dopod 838pro - lost some button functions - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Since the little fella played with my phone - I have not been able to utilise some of my buttons on the phone.
Firstly he was playing a game - thus I thought he reconfigured the phone - so I hard reset the device
I have also pulled it completely apart - cleaned and put back together - same problem as previous
Have now reloaded its working rom from my backup version and still not functioning
I assume now its a hardware fault
Buttons not working are
Message centre (Top LHS)
IE button (Top RHS)
Start menu button
Talk button - green
Hang up button - red
OK button
Tried chasing a schematic for the phone but no cigar
Can anyone direct me as to where the likely issue may be
ie: Main board, within the headset/lcd unit
components etc on the boards
Appreciate any info re-fixing the problem
cheers

No buttons on the phone dialler screen

Hi guys,
I upgraded my phone a while back using c_shekhar's excellent ROM. I've just come back to using the phone again and after charging the phone up from completely dead I now get no buttons on the phone dialler skin. If you use the stylus where the buttons should be you do hear the keypad tones, just there are no visible buttons. I've tried several things, such as changing themes and resetting the phone (although I cant remember how to hard reset the phone) but none of this has worked. Anyone had this, or have any ideas? I did search the forum and found loads of posts on buttons and screens but nothing to help me out.
Cheers
There is a soft button (bottom left) when you are on the dial page that says keypad. Is that still there? I assume you have already checked this and pressed it, but perhaps not. It may have been renamed due to the skin you are using, removed, or perhaps you changed it yourself at some stage accidentally.
Let us know if this helps.
There is no keypad soft button. However, if I just hit random places where the buttons should be, and then press the physical call button, the phone dials the number and then the keypad soft button appears (although just the text appears, not the button itself).
Is there a way to hard reset this phone with the WM2005 ROM? I have tried what used to work on the factory installed O2 ROM (holding the power button and using the stylus to press the reset button), but this doesn't seem to do the trick as all my details and info are still there when it fires up again.
I have also taken the battery out and left it for a couple of days to let the backup battery die too. This hasn't helped.
it appers that the dialer is corrupted..try to hard reset else try other Dialer skins..search the forum's for them

[Q] Help with software and hardware problem mixed!!!

After a major fall the screen was broken.I send it and they fixed it but they broke the wifi.
i send it back and they fixed the wifi but they broke the up down volume buttons.
i opened it my self and saw that they have completely ruined it.
anyway .
i have a healthy hd2 except that the 2 volume up/down buttons dont work.
i have a software app that handles volume in wm6.
i deleted htcvolume.dll (sthing like that to fix some problems) and now my official greek rom for hd2 keeps rebooting endlessly.
cannot perform a hard reset (no keys remember?)
soft reset does nothing
any ideas? (not the style of sending it back for fixin or replacement)
before i completely screw that thing trying some weird methods to press those 2 buttons simultaneusly with the power button !!!
thanx in advance

[Q] Disable power button long press = power off ?

Hi,
When doing a long-press on the power button of my Galaxy SII, after a few seconds, it powers off. This happens whether it is locked or not, and without asking for confirmation on the screen.
I'm using a Sena leather case, which presses on the power button. Each time I put it in the case, it powers off, then it restarts, and stays on "enter SIM pin code" screen. I may have discovered a new way to switch to Airplane mode but I'd like to avoid that.
Moreover, there is a distinction between :
- long press (2 seconds) : brings the power menu (Airplane / Reboot / Switch OFF)
- very long press (approx. 8 seconds) : switches the phone OFF
Also, these two keys are active even when the phone is locked.
Here's what I would like to do : disable both the 2 seconds press and the 8-seconds press when the phone is locked
I found some threads about key remapping applications or direct edit of keymap files, but none of them were successful.
Could someone point me out an application / a way to achieve that ? Does someone know if it's ever possible ?
(For now, the only workaround I found is a hardware one : disassemble the phone and sand the power button to reduce its height, so that it stays inside the casing)
Thank you in advance. Kind regards
My old HTC Hero used to do that too, which leads me to believe it is something hard-coded into Android itself. I'd suggest there is nothing much you can do, but wait and see if a dev replies or something.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
I don't know if it's possible but if it is it has to be something in the kernel.
The 8 second power off function works the same way as the on on your PC and is used if your phone stops responding so I don't see a way to disable it with an app because it's ment to turn the phone off even if an app freezes your whole phone.
Hi,
If the 8-seconds press is hard-coded, I think precautions should have been taken to avoid unwanted power off each time you put the phone into a leather pouch !
On iPhone f/ex, you have to press both power and home button during several seconds to trigger hard reboot, which makes unwanted action hard to happen unexpectedly.
It's always frustrating to encounter such a basic problems on a $600 phone using the latest state-of-the-art technology, which powers off each time you put it into your pocket ;-)
I hoped some developer has found a way to workaround this. I googled a lot, but I didn't find anything.
So, if the power button features are hard-coded, the only solution may be to hard-remove the entire power button
Problem solved.
I disassembled the phone, I removed the power button, I carefully grinded it to reduce its height, and I put it back into the phone.
(For those who may already owned an iThing, disassembling a Galaxy SII is very easy, it's a matter of seconds with a good old mini-screwdriver; proceed carefully when grinding, because if you reduce the height too much, the buttom may break)
Now my power button height is just below the casing. It's still possible to press on it with a finger, but it does not press by itself when putting the phone into my leather pouch.
Thank you for explaining it I had an issue with my S II and it went to service to solve it, they totally changed the board and was shocked when I found the short press on power button doesn't show the power menu I used to have and it switched off immediately!
I've got to return it to service and your post made me thinking it's a simple issue! It won't take time
Regards,

Soft keys - Slow response

Hello !
A couple of weeks ago i managed to put my galaxy s3 in the wash maschine
The good news is that the phone was fully functional after i took it out of the wash maschine (data was not washed away )
The second day the soft keys as also the led behind them stop working. I opened the phone and cleaned the contacts.
After booting the phone the soft keys started to work again (not the led, but i do not care about this).
The problem now, although the buttons seem to work, they do have a really slow response sometimes. For example i notice that i can press like 5 times a second the button (back button for example) and the button response once every second only. I have noticed that this situation is kind of random. For example if i change the led duration of the soft keys or lock and unlock the phone, the buttons do respond completely fine. After i lock and unlock the phone again, the buttons again start to respond once every 1 second. Let me note here something. There is no delay in the action, meaning that i press the button and something happens after 1 second , it means that i can press the button and nothing happens, it accepts the command after 1-2 second key pressing.
First i thought that this is more like a software issue. So i tried following which none of the above seem to fix the issue:
- Reset the phone
- Installed 4.4.4 android port
- Deleted /data
Any suggestions that i could further try (except of installing a new rom again). I am kind of confused as i do not know anymore if this is a hardware or software issue.

Hello and thank you for your reply.
I am aware of this option. Unfortunately i tried this once but i do not like how some apps change (including contacts) as also how the buttons take over so much space of my screen.

Touch Keys Automatically Disabled

Hello.
I am posting here after a very long time. I am hoping to get some quick help here. I am using a Walton Primo V2 with Android 5.0 Lollipop version (picture attached).
It happened yesterday. I was using my cellphone normally, then suddenly my touch keys at the bottom of my cellphone turned dark and never worked again. It includes my Home, Back and Menu touch key. I can use the phone normally but without using the touch keys. Also, my power and volume buttons are working perfectly. I believe that the programming code has been deleted or been disabled somehow (picture attached).
Things I tried: Reboot, Power off for certain amount of time, Reset / Wipe Data Partition, searching online for solution.
After searching for solution online, I found that virtual keys software are available in playstore. I installed one of those keys software and using the phone now. What I noticed now that my touch keys (Home, Back and Menu) are lighting up but not working. Yesterdays, it wasn't lighting up or working but today after installing the virtual back, home and menu key, I see that the touch key light is up again. But when I touch the keys, the don't seem to response or work.
Please help me out here. I believe the programming code can be enabled somehow or rewritten if deleted.
Waiting for your kind responses.
Thanks in advanced
Imran
