Multiplayer Internet Games for PocketPC / Windows Mobile? - Windows Mobile Apps and Games

Are there any good Windows Mobile / PocketPC Online multiplayer games?
With most people now having an unlimited data/internet package now on their PDA phone, multiplayer gaming woul dbe easy and free, kind of like it is on the Nintendo Wii right now.
Are there any mutiplayer games over the internet for Windows Mobile that are not subscription based, and just use your mobile internet connection?

Try SPB Online Games

lol...i was afraid I would get that reply. i had already found that, but it is so limited.
I guess what I mean is, why is there no development in this area on a mass scale? I mean there is a huge audience and market for it...why is it being ignored?
Because as of right now, that SPB game pack is pretty much all that's out there.

ask questions in the Questions & Answers section of the forum next time.
and please, DON'T answer questions here.

sorry, i thought it would fall under "software and development" since i was asking about software.

Raging Thunder, multiplayer over internet racing game for iphone is now available, we need more stuff like that for wm devices!

try everything that Real Dice have to offer, I fount their online Poker quite addictive...
http://www.realdice.com/

I'd rather love to have multiplayers games which take advance of Bluetooth or WLAN.

Try Orions, it has a TCP based muliplayer Mode
http://www.pocketmoregames.com/orions.htm

Doom Legacy...was able to play multiplayer games over my lan when I was developing it, so no reason why it shouldn't work over internet...
Can't seem to post a link to it though.
Anyway, it is hosted on my website, which is in my profile...

what games do you know that can be played over bluetooth or wlan?

Asphalt, Snails, Warfare Incorporated, 3D Mini-Dogfight 1.4, 3D Mini Jetfight
also some poker/pool/card games I guess..

Aspyr released a Call of Duty 2 PPC title.... Later in an update to the core; They released a multiplayer component and accompanying dedicated server app that you could toss on a server and hide. Then anyone with the PPC client could of course connect to it. From anywhere they had Wifi or what have you... Cool!
I ran it on my Vista 64 machine as a service... and on xp32 just to test about a year ago.
Connected to it flawlessy from a hotspot...
Problem is.. It is old and blocky looking and nobody plays it.
Was a problem Zooming and autofiring in single player and multi on my Axim X51v - felt like a bug. They never supported it past the one update.
They (aspyr) have that Great Tony Hawk PS2 for PPC though!
Does anyone remember if the Quake 3 Arena PPC port had online mulitplayer? If so.... There ya have it!

Playing mobile phone (mainly nokia) Java games on XDA I

Hi Guys
Firstly as this is my first post I just wanted to say I have found this site to be a wealth of information and full of great team work and support all round. congrats. The XDA support people in Asia could learn a thing or two from you all.
Now for my question - Is it possible to play nokia java games on the O2 XDA? I thought a JVM would do the trick but I am not sure which one if any would do that job. I understand the O2 XDA II plays mobile phone java games - if so - what do they use and could we use the same method?
:?
Thanks heaps
Saman
The XDAII also doesn't have a JVM. One was promised by O2 at the device launch, but I seriously doubt if they'll ever get around to incorporating it.
There are many more important things that need sorting out anyway (a decent bluetooth stack, reliable alarms, SMS + sign bug, etc).
Java mobile games are generally pretty trivial, especially compared to some of the quality native PocketPC games.
If you're after a vast library of high quality games, I'd suggest trying out emulation - gnuboy and PocketNes work perfectly, and there are some genuinely fantastic games out there for these platforms. PocketScumm is also worth trying, you can buy the Lucasarts adventures quite cheaply nowadays: most of them are absoute classics.

Hey guys - Thanks for the replies
andyclap - I've actually got morph gear and that is cool but I cant get any sound on it
Rudegar - Can the personal java provided by SUN allow us to compile the nokia games to be played on the O2 XDA and how?
Thanks
Saman
The sun VM is trully dreadful, at least on WM2003 - it was designed for WCE2.11. If you really want a JVM, Jeode is probably the best supported, but it's expensive; and I'm not sure about its compatibility with Nokia games.
As for compiling Nokia games .. you have the source?
Just what exactly are you trying to do?
I was playing on my mates Samsung Camera phone and he was bosting about it, whipped out my XDA lol that shut him up, the other day I relised they were java games when i saw Sun Microtech logo pop up, PPC games owns anything java could do
Hi Guys
Andy Clap - I'm just trying to play ready for nokia java games. It sounds like there isn't a way to do it really.
It seems accurate though that there games are simple but they have so many nice looking free games at their disposal - unless anyone knows of any links i could check out for games
thanks
Saman
if i were in your shues i would try messing with a few of the java wm's i url'd to and see if it'll work
you could also try messing with getting them to run on a pc first just to see if it'll work on anything which is not nokia at all
Hey All
I'll give it a go if I can get anything working I'll let you know
Cheers
Saman

Great ROMS DCD!

The seems to be alot of people here that have devoted ALOT of time to making our Titans the products we always hoped our carriers promised. It is amazing to me that with all their massive infrastructures, engineers & support staff they just can't seem to keep pace with DCD, no2chem...the list goes on.
I am avid computer gaming and graphics enthusiast, home theater, XBOX hacker...building my own systems and am learning the ropes here on my Moguls (3 in the family). I have not gotten to the point of building my own custom ROM's for my specific needs..yet.
I just wanted to say thanks for spending the time making these units a better device for all of us. I can only imagine the hours it must take everyone involved. I love the fact that there are others out there still that say "F*** That!" when we are given crappy software by manufacturers and have the dedication to do what they seemingly cannot!
So Thanks!

Well then you have given me hope I can master this. On a side note, I hacked the old xbox along time ago with a Xenium ICE chip and now just received the Globe 360 v2 chip from Europe for the XBOX 360 to make that console more agreeable. Should be fun...
w00t xbox hacking!
im still waiting for some reliable solution for homebrew on the 360 though...
and thanks for the roms dcd, but youve got me reflashing my phone almost on a daily basis with the 2.x.x releases, lol
This is way off topic but I'll jump in. I used to hack the original Xbox to get XBMC, copy my games to HD to make them load faster, emulators, etc. I found the only real feature I used was XBMC and I was using it all the time. I personally don't play games all that much and when I do I like to play them online so ripping games wasn't something I did often.
Honestly, with the Fall 360 update I have zero reason to mod my 360. XBLA fills my classic game fix (I play Doom and Sonic ) and I can access all my media over UPnP.

homebrew will nice for the 360. I have 3 XBMC boxes as well....
agreed, awesome ROMs. Gotta thank no2chem too...
Awesome Rom's DCD
First off, DCD your roms are amazing i wish i had the skill/talent/time to do the amazing work that your capabile of!
I too used to Mod xboxs (i was an x-ecuter guy myself), PS1's, PS2's and now my PDA!
Thank You DCD! I took am enjoying your custom rom update...GPS works great...just need to test the bluetooth now.
yea, thanks for all the help to dcd and everyone else. this is also off topic, but there is no way i would even buy an xbox 360 if i couldnt burn games, so bravo to everyone who hacks them, cause i did and 360 is better than ever

can windows phone7 play against xbox live players on your phone

Windows Phone7 is shaping up too be a monster. Well as far as gaming is concerned. As much as they are concentrating on gaming, they should call it Xbox mobile7 hahahaha.
Can other people who found online photos of windows phone games post it here so we can have a collection.
Wow...
That is so fake it actually made me cry a little.
First person shooters are barely playable with a console controller; What makes you think a touchscreen will be remotely playable?!
How do you move, aim, and shoot at the same time?!
living under a rock
Where exactly have you been? Xtracts is a 3D 1st person shooter and runs perfect. They even have Doom for pocket pc. You should check online before you make silly comments. They even have Assasins Creed 3D .....where have you been?
nice

looks great even if not yet out with games, we know they will deliver a good gaming device.
Well at least at launch it will only be asynchronous multiplayer. I want realtime multiplayer and adhoc multiplayer! Hopfully it won't be too long before we get them.

Um no. Xtrakts is a 3rd person shooter, Assassins creed is a 3rd person adventure game. Doom is the only one you listed that is a FPS. You should learn what your talking about before you accuse others of making silly comments.
I h8 that way online gaming got on consoles. And that bad way jumps over to you phones and computers. Online register, payed updates, completely dependent on the vendors servers etc..
Also it is impossible to play on Phone agains Computer or XBox players ->
Mouse>Gamepad>Finger
some people love to disagree
Xtracts, assasins creed, and doom all example of complex games that people thought werent possible. Now I gone online and scoped out infomation. Iam not about to put everything I know here that would take pages. So for nagle go look online and research before you jump gun ready to attack. The information is all out there. Even my website has a wealth of knowlegde on windows phone7. I dont deal with rumors ethier , I speak on what has been confirmed by Microsoft.

Well I was in no way attacking I'm just correcting you. 3rd person= you seeing the character your playing, example xtrakt and assassins creed. First person = you looking through the characters eyes, doom is a great example of this. But as far as playing any newer FPS on a phone, yes they can make it happen but I highly doubt it would be remotely enjoyable. Even FPS on the psp suck because of not having dual analog sticks.

Thank you for confirming that it can be done. Microsoft cant afford to lie about what thier promising or thats the end of winodows mobile, Iam sure everyone agrees on that.
more and more
Also besides call of duty on ipod there is also resident evil which is very impressive. I think microsoft is going for the juggular here. They going for it finally after wasting so much time and empty promises ,,this looks to be it.
Still want to call a fake

microsoft
Now microsoft has made it where you can play indiana jones on the phone save your game and continue it on your XBOX . Thats amazing!!
The title is very misleading
The title suggests I can be playing any Xbox 360 game, online against my mates, then simply pick up my phone and carry on. This is exactly what Microsoft want - people spreading incorrect rumours that they themselves are not responsible for.
There will be some games that you can play on the Xbox 360 and then continue to play on your phone, but it will only be games that are designed to do this. This will not include the big blockbusters. As it's already been pointed out in this thread, it is simply not possible to play a fully fledged 1st person shooter (a real one - not some pretend one) on a touchscreen, with full control. It's taken years for the console developers to come up with the current controllers, and they can't be replaced with 2 thumbs on a touchscreen.
If I'm wrong and it turns out that a future rendition of Call of Duty does work on WP7, then I take all this back and thoroughly look forward to sitting at my console and seeing you online on your phone, because you won't stand the slightest chance.
not misleading at the time was posted but there have been changes
Yes when this was 1st posted Microsoft had said that you be able to play mulit-player against other players. Now that everything is finalized Microsoft has said games made with XNA will be able to be played online against XBOX players. The title has truth I never said any game . Honestly I myself wont be developing for windows phone7 , I stick to 6.5 because I dont see too many people buying this new phone.

Same here mate. I'll be on WM6.5 until my contract runs out (early next year) and then I'm on Android.

That wasn't a silly comment.
These games may look good, but they are not of the level of games on a console platform. That particular game has 1 analog stick for both movement and looking. This will never please a real gamer. Consider that a modern day console has 2 analog sticks, a direction pad, 4 main buttons, 4 front buttons, and the 2 sticks can both be used as buttons as well as moving and looking, at the same time! That's too much to put on a touchscreen, so a phone will never be as good as a console. It's literally a completely different market.

Games and availability

An internet site, which shall remain nameless, offers an amazing amount of cracked games for my HD2, for free. This is all good. But I love my phone, and I woulden't mind paying for some of them. To support the non-Iphone scene, if nothing else.
Why oh why, aren't these games and apps available on the marketplace?! I was really surprised to find that there are so many games out there. But that doesn't help, if people doesn't know where to get 'em.
Is there something wrong with my Marketplace app? I only have two games to choose from. Mahjong, and some brain game/app?
try switching to the US MArket, there are more than 2 games in there
Try www.freewarepocketpc.net, there are some good games there too. but there are many games over here too!!
Hi,
I try to search but I've found nothing interesting;
I would know what is the best 3d game for win mob 6.5 in your opinion?
I don't know anything about the HD2 game because i don't own one.
But just for sure that the site you mention really provide games. But I don't think there is any site like that. *~*
The window mobile has very few games, 3D games is even fewer. I am very sad about it... T_T
But the HD2 can run Android OS. I think that is also a solution for you.

[Q] Slow paced (or turn based) multiplayer games?

Do you guys know of any games that can be played with other android phones at a leisurely pace? On that I have in mind is Words with Friends (and similar games). I'm looking for something that I can play with a friend of mine, but that we can but down for a while and then pick back up whenever one of us has a free minute.
Thanks!
I think its a MMO on the market called pocket something its multiplayer not turned based & free
derp
Try searching "ShipCombat Multiplayer". It's basically like battleship and you're able to sync it with facebook as well.
There's an MMO called "Pocket Legends" as well, if that's the kind of game you're into. "Dungeon Defenders" is similar as well.
Not to mention all the RPG style games like iMobster available on the market.
"Chess Online" lets you play games with people around the world also.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I feel like the Market needs more slow-paced multiplayer games. I'm personally waiting for them to port Hanging with Friends.
Thanks for the reply, guys. Cell phones are the ideal platform for slower turn based games like this. I'll look into that battleship.
