Turn off XT9 - S740, S743 General

When I try and send a text message using the numeric keypad (rather than the QWERTY keyboard) the input defaults to XT9.
I cannot for the life of me work out where the setting is to change the default to non XT9 input.
I note their is a cab file on here to remove XT9 all together but there must be a setting somewhere.
Any clues?

Only a setting in the registry....
You need the cab ...sorry..

Changed the registry to start up with the default keyboard maybe?
REG:HKCU\keyboard layout\preload\1::text:00000409
REG:HKCU\keyboard layout\preload::text:00000409
This disables the Windows applications that start up via keyboard shortcuts.

You don't need a cab to change this. See here.

iGo Bluetooth + XT9 problem (please move to "accessoires", sorry)

hi there!
I use the iGo (Stowaway) bluetooth keyboard with the WM5 drivers on my niki300.
unfortunately, it clashes with XT9, even in ABC mode.
with XT9, typing is very slow, as i am much faster on the keyboard than XT9 is with keeping up with what i type.
whenever i switch to ABC, the bluetooth keyboard behaves like the 20key slideout keyboard in ABC mode.
for example, if i hit the Y key twice, it writes X, not YY.
has anybody any idea how to solve this? ain't it possible to disable XT9 (and its bad habits) completely for use with bluetooth keyboards?
thanks
Bernhard
update: I just found out, that i have to slide out the hardware keyboard, long press the SYM button to show the XT9 options, go to ABC and close the hardware slider again! now the stowaway behaves correctly...interesting.
maybe you wanna try this cab so that you don't have to press XT9 to oget to ABC everytime you wanna type.
Cheers
thanks tacia, I know the thread where this was posted.
actually, I wrote two little MortScripts that set the registry key to 0 or 1 and put them into the HTC home launcher.
so when i want to use the bluetooth keyboard, i launch the ABC script. when i quit using it, and i am back to using the built in hardware keyboard, where i want XT9, i launch the XT9 skript.
I can upload them here tomorrow if somebody else is interested (along with the start menu links you need to add it to the launcher).

Predictive Text Problem

I have been using the comp ime settings to get predictive text to work (i to I and contractions like dont to don't) for almost a year. Suddenly it stopped working and every time the system tried to make a fit to the text I entered the system would screw up. I would lose the ability to enter text -- the cursor would move but no text and backspace would no longer erase.
The system then slows down and needs to be rebooted to work again.
I was able to go back to the orignal registry settings for the T9 IME but lost the previous functionality.
Any ideas? Could me compime.dll file or a supporting file get corrupted ?
I think I know
I think this is an issue with your registry settings:
Backup your registry before trying this:
(MS IME)
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409
Ime FILE = \windows\compime.dll
Layout Text = COMP IME
or you can do:
(T9)
Ime FILE = \windows\eT9ime.dll
Layout Text = eT9 IME
See if this helps any. I found this information somewhere in this forum and I use this tweak to get LOGMEIN to work with keyboard. However, I believe it may just be what you need to get this going. Ultimately, go to your soft keyboard and make sure that the T9 setting is on and not on ABC.

[Q] How to change dock keyboard country/language layout?

Hi all,
i couldnt find anything on the forum about this. I have a german dock keyboard button layout, but the input is still in english. This means, that Y and Z are switched and a few other buttons, so thats quite annoying ;-)
Couldnt find a setting to change that, can someone help me out?
Cheers
By default the keyboard uses the key layout based on the system language, but you can change the key layout in the settings under language&input/configure input methods/active input methods/
Deselect "Use system language", select "Asus German(Germany) Keyboard" and deselect "Asus English(US) Keyboard" (you have to do it in this order, you can't deselect English first)
Also make sure you are using ASUS' keyboard as your input method. If you select anything else the Keyboard won't work correctly.

[Q] where the hell can I regain my QWERTY keyboard?

I know, I should have searched.
But I have searched and did not find anything usable.
I have a HTC Leo with WM6.5 and Energy Sense mod.
Recently an idiot (me probably) bewitched my keyboard. Instead of my good old QWERTY traditional keyboard i get a QW ER TY keyboard with two letters per key.
Ok. let's change the input type...
Where?
On the Sense Settings menu under Locale & Text, Text input? nothing there usable.
On the start menu? Settings? Tools? I did not find anything that worked.
Could anyone give me a hint where to retreive my good old QWERTY?
Thank you
with compact qwerty open give a quick tap offset to the right half of the keyboard icon & you should get the extended menu come up with options of Qwerty including full standard qwerty.
You can also use my attached mortscript & use the .exe to launch the script which will make the input extended menu popup.
Thank you. It was too easy... I spent hours trying to find the way...
