Hi everybody,
This is my first post here and first of all id like to say "THANKS FOLKS" for the great job you are doing here just for your passion!
Im writing for Italy and im about to get an "english" (from U.K.) genuine and not branded Htc Tytn so, dont worry, im not about to bother you with questions about italian dumped roms or stuff like that!
Tytn will be my first pda phone and my first "experience" with WM 5 so, before posting, i tried to read as much as i could just to avoid posting old questions, but i didnt find anything to make it bright: if id like to upgrade the rom, the extended rom, the radio rom of my tytn with a genuine htc rom, extended rom and radio rom without upgrading the bootloader, how can i do that?Is it possible?if yes, how?
I ask that coz first, i suppose my tytn will come with the 1.04 bootloader since its brand new, second coz id like to be able to just upgrade the radio rom without upgrading all the rest and third, coz im not really intersted in making it "super cid" or anything else since i wont mount any other immage than the htc ones...
I dont know if i said something wrong or already asked and, if yes, my apologies...if not, i really hope to get some answers...

Hi Jello79 and welcome to XDA-Dev, I see you've done your homework of reading and searching before asking, and no... your question has not been asked before, so we're not going to kick your ass yet (just kidding!)
If you extract a shipped ROM you will see there's a NBH file which contains the following ROM parts:
Bootloader: IPL.nb & SPL.nb
Splash Screens: MainSplash.nb & SubSplash.nb
Radio: GSM.nb
Extended rom: ExtROM.nb
WM5: OS.nb
This NBH file has a signature generated with a private HTC certificate, and if you change a single bit of it, the signature will not be valid, so the bootloader will not accept to upgrade the device showing an "invalid cert error (255)".
So the answer to your question is unfortunately "no", you are not able to flash other ROM parts without flashing the bootloader, because all existing NBH files contain a IPL & SPL on them.

Sorry I can't answer that... depends on how you want to use the device and what do you expect out of it, and how happy are you to loose time changing roms, applying registry settings, installing cabs, etc... If you're a business user with no time and mod to play with it, I'd keep the shipped rom, otherwise I'd go on with upgrades.

I haven't read the warranty,... but I guess yes
1)If I flash my prophet with an OS-Update,that is made for another phone(for example Black Shadow Rom,made for Hermes),what will happen??Will it work,or i will have a nice bricked prophet?
2)If it doesn't work,what files i have to change to make it work..?I assume,that i have to change the drivers for the hardware... How can I do that?
3)How can i port Wizard Roms to Prophet?I believe that most WM6 roms,are from Wizard...but there isn't any guide on how to do it.....
4)Why other phones have 6-7 WM6 Roms,and for the Prophet are only 4(smart1,PDAViet,Trueneytral,PDAMobiz)??
5)Can I emulate the Rom i will cook-port,with the Microsoft Device Emulator?How?

1. only OS update can't brick your phone, only wrong IPL/SPL upgrade/downgrades can
2. if the OS doesn't work (if you have taken it from a non prophet phone) its hard to make it work, yes it needs the correct drivers etc. also the size the the way the OS.nb file is writen can be important
3. wizard and prophet are close with hardware etc, but you need to change the drivers for the correct ones, i'll try and post a rom cooking guide at some time on here
4. lazy dev people (i'm not lazy I just didnt have time to make one...yet)
5. might be possible, I havent tried it yet

At the end of the day i flashed Hardspl with new ipl 1.04 and spl 2.10
and new official Wm6.
now my questions is.. Can i reflash in my Vodafone 1605 all the original rom ,spl,ipl,radio, Os etc. etc. ???
If it is possible,where can i find all the file?

Ok..understand your problem and this is your first post and maybe you thought, "aah nice forum, He WM6 that looks nice, lets flash it on my device" ..Right simple ah? But..what you forgot..is to backup or read more about flashing..You cant reset it back to the original (what you wanna call it) "firmware"...

Well, this is not EXACTLY correct. Check out THIS LINK for downgrade directions. You will need to get the original ROM from somewhere. It is possible that it is HERE IN THE WIKI. Chances are that one of the files there has the same Radio, IPL & SPL. You will just need to find the OS, if it is not in there. (In fact, based on the specs, it looks like the third from the bottom of the English ones - Vodafone?) To flash, you will need dutty's good nbh tool to unpack the ROM, becuase you will need to do the IPL and SPL separately from the OS and radio. See THIS LINK for that info. If you don't want to get into all the unpacking, you *could* do the SPL downgrade first, then the upgrade, but it is generally good practice to downgrade SPL as a LAST step since you lose the hardspl protection as soon as you do it. Finally, use the google search link in my signature if you need to find anything else. Good luck.

Ok, tell me if i correctly understand..
I found the correct rom, after i have to unpack this rom with dutty's good nbh tool..(i have to remove Ipl & Spl?).
After the unpack i have to pack again the rom without ipl and spl and flash it in my Herm??!!is it correct? And in the end i have to change ipl and spl(is it a down grade?).
Last questions yet,
What i have to verify first that i start all this work on my herm to not brick my Herm?

I may have made it more complicated. That is the process I use.
Best thing to do is simply follow Mrvanx guides.
First downgrade the OS/Radio using THIS GUIDE
Then downgrade SPL/IPL using THIS GUIDE
That is all - as long as you have HardSPL, it is VERY hard to brick your device. So, do that last.
Is possible to flash only the rom i need following the guide, and leave my device with the current hardspl ipl and spl?

Yes. The only reason to remove HardSPL is for warranty. Just for clarification, there is no Hard IPL, only Hard SPL, but I know what you mean.
Basically, 99% of the time most of us flash we are only flashing OS or Radio. SPL and IPL don't change often. Most cooked ROMs are released as OS only.
Ah ok perfect, i'm not interested to the device warranty, because i bought it on ebay from Uk, and there is no warranty on my device, so i can only flash os without ipl and spl..

I have downloaded the rom that i need, but it is in .exe extension how can i extract from this .exe the .nbh file that i will decompile with dutty's???
2nd question, it's possible to downgrade radio rom? i put radio 1.51.00.10 in my device,but i didn't like it, because the 1.47 version
that i had was better of 1.51

No worries.
To unpack the exe, just use winrar and open it up. You will get a RUU_signed.nbh and an RUU. Just use the nbh file with the custom_ruu.
Yes, you can downgrade radio to 1.47 safely. No worries. I tried 1.51 too - didn't work out for me either. back to 1.50 for me.

Todd, thanks very much, i didn't know that with winrar was possible to unpack an .exe file,now i have all i need to flash my device with the hold or the new vodafone uk rom.

Where here in xda forum can i find the software(for eample the software that shaps have included in his Os) for my device customization?like today home,weather widget, or the automatic operator configurator etc etc?

I have read so many treats for upgrading (New Method).
I am not expert in this.
I have upgraded my Neo form WM5.0 to WM6.0 ,now on Transformation 1.1.
As after reading so many treats seem so many user are seem to be confusing to use new upgrade metho.
As others are doing in a click need to admit on their understanding.
Can any one answer on some of my question ?
I am sure this will help in removing my as well as others doughts.
1, For Hard SPL.
After Hard SPL is my current operating (Transformation 1.1 WM6) will remains the same or only which colour screen will apear on it and I have to update withs some WM Rome.
2, If Hard SPL donsent affect the existing rom.
Then after doing Hard SPL i just need to restart my Neo --> connect to PC
Through Active Syn. and need to exectue ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4.exe from the folder with the ROM.Thats it new WM will be update on my Neo.
3, If I had Hard SPL once,
I read that once you have Hard SPL then no need to do it again,
does it mean once i have done Hard SPL then for any WM i just need to run WM rom that it no need for any Hard SPL.
I am dam sure all Great Gurus of this form is dong or else playing with all this upgradation process for WM 6/6.1.
All of us who are confuse on this new upgradation process will be really thankfull if some one just post some documents with sceeen shots for complete process form beging till the end to WM 6/6.1.
I know all those information are avilable on this form, also tried to read as much as i can but got confuse.
Seeking the answers form Gurus.

Your questions are a bit difficult to understand, but hee.. not everybody is educated in the English language...
I think I did get your point, so I'm trying to answer your questions:
1) HardSPL doesn't affect your OS, it only replaces the standard SPL. This makes it possible to flash any ROM with the RUU instead of only the Vendors release. Keep in mind that this universal ROM has to be in a nk.nbf format.
2) I did answer that question in point 1: Yes after a succesfull installation of HardSPL (you can check the systeminfo at startup) the only thing you have to do when you want to upgrade is to put the nk.nbf of your desired ROM together with the RUU-package and run the RUU when your device is connected through ActiveSync.
3) HardSPL stays resident, that means that you only have to execute that step once. Keep in mind though that most official ROM's install a complete firmware-package: OS, Splash, GSM and SPL. If you install such a ROM the included SPL will overwrite HardSPL. No big deal, but you have to install it again when you want to flash a homecooked ROM again.

The last days I was reading a lot of posts, in order to get more information about this device and the options that i can have using a cooked rom.
But still have some questions, so please be pacient with me.
I have an 7500 with WM5 original rom portuguese language.
I understood that if I want to upgrade with AP5beta I need first to update the radio and then the SPL ( the SPL version will depend on the cooked rom ).
I will not need to unblock it, because it works with different sims.
Also for what I understood once I use the SPL3.5 I can not use anymore original roms ( or downgrade ). Is this correct?
If I upgrade my 7500 with the original WM6 roms, can I later use cooked rom's?
Does anyone, that have used only original rom's, noticed any difference between WM5 and WM6?

Welcome to the forum.
I noted your other post and it seems you are keen to play with your phone.
Sometimes when you do this , things go wrong , occasionally to the exent that it can't be fixed !
Most of the time , the mistakes have been made before, so if you are inexperienced, seek a friend to guide you or look and search on this forum before you do anything rash.
I would sugest first reading the wiki and asking questions showing you have done this first

After this I would suggest learning how to backup and restore data , before attempting to install the various program cabs.
When you are comfortable with this learn how to do a hard reset and reinstall your programs/data etc.
Next I would suggest that you find a copy of your original rom just in case you have to revert to it.
Next try an official Rom.
Along the way , I am sure you will make a mistake , but this is how most people learn how to fix their own problems.
By this time you will understand why you still have to use the athena unlocker

This should give you hours of enjoyment/frustration and along the way you may even learn the pros and cons of the various roms which , in the end are very subjective and depend on personal preference.

So it means that is a "one go direction".
But what about upgrade to original WM6 and then if I want go to cooked rom's. Is that posible?
Sorry but I don't have this clear after reading your links.
Probably the best to do is going directly to an original rom, but of course if doing that doesn't give me the option of using cooked rom's I must be sure on what direction I must go.

No problem. Upgrade your ATHENA to official WM6 and AFTER you can choose to install the Athena WRAPPER and the cooked ROMs!
