HTC Touch HD Mobile Phone Telescope - Touch HD Accessories

Hi,
has anybody tried this out already? Any feedback?
Looks quite interessting, will buy it in the next couple of days, I guess.
Best regards
johnpatcher

I've got one made by 3M which I bought off Amazon. It is very fiddly to get on and off and line up with the lens. A clamp spring keeps coming out so can't clamp it onto the phone easily. The position of the lens on the Blackstone is such that the clamp presses onto the volume button and the clamp is not secure on the phone as it has to protrude over the top of the phone above the lens. When I tried to take pictures using the zoom to maximum the result was a picture with a part black round circle around it. You could crop the circle out of the picture but then you are left with a small photo.
I've quickly done something with telescope and without attached for you to assess. It takes a long time to get it lined up correctly because the lens it too high on the Blackstone.
Actually it looks like that Brando one may fit better as it does not have clamps like the one I've got. I see it has a separate back that will work much better than the one I have. Will be interested to hear how you go with it if you get one.

Hm, not really amazing results at all . Have you noticed any better results without any zoom, or is this telescope just good for zooming in?

You just answered all my unanswered questions about this gamepad...
Oredering it soon.....

what a great bunch of add-ons.
I may consider buying it, so I can turn my HD into a professional camera like the Nikon D900 or a Canon EOS.

If anyone has tried this, a short review would be much appreciated.
The iPhone camera is even worse than the HD, why would you spend money on new lenses, if the picture is always going to be inferior?!

What do you mean??
If you add this lens to the HD it is not necessarily going to lower the quality of the picture. It will just bend the light differently to give you a different zoom or perspective (i.e. fisheye, telephoto), but it is still the HD taking the picture. Just because you put this on an HD does not mean you will lower the picture quality to that of the iphone. Or did I just totally misunderstand your post?
EDIT: Well, I looked at their sample pictures and they don't look good at all. Do you always see that black rim when using their lenses? That would be terrible!
This ?
hey whats that? is it real? where can i get more info about it??
This has been covered before
Hey guys, this has already been covered before, on page 2 of the Blackstone Accessories forum.

I have one and yes they work well, just don't trust the crystal case
Whoops that's where I first saw them on here, but a poster linked back to here....

Telescopic Zoom Lense + Crystal Case!

Hi all,
Just got a mail about this new product from a seller on eBay. I had purchased a Cradle for the Touch HD from him earlier, and he has a shop online too.
IF anyone has used it, please do put in your reviews.

Hi,same post here .
Funny Gadget
Thanks for pointing out, Marcdu81.
I had seen that earlier, but didnt see ur post on it. so thought it was just about the lens for the iPhones type.
Well, the iPhone type lens looks much better if its very slim and easy to just leave it on all the time.
I've got one
Hi guys, I bought one of these a while ago. However I'd only JUST thought of searching for a thread. So sorry for bumping an oldie.
I found the overall quality of the zoon lense to be pretty good. The crystal case didn't add too much bulk to my phone, and the zoom from the lense was pretty good.
I also found the zoom adjustment on the lense itself, once set, didn't have to be altered at all, I think if anything it slightly confused the blackstone's built-in auto-focus.
I've had mine for about 4 months or so now, bough from ebay. Having dropped my phone a few times (due to shonky work uniform pockets) the crystal case it was attached to pretty much just shattered. However I was able to salvage it by permanently adhering the lense "bracket" to the back of my phone, which, as a matter of humor, began to double as a belt-clip (I wouldn't suggest this though). It took a bit to align the bracket to allow the best focus from the lense to the camera lense, however it was doable.
Overall, I think at least this product deserves some merit as it has enabled me to take some "closer" pictures of birds and the like from a reasonable distance. The telescopic lense also doubles as a heavy duty magnifier which was more than capable of zooming in on the individual pixels on my LCD screen, and plasma TV (don't ask me why... OKAY! i was bored!)
Having said this, I have no photos to prove it's quality, as I've been through several hard drive losses since then (damn you seagate!!!). I will get some more photos and post them as a kind of "proof" that this lense is worthwhile getting, especially if you get it as cheap as I did from ebay.
Oh, and no black ring / frame around photos as per the other thread RE iPhony lenses
Pro's: Good zoom, good quality construction of the lense
Con's: Crystal (glass? LOL) case will shatter if dropped
The seller has been removed from eBay, which doesn't bode well...

they're still all over ebay, just have a look around, there was at least 6 different sellers with them when I bought mine

Intriguing...

well macro on the note 3 sadly just plain SUCKS hard core. SO ordered. will post pics vid review once I get it I LOVE shooting macro
Keep us updated!
Sent from my SM-N900T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
In general, problems with macros are: it's hard to get enough light, very shallow focus, hard to hand held without shake and with x15 magnification, probably a lot of distortion, so I would be surprised if it worked well, but sure, let us know how it comes out.
Looks like a lens pickup from a cd drive. These were used in projects for the iphones for the same purposes to.
Holding still enough locating the spot you want, adjusting height is frustrating unless you have a stand for it.
The it's unlike to be matched to the notes cam, so either you use only part of the sensor or the lense ...... just the usual problems with optics.
and how often can you safely de-/attach it, how do you center it.
I bought for fun a 40x microscope addon for ~3€ with whiteh/UV LED, and thats why I wrote the above.
Use of similar lenses of defect CD-drives have been described for the iphones.

That's exactly what it is, an acrylic asphere used for cd/dvd players. The collimator from a dollar store laser pointer should work as well.

Lenses for Nexus 6

Anyone using any lenses, like wide angle, fisheye, macro, etc. on their Nexus 6? If so, can you share any information and pics/videos of your set up? I was thinking about investing, but not sure if I should go with the clip or if I should go with a magnet one (also not sure if there is a magnet built in around the camera ala the Nexus 5).
I am a total noob when it comes to this stuff so any help would be awesome. Also, apologies if there is another thread on this topic, but I did not have any luck finding one.

Not sure if you're aware of this, but there was no magnet built around the Nexus 5's camera. Yes, people were able to mount the magnetic camera lenses to the N5's camera directly, but the only thing it would have been attaching itself to would have been the mechanisms for image stabilization, basically making that useless with the lens on, and also the small possibility of causing some sort of damage to the system in some way down the line.

I will second this. Do not put something magnetic near your camera. You will break your ois.

They fit ok. You can't have a case on the phone, though. They also have to be used from the top, instead of from the side.
Does it cover up the flash ring?

Pretty much. It has to, to not interfere with the actual camera.
Ah well... I don't know the last time I used a phone flash anyway. ?
I got some for my old iphone 5s and it fits the Nexus 6 fine, fits in the black ring on the camera so flash is fine. Only few £$ on ebay.

Anyone else with very bad lens flare?

https://www.dropbox.com/sc/w3aflekki0thqhj/AABqSYnVucDo-QVQeqYJeb2Ba
Anyone have this wonderful issue? I used my note 8 in the exact manner and no issues. No case on the s9+ or anything that could cause this besides a possible hardware issue or I received a lemon. Please check out your camera's and let me know plz. I hope it's just my phone
Yes! Under certain angels it's unbearable. Even had to check if I left some of the film on there, nope..

Thanks for the response. I went back outside to take more pics and I noticed the camera module was very reflective. It was like i was reflecting light with a little mirror. I grabbed my note 8 to see how that module's reflected light. At first i barely saw the reflection. Then i had to really put the phone at a major angle to get a brighter reflection. I think the camera module's aren't positioned correctly or designed correctly to avoid recieving the sun's rays in an improper way which then produces these crazy sun rays in the pics. My pics were taken mid day so the sun was kinda just past it's peak height. I took more pics later on with the sun lower and couldn't recreate the crazy flare. This is a deal breaker for me. Do you plan on keeping yours? I called Samsung and they weren't any help. They told me to return the phone and order another if I wanted.. this sucks
Damn. That's some crazy lens flare. I'm heading to Hawaii next week, and I'll be taking my S9+ (if it shows up on time). I hope the lens flare isn't going to ruin all my pics.
My Note 8 does it at certain angles, I just use my hand as a lens hood on the side that the sun is coming from.

Yeah, it's bad. Just communicated with Samsung Support on Twitter and they blamed the dual aperture. Suggested I try different angles and tap to focus. Smh. Guess enough people will have to complain before they realize there's an issue.

lol Well, if it is the dual aperture, it's a design/manufacturer flaw.
They basically just fed you the "You're holding it wrong" Apple reply, lol.
Thought it was a rainbow. How did you get it to show? As none of my pics have that but it hasn't been sunny here
Yeah the 1st photo I took outside had lens flare. I'll deal. I got the phone for the stereo speakers and speed. Not the camera.
While it may not eliminate all of it, you do have something on the outer glass covering the lens. It needs to be cleaned with a lens pen. That's what's causing those little o shaped artifacts. Because of the tiny aperture and very wide (F 1.5), these objective element must be kept optically clean as if it were a laser optic! That's exceedingly difficult since its exposed. My suggestion is to purchase a lens pen and keep it with you if the best quality pictures are important. One can really see this at night when capturing dark scenes with bright pinpoint sources such as headlamps and streetlights, etc.
My biggest issue with camera phones (they all have it!) is the internal reflections producing ghost images. It's really apparent at events (i.e. concerts) with multiple bright points of light. Bathes the image in little blue-green dots everywhere.

The pic with the circled artifacts was the first pic I took. The lens was clean toothe best of my knowledge. The following pics didn't have and of those artifacts pop up. Nevertheless, I'm concerned that there is a design flaw. I've owned many phones and have never had such an issue with taking pics with the sun. I was tweeting Samsung support and said the light penetrating into the lens was the reason for the terrible pics. Idk.. the phone is very new so we'll see how many do or don't come forward with this issue. All I know is the afternoon sun was just at the right height to cause the angle that the camera didn't agree with.
It's possible as with wider apertures and very bright out of frame light sources striking the periphery of the aperture you will see this. This can't be avoided even with pro gear hence the use of bulky hoods.
The idea of a two step iris, even in its rudimentary form, is a new frontier for mobile devices and this could be a glaring limitation if not annoying. Just as when driving one uses a visor or their hand, you may have to improvise and provide some shading to limit these artifacts.
Used hand as a shield
Well, took some more pics and the results are terrible. I even had it in video. I used my hand as a shield and away went the lens flare. I even rotated the phone to were the modules were on the opposite side as I normally use the phone during picture and video taking. I think that made it worse. I'm just disgusted.
Another example of me shielding the sun.
Sorry but they were flipped during the upload process.

Thank you for sharing. The speakers and speed are great! I messed with the phone before it was released and thought the speakers were ok. When trying them when I recieved the phone i was very impressed. I take a ton of pics so I don't think I can tolerate this camera issue.
