Thats amazing

It all depends on the price the different companies are able to buy the parts in for.
Straight off, the fact that this 'netimes' lot seem to be US-based will drastically affect such factors.
Not to mention, eXpansys are a reliable, known company whereas I've never heard of his over lot - you've got more protection buying though eBay than with them.

the car chargers certainly are different models, the expansys one is htc original, has the correct code and is the right price (ive bought one, expansys and htc are same price as are other stores that supply the htc made one)
the nettimes charger has a different code and is listed as "non-oem". i suspect you will not get the charger that is pictured

Yes I see what your saying and I usually buy from Expansys, but I have also bought of etimes for accessories and there service and business has been just as good as any and with the savings you make you can afford so much more or just save the money. I always look around for the best prices but that site is quite amazing.
I have just read my post and it looks like I am trying to sell the site but I have nothing to do with them, I was just a wee bit shocked.

I own the car charger and bought it from netimes site, it is the same as in the picture. there is always a possibility that it is a copy, the Chinese are clever.

just ordered the same one

seeing as the price from htc is so much higher than these reported "non oem" ones that look the same and have the same codes
i can only guess these are chinese fakes. as i cannot reconcile why htc would sell them retail at £15.99 yet supply them to resellers at such a low wholesale price that the reseller can afford to sell then at £3.11 (the $4.39 quoted)
i for one am not prepared to risk £500 worth of kit with a potentially forged charger
im even tempted to buy one of these very cheap ones and compare to my genuine (as i bought it from the HTC store) charger, side by side should be able to see differences
edit again!
little point in comparing pictures you get from webstores, as the non oem webstore could just copy the picture from an official suppliers website
ppps edit!
this domain is registered through a domain by proxy registrant, through godaddy in the US. all the registrant details are "protected" and therefore cannot be traced. the contact pages contain a webform only, there is no physical address to be found anywhere nor any telephone contact details. i see at the bottom of the page it has a link for hong kong post..... ?points to being a chinese website to me which to me always suggests fakes
also of possible note, traceroute dies at washington, that might suggest its in the US, but then again
i dont trust it to be genuine equipment

When I receive mine , I will make detailed pictures to compare it side by side with the original one. Hope this will help.

Then jonajuna can make pics of the original one (which he has bought as mentioned above) and then we can compare them here.

I bought the car charger from netimes. Looks real.........but it only puts out 500mA max which means it doesn't give enough juice to actually run GPS AND charge properly at the same time. I noticed that I seemed to have gotten the last one (about 3 weeks ago).

Also am I right in thinking that Polaris belong to the P36xx family or is there no such thing with HTC?

The only way to know for sure is for someone with a TC and one of these to try it. The problem with my old HTC 3300 cradle was not having enough space behind the USB plug to accomodate the TC but since the 3600 is thicker than the TC I suspect that wouldn't be a problem with this cradle. I do worry a bit about space in front of the device however. If you look at the TC from below then the USB socket on the device is on the back one third of the thickness, i.e. much closer to the back than the front so the cradle needs to accomodate most of the TC's thickness in the space in front of the USB plug and, from that picture, that clearance looks fairly tight.
It's a nice looking cradle though, I'd love to know if this would fit myself.
- Julian
Thanks for the feed back Julian. You do have a point about the position of the USB socket and unless someone has tried them I think it's worth a trip down TCR to see if it fits if any of the shops have got it.
I do like it also with comparison to what I've seen thus far.

D'oh! I've got so used to buying on the internet that, despite having bought my Touch Cruise on TCR, it didn't even occur to me to go there to try out cradles. Despite being on the tube network, I don't go into the centre of town that often but if something crops up in the next few weeks and I find myself with time and in the area then I'll see what I can find.
It doesn't look as nice as the one you (Abbsta) found but this one is also a possibility (http://www.devicewire.co.uk/P3600-USB-Desktop-Cradle):
It's for a 3600 so, as previously discussed, the clearance behind the plug might be less of a problem. It is also open-fronted so presumably there is no chance of an issue with clearance in front of the device. And finally I deliberately looked on devicewire because a guy called Danny working for Devicewire has popped up here in the last week or so and seems to be pretty helpful so maybe a PM to him when these come into stock (the current status is "Stock arriving soon") might persuade him to try one out with a TC for us.
- Julian
Yes I've seen that one and you're right the first one is nicer. It just a matter of waiting few weeks before we start seeing more options.

To me it looks like the USB is reversed to what the TC has. On mine, the "wider" side of the USB connector is towards the back of the device. The picture of this cradle looks like it's towards the front.

FYI, for what it's worth, the cradle that I had for me old 8125 works..but is not ideal as it doesn't provide the necessary support for the shape of the TC, and the USB is in the center of the cradle...

Ouch! I think you're right. Do Orange (UK) still sell the 3600? I might pop into an Orange store later today and just have a look at orientation of the connector on the bottom of the device if they have one on display.
Luckily I also agree with Abbsta's last comment "It just a matter of waiting few weeks before we start seeing more options.".

Well spotted Dave.
I can confirm that a cradle made for the P3300 works. I got it half off at the local store and it fits great. Then I guess others like it made for the P3300 would fit as well...

Be really careful. My 3300 cradle most definitely does not fit my TC. The fact is that some 3300 cradles will fit the TC, some won't.
If anyone is considering buying a cradle advertised as compatible with the 3300 but not advertised as compatible with the TC then personally I would strongly suggest that you either do what jrrasch did and physically try one out at a local store or else wait for official TC-compatible cradles. Ordering a 3300 cradle sight-unseen from the internet may or may not get you something compatible with your TC.

You guys in Europe will probably get them before we do in the US. I've contacted a couple of suppliers and they are not going to release anything for the TC until it's widely available in the US, which might take a while. I'm hoping that Mobile Planet will start carrying a cradle soon.
As for a case, I found one for the Moto Q at Best Buy that actually fits the TC pretty well. It's a bit on the loose side, but still protects the TC. I kinda like that it's not too tight since it makes it a bit easier to get the phone out when I need to.
Dave
Re delays in stuff coming out, I suppose it's understandable. These things are just such low-cost items that I suspect HTC don't have any program to get pre-production units out to someone making a $20 cradle so all these third-party cradle manufacturers probably had to wait for units to hit the streets, just like the rest of us, before being able to validate their designs. Maybe companies like Brando with a pretty widely recognised brand might have got some jump on the market, at least for screen protectors, but I doubt many other third-party accessory suppliers did.

Ah. Well spotted. Someone already posted a link in another thread to what looks exactly like this cradle but the link was from the manufacturer or wholesaler trying to get bulk orders from retailers so didn't have pricing and wasn't orderable by the general public. You've obviously found a retailer who has bulk-ordered these for sale to the general public.

Let you know when I get it on the build. Mobilefun have a big problem with getting in stock with new phone items. Took me 4odd weeks to get my diamond desktop cradle!
I got the deluxe cradle from eXpansys as a bundle together with the phone. The price was reasonable that way but if you want to get the cradle on its own, the current price is a lot more expensive there than mobilefun. Also my phone arrived first and had to wait for the cradle more than a week so I guess there aren't many of them around at the moment.
Ebay for 22 pounds has it but it is simple and ugly...but I bought it anyways...
As for what was written on the ebay one you found I got that one too, just ordered it last night, but it not at all nice, or very good looking it seems...Have you seen the blackberry all nickel and black holder...now thats a telephone cradle!!!
I made one myself.....

I'm in oz, I am having the same problem with the, 'available soon' down here also, so I gave the g/f a job to do while she is in the UK.
She has found, as you have, that even the stores that are showing 'in stock' actually dont have any.
One store has told us, 'they had them but have run out but are getting more stock this friday'.
IF they do get them, AFTER the g/f grabs mine, I'll post which shop here.
( price is £22.95 )
try the one from dealextreme, its good
its does his job
Arrived a few days ago brought it off ebay from hong kong only one seller so far
fits snuggly but little hard to get off one handed. Probably it will loosen up.
Lid to the spare battery charger is a bit flimsy worried I will snap it off.
Back has usb power input and usb to your pc.
Does the job and looks nice
bad points are that the lid is flimsy and the blue light that is at the front is very bright, if your like me you have the charger next to your bed then you dont really want a lit up blue room. I will try a black marker to make the light smaller might help maybe not?!

Note that is not the duluxe model but a different one.
http://www.idedata.no/butikk/butikk.asp?m=5&b=295
ordered mine from mobile fun on wednesday afternoon and it arrived yesterday morning - less that 24 hours
it is nice and sturdy, but really required 2 hands to remove the phone because it is so light, but then i guess it would have to weigh a fair bit to allow one handed operation.
As mentioned before the spare battery cover is flimsy as hell but seeing as I dont have a spare battery - this doesnt concern me.
Overall - very happy, it comes with a USB lead AND a wall charger so you can sync to pc and charge at full mains speed.
Well worth £20!

Hi,
I've got one of the slip pouches (FOR SALE) just like the one in the picture except it doesn't have the HTC logo. I ordered it from China and got fed up waiting so bought a different one. If interested drop me a PM.
Cheers
Jon
I just recieved one of the ones in your top photo for my diamond 2 today from a guy in china on ebay, it took about a week to arrive but was a bargain at under £6 delivered.
more can be found here (igonore the ones for the Touch HD):
http://phones.shop.ebay.co.uk/items...8028QQ_ssnZtmiplusQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em282
the case is HTC branded and fits perfectly (no supprise)
I'll take some photos of it this evening.
Hi,
Thanks for your replies
Browsing ebay I've found two alternatives:
The one you pointed out:
Link
Which has some kind of strap to hold the device inside. Dunno how this works though, could you care to provide a brief explanation besides the pics?
Or another one:
Link
Which also states that is HTC original but seems a bit more robust, and the overall built quality seems better, but doesn't have anything to keep the device inside the pouch.
I will order one of these two, just have to decide which one lol
from just looking at those 2 photos i believe they're exactly the same case.
the strap you mention is only on one end and prevents the phone sliding right the way out when you slide it in. the strap material reminds me of a seatbelt but is much thinner. it is also shown on the 2nd photo above, its the lighter grey coloured bit in the end of the case shown. the inner lining of mine is soft felt which i believe is the same as the inner materia shown in the last photo above.
hope this helps!

Ahhh finally I realized that the pouch is open on both sides
My first thought was that it was open on only one side and with the strap on the other one. Thats why I didn't get how the strap was supposed to work.
Thanks GavinAshford for the pics. I will order one of these for my TD2. £5.47 is quite a bargain from my pov
Yep, that's the point of the strap indeed. You can slide your phone inside from either end of the pouch.
I had it inside my phone original box and it's really usefull, doesn't make a big bulge in your pocket (as most of the pouch do), protects perfectly the phone and is very light.

Leather slip
I have one of these pouches and must say that it is quite good for the money. The strap is looped around the inside (assuming that mine is the same as the ones pictured) and allows the phone to be pulled out using the strap, and as you slide the phone back in the strap is pulled tight and secures the phone in place.
For £6 it seems like a bargain.
not sure for europe side but in Singapore, the pouch is part of the sales package.
got it with the sales package...
its really slim and comfortable to carry the device in pocket.
Europe version, as far as I know, does not include this pouch in the sales package

But pretty expensive at 69,- € ...
Wow
Wow, it's pretty expensive!
This is WCD-800 and it's similar to WCD-100 and same price. (From Korea)
wow thats pretty pricey. hopefully there'll be similar Chi chargers for a much lower price.

I bought this cheap charger:
http://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/221422967001?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I hope it works with decent charging speeds.
Does anyone know if wireless charges have any ratings or specifications whatsoever that affects charging?

The phone's not out here yet, but Ill report when I do get it.
I picked two of these up. LG QI charging pads WCP-300 (flat, not stands) for $20 each. Not sure if the deal is still active. but here was the link.

Clove (in the UK) are doing a deal where you get the WCD-100 free when you pre-order the G3, and since their price is only £20 (US$34) more than Amazon UK are doing it for that seems like a pretty sweet deal to me. The RRP for the WCD-100 is £59.99 (US$102) here, so you're effectively saving £40 (US$68)
Can't comment on the charging speed, but if it's like the other wireless charging "solutions" then it'll be slower than a proper cabled connection, but certainly fast/good enough to suit an overnight (/nightstand) or desk charge. I came across a G3 review (sorry, can't find the link) that says that the G3 is smart enough to warn you - with a pop up - when the phone isn't properly docked in the charger. If true then that's a neat feature, all the other wireless charging things I've used only confirm when the unit is docked correctly, (e.g. HP Touchpad "bongs").
Having had the official Samsung S3 charging dock I'll be interested to see if the LG charger supports the phone better than the Samsung's one does, and also if the G3 has a "docked" mode like the S3 does.

This one works just fine with the missus Nexus 5. I see no reason why they will not work w/G3.

thanks, i will have a consider this option until my G3 actually arrives in 9 days time. if the deal is still up, i think i gonna take the plunge.
my other consideration is that it would take about 6 hours to fully charge the 3,000 mAh battery wirelessly?!? that's like... forever...
there is another steal just came out, the incipio wireless charging pad for $13. tried to get that, but turns out that the merchant does not accept overseas paypal account.
I've got one of the cheap chargers from Amazon, it was working with my nexus 4 and then when my g3 arrived it wouldn't work with it.
However, it's not working with my nexus 4 too after trying it again today, so I think I might've just got a dodgey charger. But, someone else on the forum has had the same exact problem I'm having; charging for a couple seconds, then disconnect.
Was thinking about getting the official one, but tbh spending £30ish to stick a wire into something else and charge my phone on that a little bit slower doesn't really seem worth it.

My cheapo charger does not work at all. It detects a device placed but my g3 ignores it. Makes me wonder besides following the Qi standards, what else needs to be in place?

It does get warm near the cam area when playing games. Nothing unusual to me.
Just one time it got extra hot when I was converting from Dalvik->ART and the screen refused to turn off. The conversion took a while to complete as it has to convert over 200 apps.

[Q] usb splitter? provide power and connect mem stick?

ignoring magnetic charging here as i thnk mines a bit wonky.
i'm looking for something that can connect into the usb port but that then lets me plug in a power supply as well as plug in a usb mem stick or something?
(put in accessories but as a question forum told me to post here).
There are many different cheap solutions u can buy.

thanks will give one a shot
tried 1st one - drains power from phone instead of poviding it (when using supplied power cable). doesn't provide power to usb/SD adapter either
not sure whether to risk money on the rest now
sorry I cant se a charging port on the first picture.
The one in the middle has the icon for dc power. Just as it would provide charging power if you connect a normal charger there and then the device into the phone.
I have never had one of these so I cant provide any real life info or review of these devices. But damn u got a hold of one of those quick. It would take me a month to get one of those to my mailbox if I ordered it now.
edit:
it also states it will charge
"2. Charging when you connected the micro usb cable."

It was ages since i shopped there.
amazon is just a ripoff shít page.. they selling everything overpriced with shipping costing more than the item... and combining that with tax and import fee and the possible difference in currency from when total cost is calculated to when the total amount is withdrawn.
You could buy ten units for the price of one unit from Amazon at ebay or aliexpress.
eh... i dont live in a country where amazon is based. Nearest amazon is German amazon. It works using translation at every step until u get order confirmation
eh? it was £5 delivered next day and the ebay link is $6 minus postage to UK so not that bad i think

from china (which to be fair can be quick delivery, or take a while) versus the convenience of having it the next morning when ordering late afternoon?
plus returns have to be considered (as i'm doing with this).
i'm not against ebay and use it a lot, but some things i want "now". not a week or 3 later and willing to pay more for that hence amazon - and only amazon prime and their lockers.

you can ask seller to send the parcel with singapost as they are very fast with delivery. And you can always return item without any problems.
You can also use some social engineering to get refund without even sending the item back. U can also get a new item on top of the refund.
Social engineering is a bit harder with Amazon depending with what office you reach when opening a ticket. Just because amazon has a whole department of people working to prevent these costumers by making it harder. A lot harder.
I agree with you. But I only pay more if I know exactly what item i need. Like a specific spare part if im in a hurry.
heh, i know what you mean about the engineering. i know someone who does that with everyone.
usually when i want something that's not a spare part then i want it asap. a spare hdmi cable or something i can wait and will buy off ebay
