Hi all.
Well, I made the jump to the Hermes.....I missed you ex-wizard guys...LOL.
I was wondering, and have searched with little to no luck, for an easy way to check the bootloader version on my Softbank. I want to start playing with it a bit, but have not been able to determine the bootloader version. I am hoping that I can downgrade to the Dopod 1.04 bootloader rom. My device info reads;
Rom Version 1.23.707.4
Rom Date 7/21/06
Radio Version 1.14.00.10
Protocol Version 32.50.7018.00H
Any help would be appreciated. I did d/l both of the guides, but I am still just a touch confused........

Put your phone into bootloader mode to get the version, then soft reset

I can not find bootloader mode.
I followed these directions: Bootloader mode: Hold side OK and POWER buttons together and reset with stylus form this link: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Resets
side ok button is the one closest to the scroll wheel and the power button is the one closest to the top on the right side of the unit, right?
All I seem to be doing is rebooting.
Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?

Sometimes I jump the gun and let go of the power and ok buttons as soon as i hit reset with the stylus try holding the power and ok a moment longer.

You might need to reflash it. Hold the two soft keys and then push the reset button. it will ask to hard reset. If the phone fails to come on after the hard reset, then hold the left 'ok' key and the power button, and then push the reset under the phone- this will take you to a tricolor screen where you can then re-flash the phone. try reflashing with official rom's, before using any other roms.
yes i do but it still in boot any sugest ipl 1.01 spl 1.40 olipro if any know how to update ipl with hard spl or how to remove hard spl it will be aprecible
My suggestion would be to try using sd to reflash the rom and see if that orks. format sd card making sure its fat 32 then put .nbh file in root directory. rename to herimg.nbh then insert into phone. go to bootloader and it should start the flash straight away. if this works make sure you upgrade spl to olipro 2.10 hard spl so its easier if there are problems. you can possibly upgrade spl this way too (get nbh file and rename hermimg.nbh). I tried this on my herme 100 and it seemed to work. it will flash the spl BUT when it restarts it will go straight to bootloader and start flashing again. as soon as it restarts get the sd card out and put on the os you want to flash. insert card and as long as you've named it hermimg.nbh it should flash new os with spl olipro 2.10. Good luck flashing.

just stop trying any unauthorised ideas. let me know if i can help u. i have a friend in o2 service centre here in india. he can get ur device working. he does it by help of a software and 3 cables . it takes about 2 hrs. just let me know if u want ur device to work again

If you want people to help you, you have to help yourself first!
1st of all, have you gone to read the Wiki as suggested?
2nd what methods have you tried to unbrick your device?
If you can't answer these questions then we can not help you, you keep asking for suggestions but you do not even reply to other's questions!

Can anyone please post a guide on how to flash Hard-SPL onto my HTC TYTN.
The guide for installing Hard-SPL onto the HERMES is not available anymore, and i am EXTREMELY confused about what im doing, and i am afraid i will brick my phone if i do something wrong.

It really isn't hard to do. But be sure you know what you are doing btw. SO read the sticky!
Basically you just download the flavor of Hard SPL you want (I used 2.10 which I can recommend, very easy to downgrade to factory SPL again as I just learned!).
After download unzip the folder and run the RUUWrapper. Follow instructions exactly, do nout unplug your device etc. and it should work like a charm. It takes about 1 minute!
If you don't know what you are doing or you are still doubting, wait for Mr Vanx site to come online again or don't flash. There is always a risk you screw up and end with a $500 brick.
So use at your own risk!

hi guys have tried to update mine today on a jasjam it connects sys it updating but starts at 0% then just jumps to 100% and says flash finished but when i restart the phone it still has the same loader what am i doing wrong i want to update it from windows 5 to windows 6 using crc-9 but don't want to update till i do the loader any help from you guys would be great

start the device in bootloader, what is displayed?
Mine is doing the exact same thing. Starts at 0% and jumps to 100% and says it is done, but it has done nothing.

the SPL flash is VERY quick.
I'll ask YOU this aswell, put your device into bootloader mode and tell us what it says.

thanks for your reply after checking the bootloader it has changed to 2.10 olie it did it so fast i thought it had failed will check properly next time and have successfully flashed it to crc 9 and it runs great thanks for all the help

I appreciate your reply Mr. Vanx. Same as with puca, I put my phone into the bootloader mode and it does indeed show the correct 2.10 Olipro version. This is the 3rd 8525 I have had and I could have SWORN it took much longer on the first 2. Even the update from WM5 to WM6 seemed to take much less time with this particular phone. Guess I shouldn't really complain
Downgrade Error 260
Hi Mr Vanx I have followed your guide to downgrade my current SSPL (2.10 Olipro) to SSPL (1.11). But I keep getting error 260. I have followed guide step by step.
I have even tried flashing from SD-Card (by renaming to HERMING.nbh). Process runs successfully, but nothing happens.
Its still showing SSPL-2.10 Olipro in bootloader. Am I missing anything?

can some one point me to the guide. I am facing a NO GSM problem on vodafone VPA 1605 with following config:
ROM Version: 1.20.161.6
Radio: 1.03.06.00
CID: VODAP001
Bootloader: 1.04
I do not see the radio version or the IMEI. So I would like to do a HARDSPLv7 followed by Radio ROM update to 1.06.00.10. I hope this will work. Seniors may help with their sggestion.
Can someone help me with the guide to HARDSPL as I am doing it for the first time and the guides are not available at MR Vanx site nor can I locate the sticky?

I have an I-mate 9502 but my problem is for pocket pc generaly.
I installed a program for sound, When I do a soft reset it hangs on Blue Imate page and didn't boot.
I tried to hard reset but it dosen't worked too(I know hard reset of it, is Green+FN+Power button) but it don't work, Also I tried to install a fresh Rom but it need to loud windows.
Please help how to hard reset it.

After Flashed with the new ROM, My Device is now stuck in iMate Blue Screen Logo....!!!
But Don't worry Guys...it can be solved with manually hard Reset...
1. Remove battery and reinsert (to make sure the phone is off).
2. Hold down Fn and the Green button (with the phone icon on it) and press the power button.
3. You will see the white hard reset option screen almost immediately. Press the Left Soft Key to hard reset.

Please help me, as its very urgent. I have been upgrading to various ROM's every now and then. Recently I did a blunder, as While upgrading with One of the ROM (Black Majik) i selected SPL 2.10 instead of Force SSPL and while upgrading USB Connection get lost.
Now I am only getting the Splash Screen showing HTC, when i Hard Reset my phone I do not get IPL and SPL version displayed and it takes my to the Splash Screen again.
Please help me in finding a way i can recover my phone.

Try a hard reset...
If that doesn't work and you have Hard SPL on your phone upgrade using the sd card method.
As for your IPL and SPL, what do you see when you go to bootloader? That shows your IPL & SPL. To get to bootloader press power, OK button next to flywheel and soft reset with stylus. Hold all three buttons until you get to tri-colour screen. That will tell you what IPL & Spl you have.

Thanx for help. I could get my IPL and SPL info. But still i am not been able to get any rom installed on my device as it get stuck on that tri-color screen and rom up gradation wizards comes with different rom looks for activesync connection with the device. I am not been able to boot my device so that i can upgrade it to specific rom. Is there any way i can install a ROM without having active sync connection with the device...

IF you have flashed Hard SPL on your phone you have a good Chance...
If you haven't and its under warranty you might be able to get them to fix for you.
Assuming you have Hard SPLed your phone, try the sd card method - format up to 2gb sd card fat32. copy the .nbh file from the rom upgrade to the sd card.Rename the .nbh file to "hermimg.nbh". Reset phone. As you keep going into bootloader you wont have to manually do that. It should recognize the os flash and prompt you to hit the power button to proceed...
PLEASE NOTE - THIS WILL ONLY WORK IF YOUR SPL IS 2.10 OLIPRO...
Hope you upgraded your SPL cos you will only have a paper weight otherwise..

I had that problem and few more with my Hermes.
While it didn't help me, this suggestion by ultramag69 may help you...
Use the sd card method to flash a new rom, instead of a USB cable/Windows computer.
1. Format a 2Gb or less sd card to FAT32, copy the large 50MB-90MB .nbh file onto it and rename to hermimg.nbh
2. Insert the card into your Hermes and reset to bootloader (hold OK & POWER and push RESET for a sec with the stylus)
3. If you haven't stuffed up the other steps, follow the prompts.

Just one other thing summoner, make sure you have Hard SPL V7 installed. Otherwise the ONLY rom I'd try flashing like that is the SHIPPED STOCK ROM. Its so the CID will be recognised and won't cause a brick.
rmorera84, unless you've installed Hard SPL V7 then find the SHIPPED STOCK ROM and flash that, anything else may permanently brick your Hermes.
If you have Hard SPL V7 (IPL 1.04, SPL 2.10 oli) then flash what you like...

I suppose I should upgrading the radio rom now!?
I am told don't try fixing what isn't broken - and it is working. 3G iNet, Phone, WiFi, BT - all good atm.
Or is there a particular update I should still install?

SUMM0NER, you're using an older, not so safe version of Hard SPL. The Hermes is downgraded to SPL 1.40 when you sim/CID unlock your phone. Best idea would be to re-install Hard SPL V7. Its a later version that seems less prone to problems when flashing.
Go back to the Hard SPL thread and get Hard SPL V7. I had the same thing happen to me when I unlocked the Hermes, nearly cost me my handset.
The steps are unlock Hermes, Install Hard SPL then upgrade OS.

Because whit any other rom they stuck at 11%.

Whit the first rom the htc boot but the phone funtion don´t work.

SUMM0NER, no. You have loaded the os, the reason you put Hard SPL V7 is if you want to upgrade the radio rom (not a good idea unless you are experiencing problems) or wish to change the os. Just means recovery is easier than if you didn't have it.

Can I assume your Hermes is working right now?
If it is download and install HardSPL V.7 (attached to the bottom of the first post!)
Ones done verify that it installed correctly by holding the OK & Power button and pushing reset for a sec. The screen should display the coloured bars and say towards the centre: SPL-2.10.Olipro
It´s Cingular 8525, i could install the HardSPL V.7, now what rom i can flash??
You didn't confirm if it is working right now!?
If it is not working, try one of the official WM5 Cingular roms from this list. If that worked apply HardSPL 7 and take it from there.
Ones you downloaded the Cingular rom update you will have to keep unpacking the .exe files until you come to the actual .NBH file (WinRAR works for me).
Then follow ultramag69's instructions on flashing the rom via memory card.

Try downgrading to the Cingular rom via USB. Just double click the EXE and follow the instructions.
To use the memory card method follow these steps...

The reason to use the memory card to upgrade a rom, rather than a usb cable, is to cut down on failed upgrades (dodgy Windows/usb port/usb cable/etc..).
All working? Try upgrading to a Hermes rom that didn't work previously.
Any rom you can find in the Hermes section. Go to the WM06 part of the forum, theres a sticky at the top with about 50 older roms and you'll find other roms there too (latest is wm6.5).

i install the official WM5 AT-T version the WM6 AT-T, but, i still whit the no-gsm problem, can i flash i radio? or what i can do??
You may not be able to fix this, if you know what the original SHIPPED STOCK ROM was and can find it, then flash that. It may not work, if it gets stuck at 11% - 17% mark it means the radio ROM is stuffed and the memory area is corrupted. Not fixable.
You could also try, if you know what it is, the original radio rom by itself. Again, if you can't get it to work, you have a PDA but won't work as a phone ever again. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Im to having the same problem, it keeps going back to the 2.1.Olipro boot loader.
I tried the memory card option and it starts to install but then stops.
Does anyone have and sugestions?

Hi, I got my Hermes 8525 in boot mode what i did is to install this Schaps_WM6Pro_WWE_4.00_Full.exe now my hermes is working but i want to unlock it..what can I do cos everytime i try got in to boot mode again..any help tks.,..
