Problem installing .NET CF 3.5 redistributable - Touch Pro CDMA

I searched and couldn't find anything. Stock ROM, new Touch Pro. When I try to install it, the progress bar gets all the way to the end then I get this
Installation error. Stop all applications and processes, maximize available storage space, and run installation again. Support info: 2.

I closed everything, turned off TF3D, and am around 50% of my RAM used. Still no dice. Any advice?

Rename the following file
rename mscoree.dll under windows\ to mscoree.dll.txt
and then reinstall NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab

What will that do?

I've done it twice and it works
Not sure what it does, but I was able to reinstall Net Compact Framework. I forgot where I saw that.

Cheers, renaming that file fixed the problem for me too.

can't find it ANYWHERE
I Have looked high and low for 'mscoree.dll' file. I looked all through windows using file explorer (with SHOW ALL FILES ticked). I've looked in my reged. Closest I can find is in windows called 'coredll.dll0409.mui'. I'm using CDMA stock ROM 1.93 WM6.1. I have not tried netcf install yet, id that why no file?
I know this an old thread, but...
Can anyone PLEASE HELP? Thanks

I'm running the stock ROM, albeit the dumped version, but the mscoree.dll file is indeed there from the factory. I didn't have any issues with the install myself. Just ran the MSI file (while synced) located here.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...49-3C6B-42F1-9FD9-0041345B3385&displaylang=en
It adds another file called mscoree3_5.dll.

Extended ROM Unlocking

Hi guys,
I've got an XDAII and I want to be able to see / edit the extended rom...
I've found the cab files I need (elsewhere in this forum) but I have no idea whatsoever how to use them?!?!
I can't run them, so there must be either an app I need or somewhere I need to put them, right?
Please help
Thx
Have you transfeered the cab file to your phone and executed from there?
It's a cab file. You put it on the XDA II in a folder of your choice, then run it, after reboot you will find a new icon in Programs. The rest is simple.
When I try to run it I get:
The is no application associated with "00unhide". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application.

Please post the link to the exact file so I can download and test it.
I just got it working...
After I downloaded the .cab, as I have WinRar I thought that it was something that needed extracting and it didn't!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=567
that's the link anyway, but it works perfectly!
Sorry for being such a idiot
No problem, hope its all sorted for you now.

[Cab File] Installing .cab files from Windows XP

You don't have to copy the cab to PPC to install the program. You can use this small utility to do the process just like you'll do with .exe files installer.
This utility is posted by Ryubai to PXDXA .
How to:
1. Run the command xp_install.cmd inside the cab2PPCfromXP.zip archive to install the utility as a context menu command.
2. Right-click on the cab file you want to install. You will see "install to ppc" in the context menu. Click it and a dialog with which you are familiar with will pops up......then you know what you should do next.
TQ.
it seems like more effort than simply copying th cab to your device and clicking it
You mean, copying > click to install > set where to install > delete the .cab file is easier then mine. Hahh???
Step 1. is one time execution only. Step 2. is needed whenever you want to install .cab files without the need to copy it over your devices then remove it again to free the space.
But still it's users choice to choose either one.

you're kidding right?
right clicking on a file to install it rather than copying it onto phone, opening up a file manager browsing to the file and running through the installer?
thanks for the effort on this little script. well made
One of the reasons I like copying the cab files onto my SD card is to have them already there for reinstallation. With the amount of ROMs coming out, having them all in a folder on my SD card makes software reinstallation a breeze.
it comes down to personal preference, but it is a nice script which you developed nontheless, many will find it useful.
i do find that the script is nice if you want to test drive a cab you downloaded, or install a cab you made, however i find that if i like the app then i am still forced to copy it to my phone anyway so the extra step is still needed... would cool if you could give it the option to save to a folder on the storage card then execute on the PPC. But a good script nonetheless.
Is it the same as CABviaActiveSync ?

No, it's not mine. It's developed by a user name Ryubai at PXDXA.

Thanks, CabViaActiveSync is what I was looking oddly enough it's the only one that adds an menu listing in the right click of a cab on windows 7 and actually WORKS too for 7..

Cannot Copy ROM Files

Okay, I'm trying to pull out the new IE files from WM6.1 on my startrek, but it won't let me. I superCID unlocked and app unlocked, even redid it after flashing, still no good.
No matter what, when I try to copy "iexplore.exe" or "browser.dll" or any other file that is in ROM, I get access is denied.
Any thoughts on how I can get these out? Or if you know how to pull them right from the rom file, which I tried but failed at...

You can use this program to dump the rom in the folder on storage card. Remove cab extention, put it there and run it.
Please delete this post.

Sorry, what? Don't use the file in your last post?
Όχι, το ποστ αφορά. Μπήκε 2 φορές.
IE files from WM6.1. There are some hidden files in archive.
Rename ie61.zip to ie6.7z (or open by WinRAR)
Thanks Erofich! I tried copying them to my blackjack ii though, and wound up having to hard reset
Running the exe just from the folder though, doesn't have the zoom out feature. I'm not sure if it's running the wrong exe or something else is going on....

Creating cab files for instalation on windows mobile

I will say i haven't searched for this one yet but i probably will a little later if i don't get any quick responses.
Now to my question. I'm trying to create a cab file that i can use to install some registry changes from the performance tweak thread. The file is specifically based on the memory tweak cab file that is available there but because i use the energy standard 6.5.x series roms there are a couple of tweaks that cause the phone to stop booting correctly. So i have extracted all the original files and modified the xml file appropriately. I've then recompressed them into a new cab file but if i try to install it i get an "not installed successfully error" so obviously i'm doing something wrong but i have no idea what. Anyone got any ideas?
What software did you use to make the cab file?
I actually first tried to create it with winace and that was the problem. Winace just creates the cab as a storage file and not as an installable cab file. I've since searched coz i didn't get a quick reponse and found quickcab. Did the trick nicely. I've tested it on my phone and i've now posted the finished file in the energy rom thread. You will find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8078336&postcount=24318
At beginning I create .caps I used QuickCap (in the attachment). In the .zip for you is the Programm and guide only in german but with pictures. I think you can understand it, its very simple. Now i used the WinCE CapMgr, but you must pay for it, so I can't share.

Quickcab did it for me and i will continue to use until it my needs exceed it but i have to say i figured out to use it in about 10 seconds (literally). Kudos to the developers for making a very intuitive and easy to use program. Not many out there that are that specialised and that easy to use.

How Do I Install a Custom Taskbar?

i got a locked hd2 WM 6.5 thats never been modded. i found a taskbar theme that i want to install. how do i install it this taskbar?
How do i also install a custom dialer pad?
Tweaks and mods usually come as a cab - this is a self extracting installation file which you copy to your phone, double click, restart, done.
There is a protection built into the system, especially for the taskbar, you need to install a certification file first - as seen in this thread.

hi, tictac0566. i downloaded the certificate .cab and its on my sd card. but where do i open it on my phone?
It depends, of course, where you stored the cab. Maybe search it with the file explorer, double tap on it, there you go.

certification file is required for few applications which are protected otherwise they won't work. This will not affect the battery life but make sure you install appropriate taskbar as per your ROM build, i.e. 6.5 or 6.5.X. otherwise you may have to hard reset your phone.

sdkcert .cab will work but make sure you download the taskbar for 6.5 only, if you download it for 6.5.X then it will not work and you have to hardreset. Given below are few taskbar threads,
