Need a good protective case - Touch HD Accessories

Im looking for a good protective case --- Ive been riding my MTB and the phone is always in my pocket _(the pocket can get bumped into the steering wheel--i dont know the righ word for bike-- and the phone gets wet in my pocket from all the heat from me--phone is in original pouch--)_
So Im looking for a case that has a soft inside(so phone cant get scrached), metal or other hard and light material(like carbon, so the phone can take some hard hits in case i fall of my bike and get knocked in the road),, and the case must not be bulky (so it can fit in my pocket)..
Anyone knows a case like this or a similiar one??? I need suggestion for a good and safe case!!!

up it!!!!!!!!

just bought a PDair AluminiumCase for my Touch HD. seems quite protective around the edges, but has a plasticfront-window (so you can see the screen) and lots of holes (for cam, plugs, speaker and buttons) so at least it won't protect from any wetness.
its really lightweighted and adds ca. 2mm to the sides in thickness and is ca. 5mm thicker than the phone itself (there are ca. 3mm space between the screen and the frontcover.
inside its coated with a thin neopren, so no worrys about scratches.
but i think in terms of stability its the best you can get so far.
sorry for the bad english, i hope its understandable enough

one question -- does it fit in the original htc pouch???
your english is pretty good so dont worry we understand you!!!

No, it does not fit the pouch. On the other hand you do not need the pouch anymore. This case is really very robust and protects your phone optimally, 3 times already I've been most happy that my phone was in it - half a meter is no fun with the pouch or any less robust case...

this is plastic and leather but it's $3.48 including shipping: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.22615
I ordered mine a while ago and still haven't gotten it but that's Deal Extreme...

I also bought the pdair metal case. it is great but unfortunately it scratched my upper rigth corner a bit...

Did not scratch on mine. Sometimes, you may encounter "polish" traces, which can you remove by using a white rubber.
When you remove the device from the case, remove it either from the bottom or the top side.

did it exactly like you said, but while in my pocket the upper part of the case was kind of pressed against the hd and scratched it. unfortunatelly i have no camera atm, so i cannot make a picture.

suggestion for case to fit extended battery?

hi i want some suggestions to buy a case in which i can fit the cingualr 8525 with the extended battery ?
seems like no one here is using the phone with extended battery and putting it in the case
I'm wondering the same thing!
there's a reverse clip holder in the case recommendations thread, it's not a complete case though as it only covers the front portion of the phone. would prefer a better solution though.
No
Your best bet would be to get this:
http://www.boxwave.com/products/activecase/active-case-cingular-8525_2110.htm
Use the top piece to protect your phone and for the bottom piece, you could color the deminsions with a marker on the case, then use a coat hanger, hold it under a fire (such as on a gas stove) until its red hot, then burn through the case and follow the lines you made through, until the panel is off, allowing the battery to poke out through the case. It would be risky, take alot of time but its worth it. If you want you can test it with this case, but I dont recommend this case at all, its cheap and its belt holster is garbage:
http://www.meritline.com/trans-smoke-cover-for-htc-8525.html
Sonic I just received the $4.99 black case. I will try your method now. Thanks.
Hehehe I messed up the case. For some odd reason the bottom piece won't lock into the cell phone. I'm going to look for a silicone black skin so I would just cut out the piece with a knife or something...

Nope I haven't had that problem. Only thing problem I got so far is that the front cover comes often.

Otterbox Defender screen cut wrong?

I'm looking at an installed Otterbox Defender, and I'm disturbed to see the plastic sheet is cut way too low on the screen, around the earpiece. The shape of the black plastic shell alone is sufficently large enough to clear the sensors/ffc/speaker. There was no need for them to die cut the screen too. This creates a literal pocket for dirt to collect against the screen. Is that how they all are? That's an unforgivable flaw.

What a stunningly foolish design. All the had to do was glue $0.005 worth of thin fabric between the plastic (doesn't matter since the LCD isn't there) and that would protect the entire front, plus the speaker.
I'm thinking of getting some really light fabric, coating it with silicone, and pressing it in place. Shouldn't affect speaker quality, silicone is soft so no chance of glass damage, and it would essentially waterproof (to a degree of course) the entire front.
The commuter screen protector sucks too. It was flawless for the EVO, but doesn't fit the 3d right
It fits my screen just fine.
The only thing that doesn't fit is the top part of the silicone casing. Everything else is super.

Couldn't agree more. I see this as a huge design mistake.
I saw this too, but I really did not think much of it. I guess there is no such thing as a perfect case.
Sent in 3D using my EVO.
Put a full screen protector on it before case and its fine love mine no issues love it no dust issues.
That's the way the case was made no issues.

I returned it to Best Buy, and got the Platinum Series - 2-in-1 Covert Convertible Case for HTC (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Platinu...18353391762&skuId=2809635&st=evo 3d&cp=2&lp=3). I haven't decided if I'm keeping it yet though.
When I returned it, I feared getting a hard time since technically it was open (even there are no seals on the box) but as soon as I briefly showed the guy the top of the case, where it's cut too low, he was absolutely shocked and said "that looks like it was designed to collect grit and be suicide for your screen" and happily exchanged it.
And yeah, you can (and should I guess) use a screen protector too, but it's just so silly for a case that was designed to be the toughest, most rugged thing to have such a glaring vulnerability. I'd rather they addressed that, than put time and effort into putting a plug over something else. I'd rather get my 2D/3D switch dirty if it meant they would have focused more effort on the most important thing - the screen. And given how tightly and accurately the plastic case fits, why did they have to make the hole for the proximity/speaker/ffc so sloppy and loose? They could have cut that thing out with submilimeter accuracy, and it would have fit great, since there is no need for wobble-room/slop when that case otherwise fits so perfectly.
The Defender does feel very nice in hand though, very solid, and I loved the silicone they used. Had a wonderful feel, not the usual tacky silicone you see in "gel" cases or whatever you call them.

I checked the case ur talkin about out felt flimsy compared to the defender also less protection otter box defender takes the cake there. I didn't like the gay flap they had on the convert to cover the camera lens wait for ballistic to.come out with there case if your wanting a tank.

Yeah, I agree. But for me, the best case I ever had for my Evo4G was the Seidio Surface (or BB rebranded equivalent). My plan was to get an ultrarugged case for those days I'm working outside in the field (haha, literally) and the Surface for regular daily use. So that's why the Convert case sorta fits both bills. But I agree, for someone that needs extreme protection daily, the Convert isn't as good as others like the Defender.

Hope it works out for u man. I think ballistic would be good just that thing is a freaking tank. hope u have good luck with finding a case man.
Yeah, I quickly noticed the dust issue there too, but hey, compared to the bubbles that inevitably arise with stick-on screen protectors? I'll take it. I was able to get a swiffer cloth underneath the gap and managed to rid some of the dust that way. The only other option I might consider, if it becomes a real issue later on, is to poke a piece of a feather duster under the protector and gently swab it every so often. FYI- If you use the plastic clip while in your pocket (With the screen facing the backside of the clip), then it won't pick-up that much dust.
Other than the aforementioned, this case is everything I really ever wanted in a protective shell. I love the lens covers, screen protector, double layer of hard/soft protection, and how it fits the device like a glove. I think we can always find an issue with something if we look hard enough, but this thing rocks.

Slippery - Need some way to add grip without a big case?

The 920 feels really slippery to be. I'm sure I'll drop it at some point when using it one-handed.
I don't want a big protective case, but just something to add texture to the back of the phone.
Is there some kind of texturized skin I could stick on? (Ideally with no residue if I remove it)
Or some other rubber that would stick on the back?
Or even a really thin silicon case?
I can't be the only one with this problem, has anyone else noticed this and found a good solution?

I agree that the phone is slippery ... and I started by using a gel case ... which worked, and it had knobby grips on the edges of the case -- and that worked very well to stop dropping the phone (I did that several times before I put the case on it).
Then I tried a phone with the Nokia CC-1043 case ... but that also was too slippery for me. I tried some egrip (they are non sticky things that will "stick" to most any surface ... and if you want something on the back of the phone -- there are pads that are 1" by 2" (about) that would work. However, for me, I wanted something on the edges -- so that I could get it out on the vertical holster that I use. The egrips on the edges did not stay formed along the curve of the case ... so I modified the CC-1043 with some grooves on the edges -- which really works great!
I was going to post some pictures, but I don't have access to a web site for the insertion ... If you send me a private message, I can send you the pictures ...
The grooves were made using a bandsaw with a block of wood taking the place of the phone to provide stability to the case as it was cut ... and there was a block of wood to stop how far into the blade that the case would go, and resulted in a cut that is about 1/2 mm deep ... it provides enough grip to grab the phone out of the case and while holding it -- most of what my hand / fingers are touching are the edges of the phone ...
It depends on which color you have. The blue and red are not as slippery. But I have Ghost armor on mine and it gives it a slightly tacky feel in addition to protecting it from scratches. Mine is red.
I have the black one (matte finish).
Is this the egrips you mentioned? http://www.egrips.com/
It sounds like that might be too much grip. I don't want to have trouble getting the phone into/out of my pocket. I just want more grip so that I don't constantly feel like it's going to fly out of my hand.
I looked at the case you mentioned here and it sounds good: http://www.amazon.com/Nokia-02733P4-CC-1043-Cover-Lumia/dp/B009T8YXCA but having some texture built-in would be nice (as opposed to your DIY grooves).
So I looked at related products and found the following:
http://www.amazon.com/Worldshopping-Black-Matte-Quicksand-Accessories/dp/B00A1Z3U3S/ref=pd_sim_cps_7
http://www.amazon.com/JKase-Premium-Quality-Nokia-Streamline/dp/B00A1UPHYS/ref=pd_sim_cps_17 (the sides of this seem ideal)
http://www.amazon.com/Fosmon-Series-Protective-Nokia-Lumia/dp/B009YLCFZY/ref=pd_sim_cps_3 (don't like the color)
http://www.amazon.com/NOKIA-LUMIA-HYBRID-RUBBERISED-COVER/dp/B009YB0P5G/ref=sr_1_1 (mentioned by a reviewer above)
Can anyone speak for those cases? Probably going to make a decision between those 5 in a day or so.
I had a case like the JKase ... and it is OK, but it adds some noticeable weight to the phone ... it is the one with knobby sides ... it has a very thin strip along the front-bottom of the case that is along the micro USB connector and the speakers ... it never was straight, but it also didn't seem to provide much function ... read other posts that said that they cut it off ...
Don't know about the other cases ...
The egrips link that you have are the ones that I tried ... I always use a case and never just in the pocket -- so I don't know if it would cause a problem ...
Like I said, I like the Nokia case after the modification ... before it, it was still at risk of being dropped ...

The cc-1043 cases is matte see my ebay sale!
Electrical tape to a thin plastic case.
Simple, thin, and adds a lot of grip. However, it can cause issues if you work in a very hot environment as the tape will goop and slip. Otherwise, I do this with almost all of my devices.
Add texture to slippery cell phone
To make your phone less slippery, you can add textured stickers to it. The kind that you would put on the bottom of the bathtub to prevent slips.
I bought some good ones at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. You can cut them into any shape you want. They were actually shaped like fish. I cut them into strips and put a few on the back of the phone and on the sides.
You can find them in many colors.
Amazon has a good selection.
Surprised nobody has mentioned Ghost Armor. It's perfect for what you want.
I bought their MatteArmor for the back of my Samsung Galaxy tablet and to provide a matte finish instead of it's slippery plastic.
Increased holdability (made up word lol) and maintains the look of the device because it's transparent and thin.
It's that good I paid to have it shipped from the USA to UK. Lifetime warranty, 30 day money-back guarantee
Here's a link to the Lumia range but they do literally any device.
Just bought silicone case from dx.com. Transparent, back side is matted. Not bad for this price, but flash working incorrect - fills all the frame because case scatters light

I've been using the Smays case since October. So far, it's done a good job of protecting the phone. It's been dropped numerous times. It was also in my pocket when when I tripped while running and fell. I don't know if it's ever landed on a corner, though.

I have this case. I think it looks nice and doesn't make a big phone even bigger, but needless to say: function > form. Once I dropped my phone face-first onto the sidewalk. I picked my phone up and when I flipped it over to examine the screen, I found a few chips around the corners of the case and one small one on the plastic rim on the front that surrounds the screen.
I think that Smays one is your best bet, unless you'd like the Cyclops one.

I'm not going to try to predict that, but I think it's safe to say that the corners and ends are the least protected parts of the phone when using this case. The plastic cradle that holds the phone extends partially around the corners, so they are not entirely without protection. I can think of some scenarios in which the case might not prevent damage to the phone if it were dropped from a distance of, say, four feet (about 1.2 meters) onto a hard surface, but the phone would have to fall in a very specfic way: face down, with one of the corners making first impact.
I think in most situations, this case should provide adequate protection, but it is not perfect.

It is a plastic screen with a screen protector on it, you will see little bumps and other imperfections. I do not like the case it came with, collects so much dust. I am waiting for the Leather Sleeve which should be here in the next few days, will get you an update on that. I keep my phone in my pocket and on my door panel pocket.
I m using this case. Best protection in my opinion. Search for neoprene universal case on amazon.
I am using it with the bumper case and the Huawei leather pouch together.
The case is conceived to be used without the bumper originally, but you can insert the plastic part of the bumper easily and it fits perfectly. (you can do it also as originally foreseen, so you can charge the phone when in the pouch but the rubber part of the bumper case is more difficult to pull our of the pouch. In any case, you get used to easily and you fill as you can use the phone as your daily driver.
Over the time, it gets even better as the leather pouch gets looser.
I hope it helps.
Best, Andreas,
I got this - fits almost perfect and protects every inch of the phone.

Case production idea
I am thinking to make my own case.
It will be a slide case with a glass sheet to use the big screen at all times, but you will need to slide the phone out to use the big screen.
I will make use it for a month before the selling point to make sure it really does the job.
I will keep you guys posted once I have made it and share the photos.
