Here is my first attempt at a WM6.5 ROM.
It is pretty much like my 6.1 ROMs found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502421 but built on 6.5.
I suggest to use the same HotFixes.

I am guessing it is not as good since 6.5 itself uses more resources.

Really? I heard from a ton of people the 6.5 was better with battery life. hm. did you apply your tweaks to this one though?

Yes...all same tweaks. I guess I assumed wrong. I haven't played with it long enough to see what the battery life is like. The battery life seemed normal for the amount of time I used it and what I was doing (surfing with wifi, bluetooth on and running through everything besides for the phone and GPS

My personal experience with all but one 6.5 is that battery life is waaayyyy above 6.1 builds. I even cooked one myself with DA_G's kitchen and was getting > 2 days, with normal use, would probably have gotten > 3 days but it was too long between flashing, getting withdrawals. Honestly I don't know why the Elite chefs are staying with 6.1. 6.5 is much more responsive and definitely seems less buggy than the overtweaked 6.1's.

Im using it right now. I remember a week ago I left it on all night by accident on EDGE, with wifi on, and bluetooth on, from around midnight to 9 AM, it only lost 30 % of battery. I was shocked.
Ill be on a long trip tomorrow to go check out some colleges, so Ill see how long the battery actually lasts me
Hehe ive flashed very build of 6.5 since 21159 so know it well , ill be glad to test & leave feed back tomorrow.
Edit: just first little tidbit, during first boot before customaztion it shows a 6.1 splash screen(while not sure) im fiarly sure this is coming from the bootup animation, check the package...
if it meant to be there...ok lol

very surprised how fast and stable 6.5 has gotten : ) this rom is awesome for everyday usage, only things i noticed were few dead links in start menu which u probably are aware of. awesome that htc black theme is in this rom last 6.5 rom i used few weeks back it wasnt present so good rom no probs here.
Also noticed those dead links -- for the winmo pictures app as well as for file explorer.
interestingly, if you add the links to the tf3d programs list, they work there -- but that confuses me. when you add a program to the tf3d list, isn't it just getting the info from the .lnk inside windows/start menu?
BTW - How did you get the menu enhancement working on this build of 6.5? I wasn't able to on my own build off Da_G's kitchen. Did you scale back to an earlier gwes?

I found the dead links too. I am not sure why they are like that but will look into it.
I am making new folder icons for 6.5 since you can use a bit higher res and I believe more color options too.

I replaced the OEM folder that came with Da_G's kitchen with my own OEM folder. Then I copied over the autorun.exe, checkautorun.exe and checkautorun.lnk from his OEMDrivers folder to mine to get the customization to work. I did not do anything else to the SYS folder or replace any other files. Everything just worked for me. If you want my packages let me know and I can post them.
Come to think about it. It might be because my RGU file in the OEMDrivers is edited for it to work and since I switched OEM folders that could be it.

On the packages -- sure, if you get a chance, although I think I'm holding off a making a new ROM until after a new version of 6.5 drops. But I'd love to poke around and see what I can learn.

32M at boot I am running numerous apps and no problems......smooth and fast......I had 7 apps open at once and it ran them no problem....Skyfire, messaging, etc.......I have TL loaded and still sit at 25-26M....this is by far the best ROM I have run and it is not finished yet.....the camera is not loaded until NO2Chem finishes working on it....if your looking for memory....this is for you!!!!!

I just went up there and only see 6096-3pre1. Is that the rom you are talking about. Also,is it true these will work on Sprint only?
Donate, it is well worth it. Even if its only a small amount, it helps him out alot. and 3pre1 is the latest release. it is a very very stripped down version of wm but it works wonderfully. I can actually do stuff on my mogul now. Biggest noticable loss is no more camera, but he is working on that. IMO, best rom out there right now. Hands down. worth any penny in donations. I plan on donating more when i have the money to

works on my verizon got my internet and my vzw stuff
its an impressive beta release but no nuetools *sniffs*
just installed this. the screen switch is REALLY quick. my jawbone works nicely as well.
gmaps/voice command are fast too.

I donated, downloaded, and flashed. It's got a lot of memory available, but it's still buggy.
I went back to dcd 3.2.6, which also has good memory and is much less buggy with a working camera.

What is buggy? I have mine loaded up with apps and have no issues at all...I had a scrolling issue where it kept scrolling on its own once....that was I first installed everything which was much earlier in the day.....been running 8-10 hours with no more issues at all.....
I flashed preview 1 last night, pulled out battery, put it back in, loaded my apps, and it ran like sh*t all day today. Great memory but very slow, buggy, half of my programs didn't work, and the battery life was terrible.
Since everyone else seemed to be having a grand time with it, I figured it was my error, and of course it was.
All it took was another hard reset, reinstall, now it runs like a charm
I've always heard people talk about these complex post-flashing rituals, but I figured it wasn't necessary. Well i guess it is a good idea to pull the battery, AND hard reset after a flash after all.

The on-screen keyboard is buggy, you can't see the bottom row of characters.
I think enlarge start menu caused some problems with weirdness in the start menu.
I'm not a fan of the stock dialer, and when I tried to cab install the vogue dialer, the icon for call history was transparent to the today screen.
It seemed to run slower than dcd's rom after I added all my usual programs, even though I had more ram available.
I did not build from the kitchen, just added cabs to the pre-build, so maybe a kitchen build would be more stable. It could also be some non-compatable program that added overall bugginess.
Obviously no camera is kind of a bummer, even though i don't really use the camera all that much anyways.
Overall, I'd say it's a big step forward, and is groundbreaking in some ways. However, I still feel that today, dcd 3.2.6 is overall a more solid rom.
Sprint Users Only? Not really
Per No2Chem, the flash-ready rom is for Sprint. But the kitchen allows you to choose any carrier. I built mine from the kitchen. It took a little time to figure out how to use the kitchen and I can explain if someone needs helps.
Adjust OOM...?
Does anyone know what the 2 "Adjust OOM" options do in the nueROM3 kitchen?
I tried to find answers before posting but was unsuccessful. I just figured since the kitchen and rom itself were so stripped down, that No2Chem would not have made it a point to include them if they were useless, so yesterday I just checked them both and my phone seems fine so far...
Also - I tried posting this question on http://www.nuerom.com but when I hit "save comment" it just sits there and does not actually submit my post. Maybe I'm not signed there? is the login different than the donator login?

1...on screen keyboard issue yes...
2 I am runnning Quick menu
3 I am running the Minimal dialer with no probs...
4. In my opinion it is the fatest rom I have used outside of JD's ROM
5. I added all of my apps and regedits through SASHAMI......and added a few OEM's through NuePackage installer.....
6 Camera is an ssue but he is working on that and I knew there was no camera before flashing....I know no camera is a deal breaker for now.....
It is a pre-release but I am sure it will all be working fine when the final build is done....but mine seems to be running fine really....
I am running my setup with WAD and WA3 as startup, usually always a slow go on my titan. I boot up with 27+mb of memory. I set my pagepool at 10 when i made the rom and am very happy. pre0 was a deal breaker for me cause he didn't have working bluetooth. But now that its in the rom again, i couldn't be happier.

It has to do with the "Out Of Memory" in windows mobile. (see here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms911907.aspx) Changing that basically adjust the way WinMo handles OOM's. By lowering the threshold, WinMo doesn't close down apps as eagerly as normal.

I also must add that having the extra RAM makes this phone an entirely different beast for me. iGO8 and Opera Mobile 9.5 caused some issues before due to how RAM hungry they are. Now, they are not a problem. But not having the camera is kind of a bummer, and the keyboard is horrible . But I will continue testing because this has MAJOR potential

Alright guys I think this might be the last of the beta testing it seems pretty stable now If anyone gets problams let us know so we can get it fix as soon as possiable. I have been useing this rom with all options for about 24 hours the mem holds good and is prety quick. Im still working on the kitchen for updates, as in reg updates and oems that people might want.

Not really alot that i see just alot faster. I havn't testest the gps yet etither. But i would not recomend it for a everyday rom till we finish it, and clean it up.

start menu fix will come up tommorrow i got alot of stuff cleaned up. If you want to fix the start menu tonight reflash without start menu animation in build os.

Check out EnergyROMs. They are the fastest. Will have to charge the device more often though.

To answer your question realistically - just flash each ROM until you find one you like. We can't tell you what you like, only you can.
You may get some unpleasant responses if any at all. As noted it is best to just try a few and see what you like.
I find the Energy ROMs to be the fastest. They do drain the battery. I am on the latest Energy ROM Phoenix 3.0 which I loaded yesterday. I really like everything about it. It is very responsive, but battery drain is noticable. I unpluged from the charger this morning at 6:00am with a full charge. Now it is 3:20pm so 9 hours later I am at 37% charge. I have had only afew charges, but several soft resets which probably help drain the battery. For me this is fine. I am rarely away from a charger for long periods. I'll let this one go close to zero to see if it makes a difference for future cycles. BTW, the soft resets were intentional, not based on any problems. ...just me fiddling with the phone.
I also really like the RRE Roms. Very responsive, but the latest version has a new mod that messes up the Home key, so I switched to Energy. I really liked the RRE roms prior to the latest release. You may like the new Home key modification, but it does not work for me. I could not figure out how to get rid of the mod easily, so I switched.
Other good Chefs I have tried are Shep211 & xECK29x. There are other great chefs, but I have not tried them all extensively.
Of Course you can always go with the Iron Chef; Da_G and build your own. He has snappy stripped down ROMS that you can add your own stuff to.
Play around with several and you will get an idea about what to look for.

I'm pretty sure all of the ROMs based on 6.5 Build 21234 have the Home key open the start menu... I believe it's because of new drivers in the 4.1 kitchen or something.

I think Da_G has the new Mod in all of the new Ktichens, so over time, this will become the only option.

Yea but I'm sure Da_G or others will make CABs to revert to the old way. It's really not that bad though. Home key is for start menu, back key is for "OK", green key is for phone, and red key is to take you back to the home screen. In the old way, Home key and red key did the same thing.

Actually the Start Menu button is a simply driver update, keypad.dll. There is already a cabbed version over in the Da_G WM6.5 Kitchen thread, or just copy the keypad.dll to the \Windows\ folder manually and reset.
To the OP:
Energy Roms are really nice and seem to be the answer to your question. He has a WM6.5 version out there along with several WM6.1 versions.
All Roms usually have something unique they bring to the table. Da_G uploads basic builds with no extra software other then standard Windows Mobile stuff. Da_G gives a good base to customize the phone you want.
Me personally, I was never a fan of the TouchFlo3D interface and I choose to use the new WM6.5 homescreen. So I built one that didn't have it in there. And I've found, in my own opinion, that WM6.5 build 21222 to be really fast, pretty much bug free, and has GREAT battery life. Out of all the WM6.5 builds, 21222 is my favorite.
You can try it if you like. I uploaded the last Rom I cooked because it has been so awesome for me. It uses a WM7 skinned Titanium homescreen instead of TouchFlo3D, but you can manually install TF3D as an alternative if you wish. It has all the latest drivers for the Home = Start button, extra bluetooth profiles, and the newer mods/fixes from Da_Gs newer kitchens.

Yes, I have dial up and its not even 28.8 dial up either.. so i'm asking all of you who have tried some of these roms to help me pick which one to download.
I'm not really sure what i'm looking for, I have an AT&T Fuze, i did get 1 downloaded, it seemed ok and everything but seemed alittle slower then what im used to..maybe its just me as this is the first time i've ever tried to do anything like this.
I see alot of ones that say MANILA and NO MANILA, which is better?
Da_G's ultra clean, prob one of the smallest fastest ROMs. Mine would take forever to download!

Im looking for stablity with a mix of "extras and preformance" I've done some reading on some and i have no idea what some of the extra progams do LOL
im used to charging my phone every other day as it is...
they dont have a rom out there that installs the "basics" and has an app to where you can download//install only the extras you want do they?
ohh forgot to add, no Manila means smaller... smaller in download size.. or smaller in impact on preformance?

Im looking for stablity with a mix of "extras and preformance" I've done some reading on some and i have no idea what some of the extra progams do LOL
im used to charging my phone every other day as it is...
they dont have a rom out there that installs the "basics" and has an app to where you can download//install only the extras you want do they?
ohh forgot to add, no Manila means smaller... smaller in download size.. or smaller in impact on preformance?

Smaller download size and slightly better performance since Titanium (the default WM6.5 Today Plugin) uses less resources than Manilla.
EnergyROM was good and stable for me, as well as RRE (although v6 seems to be a little slower than previous ones).
Da_G's clean ROMs are a good base, but you would have to download cab files for all the extras you want to install.

ok, so i'll start downloading Da_G's and i'll look at the EnergyROM... Is there a post w/ cabs and what they do? or is that pretty much one of those "find it when you need it" things?

heres a question: do you have the data plan on your phone?
if you do, and you have already flashed your phone with a cooked rom, why dont you just teather it. Then you would have a connection that will kill any dialup connection, and allow you to download more, faster.

I do, but its only like 100mb a month. I only use it when there's bad weather/im lost.. LOL

I'm using an RRE 6.5 Rom. Pretty stable so far, i've been using it for about 2 months already. If you want a barebones rom, go for Da_G. if you want the simplest but has almost anything you need, go for RRE.

Your phone has wifi go to a friends or somewhere and download to a memory card, if you don't have one you can get 1 or 2 gigabyte one dirt cheap. I know you can get RRE ROMs direct to phone. Be creative.

Hey, sorry if this has been answered, but I have been poking around XDA and PPCGeeks and havent found an answer...
Is there a .cab file for Sense UI (Manila 2.5)?? or are there only roms with it cooked in?
Id like to keep the rom im running (stable, fast, and most importantly customized to my liking)

No. There is not and likely never will be a cab (or cabs) for sense. There's just too much stuff for a cab. It really needs to be cooked in.
there is a cab for manila 2.1 (which is almost just as good if you. can live without home screen weather,screenshots of your favorite sites/apps,colored tabs and a twitter tab).ive resorted to hunting it down and installing it on my htc 2.01 rom after numerous custom roms on here with this manila and the sense kept crashing on me, this is actually the only thing i have wanted out of those roms anyway.
Can you post a link to a version that works on the TP? Can't seem to find it.

I installed this and here is what has happend thus far.
Installed without any errors... so far so good
Rebooted first time and it came up with an error with services.exe. Hit ok and it loaded sense... so far so good again... until it froze solid after about 30 seconds of it being loaded.
Reset it with the reset button as it was totally locked up, came up with same services.exe error and froze up right around the same time. Reset it again.
This time it came up without the services.exe error... seemed to work a bit longer until it froze up solid again.
Did a few more resets with no change. Decided to deactivate it from the today items.
Deactivated it before it was able to freeze. Restarted again and now it's not freezing.
Tried to re-enable TF3D and nothing. It unchecks itself after I hit OK.
Reset again and tried again. Same thing.
Now trying to uninstall it. Taking forever and not sure if it will totally remove it or not.
Maybe I am having trouble because I am using the Stock ATT 6.5 rom. I am really trying to avoid putting on a Custom rom as I have always had problems with them on my old phones (Wizard, TytnII).
Anyone else try it yet and had success?
Sad thing is, it works pretty smoothly until it just stops and locks up.
BTW, using the ATT Tilt 2.... my sig is pretty old.
guess I am the only one to try this cab on a TP2?
