very solid and quite quick, and it includes the latest radio and is quite good with the battery. If you have a problem with a piece of software, you can be relatively assured it is the software's issue and not the rom. Flash it, fill it with your apps, and make a backup so you can go back to it anytime. No one has yet put out a stripped version of this rom, but there is plenty of space in the stock rom nonetheless. It also has some nice "bling" to help with the iPhone comparisons.
Of the 6.5 roms, I've found Da_G's to be most stable. Others may be also. I wouldn't recommend NRG's 3.0 roms as they are running TF3D2, which for me causes random appointment shifts. When you need to wake up for rounds or for class, it doesn't do to be an hour late sometimes. I've seen this even with his latest build.
Enjoy your experience, and good luck!

thanks for all the information! i'm going to try out the ROMs suggested here and see which one works for me.
are there more medical apps on the ipod touch than the windows mobile? i would think with windows mobile being an existing platform there would be a lot more applications.
wish you all the best of luck!
Hello there, med student too, year 4
So to help u a little bit now i.m using Energy ROM 3 ... really good and fast room, looks great BUT one major disadvantage is that u cannot run UpToDate v 17.1 (last version) on it because it uses the newest pocket internet explorer. Personally i think uptodate is the most complete interactive medicine atlas to put it simple. Now i.m using skyscape products, they help alot but still most of med students prefer uptodate
Cheers and good luck with your exams

There may be more apps for Windows Mobile but the bigger, capacitive screen and ease of use does it for me. Don't get me wrong, the Fuze is great but it just doesn't compare to the bigger, more finger friendly screen on the iPod. I always end up hitting the wrong thing on the Fuze and it takes twice as long because I have to go back and restart. With the iPod, I go to my calculator, pop in the Scr, age, race, etc. and in a second I have my GFR. With the bigger screen and buttons in the iPod apps, I never end up hitting the wrong thing.
Maybe if I had a Touch Pro 2...
I'm a dutch flightsurgeon for the Royal Dutch Airforce and I use my TP on daily base for medical purposes. Works great with my own M-rom but it's Dutch... ;-)
Nice to see all those soon to be docters in here.
Maybe one of the admins can create a medical corner for exchanging info/programs???
Energy ROM 3.0 and 1.12.25.19 radio (don't forget matching rilphone.dll)
Fastest and most stable with apps
I use many skyscape apps (harrison's, ecgnotes, taber's, 5min, etc.) and epocrates
If you use ePocrates, you need to stick to WinMo 6.1 as it's not compatible with WinMo 6.5 (yet, without any response from epocrates to my emails)
I'm starting residency and can't wait or deal with instability, so after 3 years of modding I've ultimately caved in and bought the iPhone 3G S
Enjoy,

yeah so many more attendings and residents i see are getting iphones for their support and ease of use. i'll probably do the same when i start residency in a year or so b/c honestly who has the time/energy to browse through these forums to find stuff, correct bugs, etc.
for now i'm using a fuze. if you do want to use a 6.5 rom, you can install epocrates. it's just that the update conduit doesn't work so it won't be able to sync during the installation. you can get around this by installing epocrates on 6.1 then backing up the program folder and moving that to your 6.5 rom. of course, you still won't be able to update directly in 6.5. search for one of my threads as i described the workaround for running epocrates in 6.5.
Med Student... you probably dont want to start flashing since it is addicting and you will spend most of your time in here and not on your books.
Get back to studing!!!!! ;P
hehehe
SoBBie
PS I use Energy mostly but have flashed most others to play with.

[POLL]Your favorite WM6.5 Rom

It is more than understood that the questio, what is the best ROM for my phone? Does not have a valid, absolute, answere. Its more of a whatever suits your needs.
But since the question still remains, and one can easily tell if a ROM is popular by the hits and posts on its corresponding thread. I think that a POLL where people simply say what is their favorite ROM and why, could be of some general help.
So in simple words just vote for your favorite ROM and if you want to, explain why it is your favorite ROM.
This is not a discussion or debate, its a POLL
I Will add your nominees to the POLL as soon as you start posting
My Fuze lost its virginity to NATF, had an affair with Chrome but in the end got married to EnergyRom. Much thanks to all of the Chefs and their hard work keeping us happy!

^ that pretty much sums up my story haha
Hey guys, a little help, this is the first time I start a poll, i limited it to 15 option but could only think of 2 when I started, how can I add Chrome series? Does a moderator have to do that or as the started of the thread I have to possibility to modify it?
Also could be useful to post as well as you probably did on the ROMS corresponding thread, what Radio seems to work good with your ROM. I like the EnergyROM + 1.14.25.35 Radio
You pretty much have to include all the polling options before people start voting, otherwise it would skew your results anyways...You could have just gone down the first two pages of the ROM development board, and found over a dozen discrete ROMs, FWIW.
FWIW, I do prefer NRG ROMs, but only slightly. All of the most recent crop of Raphael ROMs seem to be cut from the same cloth. The only really interesting new ROM I've seen recently is the one from twopumpchump, and that's really only interesting to me because he pre-packaged a $#!+-load of CHome Panels into the ROM, to make 6.5 a little more feature-rich. At the end of the day, the functionality of even this different-looking ROM is pretty much the same as all other 6.5 ROMs. When I want maximum bang for home-screen action, I still revert to TF3D.
Show me a ROM with an actual unique and functional interface (and I'm not asking anyone to cook in a paid solution like spb mobile), and I will be your biggest spokes-hole ever. Until then, I'll sit on what I've already got.
IMHO,
You poll will only provide value if you first create a checklist (criteria) by which to base the poll on. For example, the first post of the thread should list the functionality/features that one should use to make an informed POLL selection. Example sections could be:
Battery Consumption (1=poor, 5=great)
_ During call
_ During standby
_ During Wi-Fi
- During BT
Interface Speed (1=poor, 5=great)
_ Using TF3D
_ Using Native Mobile UI
Ease Of Use (1=poor, 5=great)
_ Shortcut (app) location
...
etc.
Once you create a comprehensive selection list, it would be necessary to shortlist the ROM's in the actual POLL. For example:
_ Energy 6.1 Std
_ Energy 6.1 Pro
_ Energy 6.5 Pro
_ NATF 4.0
_ NATF 4.5
...
etc.
Ok, I didnt have that in mind, Should I start a new one?
I don't know if I like the idea of this poll. I was on one for a while, I went back to the other, I may try another.. Shouldn't signatures be enough? I like how the chefs do this because they like doing it, and I'd hate to see a popularity contest create any bad blood or jealous feelings.
The other more important thing is that the ROMS are changing all the time, and the 'best' one today may not be that tomorrow...
One thing about a poll like this being up on this forum is that newcomers may just buy their Raphael, come and see this, and pick the leading ROM without looking into the issue in depth, lurking on the different forums, or trying ROMS for themself. I'm glad I actually tried different ROMs instead of getting my loyalty immediately hooked on a favorite.
EDIT: It would however be a lot more scientific/harmless/useful if done as hilaireg suggested, feature by feature. Some ROMS are optimized for speed, some for battery.. some are flashy, some are barebones.
Ok, I agree with burnblue, I have pretty much tried every WinMo6.5 ROM out there, and for the meanwhile stuck with my personal favorite. I'd though that since there are a few radio polls why not make a ROM one just to see what people think about the ROMs they like. And it is clearly stated, this is not for discussions or flaming. It is of popular knowledge that ROMs are created to serve different needs therefore opinions are 100% subjective and not by any means objective. I will post a new thread tonight having in mind all the parameters mentioned above to improve the objectivity of the poll itself.
All suggestions are welcomed and if the majority think that such poll is of poor taste or will start "a popularity contest create any bad blood or jealous feelings." I will not post a new poll and request a moderator to remove this one as well.
I dont feel it would be a terrible idea since it could potentially reduce the number of new threads just to ask the same question. At least if there were one thread kept open questions could be sent to that thread
That said, I think my favorite ROM is Chrome , but also enjoyed Energy and NATF when I used them. They all have their strengths and weaknesses and like its been said one ROM could be the greatest for me, but be the worst for you just depending on personal preference. I prefer TF3D over Titanium, so do not put any extra plugins in titanium anymore. With the use of UC, SASHIMI, or any other user customization program you can have whatever plugins you want withiout installing them individually or using software to disable plugins you dont use.
RRE rocks!!!
I vote that we close the poll. Who cares if there are disenfranchised voters? The exit polls show a strong bias for switching ROMs. We'd then have to face the legal battles between NRG, NATF, and others. They'd want a recount and take it all the way to moderators! CLOSE THE POLLS!!!!
(Just joking here - couldn't resist0
IMO this is kinda silly...I have used everyone’s ROMs and I could vote for who’s is the best right now....but then I would not be able to take my vote back if another ROM caught my eye...so to me that makes this poll silly…can we just agree that everybody has their own needs and preferences and that the work done by all of the chefs is appreciated with out having to vote?
I will only vote if there is an option for undecided or all...because who know what the future holds...
i see how elite project roms arent featuring here. i wish they would not sticky their roms in toe forum... not many people care for their roms it seems.
I dont want to be a total idiot, but can such thing be arranged with a moderator? Like you have only one vote but it can be changed every so many days? and new nominees be updated? Is that possible in a thread powered by vBulletin?
I like RRE.
i want to thank all cheifs. and enjoy testing all of them

Don't you think that you can determine the popularity of the roms just by looking at the number of posts in the rom threads? Or the number of posts per day? There aren't many 3,000+ post rom threads out there filled with hate-mail. Just looking at the current poll, you're looking at ~8:1 ratio favoring one of the roms. Take a look at the ratio of posts for the two roms (ok, nrg has a ton of threads). It's something like 3,500:500, which is what you would expect.
