Mini USB to 3.5 mm jack - Touch 3G Accessories

I wonder if there's any adapter which would enable me to connect a standard 3.5 mm earphone jack to miniUSB port... I checked a few locan dealers and they haven't heard of anything like that

useful 3.5mm adapter
Hi guys,
I just bought a multifunctional adapter for my phone. This way, i can connect my Mogul to my sound system in my Smart Car. it's helpful. Here is the link from where I bought it:
http://www.moguldepot.com/htc-multifunction-audio-adapter/11A75A4401.htm
FYI, it seems to work for earspeaker; but, it doesn't seem to direct sound from loudspeaker applications.
If anyone know how to redirect loudspeaker to 3.5mm, let us know.

Try this
http://shop.brando.com.hk/3-5mm-earphone-adapter-handy-strap-htc-dopod_p02373c0413d001.html
The strap comes off and its a very neat solution if you dont want a mike.

USE Bluetooth
There are so many bluetooth stero headphones.
Much better. You can still take or make calls.
I have sony HBH-DS205. Works great. You can connect any other headphone or even connect to you home theatre systme (with one extra bit of connector).

£1.99
I got one off ebay from a chinese seller for £1.99 i was the only bidder and received it within about 15 days from china and works a treat.

EBAY
guys guys. Just go to ebay and you will get it very cheap. Why would you pay 5X more for same product made in same country.

Basically two good options, either use this:
http://shop.brando.com/htc-mini-usb-earphone-hand-free_p04126c0997d039.html
or somthing from ebay. I managed to pick up an adaptor for £0.99.

Works perfectly.

thanks in advance.

Mini USB to 3.5mm audio adaptor
I'm wondering is the Mini USB to 3.5mm audio adaptor for HTC Jade is something different as compare to any other phone.
As I bought one audio adaptor from local market, something similiar to one mentioned in below link. It is working for other LG and Samsung phone, but not with HTC Jade.
http://cgi.ebay.in/HTC-Audio-Adapte...QptZIN_Mobile_Accessories?hash=item27af84b4cb
Any idea why or what is missing? Please advice.
Thanks!!

I made one myself, I dismantled the original headset provided with the device and soldered a 3,5mm female jack on the pcb with the volume and mic.

What jack adapter ?

I want to plug in a set of speakers with a 3.5mm stereo jack to my K-Jam/XDA Mini S. What adapter do I need to use and would somewhere like Maplin carry one ? It's purely so that the stereo plays properly I am not interested in it being able to use the microphone.
TIA, DBo.
I got a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter for my speakers. I got it from Maplin - £1.06
http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?TabID=1&criteria=3.5mm adapter&ModuleNo=1144&doy=20m4
The Seidio one is the neatest, but not cheap, and I don't know anybody on the UK who sells them.
http://www.seidio-europe.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=94
I have both the maplin one and the Seidio one. The maplin one is very bulky and if you knock it you could possibly damage the 2.5mm socket.
I had the same problem and ended up getting this one. It works great with any headset and it has the program button that the original head set had. It even retracts.

Just bought this one from HK...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8818811804
This boyo allows you to use any headphones of your choice and includes microphone and volume control. Bought this from HK and will probably arrive in around a week. Have bought a similar device for my nokia 9300 which worked absolutely fine except i refused to buy a memory card for it, so that went more or less straight into my 'wires, odds & sods' desk drawer.

What do you mean by "retracts" ? How does it exactly retract? It is stated on their web site too, but there are no pictures..
EDIT: Oh, I get it - the cable retracts so that there is no distraction of tangled cords..

Serena , can you tell me what store that is (I got one by MediaMarkt but it does not fit)
Gents I have bought the same thing here int the US but I have noticed that the sound quality is not the same. I was told that since the 2.5mm has 3 rings on it that when I try to adapt it to a 3.5mm most only have 2 rings. Has anyone noticed this and has anyone found a soloution?
2.5 mm to 3.5 mm stereo adapter
I have bought a number of these on eBay - inexpensive but quality is fine. I prefer type that has a short connector cord, rather than the fat dongle that sticks way out.
Just do an eBay search for "2.5 mm to 3.5 mm stereo adapter" to find current listings.
It definitely does provide stereo.
I think the issue with the 3 rings vs. 2 rings has more to do with microphone function.
I also have a wonderful set of speakers with microphone - the Shure e2c-t - really incredible stereo sound - they are in-the-ear type with dual speakers in each ear - very nice quality unit with thick sturdy cable.
I bought "3.5mm Stereo Headphone Adapter with Built-In Mic & Answer Button" from PPCtechs. The link is:

Mini-USB to 3.5mm Audio Out

I ordered a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptor for my 8125 and they sent me a mini Usb to 3.5mm headphone jack. Upon plugging it in with headphones, it doesn't work and the audio comes out of the 8125's speakers. Is there any way to make this work or should I demand they send me the correct product? Thanks in advance.
Interesting username
What time was it when you placed your order.
Did you really think that the phone would route audio through mini usb.
Send it back and get the correct minijack adaptor.
Thanks for the reply.
They're already sending me the right one, and they said that I can keep the other one. (Not really helpful since I already had and broke a Razr) I've been wanting to use my Wizard in the car with an fm transmitter because my cd player is awful so I wasn't sure if there was any way to use the Razr adaptor in the meantime. I didn't think so, but it was worth at least posting about it.

Where did you order the 2.5 - 3.5mm adapter from? Is it a special adapter...or could I get one from Radio shack? The reason i ask is that my MPX200 needed a special adapter, the radio shack unit didn't work. Thanks!

I'm actually going to go to radioshack myself. I finally received the "correct" item that I ordered on eBay, and the sound only comes out of the left earphone unless my headphones are half unplugged.

I ordered one and it works correctly. You might get one at radio shack, if the pinouts on the rings are correct, which they probably are not. That is why you had to have it "halfway unplugged."

A buddy gave me one that he used on his Treo, it's "L" shapped and works nicely. I think I'm gonna get the one from Pocket PC Techs that has the built in Mic and answer button...then my half ass hands free will be complete. I'm connecting an old Sony Discman tape player adapter to my 8125...actually sounds ok but I hate all the wires. A FM Bluetooth adapter would be nice.

No... I've been searching high and low. I've got a pair of Shure headphones that are amazing and have the 2.5mm 3-pole connector that works perfectly with my HTC Magician... I'd love an adaptor to just run them with my Tytn, but so far no luck.
Currently, I'm using a 3.5 adaptor and then another adaptor to the ExtUSB connector, so I've got no mic capability and two dodgy connectors between my 100 GBP headphones and my phone!!!
I'm going to take my Shures to an electronics guy and have him swap the connector eventually.

this is where our stores get their accy's from, you can get allot of good stuff here.

if you have a bussiness/Tax/reseller liscense (mispelled) then you can buy from here.
With the risk of a "me too" post, a 2.5mm converter would be worth money to me. I have yet to find one anywhere and am about to buy an extra headset and start "experimenting" and who know where that will lead. Probably to a new phone.
I emailed HTC America and got this reply...
Hello Michael and thank you for contacting HTC America. Unfortunately we do not make any accessories other than what is included with the device. There are some 3rd party vendors that do offer this accessory however; they are not affiliated with HTC. Please see the following link for one of them:
http://www.cell-phone-accessories.com/emu-headset-adapter.html.
Thanks,
HTC Support
I have one on order. I'll let you know if it works.
Michael
Hope?
Hi Michael --
Please let us know if this does work. This would be a great fall-back adaptor to use if/when my BT headset runs out of juice.
Thanks,
-Humbert
I just finished my request to HTC support. These devices do NOT work. No audio what so ever. I tried regular audio as well as the audio of a call. Nothing-nada. The adapter is stamped as "Motorola" on the back. Apparently the HTC version of the USB plug is not the standard "EMU" version that everyone else is using.
Michael
Ugh, why didn't they just add a standard 3.5mm headphone jack? That would have made everyone's lives a lot easier.
I just bought the Motorola adapter, ended up wasting $5 (not a lot, I know, but hey, it's money).
Maybe I should try for a refund...
If anyone knows any adapters that work with the Hermes/TyTN, I would love to know.
Well, I finally found an option that will work for me. My motorcycle has a 2.5mm plug for hooking a cell phone into the intercom system (it's a gold wing) It also has a 3.5mm plug for an aux device to the stereo. I got the moto hf820 from amazon for around $45. It is a bluetooth hands free device, but it also has a 2.5mm plug on it. So, the phone section of my 8525 now connects to the bluetooth 820 into the intercom through it's 2.5mm plug. For the rest of the audio, I am using one of the extusb to 3.5mm adapters. That way I'll be able to get my gps directions over the stereo. That is a long way around to do it, but the 820 seems to work out pretty well as a 2.5mm adapter.

Holy ****, what a rube goldberg device!!!! But, I like your ingenuity. I ride myself (BMW GS) and so I just may try to cobble together something similar to yours...
However, most people want the wired headset so that they don't have to rely upon bluetooth. I want a fall-back headset.
To be honest, I found the perfect BT headset, and so I'm not sure if I need a wired connection anymore. I bought a jawbone and have been using it for 2 months. I like it so much, I bought a *second* one for when I run down the batteries on the first one, I can just use that one. Sure, it costs me $120 a pop, but after using 6 different bluetooth headsets over the last few years, this is the first one where people can't tell that I'm on a headset. Yes, it's that good.

That it is! I have the Kennedy CellSet (www.cellset.com) on my goldwing that integrates the cell phone as if it is a 3rd party on the intercom. Makes it kind of nice because either me or my wife can take a call while we are riding if needed. Anyway, I had the adapter for a 2.5mm plug and they don't make an adapter for the extusb of the HTC so hey, this works. Not only that, the GPS audio and the phone audio are on two different channels on the bike now. Worked out pretty good.
Hi there!
I'm interested in that problem too. So is there an adapter what is working, and tested yet?
If not, maybe we should try to cut down one ExtUSB to 3,5mm adapter and cut down the 2,5 mm side of the headset, and then maybe it can be built together, and we have a headset, with ExtUSB port.
Is it a possible way? Maybe any alternatives? God I'll be really happy if we can do something to do with this
Could always try this

2.5 and 3.5 fix for USB
I too have an expensive Shure headset with a 2.5 connector that I used on my Cingular 8125. I just moved to a Cingular 8525 e/w the ExtUSB connector.
I have been working with the tech support guys at Shure and we have sort of a fix. My Shure headset has a Mic so it needs a 4 conductor cable and the corresponding 4 wire jacks to carry voice to the handset. BIG issue. None of the current connectors (Ext USB to 2.5 or 3.5) carry the 4th wire! They will carry audio out over the 3 wires. . . stupid I guess.
So Mobile Planet and others now have a TyTN (Titan) Cingular 8525 cable adapter that is made by ORA and has its own mic, and answer/hangup control and ends in a 3.5 jack for a headset (3 wire). This means that if you have a 2.5 jack on your headset you need another adapter to reduce the 3.5 to a 2.5 (+/- $10.00 US).
Then you use the mic in the adapter. This is a real mickey mouse rig but it works and you do not have to buy another very expensive headset. You just cannot use the mic in your expensive headset! The cable is also a little long since the adapter's cable is about 20".
If you are thinking of buying a good wired headset then use the ORA adapter (Shure is about to come out with one also) and a standard Shure 3.5 headset like the SE series ($150+) which has a shorter cable. The two work nicely together. It is what I am using now. see link below:
but they really really work well . . . and are worth the $$s
However, does anyone know if the HTC P3350 W100 Wired Remote Control(http://www.mobileplanet.com/p.aspx?i=145859) will work on an Cingular 8525?

My WING came with one, my G1 did not, are you sure yours had a CHARGER adaptor?? This looks good and sells on eBay for $5.50 total. Search for : HTC Touch Pro Diamond mini USB, 3.5mm Audio Adapter
Shouldn't HTC just put this $5.50 adaptor in the phone? Unbelievable!
Combine with with a carcharger and last.fm & streamfurious on your phone and VOILA you have SIRIUSXM except with thousands of channels as long as you are within cellphone Edge/3G service.
For a headphone only option (not recommended as you drain your battery so fast its not even funny) you can try this one for 45 cents SHIPPED:
Search for: 3.5mm USB Audio Adapter for HTC Touch Diamond PPC-6800 on eBay and the seller is gpslot
Go it Ultimate Ears!

RC E100 for the G1?
Hihi, I recently bought the HTC RC E100 (http://www.blueunplugged.com/p.aspx?p=137320). On that site it says that G1 works with it. But it doesn't? I tried it, and sound still comes out of the speakers.
Now it said that I need a driver from the disc or from the HTC site. I tried to install that, but it says that the phone is already updated and needn't update anymore.
Does anyone else have this headset, and have it working on their G1's? Thanks!
edit: Well upon researching, apparently it doesn't work. Stupid misleading site is misleading.
There was a set of headphones that came with the G1, you should see if you can get those or see if tmobile will give you some for free if they didnt come with yours.
I was almost tempted to purchase these or get the doopad ones(rc-w100) off amazon for a little cheaper. I was wondering if the g1 will even be able to have this function through the ext.usb? I know the drivers for winmo phones won't work but is there even the slightest bit of possibilities?
I know A2DP is comming for bluetooth but is there going to be an AVRCP profile also?
Apple In-Ear Headphones on Dream G1
Anyone had a chance to try it out?
I can't seem to find a single post anywhere talking about what the music quality is like or whether any advanced features like volume control work or whether calls work using the microphone.
Side story: I went into the Apple store to try it out and the store nazi said I could not try them on due to hygiene reasons. Fair enough, but he then even declined taking them out of the packaging so that I could just handle them and talk into it on a call to see if it worked. So instead I handled the box instead, ShopSavvy scanned it and then accidentally dropped it onto the somewhat dirty floor. Oops.

miniUSB - Jack adapter

Hi there!
So I've just bought brand new HTC Topaz. The first thing i've noticed is lack of jack (for my headphones) port. So I went to the store, and bought miniUSB -> Jack adapter for Motorola V3/L6 I guess.
The problem is: it is not working I put it in, connect my headphones and nothing. When I try to play a music, it goes through the phone speaker. Image shaowing the adapter can be found here:

The problem is: it is not working I put it in, connect my headphones and nothing. When I try to play a music, it goes through the phone speaker. Image shaowing the adapter can be found here:

Thanks for your time

Guess your problem is there, maybe that one has minus a pin in the mini usb port, return that one and see if you get one compatible with your HTC, if not check on ebay there are tons of those adapters for our HTC's
Well, the problem is that the ones *HTC Branded* are much more expensive, and I don't want to spend 10$ on stupid 11-pin -> 3-pin adapter... But the way I see it, there is no other option :-(
Hmm, maybe I could somehow mend together the one from HTC shipped headephones and the jack-part from ones that I bought.
Have a look at this thread:

Bought one myself and am quite impressed by it. I also have a dedicated mini usb to headphone one that seems to work fine. Branding on the side of that one is 'WELL'. Also found it on Ebay.
Found some pics of the smaller one:

And the larger one which has sockets for charging, 2.5mm headphones, 3.5mm headphones and also a mini usb headphone socket:

Well, since shipping it to my country would cost fortune, I'll have to buy it here, somewhere. Already found one that matches HTC. Hope it will work !
Thanks for replies.
