Upcomming ROM upgrade from HTC - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

2008/12/31 11:01 (EU team) I understand that some users are having difficulties with a so called lag in the usage of Tomtom and Touch Pro. HTC does not have any upgrades in order to disable the lag of updating the position to the Tomtom application. Tomtom is indeed a third party application and I would therefore recommend you to contact them to see if they have any fixes for the so called lag issue
2009/01/21 16:11 (EU team) Dear Mr. Skaryd I just wanted to get back to you in order to see if you have gotten the GPS working better. I would also like to inform you that there will be a ROM upgrade available in the near future (1.19). Please feel free to get back to us at any time if you have any further questions or queries. Kind Regards Dave Montanya HTC Europe
2009/01/22 07:57 Alexandr Skaryd Hello, i got reply from TomTom, they claim the problem is not on their side, since they and other software producers like iGo etc are getting similar messages from users all over the world. The problem persists, it could be improved with some registry hacking aparently / as claimed on web, but i didnt try those. Anyway good to hear there is a rom update on the way.
2009/01/22 09:06 (EU team) Thank you for your reply, I have personally looked around on forums etc in order to see what the root of the issue is. Some claim that a registry change or a patch to the application (tomtom) will solve the lag issues. It doesn't seem like there is a universal solution as for now. I, myself is awaiting the new ROM as well for testing with GPS software. Feel free to get back to me if you get any further info. I'll get back to you if I find a great solution. Kind Regards Dave Montanya HTC Europe
This is my correspondation with HTC support team. Aparently there is a new ROM for HTC Pro incomming, so maybe we are getting a fix for some of the bugs, maybe even the GPS fix. So lets hope someone actually WILL try the ROM when its available and inform the custom ROM users if anything was fixed.

Let's hope that your "friend" at HTC Team isn't bluffing...
Sure it would be good to see HTC doing their work as they should!
To market a device like the TP with lots of bugs and flaws is incredible...
But that's the reason foor xda-developers existance...

they promised me from november they said end of dec 2008 there will be an rom. only bluff

But... only for Pro? Diamond has the issue as well...

don't expect too much
diamond got 2.0X and probably sooner or later TP will get the same treatment (nothing major)

I amazed at how other poeple seem to be able to get HTC Europe to talk to them; they hardly ever reply to me. What's the secret?
Thanks for trying, and thanks for the info Skaryd : )

someone knows when this official ROM will arrive?
hope there'll be a german suport as well as the engligh one
greetz

Don't worry guys. I will flex my raging pectorals and they will have no choice but to fall to their knees and develop the drivers we need, lest they incur the wrath of an epic man-chest.
Or in other words, we're boned.

this sound like back in the day when the CEO/President of HTC responded to all the critics about the lag in video performance of the Kaiser. He promised something will be done to get thing right by March 08 (?). At that time, I said, I would believe it when I see it. It's never happened. So don't get your hope too high.

does he mean ROM version 1.19?
i got my TP a week ago, it has rom version 1.90.707.4 WWE
which is much later than 1.19
but displays the gps lag.
the rom date state 8/23/08
which is prior to the date HTC said they would be releasing a new one.
i'm confused!

Here is to crossing fingers and hoping that HTC has finally realized they can't be this big and popular now and have crappy working features.

we already know about the new ROM as it has already leaked:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478657

MY GOD, people the fact that the "Fail: <reason for continuing the argument>" line was used here makes this thread worthy of closure alone.
Dont start poluting threads with this crap, keep it relevant and check sources before coming out with stupid comments.
Back ON TOPIC and keep this civil please.
End of lecture, handouts available on the way out

My mistake on the date, which apparently in DD-MM-YYYY, if you look at the last few posts, it can easily be mistaken as MM-DD-YYYY.

thanx for sharing the info ... hopefully the new release would fix some bugs

Working Bluetooth ROM hybrid!

I've been working with a great group of developers over at PPC-geeks.com on the Titan bluetooth problems, and I'm proud to say that our efforts have been fruitful!
The History:
In case you didn't know, the Titan has had horrible official Bluetooth support, and even the custom roms only get it "partway" there.
HTC's latest CDMA device, the Touch, uses roughly the same hardware under the hood as the Titan, however their bluetooth worked flawlessly. So, clearly the hardware is capable, its a matter of running the proper software!
After many attempts at porting the Vogue (htc touch) Bluetooth drivers into any number and combination of titan roms, it was concluded that it is NOT the answer (sorry custel).
This was the first obvious approach, however every attempt had some problem or bug, or sometimes wouldn't even boot up!
So we took another approach...
The Solution:
Update the OS, but keep the drivers from an earlier build that had less new "issues" with BT. The 2.09 rom from sprint had stable bluetooth, however it had poor quality over the headset/handsfree profile. This was apparently NOT an issue with the drivers as much as it was an issue with how the OS handles them!
Replacing the OS with a ported AKU .7 from a Universal, and basing the rest of the rom on 2.09, we have what appears to be a release with stable, decent quality bluetooth that works as it should have out of the box!
More testing is needed, but it seems like the best build so far, and should be a strong candidate as a base rom for future customs.
What this fixes:
-No more poor BT quality
-No more random BT shutoffs
-No more system freezes when coming out of standby due to BT stack left on and disconnected
-No more D-pad lock issues
-Generally stable Bluetooth performance that works AS EXPECTED.
Known issues:
-Alarm Bug, which was and still is a part of 2.09
However, we're working on a fix for this.
Find it here:
ftp://ppcgeeks:[email protected]/Titan/Users/sfaure03/ithinkwegotsit.rar
(as of this writing, the ppcgeeks ftp and webserver have been hit pretty hard, and are timing out an awful lot, so if it doesn't work, try again later. Perhaps someone would like to mirror it somewhere?)
Special thanks to all who contributed to this effort, particularly PPC-geeks users Sfaure03, DogGuy, no2chem, jtrag, and all the others who tested, theorized, and gave sage advice.
Personal thanks to ImCoKeMaN, for explaining how things work and having the patience to answer bizzare questions from the rest of the group.
edit: whoops nevermind
I'm not expereinced enough in using this type of file - can you please tell me what is the procedure to install a .rar file into the phone.
its an .nbh file, rar is the compression method. Its like .zip, only you need winrar (or something compatible) to uncompress it.
there's a tutorial on ppc-geeks (which I should really post here as well) about how to unlock and flash custom firmwares on the titan.
you guys rock!
So installed this ROM a couple hours ago. So far the phone's working fine. Tested BT in my RAV4. Wife says it's much improved -- previously if I called from the carphone she'd known instantly and ask me to switch it off. Now she's says it's fine. (High praise indeed. )
So bottom line: quality issues appear much improved. Major kudos!
Update: maybe I was slightly hasty. So the phone sits in my pocket for a few hours. I press the power button to bring it out of sleep. Password screen takes 15 seconds to come up. Enter the password, Today screen takes 30 seconds. Click on the Voicemail link, get a message that the phone cannot make the call. (low RAM?) Nothing else (afaik) except SPB Mobile Shell running at the time.
Boom, soft reset. Is it the phone? Is it the ROM? Is it me?
Mirror at: http://rapidshare.com/files/71094429/ithinkwegotsit.rar.html
The ROM finally makes my BT usable, but is still quite choppy and compressed. Unfortunately not a true fix for my device.
But, kudos to the developers for getting it to be usable! Thanks!!! You clearly beat Sprint/HTC!
However, my RAZR2 and Touch still have much better BT, so will keep using them at least for awhile.
Will see if the 'official' Sprint ROM (1) actually happens, (2) truly fixes the problem. If not, then I'll use my Touch until the Treo 800w or Titan 2.0 come out and likely swap my Titan at that point.
Unfortunately, even if Sprint fixes BT, Titan 1.0 will never have adequate memory for WM6. Sadly, the lack of memory is an unfixable product design deficiency.

Heh, I love it how everyone keeps badgering that.
Look, I don't want to take my thread off-course, but when WM6 was released, ALL DEVICES HAD ONLY 64MB!
It wasn't until recently that we really started to see 128mb become more standard. The Touch (vogue) is actually the first 128mb WM6 device I've ever put my hands on, and I've had WM6 running flawlessly on the last 5 or so devices I've owned.
So, don't tell me that this is a major unfixable product design deficiency. It'd be nice to have more memory so you can leave more stuff open, but if you're not new to this and know what you're doing, its perfectly acceptable.

I have to agree here - the Cingular 8525 runs quite well with only 64MB of RAM (Other at work run it). My Titan runs quite well with only 64MB of RAM - HTC Home from the touch on the other hand makes it run like a three legged dog. Without the 3rd party plugins it zooms along quite well even with several apps running.

OK - fair enough, my memory comment WAS off topic! BTW you introduced the word "major"; I never said it was major - just unfixable. And, yes, you're right - if you want to manually do the OS's job for it, there is an acceptable workaround.
Interesting, though, that you responded only to that one sentence out of five in my post, not the other four which stated that BT quality is poor/mediocre on my device (which is an improvement from the prior unlistenable state).
Anyway - what kind of success rate are you seeing from various forums with this ROM? I still suspect the problem is partially HW, and that BT on some devices (mine probably one of them) may be unfixable.

Why call out another developer? I fail to see how it was necessary. I'm assuming you have no life, and make roms for a living? I'll download whatever works; but because of your approach to criticize other people who try (which is EXACTLY what you do) to make something work, makes me not want to download your rom.
dishe is an such arrogant SOB, who think he's all that because he's creating ROM...well props to you that you do create rom...but its just people opinion/wish about having more ram (which is UNFIXABLE! on mogul)...you don't have to bash them for it...would u preferred an old style laptop/computer from the 2000's or newer/faster in 07's. However, you might be able to upgrade their RAM through hardware...but does HTC have such RAM upgrade for mogul!? anyways...i'm not hating on your work at all...but i just get disgusted when you go and ranted on someone post (n it was a valid post.)
ps. If you want to brag, make something that's useful w/o any glitches. Success at that then brag all you want, but at this moment you still using the public to test whatever ya doing. So stop tripping home boy.
Wow, I've heard of people venting on forums, but this is rediculous. Did you all have really bad days or something?
Look, there's a lot going on that doesn't take place on this forum. I used to be a big XDA-dev's fan, but unfortunatley I've found that there just isn't enough research and development for our particular device going on here, so I started broadening my horizons.
Maybe I didn't make it clear in the first post, but I didn't make this rom.
At least, not by myself. I worked with a team of people from other boards and we formed a group that has been testing theories and building different rom combinations to try and come up with the best solution possible currently. We've made some amazing progress, and the nostalgic part of me wanted to come back to XDA and not leave you guys in the dark.
We've noticed Custel doing similar things on XDA, and we had already tried a lot of what he was doing. We found that the vogue BT didn't play nice with the rest of the Titan rom components in many situations, yet Custel kept trying. I beleive that some of the devs in our group tried to contact him, possibly even get him involved, share what we've learned so far (collaborative efforts are the best way to go). I don't know exactly what happened after that, and I didn't ask because its not my business. I mentioned him because he's still trying something, where we've had a bit of success. Not that its a race, but it would appear that we got there first using another method. I'm sorry that you read that as a "flame" on his part, I didn't mean to disrespect. Just that we we're doing is not what he's doing, and we've tried that route already.
Some of the others in the group of devs warned me not to go posting here. Thought maybe there would be too much animosity. I decided on my own to bring the information here because XDA was always a great source of info in the past, and there's no reason you guys should be left out. Are you trying to make me regret it, as if I'm wasting my time here?
Lazy and cool6324, I'm not forcing you to try this rom. I'm also not "bragging" about what was created. I'm filling you guys in. If you don't want it, that's fine. I won't bother updating.
hey DISHE
bro u dont even owe these guys an explanation, they contribute nothing and take everything. they dont understand whats involved and quick to criticize anything they dont agree with.
it appears to me that they think they are all that and a bag of chips/ but if the DEVs of these fixes decided not to share, i bet they would keep there mouth shut real quick/
bottom line bro, dont bother posting any more responses to these idiots / look at the end of the "
Hard-SPL - or how to not brick your PDA ever again" post and u will see what these guys are like on this forum, calling each other names and etc just like they r doing now.

Lazee,
its not about kissing ass. Its about appreciation for what these guys do (AND FOR FREE they do it!!!!) they rarely ask anything of the rest of us, if anything at all. Because of the fact that they do give up alot of free time, which they could be doing something else, to help out alot people they dont even know, i have a certain amount of respect for that alone, regardless if they might seem arrogant. the truth is that they really do care about people or they wouldnt even share what they do! theres no law that says that they have to share anything with us/ sometimes its easy for us to forget this and take it all for granit/ lets just call a truce and stop with the name callin and etc and try to maintain a respectible forum ok.
PEACE!!! come on guys we are all in this together
Oh and by the way Custel, u rock bro, do what it is u do and dont stop!! dishe luvs ya nothing personal, i dont want to speak for him but i get the feeling that things might have came out wrong when he was responding to the "lazee's post and was just a lil fluddered.

Why AP4.0 has not been released

This is not intended to be mean to the ap team but i am posting this because i feel they should of been honest to us from the beginning and just said we can't release yet. My reasons for feeling this way are listed below
1. About 1 month after pk3 dual was released, pawel and the rest of the team changed their signature to rom: top secret and it had been like that even after hdubli posted a ported copy of wm6.1.... why did'nt pawel post a wm6.1 rom when he changed rom to top secret?
2. the team keeps saying stuff like we have a BT bug or screen problems and i realize that there are some updates on the ati driver and stuff but the BT stack that is on the wm6.1 that hdubli released works great. i can use a BT mouse and a BT keyboard, and BT headphone all at the same time and it works great. I can provide a vid if there are doubts
3. Most is importantly even BoyGeniusReport says http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/03/28/htcs-manilla-gets-screenshotted/ this rom is from the x7510. something i said on the "Athena Project 4.0 coming, but needs...." post 228 but pawel denied this is post 229
in conclusion everyone should stop looking for the release of this rom and start looking for the release of the x7510 cause then and only then will this rom be released. I am only posting this so people can have a realistic outlook on the rom and can stop being dissapointed everyday in the hope it will be released. I did not post this to come down on the team i just feel like there is so much tension on this fourm and i wanted to make my thoughts known.
High Five
Hypothetically speaking...
... Even if this were the case, why would you want him to release pre-release software that could get him in trouble or again, hypothetically, his *source* in trouble? People get fired for leaking stuff, sometimes worse. Personally, I don't need to know where this stuff comes from.
How about we let him work on things and hey, at least there's a better chance that he'll be able to bring us more HTC gems for a possible v5.0.
ok dude the rom is a 7510 rom but no way do i have to wait for it to be released. there still isn't a solid release date. the rom i could give u right now but it needs to properly be tested and bugs be fixed. we release with bugs, u guys complain, we look bad. i can take complaining before the rom then praises when it comes out.
also we have had 6.1 for a while. something like november i got the first athena 6.1 rom with build 19145 if im not mistaken. we have had 6.1 even before that though.

On a side note - i also live in orlando, fl and goto ucf do you play halo?

No kidding - I'm planning on getting back to school this fall myself. Live right around the corner from the Uni. No Halo, since my box was red-lighting again just before my damn cat knocked a cup of water over onto the PSU for it. So i've got a little bit of work to get my box working again... oh yeah and I was banned from Live just before all that too (modded firmware), so yeah I did play halo. Meh

Look im not trying to get into a pissing match with you, and nothing productive will come out of us arguing back and forth. So if you say it's still buggy and you need more time to test than its buggy and needs more time to test. i will not say another word about it.

Just as an example, I don't care about BT bug, I am pretty sure I have it fixed in a couple of days .A developer forum is a place were people exchange beta, and fix bug, together.
In the excalibur forum, without any "secret" rom, without any "project" , even without any DONATE, kavana (China) posted a rom, rick (GB) improve it, we worked togeter with kavana and rick, now we have TWO good rom!
Release a working, buggy version, believe me, may be you will surprised how people here will be fast to find AND FIX bugs.
Knowledge is something widely spread here and on the NET too! USE THE FORCE LUKE (the force is the NET and the spread knowledge). If you don't trust the FORCE you can't win!

oooouch, i think that might be a little harsh. You forget they have already posted 3 roms so i think the people who have donated got their moneys worth
My first thought for the team is if you WANT to release, then there's nothing wrong with realeasing a beta--paid software makers do it all the time. Here is a beta with known bugs. Da-ta-da-tada. There's likely unknown bugs too--user beware. That's why its beta. Heck, while its not as optimal, some companies (cough, cough, microsoft,) can release betas as the real deal.
For free (please donations accepted look at the value) roms/software, the bar shouldn't be higher than that of the commercial stuff.
It's funny how this just suddenly went down hill with all the slandering etc etc... I appreciate the time EVERYONE on the AP Team took to make what was (and most of us if not ALL enjoyed it) and what is to be. I personally donated as a sign of gratitude and saying thank you, heck I would've donated if they had even asked for some sort of donation just to teach how they did it instead of releasing a new ROM. Some of you guys are just down right ungreatful and quickly forget all the hard work and time they Team puts in to stand behind their wonderful ROMS. And lets not forget the tons of apps they cook in the ROMS too. So what's the big deal if people want to donate I did it and I'll be doing it again in the near future.
If the team DOES NOT want to release. That is the team's perogative also. This seeming to hang forever on the edge of release is a little nerve wracking and is hard on the fan base, but so what? If we, the fan base, donate less--really--donations are piddly anyway. The team needs to do what they do for the fun of it and the satisfaction of it.
I think it's about time this ROM was released, bugs'n all. Just release as a Beta.

Look im not trying to get into a pissing match with you, and nothing productive will come out of us arguing back and forth. So if you say it's still buggy and you need more time to test than its buggy and needs more time to test. i will not say another word about it.

thanx just dont like people saying i cant release this until the 7510 is out. i released snapvue before the shift was out and that was ok. i'll also release this new rom before the 7510 is out. i'll also be able to provide details when the 7510 is out and about what the price should be.

PAWEL as I said before: this ISN'T a CUSTOMER'S forum, this is a DEVELOPER'S forum.
Customer want the best (and irrealistic) ROM, a developer want TO DEVELOP and share knowledge, so we are ready to a BUGGY one, you aren't a company. WE LIKE TO PLAY , we aren't customers, again!
If you don't trust the FORCE you can't win!

thats why if i cant get it to my liking by friday it will be released as a beta. the 19181 build was just to unstable. it got un usable after a while. u really wanted me to release that? we tried to make it better and got it to about 80% of what it should be but then decided to go for the new 19202 because we got the ok for that. by friday there will be a rom. if all goes well before that u might have a non beta build.

If you don't mind I don't like getting my hopes up (again). So I'll put it on my calendar for Friday. I'm not hoping for it to be released before that (or maybe I am but trying not to). Dare I say it...? You're not going to disappoint us are you?
And please note. I greatly appreciate your hard work. That’s why I donated! But checking every day to find out that it’s not released it getting a bit tedious . Considering it has been hanging close to being released for quite some time now.
Awaiting delivery
it will be 100% out on friday. whether in beta form or final form. it'll most likely be afternoon local time because thats when i'll have time to release. i would like a tuesday release though because would be very funny... dont u agree??

A few questions (if you don't mind, if you do just don't answer ):
Will the beta be usable? (maybe good to know for less experienced people);
What's your timezone?
NB: no not funny at all, as I said: I'm not getting my hopes up again.

What if...

So, for all of us DCD fans, could it be that DCD has offered us his last ROM release for the forseeable future? What if it is true (and believe me I hope it isn't)? Has anyone started researching other "stable" alternatives?
Just thought a thread for people to post suggestions or ideas for where we DCDers might go until he returns (if he returns)...

if dcd is goin to be done then i hope he drops DCD3.2.7m2D
without dcd, titans will never keep advancing
dont know about any other stable alts
nuerom 3....
maybe DCD is a student or sumthing...the summer had a lot of releases...maybe he's too busy now to be tinkering with the titan
Don't get me wrong...If DCD is done or just taking a break, that is totally up to him...this is not his job and he certainly doesn't owe us anything. I'm not here to bash him or beg him, just looking for alternatives that might be close to as good...I agree with megaprime.."without dcd, titans will never keep advancing", but we will have to keep working...
I think he's just been busy

Searching his recent posts makes it appear he's been busy in the Raphael (Touch Pro) forum. Wonder if he got himself a new phone? Or maybe he's just looking at porting the newer Raphael ROM to the Titan. Whatever, I am sure he's got a good reason for not being around... remember, this is a hobby for him, not a business, and anything he provides to us users is a gift.

dcd said he would get a Touch Pro when it was available. It makes sense that he somehow has one or surely will have one shortly. I hope he has as much fun with it as he had with his Mogul. Ditto for gc, also, when VZW releases its xv6850...... July or August, perhaps..... 2011 or 2012. ;-)
You might want to take a look at this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2789628&postcount=5
It has the manilla 2d already in it. Pretty fast ROM.
Otherwise you can also watch ppcgeeks.com for new ROMs/Kitchens over there.

Best rom for Practical phone use?

What do you guys think is the best ROM for using the touch pro as it is intended to be first and foremost: a phone.
I'm looking for a rom with no hangups when you want to make a phone call, check a text message or send an email. I find that sometimes my phone hangs (quite badly actually) when I try to use the actual phone bit of my fuze. (IE: Tonight I got pulled over for having an unregistered tag, left the reg at home, tried to call my aunt to bring it to me to avoid having my car impounded and low and behold my phone call screen decides to hang for a good 2 minutes... Lucky the cop felt bad for my seemingly ****ty device and I got off with a warning... :\ )
Also, I find it a pain in the arse sometimes to check, reply to my texts on the go. More often than not the screen hangs for a few seconds between the different screens. I find this so much of an annoyance that I've almost stopped texting all together.
I'm using the RRE 6.5 rom at the moment but this is literally draining the life out of me. any suggestions?
Sounds like you treat your phone as I do ... mission critical device.
RRE's series ROM are great ROMs; a lot of attention goes into ensuring they run as hassle free as possible. That said, Windows Mobile 6.5 is still relatively new and there are some kinks that still need to be worked out.
You may want to look at using a feature lite Mobile 6.1 ROM for the time being. A good indicator of stability is when you see the frequency of kitchen/ROM releases slow down.
HTH,
Thanks for the reply, I'm beginning to think that its a 6.5 issue, but even more so a windows mobile issue... Which is a shame because i've always been a fan of the pc-on-the-go experience of wm as opposed to some proprietary OS by some nameless company for a very specific phone that supports nothing.
Maybe i'm just ranting
It depends on what you want in your ROM.
RRE v3 WM6.5 has been running great for me. There's been a v4 and v5, but I'm sticking with v3 for now since it has run great for me.
WM6.5 isn't for everyone though.
If you don't need TF3D (or don't mind installing it via cab), then look in the March 1st Leaked ATT ROM thread and look for the Da_G stripped version. This is plain WM6.1 with NO HTC stuff. Its as bare as you can get, but fast as hell and very stable. You can find cabs for the HTC stuff if you decide to use it.
+ 1 for NRG minus manila. once you take the manila out, the battery life is excellent....granted, i'm on 2.0 now but was pretty good when i ran 3 as well (switched back for 6.1)....
it's now 5 PM and been off charger since 7:30 AM and with a few phone calls and email twice/multiple texts, i've still got 75% left!!
agree with other member, if you want reliable rom, stick with 6.1. 6.5 has a lot of hiccups. But to each its own. My phone has failed me when I need the most but hey how many times does that happen.
install the new touch pro 6.1 official rom 5.11.xx.xx.xx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
i made my rom with just that in mind, making the touch pro a good phone first, and a good ppc second. it runs on 6.1 so no hiccups and i tested it extensively.
arrupenthal makes some good stable roms too :}
Why are we having this discussion AGAIN?! Oh yeah, because someone with only 4 posts doesn't want to spend an hour reading but wants to get quick answers to questions that have no easy quick answers.

He did the right thing. He started a new thread instead of clogging other threads with these questions. No one has to enter this. I've been monitoring this because I'm curious to see what people plug here. It's hard to find practical roms unless you read all 150 pages in each good rom's thread because everyone claims: "fast", "great", "best", "stable"... when they really aren't there yet. It's just that some roms aren't fully troubleshot yet. Some people here want to get their money's worth out of a phone they paid a lot of money for and don't want to devote the better part of a day (at the very least) to find something they'll only find a deal killing bug one month later after spending hours putting programs back on their phone after flashing (even after UC).
Sorry for opinion almost unrelated, but I don't post without some kind of contribution of my own:
I currently have been running RRE v3 and its a great rom, but it has some camera bugs with the auto rotate and wm6.5 has messaging uglies. It is by far my favorite performing rom, but the camera bugs. My phone, to me, has to be a phone, gps, camera and music player. I plan to go back to RRE the latest with the 6.1 rom no manila and put on chome. I'll let you know how it works out.
I hope this thread can be a place in which people can come to take a look at great performing roms and dl packages of optimizing software with little time spent reading through bugs and potential bug fixes. This in mind, I'll be on again tonight after hopefully fully testing what I hope to be my rom for about 6 months only reporting great or bad or good (with Quick fixes only).
Thanks to all the chefs for their time.

I disagree, all the information he wanted was easily accessible. There's no excuse for not taking some initiative instead of opening up yet another "Hey guyz! What's the best ROM out there for my <insert device name here>" thread.
<rant mode=off> ;-)
I agree…asking a question that is answered 100+ times already is not what this site is about. This site is about the developers and people like my self who are members because we like what he developers do should read more and post less.
Remember this:
I this site becomes about he non-developers it will be ruined!

With a win 6.1 and no manila, how looks your today screen? Do you have some kind of screenshot to show?
Thanks
(I'm using an energy 3 rom with win 6.5, and I like the titanium interface, I wonder what I'll use if I go back to 6.1)
I could say that I'm closing this thread out of spite (nobody plugs my ROM? )... but it's not the case. This type of thread is not permitted according to the rules of XDA-Developers.
Although it can seem like a daunting task, the best thing for the OP to do is read through a few ROM threads, the first few posts should suffice, for a list of features and a changelog. [Shameless Plug]. Lastly, check the date of the most recent release, and then jump to the posts from that date, going forward.

Athena Android Bounty Thread

After spending a huge amount of time trying to get a working android to boot on the athena I am thinking that maybe if enough people are interested in donating we can get some devs interested in helping us.
Initially I would like to get android 2.0 to work, my thinking is to firstly get people to commit to donate to getting android to boot.
The other option is to get enough together to buy a 2nd hand athena to donate to a dev to work on.
Please post here if you wish to donate to the project and how much you are willing to pledge.
Devs: PM me for details of the relevant git etc if you are interested in this.
Donation list:
Avengerpenguin £20
UniversalCitizen £20
Definitely!
Hey I just made another donation - as drewid - and I am excited that you are talking about this and working on it. Thank you!
I saw your twitter post a little while back and was wondering if you had finally got a working build tested after losing your adapter? I am so psyched for Android but I know it will be a while still.
I am going back to the drawing board this evening to test more WM ROMS since my current one and the last 4 before it have not seemed stable. I feel like I am nearing the end of my patience for Windows Mobile at this point, but I like the device. I have to get it stable and with enough features to keep on using it.
If you don't mind me asking, do you still like WM? If you had to recommend a best ROM to use on my 7501 which one would YOU recommend? I just want reasonable speed and good web browsing, stability. I can add SPB Mobile shell again for pizazz since I bought it a while back but it doesn't always seem stable on recent ROMS.
Thank you again for working so hard on this and all your ROMS work! I wish I knew development so I could help out more.

Ive got a new adaptor and feel that I am getting close to compiling a working 2.6.31 kernel for the athena, but am trying to learn linux at the same time, making my progress slow.
Yes I still like windows mobile, its just that with lennie now cooking as well I decided to spend my time trying to get android to work after running on my blackstone. My thinking for me as my athena is a second device that with android I could almost have the equivilent of a dell/archos android tablet without any outlay.
To be honest I havent flashed any new roms to my athena for a while and am still using my last release.
Hopefully there will be plenty of time to help once we get to a working build and there will be a lot of testing etc to do
Just donated to the cause
Hello Avengerpenguin,
Just made a donation from an email address beginning with 'wide' and ending with '.com' would of made it sooner but was waiting for payday.
Lets hope we can get a working version sometime soon or I might have to go crazy and get the HTC Desire when it arrives. (if it's not got the same issues as it's Nexus sibling that is)

Many thanks for the donation, I have had confirmation of the donation and will keep it in the kitty for the android dev, I like you really hope for a working android either by my doing or from someone else, unfortunately work has dictated that my android work in on the back burner for probably another week or so, but will get back to it as soon as I can
I will probably get a htc desire in april when released on orange to use for work, looks like a great device.
I am willing to test!
If you need a tester, I would like to do so.
I have an X7510 which I only use for music, and that even only in imergency if my MP3 playe is out of power!
