Scroll using the ring - Touch Pro CDMA

I'm really missing the scroll wheel from the mogul/6800. Is there a way to make the ring scroll in programs that don't have it mapped (like zooming in Opera)? I'd really like to use it to scroll through e-mail. I swear that I got it to scroll once in mail for a split second while the app was still loading, but promptly stopped scrolling once it finished loading.

I know I've seen somewhere (I think over @ ppcgeeks) that there was a way to set up custom apps to use the scroll ring in other applications. I'll look again and see if I can't find it.

you can enable scrolling with the sensor using advance config. At the bottom of the list there will be an option with 5 or 6 sub options

I believe DiamondTweaks also has an option for this

I just installed the file "Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.3.cab" and I don't see any options for that in it...
Checking the other program mentioned shortly.

Yes it does. Nice app too.
Not as consistent as it should be but I am sure the developer will improve it steadily.
When I say this, I mean that u can scroll around but onceyou make a selection, you can't scroll within that selection.

In advanced config you have to add the programs that you want to scroll with manually. Open advanced config, go to menu, more settings, smarttouch, and add what ever program you like.

there are 2 programs. 1 is called gscroll and the other is called sensorscroll. gscroll is not free, but here is the link for sensor scroll: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=466377
It does shut down on random, but allows you to scroll in manilla (fav contacts, programs, text message etc)

Any suggestions for Start Menu replacement?

So I've been using QuickMenu for the longest time and I do love it,but I was wondering if there is a better Start Menu replacement that's more finger-friendly.
I have the HTC Touch, so I do realize it comes w/ the larger start menu already., but the program menu, when I choose to run a program, that program menu doesn't close automatically and I find that really annoying.
Plus, I'd like something that looks a lot slicker and utilize the finger gestures betters =D
Have you tried out ScrollLauncher? It's not a start menu replace, but it's a finger friendly program launcher. You just activate it and it lists all your programs on which you can finger flick up and down to see everything. A simple double tap launches the program. Maybe that will help a little.

Well, I'd like to have something to replace the start menu,so it needs to start when I hit the Start Menu icon, and have a similar structure to Quick Menu: Favorite programs, recent programs, Settings, and running programs, etc
Suggestion
Try:
HTC Enlarge Start Menu [eng]

A little CAB file that enlarges your start-menu for fingerfriendly use.
Will look as on the screenshot attached (thanks to google).

I already said that I have the HTC Touch with that Enlarge Start Menu. What I don't like is that when I go to programs and settings folder, and the folder doesn't automatically close after I choose to run an item from it. Plus, I'd like to have something more configurable and also shows running programs that I can close from there

They aren't finger touch friendly. I'm thinking along the lines of Schap's TouchXperience, but without all his bells and whistles, more focused on replacing the Start Menu, Programs Menu, and Settings menu. Think of what you get in Quick Menu, but more finger friendly

Wisbar Advance 3 has touch friendly features. You just need to turn them on.
You can use a combination of MortButtons and FTouch.

Can you take a screenshot of this? I've looked around, but all the Wisbar start menu pics show a cascading menu that is not finger friendly

It would be nice to have one app that does this and does not require a finger gesture to launch the start menu; I just want to hit the Start Menu and have going it from there

With WisBar Advance, you can start any program when you tap the start menu icon or window title. Or even different ones. E.g., I've configured it so that it shows the Today screen for the "start menu icon" and a MortButtons menu with the window title. And the default menu is invoked by tap&hold on the title, so I've got a backup if a development version of MortButtons hangs...

Right, but Mortbuttons is not the ideal Start menu replacement. You'd have to put in everything you want to show in it, rather than it automatically showing what's under the Start Menu folder in your system. Plus, what about the Control Panel?
Imagine the Wisbar Advance cascading Start Menu but a lot more finger friendly. That's what I'm looking for

You can add both the start menu folder and the control panel as entries (CP requires new beta). So you can do a MortButton menu with your most used apps, and include "usual" start menu and control panel as submenus.
Do you know SKMenu?
I use it for some time and I'm happy with it.
It let you customize the menus, including start menu and control panel, and create other news.
Now, in the last version, it has a full sreen mode.
Diamond oem (on this forum) has packages for smart scroling and gestures
I have noticed considerable ease scroling windows and pushing buttons with my finger.
I still use QuickMenu 2.7 Is there a newer version?
.Big Tabbed Start Menu
- When u click on menu icon a drop down big menu appear separated into 3 parts the first on containing last running Programs
Second one .. contain tabs for programmers folders when user click on any a down menu appear show Program Icons
a third part is for setting contain 3 tabs .. (Personal - System - Connection) When member click on any a menu appear contain the Icons ..somethng like this
I am also looking for something like this. I used wisbar, but since there are no nice VGA skins + it slows down the ppc a lot I am looking for an replacement. Anything new on this?
well all you guys want (as I do) is quickmenu..... with bigger font size.
Maybe someone could have a look into its dll see if something can be done.
Or email nanling (I think) to ask him to get a doubled version out ?
err I know it's been a while but if anyone's still interested, there's FdcSoft StartMenu
this menu is HUGE

disable full screen mode on ADW Launcher

I am on CM7 RC1.3 (previously was on RC1) and I have had the same problem with them on both. My main dock randomly will disappear and the only way I can get it back is to restart my phone. I think it is when i open an app that request full screen access then the main dock bar never comes back. But I can't fine anywhere to disable full screen.
It's an extra place for you to put shortcuts. Disable "Hidden Dockbar" in ADW Settings if you don't want it. Either that, or play around with it until you get used to it. Dragging up from the bottom opens it and dragging down (from the top of where the dock WOULD be) closes it. It takes some people a little bit to get used to it but it is a useful feature.

well i want the main dockbar to always be there. i dont want it disappearing when i go back to the home pages. there is a "close dockbar" option which says "auto-close dockbar after app-launch" when checked. i dont want to see the dockbar when an app is open, but i do want it to be there when i close the app. but i have that disabled anyways, so that shouldnt be an issue. i did a search and saw i am not the only person that has had this problem. but options they took to fix it, i dont have for various reasons. (i.e. CM6, tablet)
the swipe up and swipe down gestures are set to none also.

Yes. I understand. What I am describing is not "auto-close dockbar". It is the Hidden Dockbar as described.
Eh, I don't use it but I just installed it so I could be more descriptive of where the setting is.
Menu->Settings->ADW Settings->UI Settings
Under the "Hidden Dockbar" section uncheck "Dockbar".

Those are completely different than what I am referring to. If the "Hidden Dock" is enabled then swiping up from the bottom of the main dockbar will open it and swiping down from the top of the extended dockbar (imagine where the top of the main dock bar would be if it was there) will close it. I'm not sure how to explain this any better.
I'm sure you can set a hide/unhide the Hidden Dock as a icon shortcut, softkey shortcut, and/or swipe gesture as well if you want to keep it and that is more convenient.
Ok, I had checkmark on Dockbar. I took it off. I'll let you know how it works. Thanks.

JB / MeanBean: any way to change gmail font size?

The ability to make the font larger seems to have disappeared...

thanks.
It looks like the answer to this is no.
The next question is does anyone know how to revert to a prior version of Gmail? One where you can adjust the font size?

Open Gmail and select settings then general settings. You have 2 options here, you can place a check mark in the "Auto-fit Messages" option and then use pinch to zoom to enlarge text. Or you can uncheck the box and then the text will be larger but you will have to scroll side to side sometimes.
Also, you can go into the main settings page, and under display, gestures and buttons and increase the font size there. But that will increase the fonts on your whole phone.

Thanks for the reply. The issue with the auto-fit/pinch zoom is that it does not automatically reflow the text, so you have to either scroll back and forth (!!) or double tap. THIS IS WAY LESS ELEGANT than simply enabling a larger default font size, and is a lot more work. *reminds me of a blackberrry, where you have to hit 10 buttons in order to be able to see a properly formatted html message. Not good.*
Overall it is clunky now. So the question is, why remove the functionally in the first place?!? It's a dumb step backward.

[Q] Missing apps in 'Share via' menu

I just installed the stock deodexed Jelly Bean ROM and I've run into a weird problem. I have GMail, Facebook, Evernote, etc installed, but they don't show up as options in the 'Share via' menu in Chrome and other apps. All I get in the 'Share via' menu are four options: Astrid Tasks, Bluetooth, chomp SMS, and Dropbox. I've tried reinstalling Chrome and the various other apps that I would like to have in the menu, but no luck. All apps show up just fine in the Gallery app's 'Share' menu, but I think that menu is specific to Gallery since it's an HTC app, not a native Android app. Anyone know how to edit the "Share via" menu or how I can get these missing options to show up?

Wow. I can't believe how dumb I am. I was going through the XML files, looking for where the share menu config settings might be. It simply didn't occur to me that the menu might be scrollable since it occupied such a small portion of the screen. D'oh. Thanks a million.
In any case, I did find an app with a good workaround for my non-existent problem:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andmadesoft.share&hl=en
The purpose of this app is that it lets you replace the standard share menu with a customizable share menu in which you can select multiple sharing options at once.

What would be the use of that? D:
An app that makes it possible to run mobile webapps full screen, kind of like the way the latest chrome beta can do, but for any site.
An keepass app with synchronization built in, and on top of that an internal Web browser, so you can have actions like "copy password" and "copy username" right there. Kind of the way 7 pass does it (on Windows Phone)
Nanaca crash, a simple flash game where the object is to throw a person as far as you can, kind of like "hit crazy frog" kind of game but a hit more advanced. Requires just one button so that would be perfect for Android smartphones.

Oh that's not what I understood. I guess the idea would work if the processing was quick enough and the picture high resolution enough. But front facing cameras are none of the above.
Thanks for your current suggestions, let me see more !

I have an App Request too
An On-Screen Floating Object-Oriented Toolbar, with Back, Home, Menu, & Directional keys, + additional keys depending on active screen or current app
including a 'cycle-through elements' button then hit enter on the one you want to activate
things that can be done with your thumb from one small location.
then tap & hold contracts it into a smaller set of buttons
and you can select the number of buttons & their default positions for both the expanded state and the compacted state.
so it could be used to navigate around programs, select different elements, or used as a game controller, or keypad enhancement, or enhanced navigation etc
