GSensor on S740? - S740, S743 General

Does HTC S740 have GSensor (accelerometer)? I found there are some registry entries in HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCSensor\GSensor (with DeviceAvailibility = 0 among others) and HTCSensorSDK.dll, HTCSensorService.dll libraries.
Is it just because some services aren't loaded (DeviceAvailibility is reseted on boot) or the hardware really isn't there?

there is no GSensor as I know

We all know the specs, did you actually try something (drivers, registry changes, ...)?

No
but I dissasemble my rose and didn't find accelerator like in my diamond

Well, that's a pity.
Don't you have some photos of disassembled S740? I would like to see how it looks

No, I didn't
but maybe I make photos in next weekend
my HTC is not for sale version so there is no any "warranty void if remove" stiker on it
..there is no warranty to of course

WM6 ROM Cooking

OK... so this is the fun stuff.
I've dumped the WM6 ROM, since everything's on DoC this should all go swimmingly in terms of putting it back together.
so... since there's a plethora of WM6 ROMs for other devices, what existing stuff shall we build a ROM with for now?
For the first go, I'd personally like to see mrvrealvga integrated as well as humanly possible into the ROM. As well as basic performance tweaks and utilities.
Otherwise, vanilla as hell. Only include things that are nearly universally used.
Example: I don't use TomTom and neither do lots of other folks. Why waste the space.
Example: I do use MS VoiceCommand and it seems like some ROMs do a good job of integrating it. I would love that, but if others don't, then scratch that.
Keep the first one mean and lean.
My thoughts.
I second wgary's comments to the wants and not wants.
NICE waited long time now let the cooking begin :
Mouse driver from mobidock (important!!)
trueVGA interegated with the files (vijays big phone and other trueVGA files)
HTC touchFLUO files interegated (that will make it to scroll to in any menu and page)
HTC audio manager (VGA)
SMS backup
Batterystatus 1.04
Ofiice 2007 for WM6
Clear storage
some tweaks (to make it fatser like GDI tweaks, storage cache tweaks)
HTC today audio plugin (from htc touch)
all the functions of WM6 intact but if microsofts voice is taken away i find it good because it never works!! need the files or cabs i have them solet me know!!
RE: Office 2007.
Yeah, that would be great and all... but ONLY if it can be integrated without being a space hog. Sounds like bloat-a-rama.
You have 256MB of ROM, plus 8gigs on the hard drive, what's to complain?
As you requested, i'm trying to stick to things that have already been done so you can come out with a quick and easy and OPTIMIZED ROM.
- Safe Mode functionality built into the ROM.
- Fix trueVGA...but not sure how much of it has been fixed other than the dialer and a few other things. Not 100% so you may want to wait on this.
- All black ROM that works in both VGA and trueVGA modes? This already exists and may be easily done. Here is an existing one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314263&highlight=buttonflo
- Maybe Palm Threader for SMS threading?
- I would like a ROM with this look for my Athena, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311225 , all files should be available to make it easier on you if you decide to go this route. I really don't care for the today screen look but the phone and comm manager look nice. Just don't like the wallpaper. Needs to be just black without the texture used.
- TouchFlo aka ButtonFlo feature. We discussed this before and it looks like someone already came out with it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314031&highlight=buttonflo
- (UPDATED) Touchflo cube + Black magic + VP3G rom + Instructions + links to rom, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314324&highlight=buttonflo

- JetCet Print since it wasn't in the latest ROM with WM6
- WM6 Remote Desktop

Can't think of anything else that already exists that we may want.
Edit: Is it possible to "modify" Magic Button to integrate better into the new shading on WM6?
Beside all of the above postings..can i suggest one ?

If possible there shout be a Vanilla Rom and a full Rom, that's how the did it in the Hermes section.
Also there is a new Kaiser HTC Home plugin (Also VGA) and remade by some people: Look at this thread:

Olipro: i am interested to do some cooking in order to have Blackberry connect running (change the version). For other rooms it was due modificating the nbf file, but for HTC 7500 I don't know how to do. I tested the tool HTC64 but says not sure about the result due it was for UNIVERSAL.
I have been using nbextract to obtain the .nb files. Where I can change the version of the operative system -I mean it is in the G4 or where?

YES! Please remote the built in dialer. I don't know anyone that uses it.
I use it! Because I drive and I use a BT adapter, PLUS I am italian and I would like to use a voice system having in MY language my contacts.
I record my contacts and I call using voice dial
Personally i prefer Cyberon Voice Commander to MS Voice Command - seems to recognise me better!
I think the Office 2007 updates should be in there, plus WM Storage, plus jetware extensions (although not sure how youd handle registration), oh and WiFiFoFum would be cool to fine hotspots.

I think ltxda's list is very good starting point. (other than I don't care about MvrTrue Vga) on my Universal I really only used with IE or Opera and now with their new scaling options, I really don't need true vga or its inherent issues.
I would also prefer MS Voice Command, and have cyberon completed removed or as an addon. I like MS voice command even better than the complete cyberon.
I will suggest to have a a look of to the new HTC_USA x7501 rom, may be it has new DLLs and faster drivers..
HTC Kaiser add-ins
Here's my request -
The new HTC add-ins from HTC Kaiser:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316107
HTC Homeplug with additional tab
HTC 3G Dialpad with Video call
HTC 9 button commanager
Also, would be nice if it including the fixed HTC Audio Manager with correct track order (doe anyone know if this is available yet?)
VGA QVGA!
Hi Oli great work you've been doing already. I'd love to see the today screen in VGA so I can finally have all my info on one page without scroll but I'd like a way to set individual programs to default to QVGA when I start them
ie. a sat nav program such as iGo8 which I'd have to install afterwards.

Windows Mobile 6.1 Base ROM (Testing)

This ROM is deprecated, as the purpose of the ROM was to help test a kitchen. As the kitchen has been released, this ROM will no longer be supported. Please use the kitchen to build a ROM, and report issues there.
Over the past several weeks, in my copious spare time (<-- sarcasm, if you missed it ), I've been working on a more or less vanilla ROM (in this case, vanilla referring to one that is very similar to shipping ROMs). My goal in this case has been slightly different from some of the other ROMs which have popped up here, though: my ultimate goal is to release a suitable ROM kitchen so that users in the Athena forum here can develop ROMs that create their own custom ROMs, rather than having to rely on other people to tweak their ROMs for them.
As a result, this ROM isn't a very interesting ROM in a lot of ways. It's meant to be a test for a solid basic ROM. If this test goes without much in the way of problems (which is what I hope for), in roughly a week, I should be able to release the kitchen for this ROM. At that point, I'd like to see users contribute OEM packages and/or tweaks to make things better. I'd prefer to avoid putting them in the base ROM because not everybody is willing to make the same tradeoffs (like the GlyphCache registry hack which trades memory for display speed). I'll be using this ROM for the next week or so as well, to help flush out any issues. I've been running it for a couple of days, and it seems fine so far.

Backgrounds for Audio Booster, Audio Manager, QuickGPS, and the phone skin have been tweaked to work on up to 96 dpi without causing visual corruption.
Miscellaneous other updates which aren't really worth listing for this test ROM, although they'll all be listed with a kitchen release
Known issues/concerns:
The XIP is the XIP from AP 5.0 beta (build 19588.1.1.4, which was from the Sony X1 Xperia ROM). I've tried to generate a matching XIP for the ROM, but it won't boot. Anybody around here know how to create a good XIP?
There seem to be some issues with the Bluetooth OBEX service not being able to start. That's true of this ROM as well. It's able to send files to a PC without a problem, but it can't receive files (although it can copy them).
Even though screen rotation works both in the operating system and in HTC Album, HTC Album's screen rotation has the chance to screw up the operating system's screen rotation. A workaround is to use an application that can restart services (such as the FdcSoft Task Manager) to restart HTC Sensor Service (Athena).
Although the phone skin does work on 128 and 96 dpi, the speed dial application can act flaky and start drawing itself off-screen, which can trigger an error. One workaround is to dial a single number, then rotate the screen, which forces a redraw, after which it functions properly.
The VGA HTC Home plugin could be in slightly better shape. The TabSetting registry entry doesn't seem to work (or at least nobody's responded to me here yet), and the Profile tab shows a keyboard vibration option that, naturally, doesn't work.
The enlarged start menu has some icon overlap on 128 dpi.
The nifty System Status popup on 96 dpi seems to trigger just to the left of the connectivity indicator, while not triggering on the connectivity or signal strength indicators. It does work, just a little strangely on the other dpi settings.
Sym-A now generates the _ character instead of the $ character. (Added July 11, 2008)
Reported issues/concerns:
Some users are reporting an initialization infinite loop. The new ROM (updated July 11, 2008) might fix this; please report if it's still broken for you. (Added July 11, 2008)
During phone calls, the number keypad is active instead of the alphabetic keyboard. (Added July 11, 2008)
Miscellaneous notes:
Most users would probably call this ROM both bloated and underfeatured. Seemingly contradictory, yet true. It probably includes things that you don't care about (a lot of users couldn't care less about BubbleBreaker and Solitaire, for example), yet doesn't include things you do (like maybe a better task manager). That's not the point of this ROM. The whole point of the kitchen is so that you can take things out that you care nothing about, and put in what you do care about. I'll be doing the same myself.
This ROM has all .rgu files deleted, and only a single .dsm file. Although that's frequently done for "security" reasons (to prevent ROMs from being disassembled), in this case, it's more for performance reasons. Menneisys has done some testing which shows that more files in \Windows slows down system performance. Besides of which, if everything goes as planned, users will have access to this kitchen straight from me anyways.
Updates (July 11, 2008):
The new test ROM is now bundled with primary and secondary splash screens, as well as a blank extended ROM. This will hopefully address the initialization infinite loop; please report if it's still broken for you.
pimstore.dll has been replaced with a Windows Mobile 6.1 96 dpi version, doing the equivalent of what the SJ Contact Summary fix .cab did (I don't know where that pimstore.dll came from, whereas I know where the module I used came from). This fixes contact summaries in 96 and 128 dpi resolutions.
Permissions have been tweaked for *.htm files in the ROM generation .bat file. This fixes issues with reading/writing SMS.
VCommManager updated to version 0.3. The skin has been replaced with a significantly smaller .png.
Links (Updated July 11, 2008):
Currently for SPL 3.5 only (I haven't tested SPL 1.2, and for the final ROM, swapping out the OS.nb for an SPL 1.2 version and updating the ROM folder for the XIP should be sufficient):

Feel free to ask questions! I'll answer what I can.

I've been testing some of the ROMs posted in this forum in order to use one of them as base for my own personalized ROM.

I think that in order to release a kitchen I think that is better to keep all the .dsm and .rgu files, so the people can choose what packages to keep or remove. Is there any tool that merge all the rgu/dsm in one before cooking? This would be the best option.
sounds really good,
a software-combination from the new devices combined in Athena (Ameo).
If the operating system is english or not is not the biggest iisue for me; but I couldn't use a german keyboard with an english keyboard driver...

AND - if I find that the new version is not so good for me, could I go back to the original Version (t-mobile german WM6) ?
btw: do you support with this rom ms voice command too ?
Great
Seems intereting and promising...just want to know, if you would be able to avail this rom for both spl's 1.2 & 3.5.

Answering myself: Yes, there are tools to merge all the packages in a ROM (I suppose that is was a stupid question, sorry, but I'm learning to cook ROMs).
For example, buildos+packagetools4.2b3 from ervius can do it automatically.
I have been using this tool to learn how to cook ROMs. Attached to this post
is .bat files that allow you to use buildos+packagetools4.2b3 to extract/build ROMS from/for the Athena.
Only for SPL 1.2???

One question about SPL versions: As far as I understand (as I said before I,m quite new on cooking), the diference between a ROM for SPL 1.2 or SPL 3.5 is in the XIP used. The ROMs for SPL 3.5 are based on AP4/AP5 (or takes the XIP from them), while ROMs for SPL 1.2 are based on old WM6 oficial ROMs. Is that right? Is there no problem for using a XIP form WM6 and a SYS from WM6.1?
thanks in advance

What was stated above that the XIP is the XIP from AP 5.0 beta, does this mean that this rom is for spl 3.5? Can some one help me answering this question.
unable to send a text or email message
Hello
Just trying the new rom and found that i am unable to send an email or text message. If I press "menu" and then "new" nothing happens.
Also the contacts details page is coming up blank. I can confirm that this can be fixed by implementing the SJ Fix_Summary_Contact.cab file found in various places.

Alex,
What spl is this rom for?
Cheers
I would be interested in a version that can be used with SPL 3.50, and the ability to start with a base (yet complete) WM6.1 is what I have been really looking for (while the Manilla stuff looks really cool it was not intended for the Athena hence the stability issues, I could live without it). This project looks very interesting.

.NET 2.0 and not .NET 3.5 because .NET 2.0 is what ships as part of the Windows Mobile 6.1 SYS. It's not that hard to roll a .NET 3.5 OEM package; I'm sure you'd be able to find one without too much difficulty.

There is a tool that merges all the .dsm files into one and deletes the .rgu files post-registry generation while generating the ROM (Bepe made one). That's what I'm using. In the kitchen itself, there are all of the different SYS and OEM folders you'd expect. But it looks like you found that on your own too.

The operating system is WWE at the moment. If you have access to all of the German folders (I know WWE is 0409; I don't know what German is), it would be pretty easy to go through and replace the folders. Replacing the keyboard itself might be possible; I don't know for sure. If nothing else, the advantage of a kitchen is that you'd be able to try it yourself.
This is an SPL 3.5 ROM at the moment, so the only way you'd be able to go back to the T-Mobile German WM6 ROM would be by downgrading back to SPL 1.2 first. It's possible, although I understand a bit involved.
Any ROM should be able to run MS Voice Command. I actually have an OEM package sitting around so that MS Voice Command can be built into a ROM; if I were to release that OEM package, though, it would have certain files missing that users would need to re-add themselves, as it's a commercial product.

its not the fastest rom but its stable and most important i got the data connection working under spl 1.2 ..... just an awsome job i am going to do a little more testing and with sogarth's permission i will release it for spl 1.2 the only thing i will add is uc compliant and the rest will be untouched.

Well, I wasn't aiming for fastest, as I said. That gets to be the experimentation later.
Feel free to release an SPL 1.2 version if you want, although if everything works out, I'll be releasing a kitchen that would be able to generate either, depending on the OS.nb it's built with.

As far as I know, that's correct. Ideally, you'd have have an XIP that matches your SYS (down to the build level), but there isn't a huge difference between WM6 and WM6.1, so that would be fine. Even better would be if you could port an XIP, but I've been having a few problems with that.

Just trying the new rom and found that i am unable to send an email or text message. If I press "menu" and then "new" nothing happens.
Also the contacts details page is coming up blank. I can confirm that this can be fixed by implementing the SJ Fix_Summary_Contact.cab file found in various places.

Hmm... for the first, that's odd. I'll have to look into that, since I'm not sure what could be causing that.
For the second, I thought I'd gotten that working, but I guess I hadn't. *sigh* I'll take care of that, although I'd like to know why that's happening, too, since I'm using WM 6.1 96- and 128-dpi resource files. Unless it's something other than that?

The microdrive mounted as MicroDrive2 , [another folder is prescent called microdrive with a my documents folder with default "stuff". Not sure if this is just me.. can anyone else check this please..

Hmm... I'd suggest deleting MicroDrive and doing a soft reset, which should fix it. I would have freaked if that happened to me every time with this ROM.
I'll admit that as part of setup, the ROM does copy stuff to your microdrive (demo files for HTC Album, which the HTC Diamond ROM seems to like to do). It's pretty easy to disable, but I figured I would leave it in for the base ROM (since to be honest, I personally hate it when kitchen developers "tweak" packages, since I want to know that what I'm working with is relatively untouched).
i can confirm that i can recieve text messages but i can't view them except for when it first pops up in the bubble. there is a dll file missing i think

New Rom - Beta though

It's my first WM6.1 cook, so you have been warned, this was done for a friend at work who has a Nike, I have a Kaiser (and a Pro on order) so can't test this directly (well I do I just nick his phone while at work).
This Rom's got some differences (he wanted it this way) so if you don't like, don't use
It's 20755.1.4.0 so you need the latest radio 1.71.09.xxx - (http://rapidshare.com/files/151166468/RUU_Nike_Radio_1.71.09.01_25.75.40.02k.rar.html)
Has the latest D3D drivers in it
As for Apps, here's the list
Manila 2D (Black Vista Theme)
HTC Touch Keyboard (original not the Opal or Diamond ones)
Manila 2D customizer 0.11.133
Office 2007
QuickMenu 2.7
WinRar
Total Commander
Diamond Calc
Google Maps
Opera (2392)
Flash 3.1
Adove 2.5
S2U2 1.22
Camera 6.04
All the HTC apps for Manila 2D (like Album and whatnot)
Advance Config tool 3
PHM Regedit
Pim Backup
WM5 Storage 1.8 (not sure if it works)
Then a couple of tweaks for performance etc in the reg.
Let me know if you like, or not.
Download at NOT AVAILABLE AT THE MOMENT - CHECKING FOR ISSUES AND WILL RE-POST (please don't batter it)
Sounds interesting.
Could you post some screenshots, please?
How much storage is left after flashing?
Thanks
No idea as I don't have a Nike around to try it, and did not think to check before giving him his device back. I'll look Monday though if you like.
WMStorage and Camore 6.04 will not work on niki
Did not realise the 6.8 camera will not work, it works fine on my Kaiser (hence the reason I dropped it in this ROM), I will check it out on Monday and see what the issues are as it definetly loads, but just looking through the thread it seems that it wont take a shot. I'll look into it and see if it can be persuaded to function as the hardware platform for the Nike is not a million miles from the Kaiser's.
as i know, 6xx utils doesn't work on devices with 2mpx camera...
P.S. i'm looking for dead/brocken kaiser in china, i wanna put 3mpx camera to my niki , may be it will work after radiom rom flashing and changing camera utility

How to remove HTC shell and stuff

Hi,
I am glad the Mega is getting some more attention from the forum.
Is it possible to install a clean windows mobile ROM without the HTC stuff.
I actually like the new standard zune-ish UI and would like to get rid of the HTC stuff.
Is that possible, eg. hard reset next soft reset during reboot of HTC progs?
anybody any ideas?
thx again
At the moment, you can't,because HardSpl doesn't exist for this model yet.Without HardSpl you can't flash custom rom. You,and all of us ,must wait for hardspl. When, nobody knows...
Cheers
you can always just disable the HTC shell
@donsjon, thx but that is what i already do.
however, i suspect sometimes conflicts between audiomanager and mediaplayer.
I use the windows interface all the time but sometimes when i select the mediaplayer from the today screen, it starts playing but at the same time blocks any other wmp controls such as opening the library no opening the wmp prog from the programmes list etc. It just blocks evrything but continues to play in the background. i need to reset the device or switch to the audiomanager.
so because i prefer to continue with a clean windows ui i wld like to get rid physically of all the htc stuff.
guess i will have to wait for spl ...
You can also disbable the service entries in registry. Put for testing an ";" in it. Look at "HTCBootLaunch" an "Services", there all the modules from HTC and your
Provider.
If you want the winmo home screen alone, you can get that from
Start->settings->today-> uncheck htc touchflo and enable windows mobile default
OK to disable Manila2D, but all other HTC-Stuff running in background.
