Toggle 1x/Hybrid - Touch Pro CDMA

I get much better battery life if I set my phone to 1x only (since I'm in a marginal signal area).
On my Verizon Touch Pro, I can change between 1x and hybrid in phone->menu->options->services->mode of operation->get settings as long as this is set first
HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting to 0
As you can see, it's a bit of a pain to change it back and forth. The change does take place immediately though (no reset or anything needed, it's just instantaneous).
I'd be extremely grateful if someone who knows how to do this stuff could look into creating an .exe file that would just toggle between the 2 settings when clicked.
Anyone?

Anyone have any ideas about this?
I can't imagine it's that hard. Maybe just need to locate the correct reg setting?
I have tools that can toggle wifi and bluetooth on and off.
I'd absolutely love a tool that would allow me to toggle between 1x only and hybrid by just running the exe.
EDIT: I'm getting close!
I searched the registry for hybrid and it came up in
HKLM/System/OEM_State/RSSI
If the UI is set to 1x, the entries in there are set as follows:
CSAF = 2
Hybrid_Ind = 0
SysType = 2
If the UI is set to Hybrid, the entries in there are set as follows:
CSAF = 4
Hybrid_Ind = 1
SysType = 3
BUT, if I just edit those entries in the registry, nothing happens.
So, either there are more registry entries or making the change in the UI starts/stops a service.
There's got to be an easy way to do this.
Any help is appreciated.

Any ideas anyone?

Just write a mortscript.

That's not a bad idea, though I suspect it'll still be slower than having a program make the appropriate change to the device internally.
I have no idea how to program a mortscript (though I do have mortscript installed and am using it for something else).
Is it basically just like a macro?
I guess I need something to first run the phone application, then hit menu soft key, then select options, then hit the services tab, then choose mode of operation, then have something where if the radio button for hybrid is currently selected, select 1x only and if 1x only is current, select hybrid, then ok, then ok, then close the phone application.
Can anyone help with that or at least help me get started?

If anyone can help, I'm still looking for an answer here.
Thanks!

today plugin to switch between WCDMA and gsm

Hi.
My battery drains very quickly in my area (HSDPA). But if i force GSM then the battery lasts two or three days and i only need hsdpa 3 or 4 times by day, for example
20010-04-20 (V2.9)
1) The combo box that stores the model keeps the value when the program is restarted.
2) Fixed problems with owner names starting/ending with spaces.
3) other minor bugs
2009-11-27 (V2.8)
1) Compatibility with new Bluetooth Widcomm stack (HTC Touch Pro2, HTC Touch HD2, etc);
2) Compatibility to switch band with HTC Touch HD2
3) Compatibility to switch band with Toshiba TG01
4) switching is faster because now I dont turn radio off, just unregister and register from network. No need to enter automatically PIN code too.
2007-09-25 (V2.4.2)
Compatibility with Kaiser
Changes in 1.2.3:
Fix a bug in 1.2.1-1.2.1. Auto mode didnt work properly and switch delay action too.
Changes in V1.2.2 :
Some GSM operators intercepts http not found requests and redirects to help pages. It can cause unknown effects on bandswith who tries to look for the version number in the response stream.....
Changes in 1.2.1:
Buffer overrun bug in devices with very long radio manufacturer name (caused bandswitch fall).
Bandswith now detects if is running on WM5 or WM6 so now only switch twice if switching from GSM to UMTS band in WM6 devices. So now one only version for WM5 and WM6
Dual line support with two pin codes.
If the password(s) is/are incorrect the device will sound and vibrate and show Pin Page.
Pin enable user: remember to enter pin(s) again after reinstall.

I know that i can do it in phone/options/band but it's very boring. Can someone help me?. If now i will write a little program (today plugin) and i will post it.

Cool Idea.
This is shouldnt be that difficult to achieve...
Use SetHSDPA.exe and link it to the Wireless Manager today plugin. Then everytime you tap the wireless plugin it then turns on/off the HSDPA functionality?
AFAIK band selection can be done changing a setting in registry, so this can be done with mortscript.
1. google SKSchema... it's a program which will allow you to do this (it's not free, but i think the price is awesome for what you can do with it), and download it.
2. Download these scripts that someone else made...
3. Drop the scripts in the \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\sScripts directory
4. Go to your phone's Settings, and choose Menu
5. Scroll down and select any of the new scripts (I am personally using the toggle script).
**alternatively, you can assign a button to it
***additionally, I use this program's Soft Reset feature to automatically soft reset my phone at 5 in the morning to make sure that when i get up in the morning the phone had a chance to reboot and has a fresh start...
hope this helps!

Does this solution allow you to switch between 'U' and 'G' on the fly? Meaning it does not need to close one connection to achieve the other and vice-versa.
as far as i can tell from the script it turns on flight mode, toggles between 3g/Edge, depending on which one you had originally when the script was run (by changing the registry settings), and then turning flight mode off...
your phone will search for signal as it normally would...
the whole process takes about 20-25 seconds.
Give skschema a try. They have a trial, so you can try before you get it if you decide to get it. There is also a Today plugin, although i've never used it, so i can't give any input as to how good it is.
in my experience with the phone, any time you change the band selection the phone goes into flight mode
The program is finished and working
Ok. The program is finished.
1) Put it in rom.
2) Create a shortcut and put it in \windows\startup directory.
3) Then you will see a circle icon at botton.
. White circle means Auto mode.
. Green circle means GPRS mode (2g).
. Red circle means UMTS/HSDPA mode(3g).
Tapping this icon a window is showed and you can click one of the next buttons:
auto: Sets auto mode.
GSM: Sets gsm mode.
UMTS: Sets 3g mode.
Close: closes the program.
Then the registry key \\SOFTWARE\\OEM\\UMTS\\OpMode is changed and the radio is reseted. And thats all.
Enjoy it...

That is not necessarily true. If you go into the Band tab to change the selection, it does not need to go into flight mode. It simply disconnects and reconnects with the new selection.
new option
Hi. I ve added a new option.
To avoid forget to switch back to gprs after use hsdpa, when you tap on UMTS appears a dialog about "limit time" with options:
no: No limit
1, 5, 30, 60, 120: After x minutes the system switch back to gprs.
There was a problem cleaning the notification when the app exits......
New release....
Thnx loads. I'll give it a try.
Thanks
danielherrero,
Great job, it's working on my 8525. It's just what I needed thanks.
You' re wellcome....
Thank you. Going to put it on my 8525 as they roll out 3G here in the US I think this will come in very handy.
Take Care!
Weekend App
Well done!!! Thanks...This app works great.
This is my weekend app. As soon as the weekend starts I put the phone into GSM mode only. Battery life is far better. I don't need UTMS on the weekends....when i do....2 clicks and I'm in UTMS...2 more and I'm back to GSM.
I love this plugin! cant get easier to switch auto -> umts, and umts -> auto! thanks!!

Touch Pro Pop Up On Screen Keyboard

How do I make this feature go away when in landscape mode and I am using the slider? Help!!!
Ummm, hit the keyboard icon right below the onscreen keyboard?
I want it to permanently stay down unless I tell it to pop up. It shouldn't pop up if the slider is out.
null keyboard. should solve the problem (i had it installed on my treo, and i think it should work fine on the TP)
http://discussion.treocentral.com/archive/index.php/t-129200.html
NullKB
While NullKB is the best on-screen keyboard fix I have seen, it's also the ONLY fix I have seen. I have been using it since I had the Sprint HTC Mogul. After installing on The Touch Pro, it tends to keep the KB at bay inconsistently. I am not sure if it stops working automatically upon soft reset but I wish it would control this issue unless otherwise directed.

I have never seen that option in Advanced Config.
I will check today to confirm.
I hate touching my phone while sharing internet, They always get cranky and it turns off for some reason.
Null keyboard works. Yay 4 Jugs rom has it built in.
I think he had a newer version then mine. Mine would just load a white box and stay up, His loads the box for a moment, then never comes back. But the bar will come up when its trying to deploy the keyboard.
This one has pissed me off for ages too. Just another one of those things Microsoft should have fixed several versions ago.
I dont think its nessarly their thing.
The dev's just are not writing something in to the phone to tell it to not put the keyboard up when you dont want it.
I dont think its a windows mobile thing at all.
Just remember, what devs think and what actuall users think are tottaly different.
We like no irritations unless we ask for them. They are thinking "well this would be good if the keyboard poped up here right now"
The other problem though with the OSK is that as soon as you bring it up, by accident, or purpose, it will pop up for everything after that. That is the one that bugs me the most.
----
Okay, I checked advanced config, and the option is there, i set it to disabled. Haven't tested it yet.
Working out another issue with standby at the moment.
Sarinhighwind,
Please let us know if the advanced config changed, worked. The on screen keyboard on my Sprint TP, pops up when I go into landscape mode, and then when I start to type using the slider key pad it disappears.
I don't want it to pop up at all.
Thanks.

Just checked, I forgot to earlier.
It does NOT work.
Like a lot of Advanced config features do not at the moment.
I used AC 3.3
The latest as I know of. Or maybe its 3.2 Whatever it was a few days ago when the TP came out.
This one has annoyed me as well... Using AC 3.2 it works well for me, the SKB does not deploy but it required a soft reset before it would work...
I use version 3.3 and it works fine for me. No more keyboard pop up here.
As above. YES you must do a soft reset before it works.
i see u guys arent recommending advanced config on the htc touch pro cdma .. is there one currently that is better... to change startup pick.. change soft key buttons....change order of tabs on tf3d
Another version of this question: how do I make the pop-up icon appear on every screen? (It does not appear on the today screen, for example).
you would use Diamond Tweak
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip]"TurnOffAutoDeploy"=dword:00000001
If you make this entry into the reg it turns it off most of the time, in opera doesn't work
I know this is an old topic but I was looking for a solution for my Verizon XV6850 Touch Pro and Diamond Tweak worked for me (on SSK's 2.1.1 rom) but it's the same thing your gonna have to soft reset.
This was most annoying for me because it would pop up when making calender appointments for drop down menus. If you have a drop down why do you need to type in the time???
Anyway it worked like a charm just go down to keyboard (popup) and select disable and you'll be set

Is there a REG Tweak that tells it to always start in 123 mode? My keyboard is stuck in 123 mode and won't switch when I press the abc button on the screen keyboard...

Registry Edits
Disable start-up sound / change it -
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation] Rename both 'StartupGif' and 'StartupWav' to new values, or leave blank to disable.
Increase your screen's sensitivity.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\TouchPanel] change PressureThreshold. Default is 37 Decimal, it is reported 240 decimal is a good new value for this.
You can disable auto-wakeup when keyboard is opened.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Hardware\DeviceMap\Keybd] Create new dword "SlideWakeup" with value of 0 and soft reset. To revert, delete the key or set it's data to 1.
Change the soft keys on the home screen.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila], change HomeLSKPath and HomeRSKPath. HomeLSKText/HomeRSKText = the text.
Increase TouchFlo's sensitivity, so you don't have to push as hard to scroll.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings] increase FingerPressure. Default is 16. I am having good luck on 128, I may raise it higher. Higher = more sensitive, lower = less sensitive.
**Only confirmed for Sprint (From me, I'm sure other carriers are different)**
Hack Internet Sharing to work:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing] Delete Extension key, set/create MaxCMCon=0 (decimal). [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings] Set ForceCellConnection="Sprint"
You can make your phone stop making noise when you enable/disable the radio.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction \CDMA\FlightModeOnOff] and change Sound_on and Sound_off to desired sound, or blank for no sound.
Enable/Disable mute call when phone is flipped over -
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PHONE] Set FaceDownMuteRing=1 to enable, or =0 to disable.
Disable SMS Sent Notification:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settin gs] Set SMSNoSentMsg to 1
I just copied a few things that I have used frequently. Here are the links to two threads that have the info posted above. Please click the "Thanks" button for both Baffles and iTouch24. They took lots of time making these useful threads.

How about this: Post any Reg Edit that is not already in Adv. Cfg, DTweak, or TF3D Cfg. Most if not all of these are already in those programs.
How about this.....post everything in one spot so people do not have to search through 10 different threads.
I'm calling for the assistance of anyone knowledgeable in registry hacks. I was looking through the entire registry and came across a key that I thought may prove rather useful to a reg hacker. [HKLM->System->State->Phone] and the DWORD to look for is Signal Strength and Signal Strength Raw. I tried changing the value of Signal Strength from 10 to 500 and didn't notice a change. I own the XV6850, verizon's touch pro, and was wondering if it would maybe have an effect if I changed the values and then dialed *228 opt.2 to update roaming list? would someone look into this and see if this might be useful?

Id like to know about this too. Itd be nice if we could boost the signal strength a little bit because I have noticed a drop since I switched over to the touch pro. If its not possible by registry then what could we do to increase the signal strength?

The following do not reset the keyboard after sending message. What that means is that as you type and the software is doing the word complete, after sending, the word complete dialog still shows on the screen for the last word typed.
16 - Icon and No KB Reset
17 - Icon, Audio and No KB Reset
18 - Icon, Vibrate (SSS) and No KB Reset
19 - Icon, Audio, Vibrate (L) and No KB Reset
20 - Same as 16
I stopped trying values when I got to 20 since from 16 on they appeared to be the same as 0-15 but with the KB issue I mention above. Also, all the S's and L's represent quantity and length of the vibrations. I tried each setting about 10 times and 3 of the 10, the last vib was opposite of what I show. In most cases though, it did as I show above.
After I found these, I did a search and found that a few others had found and posted the above as well. So I wasn't the first, but I did find it on my own.
Enable Roaming Only option
Some networks may already have this enabled already, but Sprint didn't by default.
[HKLM\Software\OEM\InitProv\PhoneSetting] change ItemCount
Change from 2 to 3, save and soft reset. After it reboots, simply goto,
This will add a third option called Automatic-B which is Roaming Only in disguise. To switch from Sprint Only (or your network only) to Roaming Only, goto the following,
Start > Settings > Personal > Phone > Services > Roaming
Again, the location is on my phone which is a Sprint Touch Pro, so the exact location under the Start button may be different for your network.
Also be aware that some networks frown upon more roaming minutes then standard minutes so be aware of which setting you are currently running.
I found this over at PPCGeeks.com

I've heard of horror stories of Sprint dropping customers for roaming over half the time. I guess their reasoning is, if they are roaming that much, they'd be better off with a different carrier.
Yeah, I switch mine quite a bit, but no way near half the usage. But it's definitely something to be aware of if you use the function. The sad thing is, allot of Sprint phones have it available by default. I was at a Sprint store the other day and just walked down the line checking each phone they had. The majority of them add the function available.

i was wondering if anyone knew how to get the xv6850, verizon's htc touch pro, to force roaming because i tried this hack and it didn't work. this would be really nice to do if i could switch networks while at home cause i get barely any signal in my apt.
When you went to the registry location, you may or may not have seen several different ItemName options. For instance, on my phone there were the following,
ItemName1 = Spring Only
ItemName2 = Automatic
ItemName3 = Automatic-B
ItemName4 = StandardYours may differ by having more or less then what I show or they could be in a different order. Also, take a look at the following location and see what ItemName entries exist. It may be listed there but need to be added to the original location manually.
[HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\NetworkService]
If you only have 2 ItemName entries listed, then you could add the third by doing the following,
Change the ItemCount from 2 to 3
ItemCount = 3add the following String and Dword to this second location if not already present,
ItemName3 = STRING(Automatic-B)
ItemValue3 = DWORD(3)Then change the ItemCount in the first location to 3
ItemCount = 3and add the following String and Dword to the first location,
ItemName3 = STRING(Automatic-B)
ItemValue3 = DWORD(3)
But let us know what values you currently show in both locations and we can probably figure it out.
Again, I got all this information from the PPCGeeks thread I mentioned previously.

i tried ur method for my phone and now i have a permanent unread email notification and every time i soft reset my phone the itemvalue2 is set to 4 and i have to change my network service to automatic manually. not only that but the changes that i added to the registry aren't even visible for me to alter or remove anymore after i did the soft reset. do you have a solution for this before i have to hard reset??
if you can post your registry backup to a post that i can download, i might be able to restore it but only if you have the verizon htc touch pro xv6850. if you don't have it please try to find it for me because it would be a huge pain for me to have to do a hard reset.

Unfortunately, I have the Sprint Touch Pro, so my registry would not be compatible with yours. Were you able to delete the additions you made or did you simply change a value of one of the entries?
If it helps, these were the settings I had at the following locations;
[HKLM\Software\OEM\InitiProv\PhoneSetting]
ItemCount = DWORD(3) <-- Only thing I had to change on my phone, from 2 to 3)
ItemName1 = STRING(Sprint Only)
ItemName2 = STRING(Automatic)
ItemName3 = STRING(Automatic-B)
ItemName4 = STRING(Standard)
ItemValue1 = DWORD(1)
ItemValue2 = DWORD(4) <-- Yes 4 (don't know why)
ItemValue3 = DWORD(3)
ItemValue4 = DWORD(4)
ServiceName = STRING(Roaming)
ServiceTitle = STRING(Phone: Roaming)
[HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\NetworkService]
ItemCount = DWORD(3)
ItemName1 = STRING(Sprint Only)
ItemName2 = STRING(Automatic)
ItemName3 = STRING(Automatic-B)
ItemValue1 = DWORD(1)
ItemValue2 = DWORD(4) <-- Yes 4 (Again, not sure why)
ItemValue3 = DWORD(3)
ServiceName = STRING(Roaming)
ServiceTitle = STRING(Phone: Roaming)
Hope this helps. If still a problem, I'm gonna edit the thread above and remove the edits and direct people to the PPCGeeks thread instead.
yeah the issue is that the additions i made disappeared and it won't let me change the settings back the way they were. i also have that annoying unread email notification on the tf3d that i'm not sure how that got there.

maybe by changing something in the registry would help..
there MUST be a way. ever noticed the short vibration when switching the phone on.
somehow it should be possible to edit it
yup and I'm pretty sure that it can be done by editing the registry..
hey there, after a bit of searching on the net i found something that might help us out.
i found the registry scripts for incoming calls and sms.
if you go to HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\
youll find a entry called script
this entry describes the phone's action on an incoming call. if your phone is in "Normal" profile mode the script should be "av0pw3r"
the letters stand for the following commands:
a - start loop
v - vibration in seconds (0=infinite)
p - play ringtone
w - wait "x" seconds
r - repeat loop
now the problem in this whole thing is, that this script always changes automatically to another variaton depending on your active profile.
e.g. if you switch your phone to "vibrate" profile the original code would be
"av3w3r" lets assume youd like the vibration to be active only for one second instead of three. the code would then logically be "av1w3r".
switching back to "normal" profile would set the script back to "av0pw3r" and switching once more back to "Vibrate" would still change the script into the old one "av3w3r" even if you changed it before to "v1".
i have no clue how to teach the phone to keep the changed settings but maybe someone out there would pick my idea up and try to create a tiny app for these registry keys to PERMANENTLY be edited and changed.
with sms it is pretty much the same deal.
since there is no Script entry in HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\SMS\ i simply created one in vibrate mode. its av1 for me.
the bad news with this entry is that the phone wont change it at all when switching profiles so youd have to change it manually every time youd like a different style for your incoming sms pattern (av1pr for a short vibration, then playing the sms sound, then a repeat).
this is how far ive come with my resarch about this. it would be really nice to catch some motivated programmer's attention on this topic to make the scripts change with different profiles.
greetings

A)see if you can find the registry that changes the profiles and see if u can edit vibration there.
B)If you can't change the vibration from there then :
1.find and extract the registry that switches profile to normal.
2.edit the vibration script from "av3w3r" to "av1w3r"
3.Extract the registry HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\
4.edit the sms script
5.extract the registry HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\SMS\
6.Now you have 3 registry files,merge them to 1 file using nothepad(1st the file from step 1,then from step 3,then from 5).
Do the same for each profile.
That way you will have a reg file for each profile.Now every time you want to switch between profiles just run the corresponding
reg file.
I didn't manage to find a way to edit the registry permanently...
All I've done is that I have created a ".reg" file that edits the vibration script to av1w3r...So every time after I switch a profile I run this file and vibration becomes edited...
I have added this "reg" file at the start menu and I have set a hot key for it.So I just press "button 2" and the vibrations becomes 1 second.
i couldnt find any profile settings for the scripts neither, but im glad you could at least create a alternative way, thanks a lot on this. is there a way i can add a reg entry for the sms script too?it should be something like 'v1' in meeting profile and 'v1p' in normal mode. but since originally there isnt any script for the sms the phone wouldnt change it automatically back when in normal mode so it must be edited each time switching modes thats the problem. i dont really know how to manage this without creating a second cab, but that would make the whole thig even more difficult

The best think I can think of..is making some kind of little program based on reg files..that will switch between profiles...but unfortunately I don't know how to make one...
At the moment I have just made separated reg files to edit vibration for sms and ringtone.
------------------------------
Vibration.reg:sets ringtone to av1pw1r and sms to av1
sms to av1.reg:sets sms to av1
sms to av1p.reg:sets sms to av1p
ringtone av1pw1r:sets ringtone to av1pw1r
------------------------------------------
using these you can select the vibration you like each time.

Developer Options / minimum width settings

How does this setting work?
I can decrease it and everything goes bigger, increase it and everything is smaller. I can tweak it to whatever I want, set my zoom/font and get all my apps running/looking how I want them to and then (randomly, sometimes within minutes) I'll open an app and it looks all wrong. When I check the MW it has changed. Or everything can be running smoothly and when I check the MW it has changed. And the figures keep varying, 824, 580, 600, all sorts but never the figure that I have set.
Is there something that I need to do to make the setting stick?
Why does it keep changing?
Or, how do I just reset the MW to default and start again, because everywhere I read on the Internet people quote different "default" figures and I am guessing that it's because everyone sees the question being asked, check their device and at that specific time it says XXX?
Should disabling Dev Ops reset the defaults? Or does (or should) turning off DO lock the setting at the figure last entered?
Thanks.
In fact (as I have just discovered), I can enter a figure, come out of the settings and go straight back in and the dpi is different?
