That's why I just put my phone in my pocket with the screen against my leg, or in my coat or bag.

The pouch that comes with it is pretty decent I guess, nothing real special but if it had any sort of belt clip or hook or anything at all I would probably use it but it will work until I get the one I ordered:

Battery Thread
Ok so most of you know I have had the android for about 3 weeks. When I first got my hands on it I started using it right away and did not do a full charge for the first time use.
So I got 2 more the other day and decided to charge one of the new battery's for 12 hours and stick it into my phone.
I am very happy to say that the battery has lasted 30% longer then my first battery. I started using it today at 10am and still have 58% batter left. It is 5pm now
I have 3g switched on the screen turned down all the way. I surfed for about 30 minutes on 3G and did allot of text and about 20 minutes of talk.
I will give it another day and report back. But this is surely a huge plus.

Do you think is because u charge the battery longer for the first time? I heard that pre release G-1 were on Android 0.9 and the one coming out this week is already on 1.0? Is this different on your phones? does it make a difference when it comes to battery life?

My device was boxed and always ran 1.0 on it.
I am a firm believer in charging the battery all the way for first time use. And this has really proved my theory.

I currently have a wing. I currently keep my phone on fly mode while at work since I only use the calendar to remind me of appointments and meetings during the day. I turn on the phone at about 5pm and from that moment on I might be on the phone for 3 and 4 hours talking to my wife who is currently away. On weekend is worst I spend probably up to 6 and 7 hours. My wing is great when it comes to battery, I only charge my every night. how do you think G-1 will affect my life?

Me too, and with anything new I not only charge it all the way the first time, but I also run that first charge all the way down. Seems to help keep things in good condition. I recall reading something last year that with any new device it's best to wait until it's fully charged to use it and then on that first charge run the battery all the way down before recharging.

Thanks for the tip, as hard as it will be im just gonna let it charge up!!!

I have one on order as my original battery can't survive more than a few hours of no use at all
i bought a couple of 5/10 dollar "1600 mAh" batteries off of ebay and they work 110% for me...look up my threads in this part of the forum and you'll see pics, reviews and info. Buy em!
can you link your revs?
Just bought one of these myself, any feedback from anyone?
just bought one too, i will let yall know how it turns out.
mine arrived today, just stopped charging this moment
Hope this is worth it...
Just ordered one as the OEM batt on my G1 is not cutting it... Any feedback from those who may be using this battery already?
-Thanks!
Normally I'm a reader not a poster, but I just bought 2 of these batteries off eBay (before reading the horrible reviews) since my OEM battery wouldn't last more than a phone call. I didn't really care if it did better than the OEM, I just needed something to hold me over until I decided to get a new phone.
It took about 2 weeks to get here, and I wasn't expecting any better than OEM but I'm actually impressed. Contrary to what I've been reading the label doesn't feel like it's been slapped on over the original.
Yesterday was it's first full run. Took it off the charger at 9AM and back on at about 2AM at a 39% charge. About 35 minutes of phone calls, half an hour of gtalk, and some market updates. Wifi off, 3G on, brightness at about 40%, bluetooth off, and CM-5.0.7.
I guess we'll see how long the good performance lasts.

Wireless Charging

I just picked up a wireless charging pad from my VZW store.
I love it!
I can now just set my phone on the nightstand next to the bed and not have to worry about plugging it in.
Thank you HTC for finally making this built in, and not an option!

I really like this idea. I've currently got a dock for my Rezound, and while it is more convenient than a loose cable most of the time, its still fan be a bit of a pain sometimes.

Did you get the LG one? If so, supposedly the thing beeps super loudly every time the charger turns on according to the Amazon.com reviews.
You are supposed to be able to take it apart and remove the speaker from the board.
I just ordered 2 for $35 ea from there... hoping for the best.

Great. I'm curious if the beep happens every time the charger kicks on (I believe it shuts off automatically when the phone is fully charged) or if it's just one "beep" when the phone is set down on it.
Either way, I'll probably be disconnecting the speaker since I will use one bedside (don't want to wake the sig other) and one at work and don't want to bother my coworkers either.

i was on the fence yesterday about getting it, and picked it up today and i am so glad i did. i especially like how firm of a grip it has. i still think i may pick up the energizer one from amazon so i can have one at home and one at the office
I'm thinking of picking up the LG pad (and ripping the speaker out) to put on my desk. I can't think of anything more convenient that just putting the phone down and it charging up. I'll probably continue to use a charger at night for now. I'm not really crazy about the LG pad, and you know there'll be more options out there soon. I'd rather hold off and get one that's maybe more stylish, or slimmer (and no beep!) before I invest in a second pad.
I'd like to see a USB powered pad if possible, so I could toss it in my bag and take it to work with me (no free outlets at my desk so I currently charge my phone through the USB port).
I just ordered the nokia charger from verizons website, it is compatible with DNA.
Long Term Use
I have read that wireless charging causes the battery to get warmer than corded charging. I wonder since this is a non-replaceable battery will that effect the overall life of the battery. Is anyone else worried about long term use of a charging pad. I love the idea but wonder if it will cause issues later on.

I didn't see it answered anywhere, but if you go with the wireless charger will you be able to keep a slim case on it? I don't want to put an otterbox on it or anything since it is already a pretty big phone, but I would like to put one of those slim form-fitting cases on it.

Personally HOX+ hands down. SG3 dual core vs. HOX+ quad core + 1, really no comparison. Only thing the SG3 has on the HOX+ is the 2gb of ram and sd card slot i believe it has in the USA version. I played with the SG3 in the store as before i knew anything about the HOX+ i was thinking to get it over the new iphone 5. Thing looks and feels like a cheap piece of plastic and not liking it at all and the dull colors the screen produces. Really personally preference on your part but if going off the specs along the HOX+ hands down imo at least.
Walk into the ATT store tomorrow and be the first to play with the HOX+ in the store and i think instantly you will make your mind up .

I see people complaining so much about removable batteries but unless you live in the stone age, how and when are you not near a wall jack to plug your phone in? I always have my device on the charger while i sleep so i start the day with a fresh charge, i work a desk job in an office so all day at work i can always plug it in if needed, then at home obviously i can plug it in if needed. Unless you're a world back packing traveler, who and why would you carry around 2+ spare batteries with you? lol, never understood that stuff?

An advantage of a phone with a removable battery is when the battery starts to deteriorate after maybe 3 years. With SGS3, you just buy a spare battery, pop it in and you're good to go. With HOX+, you'll have to take it to a service center and dissect the thing to have the battery replaced, and pay a service fee. Who knows if the phone will still feel as solid after tearing it up and putting it all back together. That said, I am still for the HOX+. Just something to consider if you're keeping the phone for a while.

Well of course but who the heck holds onto the same device for 3+ years, lol? Not matter how cutting edge your current device is (this for example for the time being as in today, who knows about tomorrow), in a few months and for sure in a year your device will be outdated even with the latest software upgrades and you'll be drooling over the next best thing. Longest i've ever kept a device was 2yrs and that was the Iphone 4 when it first came out. Only reason why i held out so long is because i didn't like the S3 at all and had high hopes for the Iphone 5 which is a joke compared to what's out now. 3 years, that's crazy talk my friend

I guess it depends upon one's lifestyle. I also charge my phone all night but during the day I am constantly moving. If I get to 20% by 5pm and then need to go out I like to have a spare battery in my pocket or briefcase. Also using the phone as a gps or tethering, which I do during the day, tends to drain the battery more than standby or talking. I spend a lot of time in airports and always see the poor folks gathered around the charging stands or wired to outlets in the floor. I don't have that problem if I have a couple of spare batteries charged. I can use the phone in the airport then on the plane. It takes 30 seconds to change a battery compared to hours to charge. Battery life is irrelevant if you can just replace them when they are dead, it doesn't matter if you get 12 hours or 24. At $4 each you can carry as may spares as you need.
But unfortunately it seems that the SG3 is the last top tier phone with a removable battery. The hox+, LG Optimus G, Sony Experia TL, and the Nokia Lumia 920 all have embedded batteries. Regardless I may end up with a hox+ and have to change the habits that I have developed since 2005. Maybe I will carry one of those AA battery recharging gadgets as a security blanket.

OWL Car Pad (Qi Car Charger)

Hey guys,
I went out on a limb and bought the OWL car charger+dock for my DNA.
There is a bunch of discussion on the item here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2029734 along with plenty of pictures.
I wanted to let you guys know some specifics for the DNA:
1. The phone fits perfectly into the clip. I don't have any cases, so I can't test that, but naked the phone fits like a glove and is very secure, even upside down.
2. Even the "second generation" of charger still does not put out enough juice for the DNA, even with the phone at idle.
I have emailed Moon and will update this thread when I hear back from him. I am thinking the problem might have something to do with the controller inside the charger. It switches to red (charging) momentarily when the phone is inserted, but then switches back to green (full).

Update 1: Moon has emailed back already to assure me that if the charger doesn't work, he will do what it takes to make it right.
I am hoping we can figure out a way to make the phone work in the charger, since I love the design and the convenience of Qi...
awesome! I have been wondering if it works for our phone since I saw the post you linked above about a week ago. I emailed moon about it, but he was unsure. I'm glad that someone confirmed what I have been wondering. Thanks again
I'm also looking forward to more info on this. Going through the website I couldn't quite follow if it worked or not.
Update 2:
The Qi charging coil built into the CarPad does work to charge the HTC DNA, unfortunately the coil is positioned about 0.5" too low for the phone.
Moon is working on an adjustment to the circuit board to re-position the charging coil.
Tonight I am going to take a look at temperatures during charging. With the screen turned on the battery did get 3-4°C warmer than normal on the Nokia Qi charger, but it was a pretty short charge. I am going to try leaving the screen turned on and the phone charging on the CarPad tonight for a couple of hours to see the charge rate and temperature change.
Other news:
There does not seem to be any scuffing, scratching, or denting of the phone's finish caused by inserting and removing from the clip. I had worried that the spring arms on the side might hurt the matte finish on the back of the phone, but so far I don't see any changes.
Thanks guys,
Ben
thanks for the update, keep us posted. in car qi charging is very interesting.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
Thanks, I got a reply from Moon that he thinks the "autopad" will be the option for the DNA and he'll let me know when it is available. I will post info here if I hear back.
http://owlpad.net/owl-autopad/
Update 3:
Good news tonight. First, I've done a temperature test using the phone at room temperature. With navigation, LTE, and the screen constantly on the CarPad provides moderage charge (+200mAh) and does not cause excessively high heat (under 45°C). This is comparable with the 43°C I saw with the Nokia Qi charger while watching a Netflix Stream.
With the screen off the temperature is also pretty normal (35°C) so I think the coil is good.
Moon at Owl Chargers tells me that he may add a little to the coil to make it more consistent on the charging, and he is going to create a new PCB that has the coil positioned 1/2" higher so that it will line up properly with the DNA.
It sounds like this change could happen pretty quickly, but I will let you know when I have the test board in hand.
Thanks guys,
Ben
Please keep the updates coming, thanks!
Hey everyone, sorry for a few days of delay.
I talked to Moon this morning and he thinks they should have the test board created by the beginning of next week. He is moving the charging coil up to line up better with both the DNA and the Galaxy S3, and he is upgrading to a bigger charging coil to presumably give better charging efficiency.
I have removed the standard charging coil from the phone holding base and have been using it as a standard desktop charger for the last few days (with the Owl-Pad supplied AC Adapter). It has been working well for that as long as I position the phone properly, so with any luck the new board should fix the problem in the car mount.
I will let you guys know when the new part ships, and will be sure to take pictures of the new versus old board.
Thanks,
Ben
Thanks for the updates.
Sudo make me a sandwich.
Good news from Moon at OWL Pad today, the new circuit board is complete, his testing looks good, and he is shipping it out to me to test on the DNA tomorrow.
I will update everyone here with pictures once I have the new board and have been able to try it out, but Moon posted some initial tests on the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 which both charge at the higher position. Those tests looked good so I have to think it will work on the DNA as well.
Thanks all,
Ben
(You can see my pictures and charging screenshots on the OwlPad site)

I'm not sure how he would do that. I'm sure he has a bunch of the units already boxed up from the last production run. It might be that he has to ship the old unit and the new board separate. Honestly, changing the board was incredibly easy. There are four screws and then the old board just lifts out and the new one drops in.
When the new one comes in I had planned on putting up pictures showing how to remove the old one and install the new one.

I think I'd love to get both boards since then I'd be prepared if my next phone requires the "other" position.

Looks like the set is for sale for the DNA on the web page now. Still sounds like he's waiting for test results but you go through with an order now if you want.
Hey Guys,
I got the unit in the mail when I got home from work (30 minutes ago).
So far everything looks GREAT!
I am running temperature and charging tests now, but the new coil position looks perfect, and I'm getting as much or possibly more current out of the OWL charger than I was getting out of the Nokia.
Tonight I should have pictures and screen shots available from my early tests, but I have to say that everything looks great so far.
I also want to add that the level of customer service and responsiveness from Moon at OWL charging was incredible. If I got service half as good from the companies I do business with in the US I would be amazed, and these folks are having to deal with me from the other side of the world. I have absolutely no ties with their company, and hadn't even spoken to them to ask if the charger worked for my phone before I ordered, but they went above and beyond any expectations in getting this charger working.
Once I have a few hours charging I can fill in the remaining details (temperatures, approximate charge time, etc), but right now I would say the newest version is a huge success!

I forgot to mention, the +300 mah charging rate was with the screen locked on, LTE, GPS, Navigation, and Pandora all running.
