GreenButton
GreenButton is an Open Source Windows Mobile 5.0+ program. It runs in the background as a very tiny executable (1kB) that waits for the Green Button (otherwise known as the "Talk" button) to be pressed. At that time, the specified program will be executed. I wrote this with iDialer in mind, and it works perfectly for those who want to use iDialer as their default dialer.
Go to my site for further details, and to download:

Thanks, great software. We get lots of requests for something like this in the Q&A Section.

oh! F*in A man, now we're talking. Getting closer & closer to the killer app
I can't wait to d/l this and try it.
supbro -- on a tangential note: could you tell us which ROM you run, which SIP you use, whether ot not you use A_C's s2U2, PCMkeyboard?, etc? I have been looking for "best configurations", beyond just best-of-breed apps. Thanks very much for all your great work. I am looking forward to understanding your business and how it will serve smartphone users.

this is wonderful. thanks man.

great
tried it and works great thanks alot

Hi,
I installed it on my Tilt and it doesn't work (ie - I press the green button but nothing comes up, not even the standard dialer).
I also looked for a config utility, coulnd't find one (either in Start-Settings nor in Start-Programs).
I performed an SR after installation.
I was expecting some sort of possibility to link between the green button and my preferred app (O3TOUCH).
Thanks.

How do I change the program?
GreenButton is activated upon startup by a shortcut placed in "\Windows\Startup". Edit that shortcut (easiest to do over ActiveSync) and add your program as an argument (this example will execute Pocket IE upon Green Button press):
44#"\Program Files\GreenButton\GreenButton.exe" \Windows\iexplore.exe

There is no config utility, you must edit the registry manually. The registry settings are on my web site. GreenButton was designed for iDialer, so if you don't have iDialer installed, that would explain why no programs start when you push the green button.
If you want to run a different program, you can probably just change HKCU/Software/Supware.net/GreenButton/Run in the registry to the file name of your dialer (maybe \Program Files\O3\O3Touch.exe ?)
Also, after changing registry settings, be sure to soft-reset your device.

Or that way.

OK
I'm not able to sync the PDA to my work computer, so rather than wait till evening, I used Resco Registry Editor and changed what seemed to me the appropriate reg keys.
So far it seems to be working (ie pressing the green button brings up O3Touch).
But I noticed that there seemed to be some hangs-ups, so I'll uninstall and reinstall then try to edit the shortcut via AS.

Awesome,. thanks so much for this apps,.

This app doesn't sync calendar updates but rather the whole calendar, right?

Great Program..
I loved I-Dialer, but the lack of an option to launch it using the talk button made me think twice about keeping it... With this addition my wishes are granted, a full screen dialer with fast contacts to match.. Excellent apps!!
The only things I would comment on would be the graphics of the dialer look look less than VGA quality (bottom row icons)... Hopefully folks will begin to skin this program like S2U2 and we will have the perfect replacement to the stock dialer.
I would recommend you work with Dman666 as he is working on a full Iphone theme for the Diamond/TP crowd.. This dialer would compliment both of your efforts perfectly as there seemed to be an issue with launching the phone from the manilla code (bottom home icons) he is tweaking for the theme.

Editing the shortcut will have the same effect as updating the "Run" entry in the registry. There's no need to reinstall or edit the shortcut if you've updated the registry.

Um, AEButtonPlus does this . . . for every button on your phone . . . been using it for iDialer from day one.

That's obvious.
But I was not able to edit the shortcut. I tried using the "Explore" function in AS, as well as the built-in file explorer. I could only "view" the file. Could you please post more detailed instructions?
Thank you.

What is WkTASK?
WkTASK shares features of both Task Manager and Program Launcher for Windows Mobile. You can switch all running programs smoothly like desktop Windows, and launch applications easily. Not only stylus operation but also key operation is available. Although the look & feel closely matches the theme color and make the 3D gradation, its CPU and memory usage are low.
Features
Task-list
Using the upper bar, you can watch, switch, close and force termination running programs.
To exclude a task from the list, tap&hold it and select 'Hide'.
X button
Using the X button, you can use some actions as follows:
Tap: really close
Tap&Hold: show context menu
Drag: some gestures (To minimize, drag toward down. To show Today, drag toward left.)
Program Launcher
Using key or tap, You can launch some applications, functions and contacts(phone call or e-mail).
Key operation
To shift the Key operation mode, double-execute WkTask.exe or WkTaskCmd.exe(recommended because of smaller size). Some start options are available too.
Brightness/Volume controller
You can control them in real time with key or tap.
Other functions rotation, suspend, reboot, network connection, etc.
Preferences
To customize, it has a great deal of parameters. Enjoy your self!
FAQ
Q. I want to move and resize a Task-list.
A. To move and resize it, tap&drag the edge or adjust values in Preference->General1->Offsets.
Q. I cannot see any directories except "My Documents" to configure the skins and launcher.
A. It is a bad culture of Window Mobile and Pocket PC. To see all directories, install FileDialogChanger and gsgetfile for international(direct link).
Q. I would like to translate WkTASK to my native language. / The translation is a bit off.

Hey,
Great software. Two things though. First, when activated by vertical drag the launcher shows but hides immediately after lifting the stylus to tap an application. Second, is there a way to adjust the hight of the task bar? It leaves a few pixels from the top and bottom and when I click the start menu white shadow shows behind the bar.
Thanks,
dEM
Anyone..?
i've been using WkTask for about a week.
If i use the launcher it stays ther so i can tap as many boxes as i want. Its not a feature i use though so have not loaded any apps into it.
dont think you can resize the task bar, but that said i have not noticed any white lines. (apart fromthe battary life indicator cross the top)

Stupid me! Thanx!
In my Taskbar I have ActiveSync listed and one other executable which I would like to hide because if they are active all the time, there isn't much point in having them displayed (when I terminate both of them, they come straight back).
What is the path to disable AS from the taskmanager as it does not show up when I look for it from within WkTask?
Also, I presume the executable is TF3D as when I terminate that, TF3D closes and restarts. Anyone know how to hide that executable if it TF3D?
Regards

Hold your stylus on the app you want to hide and after a second a menu pops up where you can choose to always hide it. There is an option in the preferences 1st page to 'always show' so that must be switched off as well.
The TF3D app is named 'Start', repeat the above for it too.
Holding the stylus on the close button also beings up a menu which includes the option of hiding.
Excellent, thanks, worked a treat.

[UPD][APP][ARM][ENG][v1.0][08 Feb 2009] MiniFlow

Description
MiniFlow is a utility to minimize windows application temporary, and serve as a minimized-application station, and manage them in certain way so they can be relaunch at the future. This can be very helpful when working between a lot of diffrent applications at one time.
Mechanism
MiniFlow is a very simple application for processing simple tasks, thus makes it very easy to use.
When working on the several applications, launch MiniFlow to minimize the most current application and/or to switch to another application. Then after MiniFlow is launched, the most current application is minimized by MiniFlow. Then user can select from the MiniFlow another application that previously had been minimized to start working on it.
After MiniFlow is launched, it stays in the background wait to be relaunched again.
Installation
MiniFlow only comes with a single executable file, with the name 'MiniFlow.exe' and you can find it in the distribution package. So the installation is simply copy it to your device at desired location. It recomended to create shortcut or quick launch for the application, and it would be the best if using hardware button for shortcut.
Limitation
Basicaly, MiniFlow allows all well designed application to be processed, however in the implementation, there might be some application that just can not be handled by MiniFlow because of some restrictions. MiniFlow does not handle sub-window of an application, such a dialog boxes or popups, only main window is recognized.
MiniFlow currently does not have awarenes and does not manage minimized-application's processes and/or threads, so if they have been shutdown beyond MiniFlow, MiniFlow does not immediately realize it.
Support
As always, you are welcome to support the development.
Thanks all..

Nice, now it WORKS!
Yesterday was a long day. I tried to figure out how to make this work. After I did careful checking on the program code for potential problem, I even reinstalled my evc, and just to make sure I also downloaded WM6 SDK, then rebuilding the program, finaly I have made it!
You can download the file in the first post that I already edited. Thanks to these people for the notice: m.schmidler, starbase64, jakob2010, EAlvarado, sabestian, grafikastudios. I appreciate that.

First of all, I just want to say big thanks..
And about the problems, I recommended you read carefuly my first post for some info about this program. At the moment I can not say anything much about it. You must specify how you end up with that situation. Give me some details.
Ok some details:
I start your app from file explorer
--> then it shows me on the first picture the files explorer, but all the other pictures were black.
If i then start several apps and open minimalflow again, there is just the file explorer, and no picture of one of the other open apps. They arent minimized.
Hope i could help
it runs extremely fast on my Hermes, very nice job.
On the refreshing problem: Your app runs asa process, not an application. So if you close it, it keep running (invisible) in the background. The program only loads the opened programs on startup, not on 'activation' or via a timer, so it doesn't refresh untill you softreset or kill it.
2 solutions:
* Update the current running programs on 'activation' of the program or use a timer (not preferred cus of the overhead this will cause).
* Make miniflow *really* exit when a program is tapped. (so no process is left behind in memory). This might be easier to program if you make it run as a program instead of an application.
Otherwise: I love this app. It looks very cool and runs lightning fast
I just had an idea for a (cool) fature. Replace the background by the users current open screen, so miniflow will apear to be floating on top of it. I'm not sure if this will work well performancewise tho. It might even look ugly, but I think it will look pretty cool.

Just a quick note:
I forgot to mention that I would appreciate constructive criticism for both the program's interface, and the operation of Tonality.
I want to make this program as simple to use as possible, whilst maintaining functionality and performance acceptable.
Thanks,

In theory, it should already work on a smartphone... in *theory*... The only problem will be navigating around the menus if it works.
Would you mind trying to install the copy which is already available, and post your results here, errors or sucess.
If it doens't work as is, i've got smartphone images for the emulator, so I should be able to cunjur up a simple port of the touch screen version for you.
It loads, but I can't select anything from the main list, the program is ignoring my actions.
Tonality is saying that I have some sort of registry problem that it needs to correct.. just out of curiosity what is the issue it needs to fix?

The issue is with how windows stores the values used for system sounds. There is, by default, a scheme set called "curr0" in the registry. The "issue" which needs correcting is this entry, which is changed to ".brins0net_Tonality", the entry which I use to preserve the users previous custom modifications. The other "issue" is that the entry which I set the scheme to may not have been created, which is why it happens when you first run the application...
I hope this answers your queston

Try pressing the "action" (Center) button twice on the entry you want to select. I have the "item Activate" event set to "Double Tap" which may be why you can't activate anything.
If pressing the action button twice doesn't fix it for you, then it's just a simple change. The problem is however, that for touch device users, it will be easier to accidentally select an event to change.
Can I enable the start menu click sound with this application?

Watch this space!
I love it thank you very much. Works perfect on my Sprint TP with Conflippers rom. It did have to do the fix thats mentioned but everything works.
A stop button and a better looking GUI is all it needs in my opinion. if you want to take it to a higher level then maybe an audio trimmer like MP3 trimmer
This sounds very interesting. I am going to try it on my TyTN II. Can it be installed on memory card or must it be installed to main memory?
I installed this and tried it out but not useful to me as the sound names cannot be seen as a result of sub-directories etc. It seems to have removed certain previous sound events eg. for pop-up menus etc. I uninstalled and still no pop-up menu sounds as before. I have soft reset and the original sound has been changed. How do I rectify this?
Whats' the difference between Tonality and your previous app. Event Sounds? Keep up the good work!
Mick.
thanks, it helped me, my phone is silent now!!!!!!!!

Very good work.
I use it on my diamond assigned to a hardkey, because I've hide the bottom bar !
Very useful, thank you very much
Can you do the same thing but directly to the programs menu of the start menu ??? a direct link to the programs ?
Thank you !
Very good app. Been searching for a long time something like this. On htc hd is quite difficult in some positions to reach with the finger the windows flag in the top left bar to open the start menu. So I put a shortcut of the SendWinKey in the first app box of the Manila Sense homescreen.
Nice job! waiting for an update, of course
one more tiny usefull app, thanks!
Nice .exe - exactly what I was looking for - put the .exe it in my ROM, hope that's ok
Xkan, no problem great to hear that You're using this app in Your ROM great news !
Great man, really useful for me! Thanks .
Very hand app.
This is a very useful app - many thanks for it.
Would it be possible in some future version, to allow arguments in a shortcut so it could open a particular start menu subfolder?
So you could create a shortcut along the lines of “SendWinKey.exe \Windows\Start Menu\Tools\”
This would then open the tools folder, but in the style of the start menu/offset grid view, rather than through the file explorer view?
This way you could create a series of shortcuts to open particular start menu subfolders and effectively create a series of "HTC Action Screen" style panels simply using the usual start menu.
I've tried using the modified "folderview.exe" cab from this forum, but it opens folders in the older style windows (WM6.1) rather than the sliding grid (WM6.5) style.
Thanks again, much appreciated.
Cheers,
Andy.
HTC Touch Pro 2 << HTC TyTn2 << HTC Wizard
Ah yes, before I forget: Could you also make it possible to open the Settings folder (Control Panel) directly in Honeycomb style?
Yeah, Settings folder direct would be great.
thnx, works on wm 6.1 and 6.5 (smartphone), if you use the app makes the same function as the hardware button
greetings from mexico
assembe to left softkey of titanium.....

does anyone know how to assing this app to the titanium left softkey!!
thanks....
Thanks for this small, but EXTREMELY usefull program.
Related story:
I read I needed the 'HTC scroll' dll to be able to scroll in a program and installed 'ASerg HTC Scrolling.cab' on my HTC touch Diamond. Result after soft-reset: non-functioning touch screen. :-( Which also meant no access to the settings to un-install. My phone was set up as an USB-drive, instead of in ActiveSync mode, so remote clicking of 'start' didn't work either. I tried to install your .cab file, but I couldn't select the 'install' button either. :-S
Extracted the .cab file, renamed 'SENDWI~1.001' to SendWinKey.exe and copied it to the 'USB-drive' phone.
Now, because I connected the USB-drive again, the 'windows explorer' switched from USB-drive to the internal memory, with no way to switch back.
Eventually I was able to launch your program by first launching 'total commander' (which was luckily enough still looking at the storage card)
Thanks for saving my day!
Indeed a really nice app. Thanks a lot.
that`s great,i want to know how to make a shortcut for start menu, can u help me ?
Tied this in on my TP2 running stock 2.5.2012 and MMAppLaunch / Quick Link as a fail safe to gain Win Start Menu (short story similar to post 17), great app thank you.

Actually iAgenda is another finger friendly program for tasks (and appointments), http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=515903.
Otherwise I think your program looks great! It's a little slow loading, but that's because you use c# or vb.net I assume? I had the same problem when I did my hgToday/hgAgenda.
Nice app! I´m waiting for the next versions.
If you need help with translation in german, you can write an pm to me
Please use Outlook Tasks for sync with desktop !!!
Excellent app, anyway few things I would like to see in nect version:
1. Why need to double chack what I want to to delete, when I press delete and I mark which tasks to delete and after I press confurm it asks me Do I really want to delete them, no need for that
2. I cant change priority...
3. For every task it says Normal due to 1/1/01??
4. No start menu icon
Good idea!
But the only thing I can create with a new Task is the name of the task.
No set of due to and prioritiy.

Yes, I use C#. I start that program just once and then I minimalize it so it stays in the memory and loads fast.

It is using outlook tasks - when you change something in TasksManila it appears in outlook tasks as well. Or did you mean something else?

1. Ok, in next version I will remove the last confirmation and map the "cancel" on the right menu button.
2. Editting of tasks is not suppored yet - in to-do list
3. it says 1/1/01 for tasks which dont have set the due date. In next version I will skip this information in such tasks.
4. Can you post screen and which device/WinMo do you use please? As you see on my screenshots I have Start menu icon there (tested in emulator + WVGA and VGA WM6 device)

In next versions I will add New Task window where you can specify task's details. The upper textbox is just for quick task adding (I got inspired by original task list).
Thank you all for suggestions!!
Very nice App !!!
Hi,
I could assist in translate into German. Also I would be intrested in cooking in your app into ym ROM for the next release. I think I have to ask you before. Just have a look at the desired ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=588631) and please PM me about translation assistance (because it has to be german gui by default for this ROM) and especially the allowness for integrating your app...
Keep up the good work.
Greetz Tom
I may offer German Translation...
Maybe this app could be similar to upcoming GekoTask?
http://www.gekonewmobile.com/shop/gekotask
And loading faster than SpoonDo?
http://mobilespoon.blogspot.com/2008/09/spoondo-free-tasks-manager-for-windows.html
Would be great!
This looks promising.
I'll be sure to try it out on my Touch and report back.
Nice ? Very Nice ?
I love it, thanks man
