Quite a while back i read somewhere that it worked best for wm6 when you resize/crop the pictures to 77x106. Though i dont know if that still works for wm6.1

I have no idea what version I am running. How do I find out? Also, how do I update it? I tried to search, but only seem to get results for Windows Mobile Professional devices.

Can you please extend your answer, I think you are right and it can be a good solution. But the question, which canvas will be good to use and how to implement it.

Contact photo
I played with it for a while. The best for all purposes seems to be 256x256 px. For picture quality is important to attach the photo in phone, not in computer.

Hi,
but it won't solve the problem. What if all photos are attached in the outlook for synchronization. Have you tried to do it in other way?

That's the problem. If the photo is attached in computer Outlook, during next synch with the phone it "converts" photos some strange way - downgrades the resolution and resizes it. If you attach photo in the phone, it's normally copied back to the computer Outlook without any problem and does dont interfere.

still doesn't solve the problem. All the contacts have their photos in outlook since 3-4 years when I got first windows mobile phone. Then there was some HP, HTC S710 and now HTC S740 and the problem appears. Older phones does not having this problem. And the solution should be on the phone/os side, not attaching all photos from contacts once more.
Because with some resync with active sync it can resync in other way and the problem appears.

For incoming call the systems is using a picture called background.png and background_L.png (landscape or portait. Both can be found in the map windows) In this picture there is a "hole" that is 90x90. The incoming call picture will show up behind these system pictures. If they are bigger than the 90x90 format only this 90x90 will be shown. Make the "hole" bigger might solve the "problem"

I tried to chnage some of the pictures to the 90 pixels. It doesn't help. It does not show correctly in the incoming/active phonecall window.

[Q] Yahoo Video chat issues

I have installed the leaked yahoo messenger with the Video chat add on from XDA post.
I have tried to connect with another PC, that didn't work
I have tried with an iPhone4, I can receive the call, but once I accept the call, it goes to a blank screen. I can't make any outgoing calls.
Even when the video comes on, its all distored and you cant even see the video.
I have The Samsung Vibrant with Tmobile rooted. does anybody have any ide about fixes or suggestions ??????
I can't get logged in at all. I have tried my screen name as well as my wives and get the message that there have been too many log in attempts and log in has been temporarily disabled.
it seems like u might be having issues with logging in to yahoo messenger for some reason ... try to log in to the full site on a pc or something to make sure that the yahoo account hasn't been deactivated or something ...
Mine works fine, and I can start video call, but transmission of video doesn't take place, its distorted ....
I hope somebody can find a fix for this, I need it to see my family who live across the globe

Blurry contact pictures

Well, folks, I searched, and the last comment on blurry pictures was in December 2010. And another is on HD2 General with no replies.
I am on AT&T with a debranded X10a, and since I debranded in December and upgraded to 2.1 Generic NAM, the caller ID pictures would show up blurry. On 1.6, that could be solved by reassigning the picture afresh (after reloading a contacts backup). This did not work on 2.1.
Until the latest upgrade. I just got the upgrade from SEUS last night (build 2.1.A.0.435). The pictures on the caller ID were blurry. Editing the contact and touching on the picture and selecting "set as contact picture" on the pop-up menu did not change anything. So I went into Mediascape and navigated to the said contact's picture on the SD card, and reassigned to contact. Voila! I dial the contact, and an HD picture shows up on the ID! Grrrreat!
Note: It doesn't matter what you used to backup your contacts. I had saved my contacts to the SD card, then reloaded the .VCf card. No need to sync with Google. But if you do, just reassign picture from the "Library"
I hope other people searching on this problem will find this a useful hit for their querry.

Yep! like he said, u need 2.1.A.0.435. The earlier build does not work. reassigning picture on oder build only makes it a little les blurry, but stil blurry. so, use SEUS or PC Companion to update to 2.1.A.0435, then reassign pictures to contacts from the Mediascape library.
That works for contact pics saved on SD but not for contact pics that are using Facebook pics, they're still blurred. Any suggestions for that?
The worst story of this is, after you backup and restore using any known method (except for xRecovery I guess), you will end up with blurry pictures again!!
please Help

[Q] SMS Contact Lookup Crashes Message

Hi,
I'm running a HTC HD2 with Windows Mobile 6.5 running ROM 3.14.110.1 WWE.
Recently, whenever I try to send an SMS and type the contact's surname into the "To:" box - the messaging application disappears off the screen. No draft SMS is saved, and when I return to the messaging application - no evidence of the SMS is present.
If I click the Contact Lookup icon in the top right hand corner, I can manually select contacts through this method - but obviously it's a lot slower than simply typing a surname and picking out a contact.
I've tried removing my MS Exchange ActiveSync connection, and then re-establishing it after a Soft Reboot - but the problem persists.
Has anyone experienced this, and can suggest a fix?
Regards,
Richard Tubb.
Im glad I'm not the only one this happens too, I just thought it must be my fat fingers pressing the wrong buttons....
Sorry I cant help but will be watching to see if there are any helpful hints on how to fix this error..
How many text messages have you got. . . . Coz when i was getting this and after a hard reset, I didn't restore my test message and the problem want away.
Don't now as never found a solution yet.

Very annoying contacts issue

Hi guys
I have a very annoying issue. I am on android 4.0.3. I set up my contacts to show only phone contacts as I always have. I had sgs2 before so this is just another unit.
So, I setup a contact picture for one special contact and I can see the small thumbnail next to the name. Ooook. Now, when I call or get a call from that person the photo doesnt show. Just the regular samsung calling screen. Never happened with another unit.
Second issue is with the ringtones. No.matter what song I setup for a contact, phone only plays the general ringtone.
I dont understand what is happening. I dont want to use a 3rd party app, for such basic function.
Any idea is welcome. Thank you!

Contact picture small bug [FIXED]

Hi,
I haven't seen this posted anywhere. It is happening since the updated with LinkedIn option for contacts. When I set the contact pictures with pictures stored locally they will show up full screen. But after 1-2h they lose quality and when I receive a call the picture is small in a circle. It is very annoying as I want the full screen picture to be shown when I receive a call/ make a call.
Anyone else with this problem?
Fixed it on my xperia z3. So far, since 2 days, the problem is gone. What I did is unlink all contacts from whatsapp (you have to edit each contact and unlink from whatsapp). Set again the picture from local storage and done. Hope it works for you.
reinstall app, use a cleaner and install again.. if that dont work you can try use sony companion and use " repair my phone " that will reset all your phone and check files(do a fresh install)
ps: you go lose your data/files

what app? It is the native dialer and contacts app. Did this happened to you? I assume that yes and what you are suggesting me to do worked for you. If not, please stop posting useless instructions. My phone is stock since day one.
