This looks pretty similar to the one I received OEM with my phone.

My experience has been that anything that works on one HTC device will work on others. I haved used headsets and chargers from various HTC phones on my G1 and I had no prob. Only headset that never worked was motorolla

I just received the headset adapters. They rock!! Listening to Paramore right now and I'm in total bliss. That's all.

Does the supposed "voice control" work at all?

Elaborate?

Pretty sure hes talking about the voice dialer app, or the search widget, tbh I don't know with the wired ones, never tried.

Herald/Wing with a BTB200

I have a Pioneer AVIC-D3 with a CD-BTB200 bluetooth kit that will allow me (technically) to broadcast bluetooth music to my headunit, and also to use as a handsfree through the stereo. Has anyone done this before? On the AVIC411 forums, a lot of people have had some serious issues with WM6 and synchronicity, but some people have downloaded JetWARE and been able to use one function or the other.
Any input would be awesome.
Ok...it seems no one else cares, but I got it to work with the phone functionality. It's rather cool sounding, and I like it a lot. The only problem I'm running into currently is that I can only send my contacts across one at a time, which is kinda lame.
question
do u mean u can play music in ur car, as long as the car is bluetooth enabled?
thats great..i dont have a car with that yet.. but i plan to, and thats great to know.. thanks

So you got it working. with out any bugs,
Try this: in the registry of your device HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\SYS\COD
change the value to 5374476 (DEC). That helped me. The Phone changes in bluetooth to a smartphone (I don't know the difference to WM5-6.1).
I used jetwaremobile.com and downloaded the hands free config profiles onto my wing and it works fine.

Bluetooth Remote Control for Android Media Player, etc

I'm looking for a Bluetooth remote to use in my car, to control my G1 when it's hooked up as a music player. This is both a safety and convenience concern.
The starting point is finding a remote control that transmits Bluetooth directly to the G1 (i.e., not infrared or wired). It needs, at a minimum, a forward and a stop button. Reverse, pause, and other functions are nice, but not mandatory.
The other half of the solution is software to control the media program in Android, which may or may not already exist; if not, I'll commission someone to write it. Maybe I can even offer a turnkey system for sale if there's enough interest.
I know someone's will say "search the forums", and I did. What I found seemed to be focus on wired remotes for another HTC phone, or remote controlling your PC with your phone. But if I missed a relevant post, please do correct me.
Ideas are greatly appreciated.
remote
there is a remote for gaming used for the n95 i saw on a website it worked for android on a basic level. maybe that might help. in the development of this
Found this on another thread http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87Wc0KqnW2M that some people are using. Jabra BT3030
Aux cable from car stereo plugged into remote. Remote paired with phone. Not *completely wireless* but atleast you don't have to look at your phone.
Does that get you anywhere?

Hmm, I posted a reply to this, but it isn't showing up. Maybe forgot to submit.
Anyway, thanks for pointing this out. I had seen this a long time ago and forgot all about it. That's exactly the kind of thing I want. Here's the instruction manual, for anyone else who might be interested. It's about US$55.
The only problem I see here is that it'll register as a headset and thereby disable the sound coming out of the extUSB connector in the car.

It's the Zeemote JS1, and this blog has a video showing it interacting with a G1. This may ultimately be what I'd have to go with... it seems to be designed solely as a controller, without A2DP getting in the way. But looks like it needs some kind of interfacing software, at least on the Nokia. At US$20, I should just get one and play around with it. Cheaper than buying another car stereo with BT built in.
Dual Infrared + Bluetooth Remotes
FWIW, I ran across two rare, interesting items.
One is the RicaVision Vave 100 Universal Remote. Unfortunately, it's $349... but in theory, it would control both your car stereo (via infrared, which the majority of remotes use) and the G1 (via Bluetooth). It's able to "learn" commands from 24 infrared devices, and has a 2.4" 240x320 color LCD screen. No PC or internet connection is needed for configuration.
The screenshots show artist/track info being received from Windows, so it's Media PC-oriented, but still a possibility -- assuming you could program it accordingly. If so, just carry it back and forth between home and car: use it inside for your TV and PC, outside for the car stereo and G1.
The other device is the Ricavision SideShow Remote for the same price, also having IR + BT transmitters. This is purpose-built for Windows SideShow, and has fewer buttons -- volume, play/pause, prev/next, etc. It's smaller than the Vave, but still has a 2.5" QVGA screen. This is perfect for my car setup, but there doesn't seem to be a learning mode or any way to program, so the chances of it working are about zero. Boo!

If that worked in my case it'd be perfect, and it's the smallest form factor yet. The only problem I foresee with this and the Jabra is that they'll want to subvert my wired headphone output over to A2DP. But for $13 I'll probably take a chance.

Well, I finally bought a Jabra from there. I'll play with it and report back on whether it'll work like I wanted above.
Meanwhile, I didn't realize until looking more closely that most of them were fake. I've been burned by counterfeits before, and sure enough, there are a ton of them on fleaBay. I made this graphic to demonstrate:
Aside from the logos, they look identical. Price is an obvious warning, but not always. Location is another: I'm wary of shipping from Hong Kong. OTOH, just because it says Jabra doesn't mean it's real... the Motorola H700 is another example where it's nearly impossible to tell them apart online.
Unfortunately, even with VeRO and the rules against keyword spamming, this junk can be found all over eBay.

In theory, if it's able to connect to one phone's A2DP, it should connect to any. But I wonder if it has something to do with the ROM you're running?
I've noticed the G1 needs some finesse when connecting and pairing BT. Also, there are different steps you can take that all arrive at the same result (ergo, lots of trial and error).
Anyway. Now that I have the Jabra, my next problem is keeping A2DP, HSP and AVRCP separate... more on that soon.

Here is whats interesting; I have tried the BT3030 with several ROMS and I get the same results (I even tried it on stock and then rooted). When paired placing and receiving calls work fine. The problem arises when you try to listen to music, the sound skips constantly and I haven't figured a way to fix this permanently. Do you experience this problem (skipping sound)?

I got 3 knockoff bt3030s back in october (from dinodirect... shady) at $15/ea it was an ok price...
I too have the skipping problems on my Droid, but I just discovered how to fix them. Go into bluetooth settings, long-press the jabra bt3030 device, select options, and deselect phone audio and reconnect the device. Now, no more skips.
I don't know if it's the bt3030's fault, I think it might be an android bug where audio gets routed over phone audio instead of a2dp. This is evidenced by the skipping audio--headset audio only has something like 8khz of bandwidth.
It kind of sucks that phone audio has to be disabled, but in all seriousness, I use the bt3030 for a2dp far more than phone calls, if I need to make a phone call over the bt3030, I'll reconnect the phone audio and disconnect it when I'm done.
Don't know if anyone still cares, but for the record, and for searchers, there are these options:

http://www.scosche.com/products/sfID1/217/sfID2/219/productID/1938
Both of these are very expensive though as they are part of large packages for cars. YMMV.

I just got it and I can't seem to get my phone to recognize that it's plugged in and I"m wondering if it's the adapter, phone or maybe the rom

Won't Work
Sorry to tell you. So far as I can tell it doesn't work on the dream. I did the same thing. Same site. One hit I had off a www google search said it worked on 1.5, but after 1.6, it no longer worked. I ended up using this. Jabra BT3030 It works great. With a little bit of hacking you can get this BT Necklace
When I had my G1, I had one of these badboys and it worked like a charm: http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-HTC-TMobile...096028?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item4cf2078e9c
Got the same one for my Tattoo (click) and it's not recognized, is there no way to make it work, like some driver or anything?
I can confirm that the splitter which can teh man linked, the YC A300, does work on my G1 running BiffMod 2.0
This makes me suspect that the relevant driver is either in Cyanogen Mod 6, or the Pershoot kernel which BiffMod uses. I haven't tried to break it by flashing another kernel. I do hope this at least gives you a starting point.

if its not working you can try an app called "sound route switcher" or sth similiar.
it forces your phone audio output through your desired channel. so i got mine to work on donut (before it was patched on a cm)
but my adapter uses more battery than being connected to my bluetooth headphones >.<

Thanks, I found this post useful.
A quick search on eBay revealed many of these for five bucks.
I was looking for an adapter that would let me charge and use the headphone port at the same time.
I don't know why they couldn't just put the d**n headphone port on the phone itself. I guess it would have cost them an additional 35 cents per unit. I hate the "break this port and you're screwed" paradigm.

[Q] HTC FM radio apk

This has probably been addressed before. Has anyone found an apk file for the HTC FM radio that will work with the rezound . Thanks.
Yes it has been addressed before and nobody has this working yet. Just search this forum for it.
Found it and it works
If anyone is still looking, I found a thread on PCgeeks, followed it and it works great on my Evo 4g! Tried to post it but due to my utter noobness xda won't let me. Just google htcfmradio.apk and look for the thread on the PC Geeks forum. OBTW, other threads addressed an issue where people said the app wasn't working, but you have to have a three ring headset jack vs. the two ring on most. I can verify that this is correct. My earbuds have two black rings on the jack, no worky. My bose qc15 has three black rings, works 4.0! Sweet! Great sound, all of the stations come in very clear.

this is true. we need to have if so they can use the lower ring as an antenna. with out the hardware, i dont see this app ever working for the rez. there are alternatives like apps that you can listen to your favorite stations from there online broadcast and not over an FM tuner.
I tried the FM radio on my phone and I cannot get it to work. i do not believe that htis phoen has the FM radio chip. BTW, I was using the 3 ring headphone.
Googled it but couldn't find any that Worked. Link us or pm me the link and I'll post it.

Typically on a regular stereo headphone plug you have a 1/8" TRS plug. TRS stands for Tip-Ring-Sleeve. Generally Tip would be Left ear (+), Ring is Right ear (+) and Sleeve is common ground.
The "3 ring" plug you are talking about is 1/8" TRRS, or Tip-Ring1-Ring2-Sleeve. Generally speaking, the configuration of these are:
Tip=Left
Ring1=Right
Ring2=analog input (mic)
Sleeve=Ground
This is the case for the Rezound's plug. Ring2 is for input (headset-mic, or for analog signals sent from devices such as Square dongle or the music control buttons on the iBeats headphones)
Plugging in a regular set of stereo headphones without the 2nd ring (TRS) simply disables the input by grounding it out (Ring2 and Sleeve contacts are both touching the "sleeve" of the TRS plug). To the best of my knowledge, the Rezound isn't capable of using this 2nd ring contact as an antenna lead, as plugging in a set of headphones with a mic (iBeats) would totally nullify any ability for that lead to act as an antenna. The coil in the microphone would absorb any signal that might be received on that wire.
I PM'ed Abu7 the link. When I google htcfmradio.apk the first link is the ppcgeeks one. Post #8 has instructions for how to install. Also, I believe the headphones need to be 3.5mm. The headphones with the microphone jack I believe will have the third ring. I just ordered some earbuds from Amazon that I think will work. I'll let you know in a day or two and try to link that as well.
Here they are:
ok try it with terminal app
1) Place the .apk on the root of your SD card
2) Type "su"
3) cd into the destination of your .apk
4) Use "install "name of .apk" /"destination"/"name of .apk"

Just got these (3.5MM LG OEM Stereo Earbud Headphones /w Microphone Extension for HTC Droid Incredible (Black) ) in the mail from Amazon and they work with the FM radio. The two ring earbuds I have do not work (just static). The reviews on these were good and the price was right.
Not sure why the apk doesn't work for some. Could be an EVO only thing? I know the EVO came with FM radio. After I rooted I had to go find it again, though. Maybe some phones aren't set up for it.

Yeah, and that forum doesn't have the apk.
So the Rezound has the BCM4330 chip...
After a quick bit of research, it seems that ALL variants of that chip that I have found do contain an FM transceiver, which is really interesting actually. This means that technically, the Rezound should also be able to transmit audio sources over FM Radio to your car stereo as well as receive FM Radio.
Other specs I've found show that the Rezound should also support 5Ghz 802.11 A/N wifi too, but I haven't been able to get any 5Ghz networks to be visible to my phone...
My guess is these functions must be implemented at the kernel level before they will function correctly.
So, now I challenge any developer to get this working.

Seconded!
Actually, its really a shame how gimped this phone comes, now that I'm aware of more of its capabilities. For the first "Beats Audio" phone to the USA, where you would assume its audio features would have been the most important area of focus, most of the stock capabilities of the hardware aren't even implemented.
-So we have an FM Transceiver that can currently neither transmit, nor receive. The transmitter especially is an awesome features for people who spend a lot of time in a car listening to their own music.
-We have a relatively hifi audio DAC, the WM8903, with an awesome built-in headphone amp capable of driving big studio cans. Not implemented. The audio on this phone is processed entirely in software, essentially limiting the capabilities of the WM8903 chip to a simple headphone-jack interface and nothing more.
-Beats Audio mode itself was supremely disappointing in its extremely limited implementation.
-5Ghz Wifi capable but it appears to not be implemented either.
All of this stuff could probably be fixed. I know Anthrax kernel supports processing audio in the DAC, I know Voodoo Sound is compatible with this chip and supports the DAC and headphone amp but its currently not available on the Rezound...
The wifi and FM radio are both handled by the same chip, so likely we just need a proper driver or kernel support to add in the missing features supported by the chip.
**edited for false information**
gsmarena.com posted that the Rezound utilizes the Wolfson 8903 DAC. This appears to be false. The Rezound actually appears to utilize the TI AIC3254

Nuance Voice Control for CM7DX2!

Moon Shadow - NM Presents to you: THE LONG AWAITED APP OF THE NUANCE VOICE COMMAND SUITE FOR CM7DX2!
This has been verified: THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH MIUI!
As with all of my mods, etc, you are responsible for what you do to your phone! DO A NANDROID BACKUP!
I was saddened by the fact that cm7dx2 did not have a good "echo back" voice control app. The default one works pretty good, but you still have to look at the screen.
For those of us who have used the Nuance Voice Command Suite from the stock DX2, know what a pleasure it is to use a voice control app that you don't have to look at the screen for. For me, this is one of those small, but critical things I would prefer to have on my phone.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get the stock DX2 Nuance app to work. It was freaking out because it was making a system call to a deprecated lock screen method (keyguard). Anyhow, I tried porting the default app to cm7dx2, but I wasn't having much luck. I then decided to search to see if anyone else had posted the Nuance app from another Verizon phone. I found one for the Pantech ADR8995 and thought, what the hell, I'll see if it installs... Well, what do you know, it did! Without errors! HOT DAMN!
Next was the big test... Let's see if it works... I launched the app and BINGO! It said, "Please wait..." Followed by the familiar, "Please say a command." SWEET! I checked a couple of commands and it seems to work just fine. I have briefly tested all the commands and they all work well for me. Enjoy!
[EDIT]
NEW INFORMATION! The echo back of voice confirmation DOES work. Just not over Bluetooth. I tried it on both my non A2DP bluetooth headset (a Plantronics Voyager Pro) and my A2DP headset (an Altec Lansing/Plantronics Backbeat 903).
When using Nuance over speaker, WITHOUT a bluetooth headset connected (paired and connected) to it, the echo back works just fine. This is also the case with SOME wired headsets with a mic.
[/EDIT]
[OLD EDIT]
I have found a problem. For me, it's not a big deal but it might be a deal breaker for others. I don't know how to fix it either (yet). Anyhow, The "echo back" of a contact name does not work. For me, that's okay; for you, I dunno. I'll keep working to try to fixit and will update this as I have information.

Okay, are you using a bluetooth headset? Are you using a wired headset? If not, are you holding the phone like you are talking on it?
For that matter, does bluetooth work on Miui?
Ciao!
apparently i didnt stay stock long enough to find out what this is. so, would someone please explain what this mod does?

It's not really a mod. If you use a bluetooth headset frequently, like I do, and are in a state that has outlawed messing with your phone while driving (that should be common sense, but I guess some people don't have that), it's a PITA to be driving and having to look at your phone to see when the CM7 Voice Commands prompt is ready to accept a voice command. The Nuance app "talks back" to you. (Not in that way!) It provides voice prompts for your voice actions. For example:
I long press my BT headset button to launch it and it usually says, "Please wait." Followed by, "Please say a command."
I respond, "Call wife mobile."
Nuance responds, "Calling wife mobile."
And it dials the call, all without looking at my phone, or needing to pull it out.
Ciao!

When I tried it, I spoke into the microphone with no headset.
I do not know if Bt works on Miui as I do not own any wireless headsets. The only hands-free tech I use is the mic on my skullcandy headphones and those do work well.

No, it doesn't work period. I should've been a little more specific; before I installed the app, the only headset that has worked on miui are my skullcandies.

Okay. When you launch it, do you hear either "Please wait." AND/or "Please say a command."?
Once you hear "Please say a command." wait about 1 second, then start talking. To test, I say "Check time."
If you are not even getting as far as hearing the voice prompt, then my guess is it doesn't work in Miui. Can another Miui user confirm this? Thanks!

I dont hear anything at all. Maybe Ill change some things and give it another try.
I have a couple bluetooth headsets. I've never used this feature before though. Are all bluetooth headsets supported or do they have to be a special kind?

Okay, if you don't hear anything, then the app probably isn't working. *shrug* And, I don't know how to fix that.

I have both a "regular" Plantronics Voyager Pro bluetooth headset and an Altec Lansing/Plantronics Backbeat 903 A2DP (stereo) bluetooth headset and it works great with both of them.
Ciao!
Works great for me too. Bluetooth works great also. I'm on cm7. Wonder if the miui problem might be related to the sound problems on that rom?

I'll try on my next days off
Man I wish this came out 2 weeks ago before I put eclipse back on my phone. Now I have to wait till next week when I'm off work. This was the only thing keeping me from staying on CM7. No biggy just glad it's out thanks for the work looking for this.
