I've been very happy with cortado for over two years, and while it costs a monthly fee it has never failed me. But, I pay only $9 usd/mo. This covers 2gb storage wireless sync of cal/tasks/contacts/email. You either have a bigger trial plan, more storage perhaps or they raised their prices. I switch out devices frequently so having a good exchng is vital to me to be able to sync up in seconds. I love their service and doubt I'd ever switch.

maybe i have to order this with USD as currency
...is that possible?

I actually pay in Euros then it's converted to dollars and comes out to $9.02/mo. If you don't need calendar syncing you can get email sync from cortado for 5euro/mo I think calendar inclusion is 2 or 3 euro extra. Also, check out roadsync. I used them a few years back when they first came out for push email and was very happy with them at that time. I hear they've gotten even better and I think it is a one time purchase, no monthly fees. Hmmmmm...maybe I'll check that out.

When I look at the Cortado website, it looks like they do a FREE Exchange offering (called Cortado free). Is this of no use to you?
EDIT
Forget that last comment. I just noticed that the free product uses IMAP for sync and is based on Exchange 2003

I do not have any tips on cheap exchange-servers, we run our own here at my company, i just wanted to share the fact that my cellphone operator charges me €1 each time i check my mail on the exchange-server.
The rose is a business phone, won't your work pay for the exchange-server? they are _expensive_ that's for sure but there's also action-pack subscriptions etc that help.

OK i need no email push ( i have hotmail riunning and this makes push for free)
but i need contacts, calender and tasks synchronisation.
all what i found here in europe is about 10 euro for that.
i think thats worth, but i want to optimize my expenses

Check this, maybe that's what you're looking for...

Forgot to say this is from an o2 shop, similar prices are available online but the data tarrif is not available, and the cheapest voice being £19.

Yes that is the deal I was offered earlier this month and took -- although I opted for a higher level voice contract for various reasons.
I don't know if it still on but when I took out the contract they were also offering double minutes and double texts for the first six months as well!
Yup...it's also the SAME price whether you're upgrading from the XDA2 or not, whether you're an existing customer on staff accounts or not!
I'm just glad I don't actually work for o2 but still have a staff account...otherwise I'd be pretty fumed by that. Oh wait, no I am anyway.

My XDAIIs was £179.99 on the Data 5 tariff - which is £8 per month for 5mb inclusive GPRS data.
This was as an upgrade from O2 direct, staying on the same original tariff - the Data 5 one ..

I live in italy,i don't need the monthly contract,is there any way i can buy an XDA2i ?

I want to buy and XDA2i,but have some hard time to understand O2 tariffs:
-Do I need to choose a monthly tariff to buy a XDA2i?
-I live in Italy, how can I use O2 service? (in case I cant,i don't see big problems, but need the device!)
-When I choose a tariff, what is the minimal time I must stay with O2 company?
-If I will change Operator,Tariff,etc.. Do I need to return the xda2i back?
Thnk you..

Doh sorry for got to quote i got this tariff and XDA2s last month when i could not find a pda2k any cheaper than £509 instead it works out around £380 and then i unlocked it the next day from the O2 unlatching boys... still saved myself a few quid though.
i just orderd my first xda the 2i today, hence the new reg(i have been lerking for a while)
i got it for £109 because i was going to cancel my contract to get it cheaper so o2 offerd me a much much cheaper price
dam those slow 3-5 working days, i want my xda
Yuup! Could you buy me one too..this is so cheap!
Wow! I really envy you guys that are staying in Europe as the price for the XDA IIi & s are so cheap. Right here in Asia, we are paying through our nose even if it is bundle with contract, guess that is where O2 made their money from.

Cheapest UK Hero contract?

Hi all,
The contracts of Hero seems rather expensive (£600+ over 18 months) for a phone that is worth £350-ish PAYG.
Unless I am mistaken? Please post the best deals you can find!
Thanks.
I paid ...
£97 for the phone, and a further ...
£30 a month for 600 mins calls, unlimited txts, unlimited internet (which translates to a fair usage policy of 500mb/month)
All on Orange Dolphin 30, 24 months contract
Probably way over-priced, but I was desperate and just walked into the Orange shop.
You can get it from t-mobile on an 18 month contract for 35 quid a month. phone is 'free' and you get cool black one (best colour IMO).
you get unlimited internet (which is actually unlimited) compared to most other carriers who will offer 500mb on a fair use policy. can't remember the calls and text allowance but its more then enough.
I believe it's 3GB actually with T-Mobile, which is A LOT more than the other networks here in the UK (as far as I know).
T-mobile is probably the best, but is still a lot of money. Their fair-use limit is 3Gb, Vodaphone and O2 is only 500mb which is stupid. O2 don't carry the Hero, but their iphones do come with true unlimited internet (but don't allow streaming video or audio, VoIP or tethering.)
If you want to save money, try www.moneysavingexpert.com and click through to their page on saving money on mobile phone contracts. It has links to the best serch engines for this kind of thing.

O2 isn't 500mb. They don't have a limit and i've never heard of anyone being contacted by them for downloading too much. I've downloaded 600mb+ for the last 2 months with o2 and had no problems.
I've had some massive usage months on O2 also and never heard a peep about it. The whole O2 internet experience is generally pretty good. None of the port blocking or (un)fair usage crap.
I was going to go with www.mobiles.co.uk - v good deals - but stuck with my Vodafone upgrade because I have more faith in their hardware, support and signal. That's worth an extra few quid to me.
Have friends who take out contracts with various third parties and have all sorts of problem. Not worth the hassle for the sake of saving a few squids.
SC
I pay £35 a month for my FlexT 35 contract, and my Hero was free. I was out of contract on FlexT before, but I was paying an additional £7.50 a month for web n'walk, and I now get the free G1/G2 data plan so in essence it is cheaper for me now.
Regards,
Dave
Ive got my hero on vodaphone, £25 a month, 500mb internet, 500 texts and 100 minutes. Phone cost 70. Bought at carphone warehouse, Its an alright deal, would like to be on t mobile for more internet, but no signal for them where i live...

well £600 for 18 months is not bad at all had set free unlimted high speed data. The had set will set you back around £400 and no support from net works usually then theres the bloody hellish cost of data and calls on pay as you go so the t-mobile contract is about the best out there. And service from them is nearly allways amazing
I got mine on Orange Racoon 40 Websave over 12 months
Its just over £40 per month, including Internet, phone cost about £50, but I used QuidCo to get £50 cashback.

same - 12 months £32/month + £5 for internet. £50 phone but £50 cashback. Winner and I can upgrade change in 12 months.
I got mine from www.buymobilephones.net. which is one of mobile news awards commended online retailers.
My tarrif is on t-mobile 18-months with 700 mins, unlimited texts, 3GB data allowance and the phone was free.
I am paying £34.25 directly to t-mobile but have got 11 months half price line rental which is equivalent to £188 cashback. This is made through redemptions throughout the length of the contract which is similar to what carphonewarehouse used to do.

I had scoured the internet for HTC Hero and T-Mobile G2 Touch contracts as I badly wanted this phone and found no better deal than this.
EDIT: 3 Months free insurance as well.
Haha burgess_boy you post sounds like an advert But thanks! This is the sort of deals I am looking for. I used Buymobilephones a few years ago so I haven't got a problem using them again. Theres £20 on Quidco as well... nice.
@locutus-of-borg - The reason I think the Hero on contract is expensive is because I have had a lot of WinMo phones of similar value to the Hero, yet the contracts (inc internet) were cheaper - usually £25 for 18 months.

Works out at £350 for the 12 months, assuming the £50 QuidCo kicks in (mine tracked pretty quickly). However, you'd need to buy Orange Internet @£7.50 / month, too.

[Q] does anyone know UK good deal for unlimited text?

Hi As I'm a student I'm looking for cheapest deal with sgs2. I found one deal with o2 with 18month contract for £18.5pm and £149 for the phone. It includes 50mins call, 250txts and 100mb. To me it sounds good cuz I don't really use calls and Internet much. However I use lots of txts to my fried so I'm looking for good deal with unlited txt does anyone have any suggestionss?
What are your specifications?
Any networks to avoid?
How much data/calls?
Are you OK with lots of money upfront?
How many months? (12/18/24?)
Also, it may be a good idea to measure up how many texts you actually use. It may be cheaper to get that deal you mentioned, and then just pay for as many extra texts as you use, than pony up extra every month for unlimited.
Obviously if you're using 1,000+ every month you'll probably want unlimited, though
I don't really mind about calls/data and upfront As long as it's not too much.. And I think 12 or 18 month would be good and I think I use +1000 every month.. Do you have any good ideass? Thanks
OK, let's make a few assumptions...
1. You want to minimise total cost of ownership over 18 months.
2. If you got a 12 month contract, at the end you would cancel it and get the cheapest SIM-only deal possible with unlimited texts.
3. You don't mind about network.
Idea 1: £500 upfront (SIM-only) then £5 per month GiffGaff over 18 months.
TCoO = £590
Idea 2: Nothing upfront, then £28 per month with T-Mobile over 18 months.
TCoO = £515
http://www.affordablemobiles.co.uk/...amsung/galaxy_s_ii/17707417.html?source=rupiz
I can't find any better than that for now the second one is a great deal over 18 months IMO. I wouldn't like it myself because it's third-party T-Mobile data (which has capped speed), but overall a good deal
Wow thanks and mmm what do you mean about third party t mobile dataa?

Basically, when you buy a data plan direct from T-Mobile, it works like it should. But when you get it from a third-party reseller, it's limited to (I think) 350kbit/s down.
You may like to research the exact figures yourself, but it wouldn't mean you can't use the internet. It would just make it slow at downloading anything except small files/websites.
the cheapest is o2's ')
The O2 deal he mentioned doesn't include unlimited texts...

[Q] Importing experience

Hi there
Has anyone who has imported a galaxy tab 10.1 from the states to Europe/UK comment on their experience please, ie how much was duty, tax, VAT, where from etc.
Its just that Im planning on buying one from ebay US since the tab isnt probably going to arrive here in France till after september and I've already been waiting to buy a tab since the original 7 inch tab came out and cant wait anymore!
cheers
You will pay a hefty premium on eBay, sellers look like they are charging way over retail, plus tax when it arrives with you.
It's a bit early for anyone to have any experiences yet, unless they got one from Best Buy in NY last week, but then they'd have probably brought it back in person and may have avoided taxes.
I ordered mine from Amazon via a mail forwarder, should be with me by the middle of next week. Expecting to pay around ~25% of the value in taxes and duty, so anything less than that is a bonus. Still works out to about the same price as the wifi Xoom over here, so I'm happy.
You will need to do research for your country as to what is charged if you want to have any hope of an exact price.
Great I found this thread !!
Amazon isn't having issues shipping to mail forwarders right? Because best buy is, also amazon selling white or metallic grey?
thanks in advance
Cheers
Sent from my Galaxy Tab 7" using XDA App
There is no import duty on the tablet in the UK, but you will pay VAT at 20%. A guy on these forums posted about www.bundlebox.com which is a forwarder. Apparently they offer warranty cover as well. We are discussing it over here:

White are BB exclusive so if it's from anywhere but BB they are metallic grey plasic made to look like metal.
Which mail forwarder do you use?
And which method did Amazon use to ship your item to the mail forwarder?
I have setup mail forwarder (BongoUS.com), but I don't sign the USPS form 1583. So, the mail forwarder cannot accept item shipped via USPS. Anything else, UPS or FedEx are OK.

I'm using Comgateway as the freight forwarder to ship my tab to Australia. I've used them several times and the service was great. They are based in Portland, Oregon..so you don't have to pay any state sales tax. They will ship your item through DHL.
Amazon used ONTRAC when they sent my order and it reached CGW on Friday morning.

Ok, so what will you do if the item is faulty?
You are asking about warranty
Of course this is the risk for people who import because as we all knew, the GT10.1 does not have international warranty.
It is a gamble, but it is not the end of the day.
You can return it, but you must pay the shipment your-self. More or less like this. Fried forwarder will handle return.
So, it is your choice.
It is a big gamble in terms of cost. If it is OK, then good! If it is not OK, it means you must spend more money (return processing).
NOTE: I checked comGateway.com, it seems OK, but I don't find any business address or customer support phone numbers. This makes me think to use their service, although it should be OK (I read some reviews). But, I want to be able to contact them quickly (by phone) if anything bad happens.

Electronics are late & overpriced here, so I guess it's a risk I'm willing to take when importing stuffs If, the product is faulty...most probably will try to contact samsung or return it to amazon.
Ive been looking into the forwarder Viaddress. Has anyone else used them or heard anything about them? They advertise themselves as being much better than the others. Also Im not keen on filling out the 1583 form so Im thinking about using Tigerdirect as they use UPS to ship items as opposed to Amazon where you cant choose your carrier.
update: from what Ive read, Viadress doesnt seem to be a very trustworthy service. I think Im going to go with one of the ones thats been mentioned here instead.
I am going to use TigerDirect as well for UPS shipment.
And for the forwarder, I use BongoUS.com. This is my first time experience.
So far they are ok, support responded my questions quickly, also checked their live chat. And they have phone number where you can contact, also the company address is clearly visible in their website.
https://bongous.com/contact.php
However, to use that, you must pay one time fee $5 (no monthly fee) and your credit card will be verified (by sending a small amount $0.1 - $1.0 and you need to tell them that).

Im looking at using Bundlebox now. They seem very good. All tax/duties are included. Its going to cost me 559euros all up for the 32GB model. I think thats pretty good. How much is it costing you? btw I think we're having the same conversation over 2 threads lol
I don't like the included tax with the forwarder.
Because there is chance their calculation is wrong? Or double charged by the tax office in our country?
So, I want the forwarder to not include the tax. The custom will charge the tax anyway.
Seems safer to me.
I have no idea how much in total because I don't know how to calculate the tax in NL.
I could assume VAT 20% though ... shipping cost to NL would be around $50. .... So, ($500 + 20% * $500) = $600 + $50 shipping = $650 USD = 454 euro ... not bad.
But again, I don't know the tax/duty, never done this before.

There is no duty in France but there is VAT/tax. Calculated on their site its 95euro, which is around the 18.6% VAT charged on goods+shipping costs etc. So its correct. And even if when it arrives I have to pay more, I can just refuse it (unless its only a couple of euros)
On the bundlebox site they show you the tax/duty by country
From their site for NL:

UK Data Sharing Plan

Hi,
I thought I would share my surprise find today.
I am with O2 and got the new Gear S on a basic contract. This came with 100MB data and at the time I was offered 300MB for £2 more.
So I thought I would try it for a week and see how it went.
As I enjoyed having the watch and whilst it may not be perfect it is as good as my gear fit plus the benefit of text and calls when disconnected from my phone, I decided I might as well get the extra data just in case.
I logged into my O2 and saw that the was a data sharing option. Not knowing what this was I called customer service for more details.
It seems they now offer a tariff where you can share data between devices. So the long and short is I have signed up for one of these tariffs.
Yes it costs me £6 extra a month but I have gone from 1GB on my phone and 100MB on the Gear S to 5GB between both. There is an option to share the 1GB between both and that would have cost me another 50p. I just wanted more data.
Thus I thought I would share with the group in case anyone else was interested as it seems the states have had similar packages for a while.
Yours
Dagaz

This is very interesting, I am on the original O2 tariff you mentioned.
Whilst I see you are getting more data allowance, I really don't think you'll use a fraction of the original 100mb available on the Gear S. There aren't any apps that require an internet connection that use up large amounts of data, even the Opera browser.
But if you have gained a better value for money data allowance for your phone as a result of the tariff change then it's worth considering.
100mb is ample for now but thanks for sharing ?

I'm on EE and they do a similar thing but I think it's £10 a month. However, I've gone for an EE PAYG for £10 a month that gives me 500Mb data & unlimited texts + 150 mins talktime. My 4G phone contract is 5Gb and unlimited calls and texts so that more than amply covers my needs.
