I've been searching around the forum for the past few days to find an answer to the question i have had for a long time.. But the only thread i could find, with just about the same question, had no replies..
I don't want to be annoying and create threads, But since i haven't actually bought the phone yet i don't understand half of it haha.
Anyway.. My questions is>
You can set up internet on the phone by typing stuff like proxy/APN and it will work even overseas?
POP3 e-mail account can be set up and work overseas too?
Anyway! I read about the unlock.
I'm not sure what is post or pre april? And what phones are unlockable.
I will be buying it of a japanese auction site.. And i've looked at a few auctions, one of them says
Radio version : 1.14.00.10
Another says
Radio version : 1.16.00.00 (both of these are used phones)
Will i be able to unlock these? I would like to keep the language Japanese (because i need that to write e-mail to my girlfriend in Japan)
If so, how? just by the USB cable, and buy the unlock from http://www.imei-check.co.uk/m3100unlock.php? Or what ?
Please don't give me link to the unlock thread and tell me to read it.. i've read it and didn't understand most of it :/

But the 1.16.00.00 is possible to unlock for free on this community !?
And still be in japanese, and able to use overseas?

You only need to buy imei-check.co.uk thing if you want to unlock 1.14.00.10 version.
One with radio 1.16.00.00 should already be unlocked, check it out first...

I spoke with a seller, he said he Unlocked the phone when going on business trip to China, and the radio is 1.16.00.00. He said that the unlock might not work because he did a hard reset.. Is that true?

i can use any simcard availble in india with no network issue. However I don't know if it is CID unlocked!! Is there any way to find out if it is or not?

There are 2 kinds of Lock to a PPC
first is Simlock or Network Lock ( which is easy to break )
2nd is CID Lock Which is Country id lock. which can be broken for G3 Chips but for G4 Its hard.. as i hear from the ppl.
as i said CID Lock means Country ID lock . Means if you buy phone..of UK Operator lets O2 Xda Mini s , SO u will not be able to use Rom from any other Country lets say.. any rom from france or US.. coz your device is CID LOCK to UK it will not let it flash any other rom than one for UK . But there are ways to get around it....
I have CID Lock G4 Device.... and i m running faria wm6 rom on it..
Hope this clear your doubt a little..

Yes Your Device is Definetely G4 But I am not sure abt if its CID Unlocked. and i don;t think looking at the given info anybody can find out if the device is CID unlocked...
My suggestion... Don;t worry about... CID LOCK...... but just make sure.. whatever rom u put.. that support CID locked devices...
and Always have your Base rom with you before u flash any rom...
just incase u screw up anything.. so u can u the base rom to go back..

Rule of thumb is if you personally did not CID unlock the device then it is still CID locked.
You are most likely SIM unlocked which will allow you to use any valid sim card in the phone, which is what you described in post 2.
You can try to flash a rom and if the OS doesn't update even though the flash said it was finished then you are CID locked. Just make sure you are flashing a G4 safe rom since your device is a G4. DO NOT flash a rom that contains IPL/SPL.
You can CID unlock through the imei unlockers website for a cost. Or you can try the shelltool flash method. It's up to you but you should read the G4 forums for information from people that have used these systems for their take on how to do it, how well it worked.

ON IMEI CHECK WEBSITE WICH SECTION SHOULD I GOTO IN ORDER TO VERIFY?
If you dont know ... is your device locked or not ... try to flash a german or spanish rom from any provider :->
Its true ... all device you buy are CID locked.

I think you have to cool down and stop using such big letters.Doesn't help the thread and you'll probably end flamed by someone.
Anyone who wants to know if his/her device is CID locked just needs to get my tool (check signature) and read the CID status

I called TM to give me the unlock code for my MDA Vario.. about two days later I got the unlock code via e-mail. I've inserted other simcard and it accepted, no problems. Now its a truly world gsm phone I can use while traveling abroad.
Now.. what is all this talk about CID unlock? I read a few post but still lost, there is so much information scattered. I read the wiki site about upgrading to WM6 and I'm still confused..
Do I need to do the CID unlock? what are the pro/cons? What is the next step after sim unlocking.

You don't NEED to CID unlock. Only if you want to flash (upload) new ROMs especially from other than t-Mobile. Go HERE for specific guidance regarding SIM/CID unlocking.

Nopes ! don't misguide the noobs,All the relevant info,guides and procedures are very appropriately uploaded,posted,upgraded and easily available at "XDA-Wiki",but atleast one must know how to use 'Wiki',if still you don't understand or seek more info,than you can either search the relevant forum or start a new thread,ok

You don't need to CID unlock but you do need to install Hard-SPL. Then you can flash any ROM you like. Try reading the wiki and read the forums about flashing before you flash for the first time.
The sticky posts on the Forums often cover the basics.

hooold it! before you make a big mistake.
* ALWAYS use hard spl!
* use any rom that you like
* update it...and that's all
you don't use CID lock unless you are 100% sure of what you're doing! when you're device is CID unlocked there is no way back!
(a pain in the *ss with warrenty issues)
Is there are way to know if your phone is already CID unlock or not?
Cuz i bought my phone with a custom rom in it already... so i know that it has been HardSPL already, but i don't know if they had unlock the security/CID or not...

Only the SPL, the Vario IV's are not locked.
(The one I have isn't, a "contract" renewal, got it for free )

Hi I have issue with start any rom upgrade at my phone. i have 1,14 rom wersion iside my HTC. when i try to install any rom i god error mesge and phone back to Vodafone is without simlock but is impossible to install any rom. can i ask you for help. i have use one of rom from comunity and after 5 min with 0% recive error 262.

Pretty sure error 262 is vendor ID check which means your not Hard-SPL or CID unlocked i'd advise you take some time to read the stickys at the top of forum before going any further...
Hello, I just ordered a HD2 that is locked to Tmobile, so I believe it is the 1024Leo. My main question is, Do I need to find someone with a Tmobile Sim to be able to install Hardspl or can I just hook it up to USB and run the program?

no you dont need a sim in to run hspl.
You know hspl wont unlock the network lock though, right?
There is no hack/unlocker for the hd2. You will need to buy a code or get one off t mo.
Hello folks, well first of all I wanna say thanks for this community, with a big stuff and tutorials and help ppl, ok now my question is, I have Xperia U ST25a with unlocked Band for any company , because they give me the code to unlock it, now the problem is the bootloader still not allowed, so my question is, how unlock bootloader Allowed to No to Yes? this is something of my carrier? in this case Movistar? because I speak with support of Sony and they told me never give cellphones with Bootloader blocked, so in this case what I need do for unlock it? need speak every time with my carrier? they give many turns and really this make me sick, because I pay for the cellphone and I want unlock it, so if somebody know the way to do it via tool or something, because don't have idea how they lock bootloader, sure exist some tool to do it, but if they can lock it, too can unlock it, ok I hope somebody can exaplain me it and sorry if disturb here with noob question, but I can't found any information in the net about that, well I read something here about the company is who need give this answer but in my country we have no law to protect us in this regard, ok many thanks for all community again and hope somebody can clarify it to me, cheers.
