Adjusting Volume While Talking - Touch Pro CDMA

I have noticed that while talking on my phone if I adjust the volume using the two buttons on the side it only adjusts the "System". I notice no change in the volume from the earpiece.
Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a fix? Or am I just an idiot doing something wrong (always a possibility)?

have you installed any registry tweaks or other programs? I tried switching to the stock window dialer and lost that function and had to switch back.

If you have disabled the HTC dialer skin, then you won't be able to control volume without installing the cab in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2718080&postcount=7

I did switch to the stock dialer. Thanks for the info.

i had another ? regarding changing the volume... when i change volume up and down it increases or decreaes 3 bars at a time.. is there a way to only make it go one bar at a time....?
i remember reading a hack out there to perform this but i cannot locate....
HELP...

if you use the stylus or if you have really really pointy fingers you can select bars inbetween the 3.
.. and then i wonder why my screen is so scratched up

WM6 Buttons configuration (Ok and windows key)

Hi all,
Does anybody know how to change the windows and ok key with WM6? In WM6 it is not possible to change the features for these keys. There is a program Neotap, that allows, but it includes more modifications, it changes the red button. Anybody knows how is working that program or what we need to change to allow these key modification in the
Prophet 4.0.0.0.3 PDAViet rom?
Neotap?
Do you have a link to this software?
Souns interesting.
Yeah, a Download link would be really good!
it is posted in this forum:

I hope the link works....
The program it is quite nice, but i do not like due to the hang up button (red button) it has change the fucntionality.
The key think it is know what this program is doing in the WM6 just to be able to changed the key configuration as you like.
Does anybody know how to do it?

Interactive Touch (Like the Voyager)

I did a search on PPCGeeks, XDA, and Google, and couldn't find any app to make the touch screen on the Titan interactive - similar to the way the Voyager touch screen works (quick vibrate when the screen is touched).
Is there any app like this? If not, can someone make one?
Thanks!
You would think HTC being one (if not THEE one) #1 Smartphone manufacture that would have SOMETHING similiar to the iphone or Voyager. The HTC Cube to me is very "amatuer" looking compared to the iphone and Voyager UI. Even microsoft couldn't make anything similiar...hopefully WM7 will blow us away.
I agree that the Cube looks pretty basic (that's why I won't put it on my phone, but I do have the TouchFLO).
But what I'm looking for is for the phone to do a very quick vibrate whenever the screen is touched.
That technology is called Haptics and it is much more than just the phone vibrating. Haptics allows you to physically feel a vibration exactly on the spot of the screen you are touching. Your phone has to have Haptics vibration built into it to use it and there isn't a single HTC phone out there using the said technology.

Indeed.
That said, I'm still interested in any app that does simply what whiteblazer01 asked for. I'm always looking over my fingers when I'm trying to dial a phone number. I'd be willing to give a simple touch-response app a shot.
Anyone?

I have been looking into this also. Especialy when i use the media player or just the main screen shortcuts.
In the mean time I was able to find a CAB somewhere in this forum that enables vibration feedback when you dial a number. It replaces the tone with vibration. I hope you guys like it. (Sorry I dont have support for it because I am not the original creator of this CAB)
Make sure that once you install the CAB that you soft reset after.
Hope you like it.
That's exactly what it is - Haptics. Thanks for the link. The program [email protected]$ put a link to (thanks!) works on the keypad, but it really doesn't feel like the Haptics system. O well, its still cool though.
I found a link to another thread on this forum for the same thing. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1685449

I was thinkin about how we can make the phone vibrate when we tap the screen in any application instead of only the dial pad.
I came up with a theory that might give us some type of haptics feed back. It might not be exactly like haptics but it could make the phone vibrate.
There is a feature in our phone that can enable the phone to play a sound when we tap the screen for any reason. I was thinking why not replace the sound with just vibration like the CAB that changes the sound to vibration on the dialer?
Im not experienced at programming, but I am willing to take a shot into making this possible. Maybe some one can get a hold of a good programmer or some one good at registry tweaks to make this possible.
Just an idea

Great Idea [email protected]$, deffinately move forward with it, Ive been using the phonepadvibrate (essentially the same as what you posted) for well over 2 months now and love it. If you could do the same with the normal touch screen it would be amazing.
Yes its not full haptics, but in my opinion it really doesnt need to be. some sort of physical feedback (ie a slight vibration) would be great when working with the touch screen.

Carlos, I definitely agree, I would love to have that whenever the screen vibrated. Although, I don't know who would be willing to do that. I remember when I had the Apache (XV6700), I thought it would be cool if someone could make the LED lights on top into indicator lights for the shift and caps keys - which never happened (I don't know how, otherwise I would do it myself).
In fact, I wonder if someone can make a cab to have the shift and caps buttons make the indicator lights turn on whenever the buttons are pushed, not just when shift lock or caps lock are enabled.

It is very possible. I found other sources and they have some sort of program / prototype that can make this happen but it doesnt work on every tap of the screen.
What I want to do is make mine work on every tap of the screen but have the ability to turn it off and on to save power. Like turning the notification for the sound to play when you tap the screen on and off.
So far I have planned some steps to do it through the registry but since I am not an expert at programming like others are here it might take a while.
But any help is very welcome to complete this project and make it available for all.
As to changing the LED's on your phone. I think no2chem and some other guys found a way to customize your LED settings, but I'm not sure if it will be custom enough to indicate caps or shift. Maybe in the near future.

I am sure you probably have. I have the copy of the program that enables this feature. I believe it is extracted from a phone that has haptic feed back. But it is an executable.
This program is faulty. It doesn't respond on every tap and has performance issues. Other then that there hasn't been another one developed.
I'm trying to find a way to fix the issues of of the one that I found. Maybe by creating a new way to enable haptic feed back like I posted on previews posts, but it might take time to develop because I'm still learning how to mess with WM Reg. and programming.

Let me know what you find out Carlos. I would agree with you that it may be better to have the phone vibrate maybe when any button is pushed instead of anytime the screen is tapped (or maybe have the option to choose?), and also have the option to turn it off. Lol, maybe we can call it "Taptics" instead of Haptics.
As for the LED's, I'll check with some of the other guys about what they can do. I do a lot of modding myself with other electronics (cars, motorcycles, game consoles, etc...), but I don't really get into programming all that much (although the logic makes sense to me).

Okay, so I noticed the phone does vibrate, however, when using the keypad while in a call, it makes a different tone, and does not vibrate.
Also, is there any update on ways to make all buttons vibrate (and configurable) when pressed? And of course, an option to turn the feature off?

I am not sure for all buttons but there is a CAB to make the phone vibrate when you press the screen. I tried it out and it works, but it's faulty and kills performance.
I'm still working on this project. I haven't had much time to work with it, but if any break through happens then I will post it up.

Keyboard backlight

Hey Ive seen issues with people having trouble with the distribution of LEDs on the keyboard with not seeing keys and others to bright and thats not me haha. I was wondering though if anybody knew a registry hack or something that would let the backlight on the keyboard stay on longer than 5 seconds? That is the biggest annoyance of this phone that ive seen so far.

Do a search for a utility called Advanced Config, it has a setting to change the backlight timeout, among a lot of other things. You'll need to have the ARM4i version of ppc .NET 3.5 installed also.
BEWARE: Use the tool at your own risk. Don't turn menu animations and start menu animations on, as it has caused my start menu to go really wonky (all the colors are jumbled and its impossible to read) Turning this off made it behave as expected. Just a warning
Hey thanks man. I didnt even know that setting was in advanced config and ive used since the mogul lol.
Doesnt work
I have tried the tweak in advanced config and nothing changed, has anyone else had luck with this?

This is one of the most annoying things about the TP. Anytime you pause for 5 seconds the keyboard backlight goes off! Grrr!
No kidding. I completely disabled the light sensor on my P4000, it was always on as long as the slider was open. I even watched an hour long episode of top gear while I sat in a Mazda dealership while having an oilchange done on my car.
I too have been equally frustrated with this. With no solution in sight, I think I might have thought of a program that could save our sanity. The only problem is that i've only THOUGHT of it and it doesn't exist yet. I've started a thread in the 'Development and Hacking' section. I searched everythere but can't find solution. I would like to block\disable\lock all hardware keys\buttons except power when device is in standby mode, I don't want it wakeup when in my pocket hit all other buttons. Maybe someone have solution?
i second this. i find myself with an empty battery and a couple of open programs because a hardware button was accidentally pressed while the phone was sitting in my pockets.
solutions?
the discussion here was no help either.
there must be a registry setting somewhere that changes this. dont need a app for this, there is enough stuff running in the memory.
It can't be done as far as I know. I've looked all over and there's nothing to be found.

I want finer volume control in Android

Hi modders/hackers/experts,
I'm the new guy.
My skills are equal to the skills of a 5 year old.
Anyway, I'm not sure where to post my problem, so please don't punch me
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 with Android 2.3.6 - nothing modded.
Well, I really like the cell phone and the OS, but there is something I don't like.
The standard volume levels (for media) are 16.
In my opinion this is not fine enough.
The loudness is okay if you ask me, but the steps are not fine enough.
(It's either too loud or too silent - especially with Headsets.)
If there were more volume levels (for example 100, or even less), it would be really fine and you could find your favorite level, depending on the current song.
There are some apps like fine volume control, but I've tried several and they did not work properly.
Unfortunately, I have not been man enough to "root" my cell phone or to install some modded firmware.
I think I will do it if it's the only solution.
Practically I want that the volume buttons make finer steps.
Also, there are some headsets with included control buttons (also volume buttons).
Using such buttons with fine volume control would be awesome!
So, what do you guys say?
You are looking for something that moves the level from 5 to 5.25 etc instead of to 6 . Not seen anything and yes i would like slightly more control as i find minimum sound level of 2 slightly to low and pushing sound level to 3 is to high .
All the apps i have used likewise move in steps of 1 .
jje
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
This app is good but a bit buggy for me:
h**ps://market.android.com/details?id=opotech.finevolumev2
Making steps of 1 is okay, but the limit should not be 16 but higher.
If the limit is 100, a step of 1 would be much finer.
Edit: 6,25 times finer if we want to be exact

Stumbled on this thread in a Google search...
I don't know how the Galaxy SII works as far as mods go, I use a HTC Sensation, but I have little skills myself with regards to scripting, and have been able to make two mods using tips and clues from these posts and some Googling.
I think the mod part would be the same, but the delivery might be different. Not sure though.
I was actually trying to make a mod for phone wakeup using the volume keys using this post, which I was eventually able to do. I knew I needed to decompile android.policy.jar and make some changes to one of the files within, but I didn't know how.
I searched and I started here: Jar/apk baksmali smali file decompile and compiler
OK, useful stuff. Some Googling and XDA searching showed I needed to have the latest Java Runtime Engine installed, and the latest Java Development Kit, and they can be obtained from Oracle's site. Got them installed, tried 1. from the thread above, and got a weird "magic number" error. Hmm. Looked at the package date and realized it was a bit old...so another google brought me to here where I could download the latest smali and baksmali files to replace the ones in the folder where I was working in.
forgot to rename the smali and baksmali.jar files without the "1.3.2" part.
Fixed that, decompile worked!! Edited what I needed in Notepad++ so as to not mess up the Unix formatting (don't use Notepad or Wordpad), recompiled, whoohoo!
Next step was to open the original android.policy.jar file which I had decompiled from originally. Use 7Zip to open it, then drag the classes.dex file in there, close 7Zip.
Two ways to go from there, I could copy the android.policy.jar file into /system/framework and overwrite the old one, change permissions, then reboot, kinda messy, not redistributable, or... I could make a flashable .zip.
Easiest way to do that is to use someone else's. Add what you want by dragging it in, and delete what you don't want. Then copy the updater-script file out to a folder, edit it in Notepad++, and then copy it back in and overwrite the existing one. Just look at a few updater-scripts from different mods and ROMs and the syntax is easy to figure out.
So, I was successful with my first mod. Yay! Now I wanted to do another one.
Some searching led me to this, Fine Volume Control. I knew I wanted it as you do now. Same process as above for decompile/recompile, except using framework.jar, so now I have made my second mod.
I don't know if any of this will help you on the Galaxy SII, but it can be done! Good Luck!
Edit: Just re-read your initial post, you would of course have to be rooted. Not necessarily with a custom ROM, but rooted definitely. Go ahead and do it, I knew nothing about Android phones before August 2011 when I bought one and joined XDA that day. It is not that hard, just takes time and patience and good reading skills.
Hi and thanks for your replies.
It's been a while, yes.
Well, since Samsung managed it to damage their own cell phone by releasing Android 4.0.3, I'm ready to install a custom mod.
(Not this week but this month I guess.)
I don't know if there is already a custom mod that could eventually have a fine volume control integrated.
I mean I'm not the only one who thinks this 16 level system sucks!
Google issue list: 25920 - I'm not allowed to post external links...

Hi, I have a question about your app: it doesn't give the "finer" volume steps when using the hardware volume keys, right? Or am I missing something?
I need an app (I do not want to install the xposed framework) that will give me additional volume steps when using the hardware volume keys on my Galaxy S5, CyanogenMod 11.
Thanks.

That's correct, it doesn't modify the behaviour of the hardware volume keys in general usage.
While the volume app itself is open it does modify their behaviour, but as soon as you exit the app the volume keys act as normal.
